really great app. surprised no ones posted about it. i see there has been updates in a while cuz there looking for devs to help. one problem i have is my phones apps only show up if i have an app moved using the system move to sd, i use link2sd. when i view system apps they all show.
Nice app. Everything works well except the sms-tab. I allways get an error.
But I have one question: what setting does this app modify on my phone when i toggle wifi connection? It works, but when i toggled wifi, I cant swith back to usb-connection and also cannot mount my SD to windows anymore..

good one mate I use this app for one year or so, and it's amazing
Finally... exactly what I was looking for.
Can't thank you enough for posting this. I've been rooting around for a good all-in-one toolbox for a while. Blows DroidExplorer, etc., out of the water.
Any possibility you could add some more tags to improve other's chances of finding it? I'm certain there are lots more folks looking for exactly this kinda tool.
hey so this seems like a good use of getting around some bugs for usb mount... but quick question, im trying to open the QtADB.exe file, and then it asks me for the path to adb and aapt binaries. I've installed the adroid-sdk package, so where do I point the directory to? my android sdk path is on c:/-program files (x86)- Android. The FAQ doesn't really help in answering questions...
awesome tool!
wifi connection doesnt work.. i downloaded the apk and tried connecting but didnt work..

Point it to the exact directory in which adb and aapt are found should be something like c:/program files (x86) - android/tools

Ok, first off I start the app thinking it was an installer. Tells me no device is connected.
I assume the the app is now shut off since there is no indication of it running.
I plug in my phone and turn on debugging and then I get a window that says
'adb' is not a valid integer value. Then something about my adb server is out of date. Beats me what this supposed to mean.
I attempt to click the X on the warning message and it keeps poping up. So I used task manager to kill it.
WindowsXp SP3.
DroidExplorer works
Out of all seriousness I like your slim and mean approach. Just doesn't seem to work on my machine.
looks like I need a newer SDK

Seems to work fine for me (wit the latest sdk)
thanks for the app, will make things a little easier for me during fresh flash's

You get this message if you have an adb server running (like from droid explorer) that is a different version then you are trying to start "right now". Droid Explorer uses 1.6r3 with the current install, the next release has 1.6r4.

Out of curiosity, what is the app doing that "requires" busybox. With Droid Explorer, I use busybox's ls command because the stock one sucks and doesn't display all the information when doing a ls -lF, plus i dont think it supports --color=always

Woah! you actually did a fresh install of windows to get this app working?
anyhow, if you open a command prompt and type "adb devices" what does it output.
Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled on the device. Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging
Thanks camalot for your help, you are good guy. And also THX to you UpGrad3 (you are first ).
BTW new version soon
hmmm doesn't seem to work well with a multi-monitor setup or maybe some other issue.
When I start it with the phone not plugged in I get the Device not found off to the edge of the monitor. (APK Manager shows on the taskbar)
Connect the phone and Refresh and it's found and click OK.
Then your app disappears... nothing the the taskbar but if I check Task Manager it's running.
Little help please
Oh yeah WinXP SP3

I have done a clean install of cyanogen 4.2.9.1 cause i had too much stuff on my fone so i thought id clean it up a little bit and since that android commander is not working again so its something to do with my phone does anyone kno what may be wrong ? thanks.
new version available
this program is so strange for me if i do a clean install of cyanogen it doesnt work well version 0.5 didnt and after a day or two when i have lots of apps installed to the phone it works i dont understand and now the latest version 0.6 doesnt work but it works in the places 0.5 didnt e.g. it allways opens up no matter what even on clean install so this has been improved only now it doesnt detect my phone when connected i have attached screenshots to help me explain they are here:
when i open the program i receive this message:
and when i click ok it opens like this:
please fix this cause i really like this program and appreciate ur work
as i said before, it's not program problem. this error showing because of program can not read informations form your phone. many people had issues like you (also on different forums), and every time problem was with SDK/ADB.

Looks awesome. I wish that my PC (or my brain) wasn't broken.
I haven't been able to get ADB (of any kind, from any source) to run on my win7 64 bit machine...ever. I've had the SDK installed for a while now and have tried several times to get ADB working- today is no different.
Try the adb setup link in my sig!
But you don't need to know how to use adb to use this program
Edit: I got it. The link in your sig is what saved me. Checking this out now. Thanks!!

