I am successfully using v3 but have two questions. First, my NC "Storage" indicates that total internal storage space is 0.92gb and available is 812mb. Did I do something wrong; I thought I had 8gb internally. Second, what version of OC do I use: SD or emmc? Third, certain free apps don't show in market, such as Amazon. Any ideas how I get the this and others that don't show? TIA.
*bump*
Mine also shows .92GB avail and 800mb or so free. Any luck?
same for me...
There are several partitions in the 8gb internal storage.
Right now some of them can not be read by android. That's why only about 1gb space shows in android.
You can mount and storage any files in the partitions through a PC by installing an app, though android can't read that, as I mentioned above.
Some apps whixh, can not be found in the market, you ca try the app name market enabler. Or you can download the apk installation file from internet, and install it by any file manager

Alright, so I'm 100% brand new to the Nook. Infact, I don't even have it yet, but I'm buying it tomorrow (3/3)
If I'm going to use honeycomb on it, do I just simply pop in the SD card and it's ready to go?
Do I need to root it before hand or is it already rooted?
How do I get GApps and Market running?
I honestly looked around a bit but I'm terribly confused. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Also, I can't even seem to get the IMG burned onto my microSD. Win32 Disk Imager keeps spitting back that the SD card doesn't have enough space, but it's an 8GB card with nothing on it, so it has plenty.
1) No, you don't have to root first - just pop in the uSD card and you are good to go.
2) To install Market and GApps you will have to install ADB on your primary machine first (which can be a PITA). There is all sorts of help around to do that. I downloaded a script (search for HoneyGapps.v2 here) that did the install for me in one step.
3) From what I understand the image is too large for Win32 Disk Imager. I used WinImage and it worked fine.
BTW - I am loving HC - I've adopted it completely. My major problem is that many apps are not showing up in the Market, even though they were installed and ran fine on my rooted 2.1 system. I think it is because the Market does not recognize the device name under HC 0.4.
How do I use WinImage to do that?
Sorry, but that program just confuses me, lol
First you use winImage and click disk then restore image. Make sure you have all files selted when looking for the file to restore. Are you going to install it to internal or on a USB card ?
Trying from SD card first unless it's too slow. If I want to install on internal, how do I backup my original Nook data?
Also, I figured out WinImage, I'm burning it now. I used another program, but that didn't do anything when I powered on the Nook. I shouldn't have to do -anything- before booting from the SD, right? The Nook is brand new, I popped in the SD card and it didn't work. We'll see what happens after WinImage burns it though
The SD version is kinda slow and if you look there is a Honeycomb EEMC V4 install that has the google apps and other goodies Installed. It has all you need already put in it. In the post you will find all the links and info needed to install. You just mount your nook like normal to your computer and copie the files from internal memory.
here is the Link use the version 2 dated 2-21

Haha, I had just started reading that a second ago actually. It lists a lot of problems. Are those problems present in the SD card version as well? Also, is Froyo more stable?
I have been running version 2 for a lil while and it runs smooth. I haven't had any real issues from it. I put it on my wife's nook also. It runs smooth and every app I have installed runs with no issues.
OK, I'm gonna try the script for GApps in a second. Where can I find the drivers for the Nook? I already have ADB installed, I've rooted 3 phones before this, so I got ADB usage down...
EDIT: Also, where can I find info on partitioning the SD card so I can still use it?
Honeycomb is built for tablets and sems more fluid. All are really development builds. We will all be waiting on the devs and google for the actual honeycomb
Which are you going to do the Sd or Internal ? If you load the version 2 internal it already has the Google apps included.
I haven't found a way to backup my original Nook data before installing it on internal. SD card works just fine, as long as I can find a way to partition it so I can still use it as an SD card. Either way, I still need the ADB drivers and the one thread I found so far has a broken link. Boo!
If you install it to internal you can then reformat the sd card and use it as normal.
OK, but then how do I back up the current internal memory and I still need a link to the ADB drivers in case I want to run off SD.
Use my USB mass storage utility (see dev). Make .tar files of internal data and system content.
To restore extract content back onto data and system.
Of course, if you get adb working, make dd images of partitions.. more conventionnal backup than above..

Alternatively, can't I just have someone send me their files?
Bump? Anyone?
EDIT: Also, how do I get ADB working if I do the internal HC?

All your questions in this thread can be answered by doing a little work searching around... you shouldn't expect a personal tutor...
If you put a little of your own effort, you will learn much more than following someone's instructions.
Thanks man, that was helpful. I definitely didn't use the search tool before.

