Same here. Is there any way to port it over to the AOSP Gingerbread builds?

I dont know but probably its not very easy because it hasn´t been done, I think its necessary the htc framework or something..
I tried a lot of camera apps, I´m tented to create a camera thread, i tested vignette, camera 360 pro, camera zoom fx, lgcamera and none has face detection for example..

You're right in the Desire and DHD is the Cam from HTC, and without Sense Framework and Sense it won't work at all
I tried some thinks but without succes
It's frustrating, let me know if you found a decent camera app with face recognition and autoportrait.. but probably will have to wait for a sense gingerbread release..

Any camera app out there has a full screen viewfinder? Like those on HTC Sense camera.

There is no camera pointing at your face on the DesireHD thats why. The reason that the feature is still there is because the Sense 3.0 camera comes from a device with a camera there. HTC Kingdom.

Flash a sense 2.1 rom and you'll know what he's talking about.
When you turn the phone around it detects your face and takes the picture.

If we ever get the Cam driver, will be able to make on a Cm7/9 Rom great pictures like on Sense Roms?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
In theory, yes.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
Don't we already have the old sense cam driver?
Anyways don't know but interested in this topic...
But the Cam on Cm7/9 Roms is buggy.
That isn't Sense i know, but when we had had the Cam driver for Sense, why we cant use it for Sense 3.6 or 4.0 Roms. It is always Sense, and if a Sense 3.5 Rom have a fully working cam with the Sense 3.0 Drivers (INCs haven't Sense 3.5 officially) ehy it dont work on Sense 3.6/4.
Someone can give me/us answers?
I think it's not because of the version of sense but because of ICS.
Some devs managed to have the camera working on some AOSP ROM but the kernel for sense ROM is different.
Yeah its due to different versions like GB and ICS. But my cm7 camera was always perfectly fine.

That's only because of the application. I don't thinks it's kernel related.

Sense ROMs have always been better. The camera in CM7 was pretty bad, at least in my case. MIUI was only a little better.
Understandably, the cams on the ICS ROMs produced very grainy pics. Hope HTC release the camera drivers soon.
And I do not think this has got anything to do with the kernel, but please correct me if I am wrong

Hello all.
Did somebody came up yet with a better solution than Camera Zoom FX (can be paid)?
It could be nice to have something like FX, but with touch to focus, sharpness options and some video recorder (as a seperate app) which could do 720p (?)
PS. Is it just me, or is there barely any difference compared HTC 5 and 8 mpx cameras?
I mean, look at these http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire-review-468p9.php
try these
am using UCam ultra which is working fine with more light spaces. where as in less light you will be seeing blurred or some dark pixels...
you can go for multi lens camera also. its different and funny
Thanks, will look at it.
Miui gb camera. You'll have to trouble shoot to get it working properly, but after that picture clarity is on par with HTC sense's camera.

Also Camera 360 is not bad either. A lot of options and good (I think) quality.
Still, in low light the pictures are quite bad, but I think that is a problem of the phone, not the camera app (I have tried several, the same result).
I use camera pro app. Works flawless

I thing best camera app. - stock! But alternative - lgcamera.
In my opinion the "UCam-App" is the best

For some reasons, for all of apps above, there are glitches issue.
Ucam seems awesome, clean interface, useful features. Too bad it doensn't work, it restart right after I taken picture of it.
I think it's a kernel issue if Ucam is force closing.'Cause the app "use" the stock camera to take pictures. And if you're stock camera is buggy, a 3rd app wouldn't work. Tell me if i'm wrong

I get Ucam v2.3 force close only on Lord's IceCold. But works very good with Ucam v1.6.
JellyBean MIUI ROM ported for DHD has properly working touch to focus function with what seems to be the stock AOSP camera... It's a shame tho this ROM has many visual bugs, and using any other app that uses camera (instagram, barcode scanners..) is almost impossible as they give huge artifacts...
The question is, is it possible to somehow port camera used in MIUI JB ROM to AOSP ROMS and not f&^* up qcode scanners?

Can you upload it please?
hotfile mirror takes for ever to download (limit reached).

Uhm... I'am surprised i missed that
Been digging to deep i suppose ;D
I'm using Camera Zoom FX for about a year, haven't found the better one with at least the same speed.
I really enjoy using camera360

There are a lot of problems during the use of complex sensors such as bt, digitizers and cameras. The main problem here is the lack of information regarding the coding of these in relation to the device specifics of the IncS. We do not have the source so therefore there is no "perfect" use of these sensors in customized versions of android. Copypasta is all we have.

Hey guys,
So CM10 roms tend to have poor video quality (resolution and FPS)
So I am looking for someone to give ether a fix or a 3rd Party app that can record video at 640 X 480 and at 30 FPS
And since I haven't seen anyone else post about this, I figure I might as well post this in the general section so that it won't be mixed in with all the repeated and noobish questions of the Q&A section.
Thanks
Sparky
Edit:
This has been fixed, check 2nd post.

Hi Reza... What are you doing HERE?!
Apps you NEED if you are running CM10
Being honest, The current build of CM10 is not massively stable (panorama is just ugh...). So i'd recommend at very least you get a new camera app, and "Wifi Keep Alive" (as well as the standard Busybox, Backup, etc...)
I'd love to see this ROM updated and fully compatible with the Desire C! Unfortunately, I cannot do Android programming (yet) V-V
