Go to the cyanogen mod wiki and download the stable 5.08 nexus one image. Open it in 7zip and extract the music apk. I installed it and it works fine. I also removed samsung's sound player and music player through titanium backup and everything still works on my phone including ringtones and notification sounds

Are there by chance any other goodies that can be used from that build on the Captivate? I'm loving the music player.

Can you post a link? Also, how would I go about putting the music apk into the phone? Sorry, I'm still new to android phones
The link to cyanogenmod stable (2.1) for the nexus one is: http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/nexus/update-cm-5.0.8-N1-signed.zip
there are a number of apps (if not all) that can be straight copied over to our phones (or any HDPI device I believe) since the ROM isn't odexed. I personally use the stock music player and the deskclock utility (though trying to use settings or the music icon on this app causes it to force close).
to put any of these apps onto your phone, either read up on how to enable sideloading/non-market apps with adb OR use the Android Sideload Wonder Machine from Android Central: http://www.androidcentral.com/sideload-android-apps-all-you-want-sideload-wonder-machine
The music.apk file can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?lncllepwv1pr27b
again, you can remove the Sound Player and Music Player provided by samsung through titanium backup and everything will still work smoothly.

Thanks a bunch! Do I need to install cyanogenmod? I skipped that step and everything is still working fine
I just googled it, works fine for me. Much more functional, the samsung version doesn't let you explore your playlists, so I couldn't use it...
Stock works perfectly though.

no, you don't install cyanogen mod (there is no working cyanogenmod specifically for the galaxy s line yet). Simply install the apk through the android sideload wonder machine. You can pull out the apk's that you want FROM cyanogenmod and install them manually.
there are some apk's that you obviously shouldn't try with this same method (ones that are deeply integrated into the ROM like Dialer.apk or Contacts.apk) without a lot of background research into how to get them up and running smoothly (if it's even possible).
When I tried tunewiki I found it to be a little laggy when scrolling. Does the stock version have this problem on the captivate?

Get Eliot Stocker's Music Mod and Droid Shuffle. You will never need anything more.
Music.apk
I downloaded that music.apk file it was a zip unzipped dont see an apk file please tell me how to install that on my phone
@clownluv
you must be a troll...
Anyone notice something weird when scrolling through songs on the stock android music player? When I use the bar quick scroll to songs beginning with a letter, it would go to I -> O -> E
even though I'm on M or something else.
Yup it happens to me as well.
I think it has something to do with song names.

Me too. Other than this, this is a pretty good music player.

Music mod install

In the widget sticky topic they mentioned music mod widget. Just beautiful.
I searched on the internet and replaced the original music.apk with the one I downloaded from the net using root explorer. The file was in the system/apps
But I can't see those widgets. I asked this question in that topic but I get the advise to ask it around. Now here is the topic. I an sure more people love this widget.
Is there any way I can get it work on my x10 without importing another rom. According to some one it usually comes in a rom, so there must be a way to get it working.
please help with this, I can't figure it out by myself.

music mod only for android 2.1 and 2.2
This is not a widged, it is a normall music player(replace standart)
http://development.piratemedia.tv/
If you using 2.2, try to search Music MOD on market
That will explain why its not working on my phone. I will try again after se update to 2.1 finally...
I really thought it was for 1.6 as well, otherwise I wouldn't have tried it in the first place.
Thanks for your answer.

Phoenix Rising 4.03 and newer Gallery3D Missing Picasa

I have done a lot of searching to find this particular issue in other threads but can't seem to find the specific discussion.
I have narrowed it down to the Gallery3D app that was upgraded in phoenix 4.03. There is no Picasa selection within the Share of the Gallery app or the Camera app.
I attempted pulling the Gallery3d.apk from the 3.5 rom and replacing the newer one in the lastest 4.1 rom, but it didn't seem to work right. I reflashed with 3.5 and the old Gallery3d is back and Picasa is in the share menu again.
Let me know if there's a work around, if the new Gallery3d is in fact missing picasa for sharing, and if it'll be added, etc. I'd definitely like to keep up with the latest rom if possible.
Thanks in advance.
You need the mediauploader.apk You can find it in an old rom zip and just put it in /system/app.
Edit....you can dl it here: http://db.tt/VhwT6dZ
Wow! Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try it out tonight and see how it goes.
Helped me and I didn't even have to ask. Thanks.

FOR ERRYBODY HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE INCREDIBLE APPS WORKING...you should really take a look at this Galaxy S I9000 ROM I found with a black themed 2.3.2 market that worked flawlessly on the first try without one force close even after the cache had all my installed apps included....just trynna pass the success along y'all.
P.S. you have to download the whole ROM and just take the vending apk out.

Yes there is, it's installed in every stock rom and if you don't have it because you used a custom rom you can get it installed by installing touchwiz 3.0 from madteam.
http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/(port)-touchwiz-3-0-for-'cyanogenmod7'-port/
It contains a lot more than just AllShare so if you don't want the rest, just delete the apk's in app within the zip before you install it.
Just read the thread in that forum and you'll understand how that works.
thanks for answer

You can just choose the launcher on first reboot.
BTW, the launcher and other things in the zip are removable, just open it with your favourite archive program and remove what you don't want.
Glad i could help though.
