This problem is the same to me. Any one can resolve, please.

Move your mp3 file from sd card to system/media/audio/ringtones and then reboot the phone and the mp3 should apear in phone ringtone.

I've had the same problem recently, and I found this thread with a Google search (I use an EVO). I'm about to try the fix mentioned above.
Also, I've had this same problem with my music for some reason. Maybe it's the same issue.
EDIT: Doh! Found out I had to delete ".nomedia"

Thank you, just had to delete nomedia file!

You can use MP3 ringtones under WM5. Under 2003SE, you can use WAV or WMA. Though there is somewhere a patch that might enable mp3 ringtones under 2003se, if i remember correctly.
If you upgrade your ROM then copy an mp3 to the windows directory you can set a mp3 as a ringtone.

Ringtones

Hey I made my own Ringtone folder and I thought that all I had to do was just delete the original folder and put the new... now when I go to Ringtone settings it doesn't show me anything... can anyone tell me how to make this work....
Thank-you in advanced..

On your SD card, you should see a folder called 'media'. Inside that one will be one called 'audio'. Inside that one, create one called 'ringtones' and stick them there.
So it's SD Card>media>audio>ringtones
Your phone should recognize them from there.

I tried putting an MP3 in there and it didn't work. How are you "making" ringtones?
Nevermind... I'm a dolt. I couldn't find the name of the ringtone I put in there... Duh.

You can just put them in any folder and open them from an image viewer (Image Gallery, etc) and set them as your wallpaper.
AFAIK, the wallpapers are part of the ROM and cannot be changed.

[Q] add ringtones

Hello all!
i have Darkys ressurection 9.2 rom on my GT-I9000
aparently i have tried all sorts of things to get my .mp3 file listed in settings->sound-> phone ringtone list
i mounted /system as rw and pushed through adb both an mp3 file and a converted .ogg file into /system/media/audio/ringtones and i also made a media/audio/ringtones directory on my /mnt/sdcard and still nothing...
also they dont even appear on my (default)music player...weird ???!
i have also rebooted phone so as to make sure media scanner thing has ran.!
any ideas on how to go about this?
thanks!
cmon nobody got custom ringtones like that??
Standard rom path to ringtones is .
system>> media >> audio >>> ringtones
presume its the same in that rom .
jje
well that didnt work for some weird reason... :|
ty tho.
Could be the rom you are using then .
jje
- First convert your .mp3 to .ogg with a program
- Second open your rom with winrar in your pc, and put the ogg file in /system/media/audio/ringtones folder.
- Flash the rom and enjoy
or
-you can try to put in with RootExplorer. Don't forget to mount R/W
if you like that please hit thanks
aparently i have tried all sorts of things to get my .mp3 file listed in
Ye missed the mp3 bit i thought he was trying to put ringtones in not mp3 .
MP3 ringtone maker works quite well and has an added benefit .

ok this is so damn freaky.....it did worked just fine pushing it and i cant believe how i got it wrong..
apparently the ogg file and mp3 i pushed it had a filename of keyboard.ogg BUT for some reason what it was displayed in the ringtones list was the ID3 tag that this file had!!!and its tag was "get down" so i was looking for keyboard and i couldnt expect that its reading the ID3 tag......
so the ringtone was in the list since the first time......
sorry for the fuss.....damn it got me bad lol :...but hey it works fine
Why don't you simply create a 'ringtones' directory under sdcard and put the mp3 in this dir?

Custom ringtones

Does anyone know how I can geg custom ringtones on my stock galaxy tab
Sent from my SPH-P100 using XDA Premium App
Create a folder on your SD card and call it ringtones. Drop them in there and they are selectable, or use any ringtone app like Zedge (not my favourite but very popular).
Any mp3 or sound file you use can be used a custom ringtone. Simply choose that file and hit the menu button then set as ringtone.
I created a ringtone (custom beep) and when I move it to the media/audio/ringtones folder, it comes up as available for setting
Thanks

I have a SGT 7 with Gingerbread 2.3.3. I am not given that option.
I tried to copy an .ogg and .wav file I created in to the ringtone folder, but was denied. I also created a ringtone folder on my sd card and external sd card, but not able to use either of them.
Anyone have an other ideas. Thanks...
MP3 ringtone maker or tone picker on the market is good if you dont have that option

You have root, I know! So using file explorer from the market, change the destination folder to read/write (r/w at the top of the page).
All is Well

Ringtones

I used to place my own rintones and notifications in a map ringtones and in a map notifications and was able to select the ringtone i want. Since last update i can only select the default ringtones and mp3 from the music list. I dont want my ringtones in my music list. What must i do to get it as it was ?
What do you mean by map ringtones and map notifications?
You must put them on /sdcard/Ringtones and /sdcard/Notifications, but if you don't want them to show in your music app, the only way I know is to put them in /system/media/audio, root needed of course.
Yes i know and i tried it. As mp3 and as ogg file but they dont play or show up in my list of ringtones.
Before the update to v20c i was able to place mp3 files in a map ringtones on my sd card and files would show up in ringtone list, not in music list.
Somehow the update has blocked this option. Only solution now is placing files in music dir on sd card.
Hoped that someone has a better solution
Of course you've restarted the device after copying the files? And I am not sure if it works in the external SD, I know it works in /sdcard.
Ofcourse...

well it depends on what type of music/songs you are placing on the media folders:btw you have to set permissions for each ringtone to r-w-r-r or to 6.4.4 so yeah meaby is just permissions or unsuported file format

Well the ringtone is in mp3, tried also ogg. Files can be played with the default music player, so an issue with file association cant be the issue. Will try setting rights..
But the strange thing is with v20b it still worked, i didnt change anything on the mp3... after the update to v20c the files dont show up in the ringtone list...
Oké, issue solved. Was indeed rights issue. Reset whole dir to 644 and reboted.
