If it doesn't work, Post the service.jar from that rom & I'll fix it when I can.
I'll be posting Dead horse Kernel that works with any 2.2 & 2.2.1 rom as well shortly.

There isn't one, you just have to dl the whole rom and flash it. You then have the option it flash a new rom that doesn't include a kernel or you can adb push the kernel and zimage to your rom. Its really easy but there is no flashable zip to my knowledge.

I will attempt to update this theme tonight after work. I am working on including animated transitions as well as change some more pngs. Potentially crack out a non-festive theme as well. We shall see about the latter. In any case, look for an updated post tonight hopefully.
P.s - mods this is not a coming soon thread, as I have intentions to release tonight, let alone thirty days k thanx bye

Oh okay, so right now I"m running Epic Experience and Phoenix kernal. To get EE with Baked snack kernal the steps would be this for me?:
1: Nandroid backup.
2: Wipe everything
3: Flash B.Sv1.3
4: Reboot
5: Wipe everything again
6: Flash EE rom
7: Advanced Restore Data Only
8: Reboot
9: Flash Halloween Theme
10: Reboot.
And i should end up with Epic Experience ROM running Baked Snack Kernal with Halloween Theme, right?

Should be fine, but I never used advanced restore. I did this.
Wipe everything
Install baked snack 1.3
Wait till boots fully, boot back into recovery
Wipe again
Flash epic experience
Reboot.
Let load again, then boot into recovery last time.
Flash theme.
Reboot and enjoy
Should work great, check in system info to be sure, will say using 1.3 kernel. Use oc widget or setcpu in order to oc 1.3 ghz. Batt life is awesome even at that.

Download any kernel. Then download baked snack. Take the kernel out if baked snack and place it in the zip of the kernel you downloaded. Now you can just flash the kernel instead of flashing 2 roms for one kernel. You won't have to restore anything afterwards

2. Download the rom as it comes with the kernel.
3. Download any kernel from the wiki also. It didn't matter.
4. Explore the baked snack zip with any manager. No need to extract (i use 7zip)
5. Goto the kernel_update and copy zimage
6. Explore the zip of the kernel you downloaded. Goto the kernel_update.
7. Paste the zimage and let it replace the old zimage
8. Put the modified zip on your sd card and flash the CWM

DO NOT use ROM manager, it was created with the best of intentions but ultimately causes more problems than it helps with.

whoah.....this is false!
ROM manager has been around a lot longer than the captivate has.....and it works great on other android devices that ARENT samsung
rom manager is PERFECT for stock roms.
rom manager is bad when you have ClockworkMod built into the kernel already.!
ridethelight is on a bad roll today.
So how do i know if its built in?
Perfect 3g..little to no edge.. live in edge area.. bought the phone from a craigslist user needless to say in a 3g area.

you would check out the page for your kernel but yes it does have it.
and looking at your rom... ect. you have already flashed a rom/kernel/modem (all in one) package.
so ya go back to post 3 instructions. also to get into recovery just long press the powerbutton then press 'recovery' it is easier than the button method in post 3.

Porting a rom

I want to know if anyone out there knows how to port a rom from the Samsung vibrant. The rom is called simply galaxy v2.7.2, it is a very fast rom. Here is the link:http://www.multiupload.com/PJIZ8D3PT6
Please reply back ASAP and thank you in advance
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
not sure if its the same rom or not but there already is a simply galaxy for the captivate, you would have to see who makes each rom
Its not to difficult to get one to work but it breaks a few features between the two phones i think
Thank you but I don't think the rom your talking about is completely stable. Plus the rom that I posted was constantly updated. Please if you can port, then let me know. Or can you find someone who can.

'porting' it would require you to download the rom zip
open rom zip with 7zip (do not extract)
open up a kernel zip that you want to use (must match 2.1, 2.2, or 2.3 to corresponding rom version)
drag n drop zImage from the kernel zip into the updates folder in the rom zip
do the same thing with modem.bin file from a modem zip
if you want the phone to be recognized as an sgh-i897 you need to open up /system/build.prop with notepad (i use notepad++ for everything on windows boxes) and make all references to T959 say i897

[Q] ROM Manager Free not in the Market?

