Oh the irony...
Phiremod isn't cm7 its just a themed nookie froyo... cm7 is being kept private until it's perfect. Be patient and time will reward you.
Actually the new build of phiremod is CM7. And CM7 isn't private, thecubed released the CM7 build today. Oh the irony...

Once CM7 is installed, is it easy to update with the nightly builds? Just wondering if it is possible to do an update rather than having to do a complete rewrite of the emmc?

I am new to CM team's work, I have a Samsung Vibrant and they do not develop for it, so I am interested in this answer too. What exactly are "nightly builds"?

From what I have read to date.. I would say yes, but it is not seeing all the apps. As this build is currently in Beta, and the Devs debugged the market only to the point of Google registration and no further.. yet.
This is subject to change, even hourly so hold on to your seat.

this is an open source build. anyone can contribute changes/fixes and if they are approved they go in to the nightly build. so yes, every night a new build will be made even if there are no changes.
Why thank you!
The Nook forums are a breath of fresh air coming from the wild west of the Vibrant forums. Here seems to be, well, more mature, IMO.
Digging the separate "Dev" and "user forums". Lets the Devs do their work.
nah all ive seen is original, nightly (under the name encore not nook), and phiremods. ive been looking too
Sorry for the noobie question but.....
What is CM7? I'm familiar with the android builds,
Eclair, Froyo, Honeycomb, etc., but not CM7.
Thanks
Never mind! I found out myself. Should have just googled CM7 in the first place. Thanks anyway!
format SD card?
I have CM7 running on the nook. For some reason I am having trouble with the SD card. I am new to android, so bear with me. When using the Nook's OS there was a format SD card option, but I can't seem to find this in the CM7 build. How do I go about formatting so that I can use titanium backup? I have tried formatting to fat32, and that does not seem to work. SD card shows up, but I can't see my files. Thanks for any help on this.

They put out the 7-flavour for about a dozen phones but I haven't seen a dedicated NC ROM.
What device-version of CM7 did you use? How did you flash it (Clockwork or Fastboot)?
I don't have my NC yet but am doing research for next week...

Seeing as how I haven't seen anybody else get to it yet, I'm going to officially kick off the port of CM to the Incredible. I've decided not to bother with CM5 for the time being seeing as how most folks want Froyo, so I've forked cyanogen's froyo branch, and I'll start from there. I could really use some help getting the vendor info set up so that we can possibly get some test builds going.
Relevant information follows:
GitHub: git://github.com/determinato/android.git -b froyo
IRC: ##incrediblecm on Freenode
Developers interested in helping with the port can find me:

Thanks, and here's looking foward to a great ROM on a great device!
Koush still has a inc or atleast that is what I take from this.

It's a homescreen of froyo on a inc, say's that it is really buggy. No ETA on anything at the moment.
So I am new to the Android world, when he releases this, if I root and flash to it, and later have to return my DInc for a warranty issue, is there anyway to get it back to normal so they dont void my warranty?

Yes use the downgrade method. And if you do a nandroid back up you can also revert back.

Nandroid wouldn't help because it would return you to a rooted phone with custom recovery....
Moving back on topic, I would love to see Cyanogen mod on this device. I miss it from my G1 and really struggled between getting an Inc or a Droid that I knew I could root and put it on.
While I don't have any real experience with building ROM's and such, I'm more then happy to lend any help I can.
This'll give me a reason to actually go through with the rooting process too. =)

Pls tell us more
1. You are running CM7 from where? eMMC or uSD?
2. Which version of nitebuild you currently have on the NC and which version of stable/nitebuild you want to update to?
Funny, I just asked the same questions to his same post in another forum.....
My humble suggestion would be to use ROM Manager Premium....nice and simple. Yes its a Buck...don't be tight..its a good program that deserves support. Lets you easily download and install Clockwork Mod Recovery and many different custom ROMs including both nightlies and stable versions of CM7.

Are you successfully updating ROMS with ROM Manager while running CM7 from the SD card?
The CM is running off the SD card. The nightly on my Nook says this:
CyanogenMod-7-07042011-NIGHTLY-encore. I simply would like to update it to the most recent stable CM version.
I am familiar with Rom Manager as I use it often on my Evo. Always considered updating to Premium. Question is, if u get Premium, will I be able to use it on multiple devices?

As a general rule yes... you can run paid apps on multiple devices... HOWEVER:
DO NOT use ROM Manager for an SD card install.
Follow the directions in the SD card thread for updating SD builds.

