I have a unlocked rooted nexus one and currently using T-Mobile..was thinking of switching to at&t due to service n area . was wondering if there is any rom or radio I can download to use att 3g or is it a hardware problem

If you have the T-Mobile 3G version, then there's nothing you can do to get At&t 3G other than trying to trade it for an At&t 3G version. Its in the antenna hardware, so it doesn't matter what radio firmware you try to flash to it.
Thank u man

Hello community,
I couldn't find any info through the Search, so I was hoping someone could let me know if a rooted Nexus One for T-Mobile would work on AT&T. I have the unlocked bootloader, custom recovery image and ROM, the whole 9 yards, but what I don't have is the understanding about GSM networks and how the modifications I made to my phone affect the cross-network compatibility.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
The two models operate on different gsm bands. An unrooted t-mobile n1 will work on att, but only on edge..

They are ALL sold unlocked in the states.
True but there's 2 different unlocked versions and what the guy above you said is true.

Rooting should have no affect on it.
And if its the TMO version of the phone you will only have 2g (edge) on ATT. Seeing as both networks use different frequencies. And the cellular antenna will only be tuned to pick up 3g+ signals from TMOs frequencies.

I think..
But AT&T doesn't allow apps to be installed via apk files. So no 3rd party stuff.
If I'm correct.

You are so painfully incorrect. At&t has no presence on this phone. Get your facts right before you post here.
a T-Mobile Nexus One wont work on at&t's 3G network. Only on edge. Rooting has no effect.
Now close the thread.

I have a Rogers Dream running froyomelt.Currently using it on VIVA in Bahrain. For some reason I cant get the 3g to work and i keep getting EDGE for data.I think the network operates at 2100 Mhz.Any hints if i can get my 3g working?there something about the Motorola defy baseband switcher but i am not sure if that is meant for my phone. Thanks
You can try switching radios but I know rogers g1s don't get as good of internet as tmobile branded ones

I'm using nikhil's we want ics Rom. With the newest radio. Phone is about a year old. I'm in Australia on Telstra network and reception is terrible most of time. I have compared phone to stock ones and there seems to be something going wrong with mine as others get better service and stays in 3g.

You are on telstra with the incredible s.
The Inc S supports 3g frequencies of 900/2100mhz
Optus has these 3g frequences, which is why we dont have many problems
Telstra has mainly 3g 850mhz and some 2100mhz. Your phone can only get 2100mhz, that is why you have no 3g most of the time.

Basically you are using a optus optimised phone on the telstra network.

Best answer ever, cheers mate.
So I'm guessing if I was to get a 4g compatible handset it would have fast internet yes?

Is it possible to add support for other frequencies for better coverage?
Any radios or something?

Hey, I ran a sense 6 telus nandroid on my bell phone so I could have sense 6 but since then I've been unable to get my H+ internet back. I imputed the apn info manually and was able to get lte back but it only switches between lte and 3g. Never get H+.
Any suggestions how to fix?

Use my restore back to android thread and start fresh using Bell firmware.
Thanks. I'll do that as a last resort. Just wondering if someone might have a quick setting fix or something?
Any idea why that would happen? I guess its not the end of the world but it's really the only thing not perfect with this phone

still haven't seen H+ come back on my phone. Seems like the signal isnt as good as it used to be either.
This is the radio i have: 4a.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04l
would changing the radio possibly bring H+ back.
Trying to go back to stock with hboot 1.56 has been nothing but problematic for me because i cant get S-off to work.
