Clogging up Threads with Useless Posts

Well I figure this is the proper place to put this, odds are almost no one will read it, but whatever. I've been around here for not yet a year and have learned a lot, and I have been amazed by the graphic and programming talents of many people.
While I understand a certain impatience/anxiety when waiting for a new release (ROM, theme, whatever...) from your favorite cook, designer, etc. there really isn't a need to clog the discussion thread up with posts that just say you are waiting. It doesn't contribute suggestions to the author, or help others.
On those lines...most people in here have lives outside of this forum, and programming, and hopefully our phones (don't get me wrong I love my phone, but I'll put it down in a heartbeat to go play with my daughter). So when you are anxiously waiting for that release posting comments like "oh [insert author here] hasn't posted an update in so it must mean they abandoned the project" is inconsiderate.
Is there a chance that they abandoned it, well yes, but odds are they would post something saying so. Most likely life got in the way (family, friends, going on holiday, computer crashing, programs failing, fire, flood, famine, etc). Give them time, most likely they will deliver what they promised. Complaining about the time it takes for someone to develop a FREE program/theme is hard for me to understand.
Well there is my 2cents...so comment away, flame, ban me, what ever. I just had to put it out there, and I wanted to do it somewhere other than the last thread I read that set me on this rant.

go for it. i've read simmilar rants/postings on this, but they are buried inside of the clogged up threads.

Seriously though, I agree with what your saying. Most of the important threads are full of useless requests, moans etc, etc.

Exactly the point that uiskibum is trying to make. People like u who do this kind of inconsiderate thing alllllll the time is exactly the reason why so many great developers/programmers/skinners left the forum.

oh i am so sry!!! i take full responsibilty for my actions. i understand what he is sayin, my most viewed thread prolly my warez thread that i made lol which was like how long ago...all of my almost 200 post r prolly useless, look man give me ur solution to this prob. and like he said "most people in here have lives outside of this forum" so get one....i reiterate this is nvr gonna stop someone will always make a redudant thread/post

Funny...
The thing is that this is the nature of 'useful information'.
If the site was another drone the nature of the post would reflect that. They would be limited. But XDA is a site that has far reaching uses and applications, its only right that there's going to be some runoff.
This site is an example of the power of a truly informative forum.

What do you guys think? I'm seeing way to many dev's, forum goers and mods alike jump all over people ****e whenever they post in the wrong forum
Be Kind to your fellow man no need to be a **** about it. It's a learning experience if you are really getting upset over the "wrong category" you just shouldn't post there is plenty of other outlets for you.

I don't know what the vibrant forums are like, but in the realm of the almighty nexus mods and admins are constantly moving and deleting threads to the proper section, and it really clutters up the flow of the forum. It also makes it near impossible to find the thread you want...and, if you're like me, you don't want to waste the five minutes you can spare for xda daily on forum sifting.
Posting in the right subforum, AFAIK, are a part of the rules you agreed to by creating an account. I'm probably wrong there, but it would make sense.
BTW, I like the post count Max (1337)

Usually just ignore the *COUGH* jerks *COUGH* but sometimes I have to let a little anger out cause there are seriously a lot of *COUGH* jerks *COUGH* posting in the wrong section, not reading the first post etc... Now you made me mad You happy?

I usually post in Vibrant forums, What i see is there are alot punk kids in the forums (aka younger people) So I take their behavior with a grain of salt, and....... Most of the Galaxy owners believe they have the more noble phone ergo the more purest attitude in the forum.

Off topic is for fun for sure , but if you checked other section there no fun buddy , ppl work hard (Devs) and ppl (read Little) but there is no fun outside the Off topic section

i don't want to flame here but want to give my opinion on some things that are happening here and aren't fair at all.
i'm here for about 6 months or so, i find this community very useful,helpful, fun.. etc.
many times topics get overloaded by useless discussions, fights or stupid offtopic talk. many users, topicstarters and moderators try to make sure the rules are followed. offcourse like in every large community there are good and bad users.
you can't prevent such things from happening.
but why? (now again with zeus's topic) every time something goes wrong the topic gets closed. TS and many good users are punished for something they had nothing to do with.
why not punish te ones that misbehave individually?
i don't want to tell the mod how he needs to do his work but this isn't fair in my opinion..

Agree 100% , the people in this particular sector are some of the most selfish I've seen with demands and expectations for a free product that has absolutely nothing to do with them and all that we do have is the result of someones HOBBY, not job. After coming from p500 with a roms out the wazoo it can be a little dissapointing in comparison, but if I cared enough to demand and complain I would simply do it myself.

Banning temporary cannot help. Later re post again. I rather XDA make ip blocker. Better
But, they can still counter with hotspotshield

Blocking the account for few days is nice idea, then the blocked user will know the value of XDA in the meantime..

that's totally the opposite of my intention..
big forum's just needs to be monitored, you can't help that.. there are always "bad" people arround.. no matter where you are in the world.
just to be clear, the mod here is doing her job very good.
the only thing i don't like is the closing of topics.. and by that you are punishing the wrong people.
i don't want people to get banned over a few bad or stupid posts, that's not my intention.

[DISCUSSION] Elitist attitudes towards new threads

Ok, so the most recent thread, the "roll over your keyboard" one, has made me think of why some users on here hate on new threads.
I personally think that we should really stop acting this way, its insanely stupid and you are just coming out as immature.
I also noticed that majority of the "trolls" are S-mems with many posts. NEWSFLASH you are just setting a bad example of how S-mems act to any new member that posts.
My question stands -- why do you do it?

I hope my post in the "post what you're doing right now" thread didn't offend.

It's the OT people will get burned, regardless if it's a new or old thread. If people can't take the heat, stay away from the OT. That's the only reasonable answer I can give.

OT = home of trolls. They can be destructive at times and completely docile at others. They will bash up one thread while respecting and contributing to other threads. All I'm saying is such things happen. It's all part and parcel of dwelling in the OT and people shouldn't get their panties in a bunch if their thread gets bashed. They shouldn't expect too much from this section in the forum. If they go unscathed, good for them. If not leave it in the past and move on.

Off-topic is already full of junk. This is just more junk. Until the powers that be decide to improve the standards in OT, anybody posting junk threads should be flamed relentlessly.
Half the threads here should be closed immediately and bans should be handed out for creating junk threads in future. For people who don't know the difference between a good thread and a junk thread:
Photography thread = Good
Take your head and let it roll over your keyboard = Junk
Of course, the powers that be need to do their part. OT shouldn't be a dumping ground for junk threads made in other parts of the forums either. If those threads are junk, delete them. Simple.
OT has it's moments, but for the most part it's full of witless nonsense.
