[REQ] Serendipity - Captivate Themes and Apps

Hey guys, I put a honeycomb theme on my phone before realizing how much stuff I would have to do to make it look good. I decided to go back to the stock serendipity, only to find that it wasnt quite all there [lock screens, act stayed with the theme]. I was wondering if anyone has or could make a stock serendipity theme so people could simply flash that if they dont like they're changed them, or just wanted to go back. I ended up just reflashing the whole rom, and I know there is a better way. Thanks in advance!

Just take the framework and twframework and push it to the device. dont foget the settings.apk as some themes put that in too.

Can you give some direction (or link) as to how to push those files?

+1 for directions, I had to re-flash a few days ago, and i couldn't find anything on how to backup / restore the stock Serendipity "theme"

I'm thinking you dl the full rom. open with winrar. take out the mentioned files and then do an adb push command to your phone.

Look inside the .zip theme that you flashed.
Whatever's in there, copy over the corresponding Serendipity files, and flash.

my phone can not be detected by computer anymore after flashing this !!!!! help pls

Un-Metamorphing!

I used some metamorph themes and now I just want to go back to the default one that came with the phone. can some one PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make me a metamorph file that will do this? I'm getting really desperate and even did a factory reset, which did nothing except delete everything off my phone (i got it all back with my nandroid back up)... I really appreciate any help at all.
P.S. I'm VERY new so if you're going to give me advanced instructions please dumb em down a little bit thanks!

Basically, you should have nandroid(ed) before you metamorphed. Reversing would be doable by restoring that backup.
If you didn't, you could analyse what the metamorph packages you applied change and pinpoint them on your nandroid backup or original rom .zip, extract and make some reverse morphs...but I guess you don't know how to that judging by the thread.
to sum up, : \

What i've done in the past is just re-apply what ever rom ur using ex:cyanogen 4.2.14.1 over 4.2.14.1. That would revert everything without deleting your apps and settings.

I did the nandroid backup bt replaced it with a newer one so I wouldn't lose data which incidentally had a metamorph applied. And why would you suggest something and then just say oh i see you dont know how...
Sorry to sound snippy but people keep running me into dead ends. Thanks for the limited information you provided.

thanks I'll give that a try
shanicenicolle when you apply a new them rename your old nandroid before making a new one. Then when you want to go back just rename it to the right name and use it.
It's just easier than that:
Install the ROM again, thats it.
No wipe, no installing from some stuff.
Just install your romfile again and then you've stock rom. Takes only 5 Minutes...
I agree with Formel-LMS. That is the easiest way, it worked for me, but I nandroid everytime time that I settle with my rom with theme. Nandroid will set u back with every last pixel u had previously.
Good luck

I need quick help

I have no clue where to post this all i know is mine is a Hero and this is a Hero thread correct? Well I'm trying to do a couple things here.. First of all i want to know how to get rid of things I flashed? Like say I flashed a theme. How do i un flash it? or what ever you call that? Also i was wondering how to combine multiple themes people made together to make it more of my own? If that is possible for someone who's has there phone rooted for 2 days lol. I'm using the newest version of DC. Thanks
The easiest way to remove a theme is to restore a nandroid backup from before you applied the theme. Otherwise, you can extract the ROM that you flashed to your phone, find out what files the theme you flashed modified, and then adb push the original files (from the extracted ROM) to your phone.
Was that all the info on how to get the theme off right?

Yes. Unfortunately, I can't help you on combining themes. All I DO know, is that you would need to put certain icons into certain folders.
Okay thank you Also i just thought of the other thing i needed to know. How do I keep my apps with out having to redownload them all when i want to try out a new ROM? Im guessing its possible considering everyone switches between ROMS alot.

Axura/Perception Black Keyboard?

This may or may not be an easy question to answer but I am looking for the default black keyboard that is used in the Axura and I think Perception ROMs. I flashed both of those this week but am now back on Cog and I'd like to give that keyboard a shot and see if it will even work. It was a semi-transparent black keyboard I believe that had blue pop-up letters when pressed. Could I be anymore vague?
I'd just rather not flash back to those if I don't have to.
Thanks for the help!
Did you try to unzip the roms and pull the keyboard out of them? I dont know if it would also be part of the framework but its worth a shot.
This is my captivate. There are many like it but this one is mine.
I think it's MultiTouch Keyboard but idk where to find it for you sorry.
It's this one.

