I'm currently running phiremod nook V3 found here(followed the instructions too):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954902
I'm trying to get the OC kernal installed but can't get adb to recognize my nook. I'm guessing this might have to do with me not hooking my nook up to install the correct drivers.
Can I use this guide to get my internal partition back to stock software?

Thanks for helping a NC noob out.
Does your Nook boot at all? Or does it just stay on a black screen?

Thanks for the quick responses. Im currently still running phiremod. No problems with it yet. Just flashed the app fix.
I more curious if I went by those steps I mentioned above if I could get back to stock.

Yes, they would work, burning an SD card, and copying the 1.0.1 (or whichever version you want to restore to) zip file to the SD card, and flashing that.
As for the OC kernel, Dalingrin has a .zip file that you flash from Clockwork just like how you installed phiremod. You'd want the one that is for CM7.

Can you help me out with a link to that zip? I'm searching through all 56 pages and haven't had much luck haha. Only if you have the time. Thanks.

So I was looking at the right thing. D'OH!
So from my reformatted SD card I'll download this to root of SD with CWR
-Froyo and CM7 Only
DOWNLOADS:
eMMC:
Froyo and CM7 (eMMC installations only) CWM update: http://www.multiupload.com/IJK50K41GG
Power NC on
Install from SD
Select file and install
Remove SD
Reboot?
EDIT: Do I unzip that file or leave it as is?
Many thanks.
Do not unzip. Copy that zip onto your SD card that has CWM burned to it. The actual process of flashing it takes only a few seconds, not as long as flashing the whole ROM takes.
Got it! Thanks again for clearing things up for me. Things are a little different than my dx.

All I see are instructions on how to use ADB or to use CWM to flash to the external SD. Is there a way to use CWM ready CM7 for the internal flash?
Hi,
If I understand your question, you would like to run CyanogenMOD7 off the
internal memory also called emmc, rather than running it off the external
memory or uSD card.
Though a bit dated, I found this walk-through to be very detailed:

Hope this is what you are looking for.

It is helpful, however I am looking for a CWM ready version....so far no luck.
Hi,
The instructions in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960542&page=16
Are assuming running from uSD version of CWM.
Following other CWM install instructions you can end up with CWM installed
on the internal flash, emmc.
For example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971197
Minor issue to watch for: the versions of CWM that support EXT4, required
for CM7 also require a different kernel.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by CWM ready version of CM7... the CM7
nightlies are in a .zip file that is flashed by CWM running off the EMMC boot
partition. The first time you install CM7 you also have to use CWM to
reformat some of the partitions on the EMMC (to ext4), but after that you can
use CWM to update the flash each time.
ROMManager can also be used to download ROMS and start CWM.
I am in 'updating' mode, I usually download a recent CM7 nightly and
recent overclock Kernel on PC, then share to Nook using Dropbox.
On Nook, I download .zips from Dropbox and move to root of the data
SD card. I also have latest Google apps (GAPPS) in Dropbox or SD card.
I then use ROMManager to run CWM to backup entire ROM.
Then I use ROMManager to boot into CWM and individually:
Install from .zip: nightlyxxx.zip (Current CM7 version)
Install from .zip GAPPSxxx.zip (Current google apps version)
Install from .zip kernelxxx.zip (Current OC kernel, overwrites the CM7 version)
Then I wipe cache partition.
Then finally wipe dalvik partition - CWM freezes here.
Reboot and wait a while (5 mins) (I assume it is rebuilding dalvik cache here)
Often seem to need another reboot and wait.
Hope this helps...

Thanks, that does clarify things. I'm new at this and do it was a little confusing to me how to do it. In the captivate forum they're a little more forward on how it's done. I appreciate the help. I tried using the rc4 encore signed but it seems to stop at the startup with N color on it. I thought I formatted all the partitions properly. Is there something I did wrong?
Hi,
I haven't had the problem of being stuck at 'N', but I'm sure there are plenty of
others that have... it will be something simple, probably missed one step in install.
Perhaps check through the list you followed and try and remember if you forgot
one step, or didn't understand one of the steps.
My install no longer shows the "N" at all when booting, so I'm guessing that
there is a missing piece somewhere!
I get:
"Touch the Future of Reading"
Brief flash of "Loading"
Few seconds of sideways "android..."
Then an animated CyanogenMOD logo for more seconds.
Here is one (long) thread about booting problems, but there are other ones too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949699
Hope this helps,
Peter
Got the problem fixed. Had to boot to a different CWM and format as ext4. Now all is well.
Speed Comparison
I have CM7 flashed to a class 4 sd card and it seems a little slow compared to the stock elcair build. Does CM7 installed to the internal memory speed things up a bit or does the system still seem a little slow. I'd like to know before I flash to my internal memory.
It should be faster on the internal, logically speaking, but perhaps with the right SD card you'll get comparable speed.
I have a Nook Color that has already has CM7 on it, running off of internal memory. (I did not do the install)
I inserted my own SD Card and attemped to install a recent build but I cannot get it to go into the Clockwork Recovery mode to install the update. Even weirder, it will not reset the device, I can't get the previous owners info off the device.
I'm new to the Nook, but have had many Android devices before and have rooted them all.
I've tried holding the N + Pwr buttons to get it into recovery more with no luck... I guess what I need is help on either resetting this device or updating from here?
Any advice would be helpful.