Ok so after reading that thread over and over, I was unsuccessful. I even went to other threads and was told Nightly 201 was the most stable, and to just place it on the root of my SDcard and to boot. I did that and it seemed to install. But when I turn it back on and check the version, its the same nightly version I originally installed. Ideas?
I also have a plethora of SD cards, on case I should use them.

I have been searching the web the last 2 days. Getting more confused the more I read. Just not sure what the difference is between the different dual boot roms(CM7,CM9,CM10). It sounds like the CM7 is the stable running one. But, most of what I have read is probably outdated. Was going to buy the N2A card. But, I figured I could get a microsd and just do it myself. I believe they run the CM9 or 10 on there sd cards. If I read correctly they just used the development here on xda to do there cards. You are just paying for them to do the leg work for you. A couple years ago I rooted a Pandigital with out any problem. This just seems way more confusing than that.

If you want to leave stock alone on internal memory and install a CM ROM on SD, follow my updated SD installation guide linked in my signature. That guide is up to date for all versions of CM, including CM7 even though it does not say so.
As far as which version to install, CM7 is by far the most stable. You can get the CM 7.2 ROM at the cyanogenmod site and the gapps-gb zip at goo.im.
CM9 has pretty much stalled on development since CM10 came out so I recommend against that.
CM10 is getting pretty mature and new nightlies come out every day, each improving on the next. It is good enough that many, including me, use it as their every day driver.

After a long absence, I pulled out the the NC and installed CM10 on SD card, but I find it to be quite sluggish.
Is this normal?
I didn't find CM7 all that sluggish when I played with it last some time ago.
Any thoughts?

CM just announced one update to the CM 10.1 branch of code. I tried posting this in the other CM 10.1 thread, but I cannot due to my newbiness. Anyway, does anybody know if 10.1.3 RC1 will get ported to the Nook HD Ovation? Can somebody ask everygreen the awesome guy who has been doing all this stuff? I really havent made the switch to 10.2 and probably wont for quite a while. I currently run 10.1 the last one from 8/13. I wonder of 10.1.3RC has anybody better. Oh well. I hope this makes sense.

I missed the boat on 10.1.3RC1, but RC2 and eventually 10.1.3 stable should be made for our devices too.
Where should we watch for updates about when this is available? Seems all of the chatter over in the dev forum is only about CM10.2.

Would installing this new 10.1 RC from the updated in CM be wise?
Still very new to this. Just got CM put on my Nook this weekend and would hate to have to start fresh again.
I would suggest installing any RC version. They are supposed to be pretty stable and have bug fixes that you'll want (not to say that they won't have bugs of their own).

Hi all,
I update tonight CM10.2 Nightly(cm-10.2-20130906-NIGHTLY-p880.zip) via OTA and it almost brick my phone!!! The reason I update it coz it said it has a fix of our P880, but anyways.. I installed it, it only boot to show LG logo and then nothing (blank screen). I currently don't have any sdcard on my hand. So the only solution is go back to CWM, recover with older rom via sideload. Holy! It takes me 4 hrs to make the phone to work again..
Just a warning for you guys. Maybe it is just happen to me, but If you are brave enough, give it a try. I also found the latest nightly rom is 10MB less than the previous. so beware!!!
Hope it helps..

Performance, more customization, more tweaks? There are a lot of reasons. The fix is already applied to the next nightly and issue has been described on CM nightly thread. It's always good to have a backup or at least another nightly zip downloaded (even from CM updater) is case of emergency.

Thanks, I am not owning a Nexus, so I have no idea how do the performance, customization and tweaks can be done more from CM with Nexus's android. My sister has an Nexus 4, I found it is almost the same as what CM does.
Anyways, before I am getting into this Nightly(nightmare). I thought the CM OTA has a backup ROM on my device already. You will notice it that you need to manually delete your previous update. But after this happened, I am not able to found the previous downloaded rom from CWM (let me know if I am wrong).
You are absolutely right, it is just a nightly. It is also said use it on your own risk. So I just warning ppl who want to install it. I am not complain about it. Hope you will understand. I am still new to CM, Thanks for your reply and help =)

Yeah, I flashed an old nightly. I use CM partially because it's more customizable, but also because the OTA 4.3 kept bootlooping and CM10.2 works well (apart from this one nightly).

Hi,
I have no idea why it happen,
But if you have a MicroSD card, you can
1, download the 4th Sep nightly from CM webpage and save it onto your MicroSD
2, turn off your phone and turn on with your vol down button
3, flash the 4th Sep ROM from external SD.
It is the easiest way to do so.
If you don't have SD card or your phone's SD card slot is broken.. you will need to flash it from sideload. You will need a PC, USB cable, Android SDK with correct ADB driver etc. Let me know again if you get into this case.
Hope it helps, Thanks