Trouble getting hard adb root on Captivate GB 2.3.5 ROM
Android Commander 0.7.9.9 at http://androidcommander.com/ xda link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597098
I have a Samsung Captivate running a modified stock leaked GB 2.3.5 One flash ROM that has been Fugu rooted. TiBU, Rom Toolbox and other Super User apps all work.
So this program by PanPiotr looks like just what the noob in me is after, and I'm sure a few others out there too.
Once installed the program seems to be fine. I have one problem that I can't seem to overcome. That is getting a hard or adb root on the phone. I have tried to follow the instructions of PanPiotr but I don't have a boot.img file in my nandroid BU as outlined in his FAQs. Only cache.img, data.img, sd-ext.img and system.img I can use unyaffs-windows to extract the files in these but the default.prop appears to be calling to be loaded from ro.com.google.clientidbase=android-samsung, which I can't seem to find.
I can modify the default.prop ro.debuggable=0 to =1 with root explorer but just doing it in the root doesn't help. I can't seem to find out which IMG file in my nandroid BU has or how to modify the default.prop file loader to get the ro.debuggable=1 to take or stay.
Consequently the Root Access indicator always says Root Access:NO
Any help would be appreciated.
TYIA
Bud
May have this worked out.
So I flashed a custom rom and kernel. Connected Android commander to phone and I have Root access:OK. Program works great. Thanks PanPiotr.
On the brighter side of all this while in recovery mode of the new kernel (CornKernel_UCKJ3_v403) I found a way of switching the toggle for debugging enabled to on if that kernel works with the rom I was on then that will work. It should so I'll give that a try and let you know.
EDIT:
So I just finished and this worked brilliantly. Hope it helps someone else.

Flash at your own risk. I am in no way responsible for any damage done to your device. This will wipe your entire device except the EXTERNAL sdcard.
If you are using Windows make sure you have installed the APX drivers before continuing.
Nvflash Windows Drivers
md5sum: 9aa3a4814ca63366329d85a22ed01f64
To boot into APX mode
1. Power off
2. Hold down the Vol - and the Vol +
3. While holding the Volume keys down, Power on
4. The display should go black, and both LED's on either side of the home button should light up. This is APX mode. If using Windows make sure the drivers are installed
Instructions
Windows
1. Extract the K1_Stock_120109_nvflash_R2.zip contents to a directory
2. Double click the "flash-windows.bat" file
Linux
1. Extract the K1_Stock_120109_nvflash_R2.zip contents to a directory
2. Open a terminal and cd into the extracted directory
3. Copy and paste the following command
Code:
chmod a+x ./flash-linux.sh && chmod a+x ./files/nvflash
4. Run either
Code:
sudo ./flash-linux.sh
or from a root prompt
Code:
./flash-linux.sh
CWM Controls
Power = Back (Any submenu), Toggle Display (Main Menu),
Vol+ = Highlight Up
Vol- = Highlight Down
Home = Select
To boot into recovery
You can now use the built in app or widget to reboot to recovery
**Superuser may crash during the first couple of reboots to recovery. Dont worry
Or run 'k1recovery' from the terminal or adb
Notes
If you try to flash any of the OTA update.zip's, it will probably work, but you will be shut out of CWM and will not be able to get back in unless you reflash everything via nvflash

Try Market Enabler, that might help with the market region, although not sure since that probably uses gsm values to trick the market..

That's because on this ROM, the tablet is cloaked to work as a Xoom tablet for full app compatibility on the market. If you can change that on the build.prop (I think that's where it is) manually, it should accept it.
Although like I was told the OTA aren't full version of the ROMS, you might want to find and use the full version? Just a thought - more experienced users can give better suggestions.

Try disabling the Geolocation option, you should find that under -
Settings -> Location and Security -> "Use location for Google Search" and "Use GPS Satellites" (try disabling these option).
Super easy to flash and runs great and the status bar rocks.. that original was horrid

Awesome
This was the easiest install I think I have came across for an android rooting method. Runs so much smoother now. does the status bar write over and remove the lenovo bar? Any issues, thinking I am going to run this. Has anyone ran any performance tweaks, V6supercharge etc. Any benefit? Running much better now.
I did notice all my google apps updated to Play versions but the market still has not changed to the google play icon or version. Do i need to do a wipe cache etc?

I did notice all my google apps updated to Play versions but the market still has not changed to the google play icon or version. Do i need to do a wipe cache etc?

Am running autokiller memory optimizer and it definitely made the device faster. Also the free memory has been behaving nicely.
I flashed the stock staus bar too, ii have felt, this made the device faster too. The lenovo bar was pretty slow and would hang pretty frequently.
I have also change the home launcher to Go launcher ex, feels better and more standard as I have this on other devices too. Love the inbuilt task manager on go launcher.
I yet have to try out V6, would love to see the results. Although as earlier suggested by Khanning, delete the /data/firstboot folder prior to trying else the device won't be able to rebuild your Dalvik cache. I wouldn't try it without making a backup using CWM, incase it messes up and you need to revert.
Let me know the results if you try out V6.
Cheers

I will probably start with some of the tweaks you mentioned before I attempt any v6 type adjustments. Have you or anyone tried ROM toolbox for adjusting memory, build prop, etc. I have used this on my Droid INcredible, and works great but there is a good amount of information on the settings people have been using on phones. Thanks for the information.

Haven't used rom toolbox to make any custom adjustments to the build.prop, but technically if it makes changes to the build.prop file, its pretty much the same risk of a bootloop as trying out v6. Just that it can be controlled by inducing one tweak / value at a time. You can also take a backup of the files and push the originals using adb.
I really wouldn't all that effort unless I find lots of free time soon
But pls do share your experience, most specifically modifying the build.prop and deleting the dalvik cache (and having it rebuild on startup). If this works, I will plunge in and try out other stuff.
P.S. I am now using RAM Manager Pro and feel, this has made the device much snappier. Experiencing the same snappiness on my HTC Vision too. So far, I feel its performing much better than v6 or akmo.

