[Q] SMS / Text Message Timestamps Incorrect - HD7 General

Hi Guys,
I've been searching and searching and I cant find anyone with the same problem as me, on WP7 or HD7. Basically the times are completely wack on the text messages i receive. The could be a few hours behind, or usually entire days behind, and my personal favorite, from the future.
No idea what's going on. Everything seems fine in the settings - been over them 100 times. I've seen it as being a common issue with some older phones, but nothing on the latest ones.
Has anyone had this? Or even better, does anyone know how to fix it? The text messages that I send are stamped correctly, so it's just the ones i receive. It looks like the phone is using the time sent from the carrier, and then applying some wacky timezone to it based off my timezone (which is Auckland, New Zealand).
Help!

incoming messages from different time zone

hi all,
I text a lot with a person from a different timezone (they are GMT, I am GMT+1) and the messages I recieve have the timestamp of the originating timezone instead of mine... this has happened on a WM5 device (ipaq) as well as my new tytnII, but wasn't happening on other phones (SonyEricsson K750 and M600 (which is Symbian))
it doesn't annoy me as such, as much as it bothers advanced messaging programs... I've tried 3 different threaded SMS applications and they all get very confused by it
has anyone come across this problem before? any known solutions?
thank you!!
Don't know about you, but this quirk annoys ME very much.
It causes my text messages NOT to sort properly by Received date.
(I'm in south east Asia, receiving text messages out of New York and Zurich).
Try PocketCM. The smsintercept.dll rewrites the timestamp to when it was received. Although it doesn't always work.
I tried pocketcm (do I need to do something special with it or just have it installed?) and nothing happened
my normal sms notify still comes up tho, it just shows pocketcm under it
What version did you try?
the one offered for download? 0.18?
Dunno. Works for me.
I am having the same issue, very very annoying, especially when texting people in 2 different timezones, keep having to scroll to the top and back down again!!
I tried PocketCM, but that doesn't change the received time, and its threaded messages (looks great btw), get screwed up by the confused timezones.
Surely there must be a way for pocket outlook to sort by received rather than sent, seeing as nearly every other phone out there doesn't have this issue!
Nobody have any ideas on how to 'fix' this?
I used to be annoyed with my old phone (SE M600 (symbian)) that used "recieved" time to sort the messages (meaning delays and turning off the phone messes up the time)... I'd gladly go back to being annoyed with that instead of this...
can anyone hack together a solution for this?
I'm offering a bounty of 50$ to the person who posts a solution for this
thanks!

SMS timestamp issue

Hey guys, I'm having a SMS timestamp issue since rooting and installing SenseUI rom and CM rom.
Note, this did -not- happen on the stock n1 rom. I'm currently in China using China Mobile so I haven't been able to test this back in the states (TMobile) yet.
Basically, when I send a message to anyone (android, iphones, etc), their received timestamp of my message is 7-8 minutes in the past. Obviously this is quite the annoyance for threaded messages on smartphones. I can replicate this by sms'ing my own phone and the timestamp of the received message is 8 minutes before I sent it.
I've tried everything I can think of. I've even nandroid restored my original backup and the issue is still happening. I've turned on/off the "get time from network" settings, updated radio and redowngraded, tried 3-4 different roms, but nothing is working.
Anyone seen this before or have any ideas? Frustrating the hell out of me!
anyone have any ideas?

Anyone else have alot of SMS send failures ?

Hey Peoples
Had the galaxy for a few weeks and loving it so far, seems fairly stable. Im running 2.2.
Only thing I've noticed on the phone is it has alot of SMS failures. Maybe 25-35% of sms's I send will result in a failure, then i resend and goes through. It happens when I have full reception, and never happened previously with any old phones so im assuming its the phone.
Ive been with Optus (AUS) for the last 10+ years and never had any issues before so yeah think there network is all good.
Ive checked my settings and im using the same serivce centre settings as before. In SMS/Settings I havnt got anything selected except "delete old messages" and "notifications"
Anyone notice anything similar ?
Thanks
+1
I often find this too. I'm on Orange in the UK, I originally put it down to poor signal but it does happen far too often for that to be the only cause. Never had anything like it on previous phones
somewhat good to hear its not just me then
Just out of curiosity, which SMS program are you using ? I just use the default one. I Might try another SMS app (unless your having the same issues with another app)
Ive used the samsung default messaging app, Android AOSP messaging app, and ChompSMS. They all are the same though when it comes to failed deliveries so I suspect its something to do with the modem? Maybe would be better to try out different modems to see if that makes any difference?