See? You're learning already then.
i know this has been asked a thousand times, but i can't find the answer after 2 days searching...
i'm using milestone 1, i flashed latest cm7 rom following a tutorial here, version number CyanogenMod 7.0.1 0.08-11.04.24 (Android 2.3.3) , yes i know that i need ext2/3/4 partition on my sdcard. so i createdd one fat32 5gig primary partition and one 2gig ext3 primary partition.
later i installed around 80 apps , if i open root explorer, i see in /sd-ext folder, 251mb used, 1.60g free , i know this indicates that app2ext is working (according to some reply in that really long cm7 thread)
but if i come to the manage applications menu which comes with android, on the downloaded tab, it stills shows that 96mb used, 101mb free for the internal storage. is this normal ? will i get the low storage space warning in the future if i install more apps ? ( all the apps are in internal storage, the on sdcard tab shows all app is not in sdcard. i set default installation path to internal storage in cw setting , some apps still install themself to sdcard however, but i manually move them back by pressing the move to phone button.)
oh and i saw some tutorials saying i need to type some mysterious command in console in OR, so i can move and link some folders to ext partition, say /data/dalvik_cache and some other folders. do i need to do this for cm7 mod i'm using?
thanks if someone could show me the correct direction. I'm totally confused by the massive amount tutorials.

I believe that CM7 does not send the dalvik-cache of each app you install to the ext2 partition. So you still take up space on your phone, just much less.

I have this problem too. And after I cleaned chache and dalvik cache, my internal storage is almost full
Hi,
I want to install a minimalist ROM on my nexus one because with cm 7.1 I cannot install that many applications due to memory full error. I am moving most of the apps to SD card but I still get error messages about no space to install apps.
I am wondering if there exist a minimalist ROM that leave for more space for user apps? The other question is, maybe I partitioned the cell phone storage badly and it is showing these errors, is there any way to check the partitions and how much free space each one has?
Thanks.
My advice would be to first go to market and DL an app called S2E. Open t up and give root access. Then check off 4 of the 5 boxes you see. Leave the 3rd one unchecked. Then press menu key and select reboot device. It takes a while to reboot but just be patient. I mean it could be like 10 minutes. This is exactly what I did. Of course you do have to have an external SD inserted. Ever since I did this I'm all good. Non issues AT all

And you need an SD card partitioned so that it has EXT as well as the FAT partition. Look around at things like m2sd as well.
Basically you want to make the system think that the /data area is mounted on the SD card and not internal storage.
Thank you for the replies. I just got some 110 megabytes in my phone without installing another ROM
Hi everyone,
I'm having an odd issue with my Kindle Fire. Just some quick background, I was running 5.1.2.1 so I flashed the firmware for 5.1.2 and then used Kingsroot to root. I then used Flashfire to flash my ROM. I'm currently using CM 12.1 that's found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/orig-development/rom-cm-12-1-2015-11-15-t3249416
So now on to my issue. I set up two users on my tablet, one for my son and one for me. I downloaded a bunch of games for my son including large titles such as Minecraft Story Mode (which is over 1gb). I started to run out of space so I decided to delete some apps. And despite deleting nearly every game on the device, it says I only have about ~500 mb of space left. It barely lets me install new apps (only if they're really small). It's almost as if the apps I deleted never actually got deleted. I went from having like 10 games installed, to not even having the space to download one game. I'm not recovering any of that free space when I delete apps.
I also tried moving some apps to the SD card using the "Apps" menu in settings. It appears that the apps are not moving over to the SD card. I'm just using the native features so I may give an app like Link2SD a try.
So does anyone have any ideas why my storage space just seems to get smaller and smaller? Is there some type of permission that's not letting me fully delete apps? Any help would be appreciated!
I have no idea why your storage space is getting smaller, but I had problems moving apps to the SD card as well. I use Link2SD and that works perfectly. You have to wipe your SD card and then set up a primary FAT32 partition and then a primary Ext4 partition for it to work.
Having the exact same problem. Did you find a solution?

- Space does not just disappear; use one of the umpteen disk space managers in the Play Store to see what's happening and remediate
- Link2SD or similar utility for moving apps to SD card (see previous post)
now i know i have asked this before but that was about 6 months ago. and maby now a solution has been found?
when i use link2sd it claims it has linked the apps. but if i check internal storage, 1gb free i link then 5gb worth of apps i then check the free space 1.2 gb free what gives? so i restart it maby it just hasent updated storage info no dice. so basicaly im sitting here STILL unable to install apps off the internal stoage. i have the sd card formatted to both portions primary ext3 and fat32. any better options?
no i dont want an answer "go buy a device that meets your storage needs" im not a rich-mofo im poor. i would assume that is why you buy these tablets and root them in the first place.

- last paragraph was unnecessary and certainly discourages a response
- assume ext3 was a typo; should be ext4 (although it probably doesn't matter)
- Link2SD does a pretty good job detailing what was moved to the SD card and what remains in internal storage
- the 'pro' version of Link2SD is needed to migrate data associated with an app
- the free version of Apps2SD (by Vicky Bonick) supports migrating app data
- Apps2SD and Link2SD are mostly compatible; you won't have to relink all your apps
- no "solution" is needed as there is not a fundamental problem with symbolic linking; just a little better understanding how the tools work

same for me. I cant move apps with any app. only with the xposed module "OBB to SD" which also allows moving app data and obb

The Xposed module works well for those who wish to go that direction. Not sure about side-effects and/or error recovery but haven't seen any negative reports.
Third party apps that leverage symbolic linking (Apps2SD, Link2SD, etc.) are fussy about SD card format which is likely where the trouble lies.
