After updating to Android 2.2 the audio quality for mp3 playback has dropped considerably. Doesn't matter what sound app I use, Pandora, Power Amp, Mixzing.
From what I've Googled. It looks like there was a patch posted out on the web, "stagefright.zip." But I've read in some posts that is doesn't fix the problem.
Is anyone else seeing (hearing) this problem?
id suggest trying to reinstall it or something it has about the same if not better sound quality for me, infact only real problem i see is it doesnt show pictures for peoples texts only in contacts
Better sound quality here too.
But I also didn't roll any user data or system data from 1.6 up to 2.2.
I strongly believe that the reason I'm not experiencing any issues is because I did a factory reset and wiped my sdcard before upgrading.

not exactly
i'm actually having better IMO sound quailty from mp3 and audio but phone call quality seems a little bit choppier and also i can a weird ringing sound when calling others and i think a few have also reported this as well. i did a factory reset before update but didnt wipe sd. also i havent done that *228 or whatever it is either is that really that important to do?
Give it a try and find out how that works.

Ah HAH! I fixed it. This was a weird one. I pulled the headset plug while I was listing to Pandora and for just a second the sound clicked in perfectly. Plugged it back in and the sound came up sweet and clear.
Listening to Aerosmith, sweet emotion. Indeeed!
Nice to hear it works

So is there any way that any of the devs can make the Skype app with video calling work on the latest rooted OTA? I'm still steering clear of GB out of bricking fear.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
There is no more bricking fear w/ GB. It's stable and very nice. If you really need skype, then it's something worth trying out.
I don't necessarily need it per se, but I've been wanting to try out a non-fail video calling app. Trying to call some friends with VZW iPhone 4's and Tango sucks. It's great on my end, but all they hear is static and it's very difficult for them to hear me on their end. Thinking I might try out Fring and possibly Qik, and hope for better success. I'm just kind of assuming that Skype will be the best of all.
There is a working Skype with video apk lurking around forums...

Not for Froyo, it's GB only. Doesn't matter anymore though, I'm running Gingeritis 1.2 now. Based on the new GB base leak. Super fast and hella stable!

Thats actually false. Skype Mobile 1.0.1.1025 was hacked and worked perfectly on FroYo. I wouldn't leave FroYo actually for a while because it was only working on FroYo. The new 2.0.0.45 hacked version on the other hand needs GB so I'm on CM7!

Did that version support video calls? If so, I stand corrected, however after much digging around I was unable to locate that. Either way, I dislike two things about Skype. #1, it only makes video calls in landscape mode. #2, I either have to get a heads up text to tell me to log into Skype so I can receive a video call, or stay signed into it all the time and have that annoying icon in the notification bar, which I'm not willing to do, heh.
Yahoo is pretty good wit videos calls
I am pretty much a noob but I have seen several complaints about this. I have the stock Android 2.2 rom rooted. I dont know technically why this worked but I uninstalled Flash 10.3 update and uninstalled Netflix update. Redownloaded Netflix from Market and then applied Flash 10.3 update and appears to be working smoothly. I read one place that netflix doesnt even use flash but I cant explain why reverting fixed it

Never had this issue and this is a highly used app for my phone with 3 kids. Poor service / back grounded apps maybe ? Or maybe decrapified rom ftw?!
im gonna have to try this mines been choppy since day one
Does the Netflix app sense your connection speed? Considering your connection speed is constantly changing, it just overall wouldn't be a good app. I personally don't use it, cuz I don't like to watch on such a small screen. I get it with 3 kids, but my 2 kids know they will not be touching my $600 dollar phone.
Nevermind.. Ran smooth for one day then back to choppy. Even on wifi..
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
I understand that as far as kids touching them. I haven't every had a problem with my kids but given my back ground and the fact I run a small store and fix iPhone /android handsets its not a problem. I still don't gather why people are having issues with the Netflix app maybe its service.
I am having issues with NetFlix after the update
Just installed Revolt Rom 1.0 from the dev page.. so far Netflix is running smooth and the Rom is great. I will update if that changes..
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
Just FYI... the Revolt 1.1 has retained the smooth netflix playback.. MT whatever you did.. it worked! !!!

Revolt 1.2 Seemed to make Netflix play even smoother, however it could just be a placebo effect for me
Since updating to gingervolt. Anyone else experiencing this? Tried a few different payback apps and they all are doing it. Thanks everyone

Was it not doing this in stock, or did you try it?
Also, what res are you using? Are you trying to pump 1080p?

I had this problem is stock with certain resolutions and videos. It was always video format related for me.
I didn't try it in stock, though I suppose I could try flashing back to it to try... Used to do it all the time on Revolt1.5 without it doing it. tried some older vids that used to work perfectly but they have the same trouble. also tried qplayer, which removed the stuttering but added audio lag....
anyone else encountered this or could test it? thanks guys
EDIT: also, anyone know about flashing from GV1.2 Back to revolt 1.5? I knwo you can't go from RV1.5-GV, but what about the other way? HDMI playback is a must for me, my ladyfriend can't survive without her Vampire diaries....

