can't set a ringtone anymroe - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got a N1 running CM 6.1.1. One day a while back I flashed the trackball answer mod and ever since I've been getting the default ringtone. I've set it through settings and even used Ringdroid to make and and used the options to set it as default from there. If I go into the settings it shows that my ringtone is selected but when it rings I get the boring, default ring. My text message, email, calendar, and alarm notifications all ring with the sounds I set for them without any issues. I know it isn't my SD card either because it works just fine.
Anyone have any ideas? I can't unflash the mod either and it has been too long since I flashed it so I don't have a nandroid backup made from before the problem started. Just trying to get this resolved until CM 7 is more stable.
EDIT: NEVERMIND! The first time someone called me after posting this it magically worked like it should. It knew I was about to get after it!

[Q] Vibration doesn't work in Gmail

It's a weird issue. Vibration works for incoming text messages, calls, haptic feedback and unlock screens.
I just updated from CM 7.0.0 to 7.0.1 to 7.0.2 (I got the push notification before the "recall" was issued, but everything worked under 7.0.1).
Yes, vibrate is turned on for the Gmail account I want. I have two other accounts set up without vibrate.
I've checked settings, I've even downloaded Sound Manager and made sure to set "Vibrate All" but I have been unable to get this working.
Anything anyone can think of to help?
try to reset you phone

[Q] no ringtones anymore selectable

Hi,
I am facing a strange issue with my ringtones.
About 3 days ago I flashed the GoaTrip 1.9 custom rom and until yesterday evening everything was quite fine.
But as I received a call yesterday evening I suddenly had a bad ringtone, like a default one, I never heard before.
Even now on sms and calender it is the same sound which notifies my about a message or a date.
I can find all of the ringtones and notification-sounds looking at /system/media/audio. They are all still available on the device but I can't select them by the setting menu neither by the call settings nor the sms or calender settings, they just don't appear, I can only see "silent" and "default ringtone" as options to select.
Does someone have a hint for me what I can do to solve this issue?
I really want to avaid to go over the rom installation again.
I already tried "Fix permissions".
Thanks for any idea or hint.
Problem is solved.
The Media Scanner was not working correctly due to some stagefright tweaks at Blade Buddy.
After changing back to default and rebooting the system the ringtones are fine again.

[Q] Problem with rings extended

Hi, I have my new Nexus and I got round to installing rings extended, to find out that the notification ringtone isnt changing...
At the moment when I get a text, the tone that is played is a default one I picked BEFORE I installed the app, however a bluetooth notification plays the custom tone
I reinstalled the app and changed the default tone too and it isnt working
During the process, I changed the default tone while the app wasnt installed, and that never worked
I'm running 2.3.4 on stock rom and not rooted

When I recieve a text message I get the tone I set as well as an additional beeping

The extra beeping is like a door opening sound at a corner store, two quadruple beeps of the same tone played at the same time as the tone I set. I can remove the one I set but not the beeps (unless i silence). It was working fine until I installed some work software to receive work e-mails securely. Can't see how that would mess things up, but even so I should be able to change the beeping tone somehow. I have gone through the settings in the message app (3 dot), notification tone option removes my tone not the beeps same as through settings the normal way. Thanks for the help.
I just got my phone, and I'm having the same issue...
I get the sms notification sound I had set, and I get the additional beeping (to me it sounds like a fire alarm).
I've tried other sms apps (Textra ans Signal) and it's the same issue with them as well.
Have you or anyone else a solution to this?
For anyone having the same issue, I fixed it with a factory reset, and I didn't import any old settings. When I first set up my phone I imported stuff from my google cloud sync, and that might have caused the issue. When I imported my previous settings, it also installed all my old apps, so one of those apps could have caused the issue as well. If I find the culprit of this bug, I will post a followup here for anyone who also might experience it.
i got my p20 pro yesterday and have it update but dont have this problem
I had this issue. I disabled private space and it was solved. It maybe had to do with the private space counterpart of the Messages app getting a duplicate notification for SMS. You could try disabling/silencing it if you don't want to disable private space completely. Hope this helps.

[Q] Anyone figure out how to set custom SMS sound?

I changed my custom SMS sound to the short laser SMS I always use. Under settings, it says that is my notification sound. I'm still getting Skyline from all my contacts unless I go in and manually set each contact to the custom SMS. Workaround for this? Messaging has been the most annoying part of the phone for me.
Disregard, I found it under settings have to set general and new to the custom sound.