I just ODINed back to I897UCJF6 2.1update1 eclair on my captivate and I want to flash some custome roms again. I have flashed multiple roms for example (Firefly,Cognition) but now I cant seem to find the Rom Manger Free app in the market?
I have tried the following:
Market Enablers
Appbrain Market
Sideloading apk (this works but cant connect to clockwork server error)
The only thing i am able to download is the premium rom manager which is just a license.
Any help?
Im running out of ideas here thanks!
Don't waste your time with Rom Manager. Flash a kernel with cwm or load the update.zip with cwm and go from there. Not sure where the update.zip is anywhere but should be somewhere.
Rom manager is completely unnecessary for the captivate
this is the file you need
How do you get Clockworkmod recovery installed with out Rom Manager? I can't see it i the market either.
Wow just wow..... Sticky guide I usually say use the search button, but geezuz christ it would be a good idea to read the stickies on dev, Q&A and General.....

Thanks for the guide. Using Rom Manager is the easy way to get CWM installed, but if you totally mess up your cappy like I did, that guide helped me out a lot.
Flashing ODIN 1 click stock, and then following the guide. I had to use Heimdal to get it on but now that I have all the necessary files i can break and rebuild a cappy in 10 minutes. (got a jig also, miracle device, just Ebay'ed Captivate Jig)
Hey guys. I'm sorry to ask. I'm traveling and don't have allot of time. I'm an experienced HTC user my buddy has a rooted cappy but no cwm. I know very little about Samsung. Can I just flash that update zip? The phones on 2.1 and I want to put gingerbread on it. Thanks in advance.

You can use that update zip, but you need new bootloaders for GB. Flash one of the odin/heimdall packages found here. After that just flash a kernel with cwm baked in with odin/heimdall and flash w/e rom you want. Reminder flashing bootloaders can hard brick the phone if connection is lost at the wrong moment or you mismatch bootloaders. Just flash a package that includes them and you should be good. Make sure your cable is good and so forth.. Good luck

[ROM] (final) CM7 ZUES with revamped and halo lockscreen

New cm7 framework added in for the new halo lock screens and camera. This will probably be my last rom. Getting pretty busy with to many roms, work, and a slow computer.
I used Atrix cm7 rom to port it to our device.

Thanks to all the other developers in the sgs2 and atrix forums. My base file is stock gingerbread modding tricks from several developers. You can use most gingerbread kernels with this rom.
Must have cwm recovery to install. This install does not erase data but always remember to manually delete data if you are not coming from a CM7 based Rom... and backup your data and rom
HOW TO INSTALL
Prerequisite: You must be running an atrix with CWM.
1) Download SuperOSR ROM and place it on your SD card.
2) Power off your phone.
3) With the phone powered off, hold volume button down and the power button until you see fastboot and push volune down until, you, get to recovery. Then push volume up. This should boot you into CWM.
4) Select "wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe advanced/dalvick".
5) Select "install zip from sdcard" and navigate to and select rom
6) Once done click Reboot System Now
I am not responsible for what you do to your phone. Use at your own risk.

Thanks a lot for new rom.
Does this support fingerprint reader as well?
As fp reader is supported by cm7,can you confirm ?
Thanks again.
Is the lockscreen just an app like widgetlocker or is it actually integrated into the framework?

After choosing "Lockscreen style: Ring" go to "Ring-Lock Style" and choose "Holo". I think the OP just made a typo.
This was a pleasnt surprise for those of us who were building a working FP cm7 from source.
Looks great, I can't wait to try it out. Only thing is, neither of the DL links are working for me...using Google Chrome. I'll try firefox I guess...
EDIT: Firefox doesn't want to load the file either. Dang, I really wanted to try this before XDA goes dark tomorrow