If changing apps fixed one problem but caused another, I don't think GB or GV is the issue, but I could be wrong.
Have you tried using VLC Direct? It's flagship feature is streaming from phone to pc and vice versa, but it should work as a standalone player on the phone as well.
Trying vlc now but can't get local playback, guessing I'm missing something very fundamental.... New vd out, my ladyfriend is going to need her fix.... Thanks again guys
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
Vplayer seems to be the only one that works so far. Strange it was never an issue with r1.5. Anyone else having this issue, or am I the only one pimping 4g for films to play in HD? poor Verizon, used 22 gigs so far this month

For those of you having Bluetooth issues, make sure you didn't delete the Music.apk in system/app
Yes, I know the stock music player sucks so deleting it makes sense but it turns out Bluetooth can't function properly without it.
Restoring it fixed all my Bluetooth issues! Use a file manager to yank it from the Broken Out ROM zip and back to system/app.

Hey man, glad to hear it. It's so funny, Torque is the only reason I use Bluetooth! Guess we were in the same boat on that one!
Torque is great, why pay a repair shop $90 for a "diagnostic" when we can do it ourselves with Torque!
bt fix
That's a cool simple fix if you removed the stock music app.
But for those that may have other bt issues, especially after flashing beats, try pulling the settings.apk from the base rom and replacing the one on your phone.
Thanks to SPC for the fix. Link: http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/477937-theme-gingerfusion3-9-bluetooth-fixed-1-26-2012-a-4.html
Just don't use any of the files from the post as they are for the esteem. I can't guarantee it would work or what would happen. But my wife had this exact issue after I flashed beats, and now everything works fine.

My problem is a little different. I am Using Broken out 1.1; when in car Dock,Com.android.phone crashes after every call. While that in itself is a minor Glitch, It KILLS my bluetooth requiring a reboot to reconnect. Had the same problem with Gingervolt & gave up.
I use my bluetooth exclusively in my car and otherwise LOVE Broken Out 1.1
I have an idea i am going to check out later this weekend. But if anyone has any insight, it would be appreciated. Perhaps Phone ap is different
Well after some research I believe it has to do with Car Mode. While LG Car home App su..... Is less than desireable. Appearently When in car mode the phone app looks for it after disconnecting. when it deosnt find it Bad things happen.
I have been experimenting with different car mode & personal assistant apps. I think I will try my hand at modding mye own & see where I go from there.
I'm having issues with connecting. I've only tried pairing with another phone. Going to try and pair with a BT speakerphone tonight. I looked up that Torque app and it looks awesome. Would like to try it out but don't want to invest in the adapter if my BT doesn't work.
Phone: Lg Revo (vs910) with Broken Out ROM, supercharged, thunderbolted, and ported Beats Audio files. I still have the stock music app and use it regularly.
EDIT: The device pairs but will not connect. Trying Bt'ing a picture to a friend and fails every time.
Holy crap I am so happy! Never been able to get my BT to work on any rom because I was removing the music app immediately! Thanks so much!

Haha same here! Amazing how many of us did that and scratched our heads trying to figure out why BT never worked! Who would have guessed in a million years that Bluetooth depended on the stock music app...so retarded

Hey guys I am using a Nexus 6 stock and rooted with no xposed or anything like that. Just recently I've noticed that (after being told ive been ignoring calls) that NY phone doesn't handle calls well anymore. Now it wasn't always like this and I haven't done anything out of the ordinary either. I can place a call and everything is well but when I receive one my phone app 'stops' and blocks me from being able to answer or decline the call, any idea what's going on?
Attached is what i see when I get a call andddd the apps that are using root right now.
Actually just came to me only changes that have been made besides apps updating is me making a chopped mp3 as a ringtone and another chopped mp3 as a text notification sound, shouldn't bother my calling though right?
Any help is appreciated:thumbup:

i get that same notification on my phone but i havnt had any issues about missing calls or anything. my notification is just while i am randomly using the device. i am using a nexus 6 rooted and currently running CM12 20150210 nightly rom. i have no clue what the notification is about though.
I really don't want to factory reset after getting everything the way I want it but its looking more and more like all I can do? I'd rather flash a new Rom (waiting for the CM12 monthlies) but idek if flashing a new ROM would help I have no idea what's going in, any other ideas?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
I need for apps to not randomly stop working lol I haven't heard much buzz about this though so I don't think its a wide spread problem but I'm sure there are are other people with the sane problem
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
I'll be honest though about the CM12 nightlys. They are actually pretty stable. I havnt had many bugs or glitches besides that phone not working one. In the past devices I have had there were more bugs with the nightly but the nexus ones are pretty decent. They are still very similar to stock OS but some addons
I just noticed this today with the latest CM12 nightly. The phone app crashes on any inbound call, the report says something about a null pointer exception. Hopefully this will be figured out with tonight's release. I kindof need my phone to be a phone...
Hey okay so turn of events it seems like my ringtone actually had something to do with it...posting this to help any future forum searchers for this problem...so after I changed my ringtone the first time, it seems that the phone app had called it Unknown ringtone, probably to show that there was a problem as the ringtone I actually chose had a name, (I guess it couldn't find the mp3 to play when it received a call and so it freaked out whenever a call came through..but since that ring tone doesn't play with outgoing calls, that ability wasn't affected? Idk all speculation
Anyway after I went into the phone app and chose one of the standard ringtones, I called my phone and it rang! And so I changed it again to the cut mp3 I wanted and it rang! I'm guessing the problem stemmed from the way the no3 cutting app applied the mp3 as my ringtone...
Not to witchhunt or anything but the app I used was called MP3 Cutter by accountlab. The app has great reviews and does was it says but just a warning if you cone across the same problem!
