I got my new Nook Color today, and installed Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 CWR for eMMC Update (2/25) on it. I get access to market and able to install and run apps fine. I don't get all the apps I have on my DROID2. I was looking for Facebook, Fox News and some other, and can't find. I changed my build.prop to see if that helped, rebooted, nope. I ran the permissions manager on ROM Manager, rebooted, nope. Any ideas?

Howdy folks,
First of all, thanks to Cyanogen for 5.0.7!
After running out of patience on the the hope that TMo would come out with a new phone to compete with the Droid, Incredible, Evo, etc, I decided to root my G1. I wanted 2.1 and A2SD because I would love to buy more apps from the Market, but my G1 just didn't have the damn space... until now.
So I rooted my G1 using the Amon Ra recovery and CM 5.0.7.
After I rooted, I installed the latest radio (2.22.32.02), flashed Danger SPL, rebooted, flashed CM 5.0.7 and flashed GApps. I didn't do any wipes since I had never rooted my phone.
When the phone booted, the apps did not show up. So I went back to to recovery, did a wipe and flashed GApps first, then flashed CM 5.0.7 and rebooted. Everything works great. Runs fast.
I took the advice of a friend and installed SetCPU (paid for it) and Auto Memory Manager. I've noticed that my battery doesn't charge as quickly and that there is some noticeable lag on the phone. I had my phone plugged in all night last night and the phone wasn't fully charged. I finally uninstalled SetCPU and the phone is charging properly again. Also, the phone is snappier.
My questions:
1) Did I do something wrong by flashing GApps before the CM Rom? Do I need to do it over again even though my phone is working properly?
2) Now that my phone is working properly, do I need to create a backup/recovery?
3) After having successfully flashed CM 5.0.7, do I need to Wipe anything (ie ext 2, ext 3)? During the root process, I created a 96mb and 512mb partitions. From my understanding, the CM Rom occupies the 96mb ext and the 512mb ext is for A2SD. Why does the phone only show 457mb of space? I thought it should be 512mb.
4) I backed up all the data on my SD card onto my PC before formatting it during the root process. How do I restore all my apps and such so that everything works like it did before rooting?
Thanks for any help. Will be donating to Cyanogen

1.Your fine, as long as you flashed them and they show up your good.
2. If you want, and it definitely can't hurt. It doesn't look like you will be doing too many crazy hacks to it since your still a beginner. It's also better to make a stable rom be your backup instead of experimental one.
3. No idea, try a repartition if you get any problems, but don't mess with it if it ain't brocken lol.
4. How did you backup your data? Did you use a backup app from the market? If so, download the app you used and put all the files from your pc back onto your memory card. Then, hit the "restore" option.
Welcome to XDA! Here is a mod for a black notification bar by cloverdale that I prefer to the plain white one. Flash from recovery if you like.
Thanks for the reply.
#3. I didn't use a backup app. I just copied everything onto my hdd. Am I SOL since I didn't use a backup app and just have to reinstall everything manually?
So your phone stores its apps on INTERNAL, and you copied files from your SD(EXTERNAL) stop and think for a minute if your apps are on A and you copied B, your apps are gone.

I messed up. What I wanted to say is that some of the apps that I had installed on my phone also had data/database files associated to it that it saved on the SD card (ie Aldiko, OI Notes, etc) Is there a way to re-associate those once I reinstall those programs? I re-installed Aldiko and it would not read the library db file so I had to re-download the books. I should have used a backup app. Well, live and learn. I'm going to re-install OI Notes and OI Shopping and transfer those files over to see.
Update: Well, looks like it didn't work. OI Notes and OI Shopping doesn't read the files I had created before rooting. Should have use a backup program.
Which is better: Titanium or Mybackup Pro?
Is anyone else having problems installing Google SkyMap after upgrading to CyanogenMod 6? Is this a Froyo thing in general, or just a problem with CM6? Or is it just me? Any ideas on how to resolve this would be much appreciated.

