Umm...I highly doubt it. It is just a launcher. If you want Samsung apps and a samsung UI why not get the Vibrant or SGS4g?

I have no clue what qwerty remocon is, but the Nexus S should have the same DLNA compatibility as any other SGS phone so its just a matter of finding an app or modifying AllShare to work on the SNS

That is most likely true and it sounds like you need a TouchWiz phone :/
I like this phone much better than my former vibrant. I only asked because those galaxy variants have some great features. None would be worth going back to touchwiz proper and rfs and lag fixes, etc. Still, getting some hacked touchwiz framework to allow the installation of those great codecs and some of the apps another poster listed would be the best of both worlds, especially since this phone has MOST of the same hardware.

That would be great if someone could port those apps to the nexus s.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/12/netflix-releases-android-app-for-select-htc-phones-samsung-nexu/
I hope the Xoom is not far behind.
I hope they start rolling this out on different devices.
The leaked netflix app a while back now has a different error message saying that the device is not supported
I wonder if we can trick the new app into thinking we are on one of those devices to try it out for the time being.

Why would they not release this on tablets at the same time? That's retarded. I hope someone can port it to the xoom.
Surprising when I hit the Android Market web site and select install.. Not only does my Incredible show as a selection on the list, but so does my Nook Color!! The Thunderbolt, X and Xoom are grayed out.
I wonder if this app is built like the HBO2Go app (which complains about compatibility with the device on start up), or if we can pull the APK and side load it? (I'll have to test when I get home and power on my old Incredible)

Yea I was thinking the same thing (and the Thunderbolt too). Hopefully someone can try it out.
none of the device listed are multicore... fortunately the nexus s is not a qualcom chip based device so at least we know its not locked into a single manufacturer... i suspect that we will get it as soon as they roll out tegra support

D/l and installed Netflix apk. Everything works except streaming. Tells you your device is not supported. I wonder if its a simple fix. I'm going to look into it.

You can get the apk at multiupload. com/ NPZ062QIZB (stupid post limit, sorry)
I sideloaded it on my X and my Xoom. It works on my X, but the Xoom gets an 'unsupported device' error.
Cracked apk open. In the lib/armeabi file it lists 5 supported devices. They are in .so format however, not sure how to edit those. I'll keep everyone updated

This is trivial, but pointless. Playback will error out because we do not have the DRM it is looking for

There is an 'isdevicesupported()' function in the androidutils source file that they use to check compatibility, however my attempts to edit the SMALI code has ended in failure on my part I just get an app that crashes, and I'm too lazy to build the app in debug and find out why.
Genius in progress
I do say, indeed, it was no trouble getting the APK file from my EVO to my Xoom. Should any of you, Dear Sirs, figure out a non-destructive way of getting this to play on a Xoom, I shall ask the Gods to bestow upon you: the Sword of Light.
I installed on my EVO earlier and it works beautifully! Wish it would come to the xoom

iim right with ya buddy, can't wait.I'm surprised netflix already got as far as it did lol it was kinda out of the blue ..
So the official Netflix app just rolled out, and it works on our fellow HTC phones, the Incredible and Evo. For some reason, the Thunderbolt is not one of the initially supported devices. Any chance some devs can get this to work on our Bolts?
Edit: Here is the APK, thank the fine people over in the EVO forums.

This is confirmed to not be working as is, due to a DRM notification. There may be nothing that can be done at the time being, but we shall see.
Someone post the APK
Currently browsing the Evo/Inc forums looking for an APK.

Yeah, I am assuming it won't work as is. Hoping the devs have some sort of magic up their sleeves that can fix it.

Getting the same thing on the stock TB.
Also getting a notification about a License required for DRM.
sounds good to me! can't wait to test it
I would love to see some Netflix on my TB. I don't know if the apk will be any good to modify since Netflix servers may just be checking the client's device info.
Can anyone confirm that the apk posted is different than the leak? The leaked version I have is 1.01 build 740558.

Of course that all depends on what it check to see if its a compatible device.

Same as well. Latest CM7 on latest OTA radio.
I can't provide much help here... Running CM7 RC 1.2, latest radio. I'm not having any issue.
Same issue here
I am having the same issue, Hulu plus says the device is not supported. I found a different flash.apk from another forum that said it would get hulu to work, but no dice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
it probably doesnt detect CM7 as being a thunderbolt. sorta like we had to trick the netflix app also. it runs on mine running BAMF sense 3.0 RC5 but force closes. I am thinking some hack will be needed to run netflix and hulu+ both.
Wow what BS! I want to try it out to see if I can just ditch Netflix since they are screwing everyone!!!
Idea: What about modifying the build.prop to make the device name match what it says stock?

Its because we are blocking ad and modifying the hosts file.
you need to have adfree installed and hit revert to repair the hosts file.
Working now for me!
All,
Here is a copy of the Samsung Apps APK that I have modified to remove the touchwiz requirement. Just download and install. This should provide the Samsung App store to custom roms/GPE edition roms on your devices.
YMMV, but this works perfectly on my device.