[Q] Incoming SMS Timestamp off by -5 hours

Hey guys,
I have an unlocked HD7 from Bell and I'm using it under Rogers right now. I have a problem where my incoming SMS are behind by 5 hours. (They come right away but the stated time on them is off by 5 hours).
I tried fiddling with the timezone settings to match the times but then it messes up my calendar times.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Joey
Anyone figure this out?
I am 2 hours out (thinking it has to do with where the Bell SMS center is located)
hoping someone can figure out a fix
I am in Calgary, AB, Canada and using Fido if that makes a difference. I am thinking I could update to a different ROM, anyone know if that will work and what ROM I should choose?
thanks in advance
This is a known issue at Microsoft i mentioned it to them when i went there for an interview as well the only way to fix it is by doing the following.
1) goto Settings> Date & Time>
2) Turn off "set automatically"
3) Set Time Zone to "UTC Coordinated Universal Time"
4) Manually enter the correct time in the "Time" field
5) Adjust the date if you have to.
And Save and restart your phone this should fix the issue its not an actual fix but it works.
Well I took your advice and changed the timezone to UTC - 03 (then manually set the time)
Seems to have done the trick; will just have to remember to adjust for time zones I guess
thanks
Wait; spoke too soon
that messed up all the times for my email, the emails are all time stamped 3 hours in the future.
Oh well, guess I will just never have that "Perfect" phone.
Just annoying as this HD7 is probably the best phone I have ever had but there are so many of these annoyances...

What email are you using on the device? Outlook or just a standard Hotmail / Live acct? I will be unlocking my Bell HD7 very soon to use it on Rogers as well and I do not use Outlook so if the fix above sorts out the TEXT issue and does not bother my "Hotmail / Live" email then I will be a happy man however... I dont really use my email on my phone that much anyways so I guess as long as this fixes the SMS timestamp issue then I should be fine.
At any rate... If you could let me know anyways I would appreciate it.
***EDIT*** I tried this today after unlocking my Bell HD7 and running it on Rogers and it did not work at all. Now instead of the time stamp being 4 hours slow, it is now 2 hours fast using Universal Coordinated Time (UTC). Anyone else know how to get a proper time stamp on SMS after unlocking and using on a different network?
I just gave up and am now licing with a 4 hour tamestamp issue on my text.
my email, calendar and everything else works so this is just something I guess I have to live with. Not that bad
Email via hotmail & yahoo using the WP7 email program
My EVO does the same thing. Only when my cousin sends MMS he's on cricket. It has also done it when the towers messed up in my area.

Ya... Same with me. I gave up as well and am now living with the timestamp issue on my texts, mms, etc... My outgoing texts go out at the right time and are being received by the recipients at the right time but when I receive a text it is out of wack.
What I dont understand is that when I get a text and I get the "toast notification" at the top of my phone, the time stamp there is CORRECT but when I open my messages and look at the actual message itself it is out of wack. WEIRD!!!
Does yours do this as well?

[Q] Occasional Time stamp issue

Been on quite a few roms, and always seem to run into the same problem. Every once in awhile the timestamp for incoming messages is behind by 5 hrs. I have tried the sms time fix and still the same issue. Its not a huge deal but it does get annoying trying to find my most recent msg when i get it lol.
I'm on Rogers btw.
I've heard this from a few Canadian users, seems that its because there is no Canadian locale in those roms, try "effin eh" by trussello a fellow neighbor to the north, that should have the locale settings in it to prevent that from happening.
Thats what I was thinking, just trying a few different ones right now to see how often it happens with each