That does seem to look like the one. For whatever reason I can't get it installed on Cog 2.3B6. I'm guessing because it's not an i9000 based ROM like Axura?
I did try extracting the other ROMS and looking in system/app and the only ones I see in there are AxT9IME.apk, LatinIME.apk, and Keyboard-HTC.apk. I already have the HTC_IME MOD keyboard installed and when I tried installing the Keyboard-HTC.apk, it installed as the same HTC_IME keyboard with white keys. I also tried the Droid Multitouch keyboard which is close but still not what I'm looking for.
Strange.
You need to uninstall the LatinIME.apk (stock android) keyboard. This one needs to replace it. Can't have both at the same time for some reason. Here is the original thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754948
I tried to install it from the link above and had some issues. I got it fixed and here is how. (Granted I am on Perc.7 though). First I tried jist to copy the .apk provided for the multitouch but got force closes even after a reboot. I did rename the latiname.apk to latiname.apk.old and rebooted. Next I installed the samsung keyboard apk and lib file since I had issues with the force closes. This way I had a working keyboard. Next I used root explorer to again move the wjdblue apk and rebooted. Came back up and this time it showed both the samsung and multitouch keybaords so i thought I was good. Then I selected the multitouch keyboard bit started getting foce closes again. I then switched back to the samsung keyboard. I then went back into the extra lcted.folder from the link above, went into the lib folder, copied the libjmi_latinime.apk and moved it to/ system/lib and pasted, said yes to overwrite the current file, rebooted and wahhlllaaa I am using it right now. So it must need/know the exact lib file to match it. Hope this helps. If you need both the apk and lib file shoot me a pm and I will upload them to dropbox for you. Or just use root explorer and extract the zip file previous poster posted and grab them.
Cog'd Perception or Cog'd 2.3b6 depending on my need for flash addiction

I tried the blue one as an update.zip and got "Installation Aborted" so I just manually copied them over, rebooted and it worked!
Thanks so much. This is why I love this community.

every time I try to add something to the rom or change something like framework-res it goes into boot loops. suggestions?
Well it seems I can make the changes after the first boot. But if I include in the rom and install with the rom I get boot loops..

if you are trying to add in the modded battery on first boot, the only way i have gotten that to work is by decompiling, making edits by hand, and then recompiling. if i tried using something from the kitchen injected in the initial boot, it just bootlooped.
if you want this to work, you are going to need to learn how to use apk manager and edit the xml. otherwise, stick to just flashing the batt mod after the initial boot
makes sense
That kind of goes back to my original question of how to recompile that stuff so that I can do that. Well when I first started out on this journey.

its not exactly simple.
use apk manager to decompile the apk
make your edits to the xml and add in your images
upon recompile, you will say yes, it is a system apk
select yes again
then in the 'keep' folder you delete all the stuff that you just modded (they will be the original xmls/images in the keep folder, and will actually be replaced by your edits when the recompile completes)
delete the resources file
then finish compiling
it will probably take a few tries to get it right, and have some notes handy if you plan on doing lots of edits at once, but start small and only one small change at a time.

[Q] Icons

Hi,
This might be a very easy thing but i have a nexus one, running stock gingerbread 2.3.4 and it is rooted, i want to change the icons on the phone, like the ones which show battery, 3G, signal strength, etc.
If i can get icons and what do i use to instal it.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.
Ok well I did a bit of looking around and I found this thread that says that they are saved in framework-res.apk but the directory isn't right because it's a different phone so I took the liberty of looking for it and it's in /system/framework/framework-res.apk so just remove the file get a file from a ROM that you like and swap them (just make sure the names match).
Oh awesome, will try that and hopefully will work, will let you know how it goes. Thanks

Make sure you make a backup, you will probably get a boot loop at best if you just replace the file. It would be easier if you just installed cm7 and used the theme engine.
