I was just informed that the hardware only supports 10% increments, has nothing to do with the software.
Project is now dead...
Well, I thought this would be fun to do.
After backing up the entire system, so it is easy to restore if the updates do indeed check all the files, I flashed my deodexed build on and then did this mod!
I am not posting the modded files unless I get a decent response from just this info. Let me know if you guys want this!

well, its not wiping stuff on boot if that is what you mean. I was talking about future updates, someone was saying it hash checks all the files on /system before it allows the update.

Ok,
It says on a few of the Hero Rom to apply the update to the ext2 partition of your sdcard, I know I have an ext 2 because when I go to settings and sdcard it tells me the amount of room I have total, ext 2, and Internal. But when I plug my phone in and go into recovery mode to flash a rom I don't see anything that says ext 2 or anything it's just the sdcard. How to I apply something do my ext 2 partition? I mean how do I get it to show up so I can see what partition I'm putting the rom on. sorry if this is a dumb n00b question, but any info would get greatly appreciated.

I've never heard of putting a update on a ext partition. Can you point out where it says that.
THAt is odd
I don't use Hero, but would it not mean to upgrade the ext2 to ext3 by going to console (from recovery) and doing
Code:
upgrade_fs

Thanks, Maybe that's what I'm thinking of. I could of swore I've read on one of the hero threads, (maybe not even from this message board) to apply the update to the ext 2 partition of of your sd card, Maybe I read it wrong. Either way thanks for the tip and thanks for not treating me like a total tool for asking that question. lol

Hi,
This is my first bootscreen that i made. I called it Drawing eclair since i use the original eclair logo from google. They already make a good logo so why dont we use it
I tested this bootscreen GSM Hero with Chocolate Eclair and Vanilla Eclair, i hope it works on any ROM (please let me know). And I hope you all like it
Edit :

Hello I don't have a hero but wanted to try this out. When I opened the zip fle, it contains metadata for mac (the __MACOSX folder). Does this affect flashing on your heros?
PS.
I'll actually create my own recovery .zip file but i'm curious about that..

ahh.. different directory. You are right. After i re-flash my chocolate eclair and then apply the boot animation, it didn't work. And I found another bootanimation.zip file on system/customize/resource/
I added some lines on the install script to delete the file first and then copy the new bootanimation file. Its working now (I think...) Correct me if I'm wrong

That will probably work but there's no need to delete other files than the original bootanimation.zip or if you want it to work for every ROM the bootanimation.zip in all directories where it could be (did that make sense?) (Can't test it since i'm running Cronos Froyo...)

Is it possible to port this Mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778 to our Hero?
'Cause than there isnt a need to install 3rd party apps (akku or battery).
I hope u can help me.
Best regards.
Try this its on the front page of the android themes section. Its a theme convertor and should port it for you
i tried this method and got in a bootloop, luckely i made a nadroid backup
will try with some other frameworks which are posted in that thread
Yeah i also tried it and get in a bootloop. I hope somebody get it working.

I'll be back in a few hours, and see what I can do then.
Hey, I did a dirty fix til I've fully understood how Metamorph works
As always, nandroid/bart backup and then you can do 1 of two things.
1. If you've got ADB set up, fire up cmd (win+r cmd) and write:
Code:
cd \
adb remount
adb push framework-res.apk system/framework/
adb reboot
Make sure your framework-res.apk is positioned in C:\ or whatever the main drive letter.
2. Put the .apk on your sdcard and open up your favorite file explorer, copy it, navigate to root and then to system/framework. Paste it and reboot.
Good luck
PM or quote me if you stumble upon any errors.
EDIT: Ow, the color of the text that represents the percent is black and therefore blends in with the background. I'll see if I can find one with white text.
EDIT2: Fix'd. The new one should work, but as always be sure to nandroid just in case

I'm getting the same problem, I'll see if it's something related to the apk
I won't be able to do a port but I'm sure I've seen it be done for the hero, so I could try digging it up.
EDIT: It could be some kind of limitation in the kernel only allowing the battery to go in increments of 20 %. If anyone got a solution I'd be glad to hear it.

Here's the Honeycomb bootanimation, resized for the Droid Eris:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It's fairly large because I wanted to resize it without losing any quality to the actual animation.
Installation is simple:
Drop the HoneycombBoot.zip into your tools (platform-tools for newer SDK installs) folder.
In Windows, run (as admin):
Code:
adb push HoneycombBoot.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
In Linux/Mac, run:
Code:
./adb push HoneycombBoot.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
And you're done! :3
To test your new Bootanimation without restarting just simply run:
Windows:
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
In Linux/Mac:
Code:
./adb shell bootanimation
MD5 SUM: e316000e2b165271c0e5e813bfec7bcf
EDIT!: I had to fix the bootanimation, the Eris was cropping it, and since I don't have 8 posts yet, I can't post a link to it. Download is in the Attachments of the next post.