Do you have ROM Manager on it? If not, download it from the market. (You need a SD card inserted when using it.) Open it up and the 1st line should show if you have CWR installed and what version. If not installed, does it give an option to install the latest version? I would do that first and reboot. Then, you can use ROM Manager to update to a new nightly....
Yes, ROM Manager is what you need. The Nook is a little different from other devices because Clockwork is run from the SD card during the initial root/install. To get it on the internal memory, use ROM Manager's option to flash latest recovery, then use the option to boot into recovery.
Thank you for replying. I have ROM manager installed and have tried all the Clockwork Recovery version available... when i select reboot into recovery it reboots, says loading, then says android in landscape... and just boots into android.
and just boots into android.

What do you want it to boot into and why? Does ROM Manager show CWR installed internally? You should be doing everything from there. Open ROM Manager. If you see you have the latest CWR skip down to updating CM7. Pick the newest nightly, include google/market apps and go. On next prompt, wipe Davlik only. Let it do it's thing. It takes a little time to download and install. It will boot into recovery, do the installation and then reboot into the new nightly. Make sure the SD card you have instaolled is not a bootable card.
Hi all, I recently received a Nook color as was able to create a bootable SD card running CM 7.2 ([CM7.2-RC0] MiRaGe - KANG) via Verygreen's size agnostic SD tool. It works great, but I want to be able to change the default theme of the nook. I have already installed Rom Manager which allowed me to install Clock Work Mod recovery, but every time I try to boot into recovery from CWM nothing happens. I see the linux penguin and text stating that "All steps complete, flushing caches again, Preparing to shutdown."
Is there any way to install CWM recovery from an SD-ran version of CM? I have been looking for a solution for days but each road leads nowhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You do not use Clockwork on an SD install...

ROM Manager has NO EFFECT on CM7 running off uSD.
"every time I try to boot into recovery from CWM nothing happens." because, nothing is in the boot partition, queuing to do.
I wondered if anyone could help me regarding the practical differences between the three types of CM10 install (EMMC, hybrid and SD card) - as in, does each method vary in speed, stability etc? I'd like to know which is the 'definitive' method for stable long, term CM10 use (as I was running cm-10-20130220-UNOFFICIAL-ovation using hybrid method, which was running perfectly for weeks, until one day it froze while I was playing a game, and now won't boot into CM10).
I'd also like to still be able to restore the original Nook OS in case I ever need to send it back under warranty; is this possible with an EMMC CM10 install?
Thanks in advance, guys.

I went ahead and installed the EMMC method. Runs smoother for me than either of the SD card options.
once you have recovery installed on your Nook HD+ you can make a nandroid backup and revert back to nook OS any time you want.

Thanks for the info. Is there a guide that details the installation process, including backing up the Nook OS?

There is not one guide that pulls it all together. Verygreen's native emmc guide tells you how to make his bootable CWM SD and flash the ROM, but is kind of sketchy on how to backup stock and optionally install the internal recovery.
I suggest you go to my HD/HD+ CWM guide linked in my signature and follow the below steps:
1. Make a bootable CWM SD per my new procedure in section 1a.
2. Boot to the new CWM SD and backup your stock ROM per item 1d.
3. Use the CWM to flash verygreen's latest emmc version of CM10.1 from his native emmc thread.
4. Use CWM to flash gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip downloaded from goo.im
5. Use the CWM to 'wipe data/factory reset'
6. If you want to put CWM on internal memory, flash my version of internal CWM per item 5 of my thread. (Optional)
7. Remove the SD and boot to your new CM10.1 ROM and register and set it up.
8. If you want to go back to original stock, use CWM to restore your original backup.

That's brilliant - thanks!
Just a quick query: While CWM was doing the backup, I got the following error messages:
"No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage."
"No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext."
Is this a problem, and should I be concerned?

It is really not necessary. You can always just wipe and flash the plain stock ROMs I have on my HD/HD+ CWM thread. It just means your installed apps are gone if you do.

I just flashed your EMMC version of CWM from your thread - I used the CWM SD card to boot into, then I flashed the internal CWM zip - is this the correct way to do it? It said that the flash was sucessful, but how do I now boot into this internal CWM?
Thanks, once again.
EDIT: I was doing power+vol -; I just tried power + 'n' button and it booted into CWM, so I guess I figured it out...
