Hey guys.. wanted to share this with you.. I used this on my mytouch 4g and it worked really well.. I decided to try it on my streak 7 and it works as well! It will block most ads in apps. It works with angry birds, linpack and others.
Just get the file here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919040
and follow the instructions. I couldn't get adb to push the file so I just used root explorer.
Adfree in the market works quite well too. Requires root though

Gingerbreak.
I flashed my device with DJ_steve RC3 Room... do you still need to root the device?
I installed it on my S7, but it didn't work.

Just passing this along. It works on Cog v2.2 b6 (Froyo). Enjoy people! Enjoy! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TD0KBUAR
Update 1: http://www.getjar.com/adp/angry-birds
Update 2: Check it out on the Market. And it's still FREE!
you are awesome!
Which version did you download and put on mega upload.

I'm not sure which one this is. It's AngryBirds_1.3.5.apk from the folks at i9000. I figured I'd post it here since there is no mention on our side yet other than the LITE version.
could someone zip this? Megaupload is blocked here at work.. Thanks
Got it last night from a planet of apps...

The debate put it in the getjar market instead, the site is down, app is free with ads, there is no paid version

Works great on my Captivate running Cog2.2B6.
Thanks for the link!

They say the paid version will be available in the market soon. Rovio sent an email out this morning about it.
The FREE Full Version is now available on the Market. It's still FREE! (With Ads maybe? I don't see the Ads on my copy probably because I'm on Cog with ad-block.)

Been playing it all morning (Thanks for the link, OP) and haven't seen a single ad on Cog either. Not really helpful information, but a confirmation.
Rex thank you soo much! I've been looking for this since I woke up at 9:30 this morning and everywhere I went linked to the damn beta version. Even the getjar link from Rovio.com
I just picked it up through appbrain on my bone stock Cappy.
When I try to download it from getjar, I get the error message:
"Sorry, your phone cannot download apps from GetJar or any other site"
I know this is a lie, since I have been able to download from other sites all the time. I got this error from both the stock browser and Dolphin Browser. I tried enabling market access, and no change.

Just download the apk file from the Mega Upload (from the first post). Load that APK file to your phone and install.

I ran into the same issue on 2.2. Just go to appbrain and download from there. No issues.
Working great on Cog's 2.2 Beta7
Thanks

I tried superoneclick but the market fix doesn't work. Does Eris still work ?
anybody knows ?
I modify my own build.prop and copy with root explorer. Root reqd. That is all these apps are doing anyway. Better of u do it yourself.

Like many I was having problems with android market filtering out my NC because the device is not recognized. Today Amazon launched their droid market. It works like a charm. Now you can download most any app in market to the NC. !!!
You can also use AppBrain...

Looks pretty good. They have a ton of apps there.
You can check it out here.

Both the Amazon Market and Angry Birds Rio apk files failed to install on my rooted nook.
Do you need Froyo or CM7 to get these to work? I'm running stock using autonooter.

Thanks for the link. I didn't think to move the apk files to the /system/app directory. I'll try that out when I get home.
Edit: This could explain why the USA Today app didn't install either.
Amazon Appstore installed fine on my rooted 1.1. First try didn't work error:"Download apks are not supported". I had to uncheck and check allow non-market install from nookcolor tools. I can say that this amazon app is definitely an alternative to google market.

This is also what I had to to also to install non-market apps.
I've found that to be a good work around already in the cases where I can't find an app in the Marketplace I know should be there (like the free shooter called "Pew Pew"). Seems to make pretty good use of the screenspace on the Nook Color too.
I'm looking for the stock AOSP browser. I am on Bamf 1.5. I like it better then the HTC browser. Thanks in advance!
Id love this too
I'm gonna bump it even though I'm pretty sure the app won't work, I was gonna download an aosp rom such as cm7 but for some reason I can't find pdanet in the market on bamf 1.5 and I can't stand wireless tether and I don't have internet at my house. Guess I'll try downloading the rom on my phone and I'll be sure to let you know if the aosp internet app works

Wisenick look online for pdanet. Carriers are blocking tethering apps on the market.
Check out the link:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/04/29/carrier-crackdown-tethering-apps-are-being-blocked-in-the-android-market/
I think you can still sideload it.
I also want the ASOP Browser.
Alright I was able to get it to work, heres how:
Download this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16901155/apps/Browser.apk
Now I saved it to my phones SDcard.
I then use File Expert from the market to copy it to /system/app overwriting the old on. File Expert is able to do Root. Press menu > more > mount ReadWrite when your in system/app. Now paste it.
Next I tried opening it and got a force close. I ran fix permissions in clockwork and rebooted.
Works fine now.

I know this is old but thank god I found this thread!!!! I HATE the sense browser with a passion!!! I am so happy to have the AOSP browser now!
Does anyone have a copy of the latest AOSP Browser? The version in this thread appears to be old and lacking a few key features.
What is the best method of blocking ads on the RAZR i? I'm running InfiniROM which is based on JB 4.1.2.
Adblockplus was the BEST on my old Android 2.3 phone. On my RAZR i, I'm rooted and everything but it isn't functioning the way it should on my rooted device.
AdAway sort of works. My complaint is that it doesn't block 100% of the ads and when it DOES block them, there is a box saying "cannot display this webpage" in place of where the ad would be.
It this the best it gets until they compile adblockplus to work on x86 android devices or is there something I don't know about?

Thanks. I've had Lucky Patcher all this time and I didn't know it could block ads. It replaced AdAway's ~700kb hosts file with a beefy 1.3MB hosts file. It doesn't work as well as adblock but it's the best solution so far.

Are you talking about the one on adblockplus.org? Man, I really wish that would work. It currently doesn't work on x86 androids (the root functions don't work) and it probably never will.
The adblockplus android team is too busy keeping up with the newer JB updates. They're probably not going to bother to fix their app for the couple thousand or less RAZR i users when they've got millions of other users to fix other issues for.
Why not use Adfree? Works like a charm.

In adaway, enable the webserver.
I took all the default hosts files from AdAway, the hosts file that Lucky Patcher provides and another anti ad hosts file that I had and merged them all into one using the Linux terminal. I also deleted the duplicate lines with the terminal. This gave me an ~8.6MB hosts file.
There are sometimes boxes that say "could not display this webpage" just like there is with Adaway and Adfree. It's just that with this hosts file, less of them actually get through. I'm happy with this solution.
If someone wants to test it, use a root file explorer, backup the original hosts file, put this in the original hosts file's place, give this new file the same permissions as the original one and then restart.
This post is almost a year old now, can you maybe merge the updated hosts with the newer MoAB thread file (unless its the same thing?)