Im actually having the same problem. Did you ever find a solution?
Same thing here, I have not been able to get it installed using Eugene's kanged Froyo and now same issue with Cyanogen 6.0.0.0
Had this issue on my gf's droid incredible, it was the test 8 version of cm6, I wiped and put it to RC3 and skymaps installed just fine.
CM6 kills my phone so I'm still on 5.0.8
The latest CM6 on G1/Dream, can't install Google Sky Map. The rest of apps were installed fine.
BTW, initially I couldn't install anything until I wiped my phone (upgraded from CM6-RC).

same here......im thinking its a froyo problem........
I had no problem installing it, though I may have done it while running RC3.
I have Chromatic 4.5 which is based of CM6 stable and Google SkyMap installed and runs OK.
So I don't think it's a froyo problem.
I've had a few apps not install on CM6 Sky Maps being one of them. The fix i found that worked for me was:
1:set preferences to install to internal memory
2:unmount the SD card
3:install the apps
4:remount SD
5:move apps from internal to SD.
Like I said it worked for me, your milage my vary.

Tried this and I could indeed install it, Only I wasnt able to move it to my SD-card. I take it you moved it via settings>applications>Google Sky Maps>move to sd-card

first, i would like to thank the people who continously makes everything possible. i got my nook rooted to 1.0.1 and overclocked to 1.1ghz and work smooth. added a launcher and it seem fine. however, i saw in the nook tools that there is this 1GB phone storage or so it seem aside from the 5gb storage.i know that the nook has 8gb in it and part of it is used in its system. now my question is could we INSTALL AND RUN applications in the SDcard?i noticed everytime i install an apk it directly affects the 1GB internal storage. is there a way to the latter? ive already searched the Nook forum here and could not find anything about it.Thanks in advance

In default Android versions running apps from SD (apps2sd) was added in versions 2.2/FroYo and thus why you see with the stock shipped 2.1 version all apps instll and run from the internal memory... in our current 2.2 Custom version apps2sd is working but I choose to only run 2.2 completely from fast (class 10) sdcard and at least for now keep the stock 2.1 available on the internal memory, but there are instructions to run the 2.2 from internal memory for the adventerous now...
oh, so that explains it. ok, thank you! for now ill be sticking to the 2.1 stock rom with zeam until i get feedbacks from the new stock 1.1 update. one last question, is BN 1.1 update already the froyo 2.2?
Hi All,
I am running Phiremod 5.1 on my nook color. I purchased it with the 1.1 firmware already installed.
I love my set up except that now, I cannot access the library and magazines that was in the stock rom. I can see the files but when I try to read them it is not the same (1.e. Magazines are not in the print view but just the text epub version) What can I do? I would like to keep phiremod in tacked if possible.
Your only option for what you are talking about would be to restore rooted stock 1.1 to eMMC and boot phiremod/CM7/etc. to SD.

Okay. Thanks! I was hoping you would tell me that I could run NookColor stock off of an SD card. I will just leave it the way it is.
So i did something pretty dumb here and need some help getting the Andorid Market App back. Let me explain what I did:
1. Started with a stock Nook Color 1.2.0 - registered the B&N.
2. Followed the "ManualNooter 4.5.6 (For Stock 1.2)" in the dev forum to root my nook (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054027).
Worked like a charm, Nook was now rooted and everything was working, Market was working, all was good... until I did this:
I boot the nook into recovery mode, which booted up the Clockwork-3.0.2.8 recovery menu. I had the latest Google App zip (gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip) on my SD card and went through the process to install it. It installed and now my Market App is missing. How can I get that back?
The reason I did this was I thought I was installing it to the SD card itself, and not the internal nook memory (I have CM7 running on my SD card). OOPS!!!!
Any advice how to get my Market App back would be GREATLY appreciated!
I fixed it!! Yahoo!
All I did was re-ran the entire ManualNooter 4.5.6 process again. Looks like it put back what I messed up and didnt mess up anything else. Market is back and working and all my apps and everything works!
Time to go back up my Nook incase something else happens!