Installed the rom and its nice and snappy....
Can someone give a break down to wipe the dalvik cache please?
Got the can't install app from market problem to and I guess that is the way to fix it, to delete it?
Thanks.
ANY idea why I can't boot recovery to sdcard? Just dcim, android, and data folders
no usb connection to xp
I loaded rom and Honeycomb status bar fix. The speed and root is nice. But i just noticed I can not get a usb connection to be recognized by my windows machine, so I can copy over backup'd files.
Anybody know what needs to be done to restore USB connection? Is it because the device is no longer K1 and is now Xoom that it wont work wth lenovo usb drivers?
Please help. Thanx.
Is there a chance for a Version based on
K1_A301_12_12_120109_M_GE
for the UMTS/3G+wifi model?
Thanks.

Yup yup
Can someone with the M_GE edition hop into freenode irc #ideapad-k1 with me to test it. If you don't have an irc client you can just go to http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=ideapad-k1
[Edit]
Updated the first post with a link to K1_CWM_120109_M_GE_Rooted.zip for my mobile friends in Austria
thanks to isime13 for testing
Thanks I will try it ASAP. And this comes from Austria and not Germany.
Feedback for the DE Version.
look like rooted on the first look.
Superuser app installs fine.
BUT: Apps don't get super user rights. superuser cant update itself and busybox pro complains it cant install because it does not get superuser rights.
So on the second look...no it does not work right.
The following script will install necessary files for mtp and copy a Unity launcher that runs either a mount or unmount script so you can access the filesystem on your nexus 7 without having to resort to wifi.
This is not original work, the code was adapted from here
Background...why move away from UMS to MTP?
“MTP is a big improvement over USB mass storage — for devices with lots of internal memory, a manufacturer no longer needs to come up with some hard partition between the USB mass storage and internal storage. Instead, they are all in one partition, with MTP providing access to the directory of media files that would normally be available through USB mass storage. This means there is no longer a need for apps on SD card for such devices, because what used to be the ‘internal SD card’ is in the same partition as where applications are stored. The storage on your device can be used for either applications or media, depending on what you want to put on it. You aren’t stuck with how much space the manufacturer decided to leave for the two areas.
Oh also this means that the media storage doesn’t need to be unmounted from Android when it is being access through the PC.“
Using the Script:
1. Run install_me.sh by double-clicking and running in terminal, or launch sh from terminal
2. After install script completes, it will drop you to $HOME/.local/share/applications, copy over the file called Mount Nexus 7 Filesystem to your Unity Launcher
3. Right click on the Nexus 7 icon and chose mount or unmount. Mounting takes about 5-10 seconds, so be a little patient.
Note: Although Nautilus has an eject next to the folder, it will not do anything. You need to unmount from the launcher.
Download:
http://www.mediafire.com/?fbib01go50iij7g
Script Details:
Install mtpfs package
Copy over a Nexus 7 icon for the launcher
Copy a mount and unmount script to your $HOME/.scripts folder
Copy a desktop file (unity launcher icon) to your $HOME/.local/share/applications folder
The desktop file calls either the mount or unmount script from the .scripts folder to mount as mtp filesystem

Thanks a lot. The script also works for my Samsung Galaxy Note II
I'm gonna give that script a try once I get the runt off the school bus.
I had it work once or twice, but now I'm not having much luck. Nautilus seems to be force closing a lot. I even rebooted, no difference. In fact even if I force close Nautilus and bring it back, it'll continually spin until I unplug my Nexus 7. The second I unplug it, my home dir files show up perfectly.
How do you do i Gnome 3?

I've got the same problem. I'm fairly familiar with mounting and unmounting in linux so I don't think it was anything I did.
How do I assign the icon to the file? I have a "?" icon where the Nexus 7 pic should be.

Try this blog . See if that helps.
I fixed it!
All you have to do is change nautilus ~/Nexus7 in the mount_nexus7.sh in the install folder to nautilus ~/Nexus7/*
Save
Uninstall the script and the install again.
This is SO much easier than using gMTP.
it work for me ,but can we do something so that it automount when we plug in the usb?
How do I remove Nexus 7 folder?
Hello, my name is Chisa and I'm a noobette
I followed your directions on "Easy-Mount Script for Mounting MTP in Ubuntu" to view my Nexus 7 tablet folder from my Linux desktop file explorer. Everything went according to instructions - I copied and pasted the command lines into the terminal and watched as the mysterious machine gibberish scrolled like it was doing something important... and then, finally, I saw the Nexus folders in my Linux Mint file explorer, although, it shows empty
Being the ADD noobette that I am, I moved on to another app promising the same thing - the gMTP - and lucky me, this one worked and can be installed directly from the software manager in Linux Mint. It's still not the ideal fast and simple file transfer like it is with my Nokia phone usb connection - why can't things be kept that simple?
So now I'm in a pickle: cannot delete the Nexus 7 folder created by your script. How do I make it go away? Is there something to uninstall?
I didn't try any other script besides this one. I promise
Reboot worked

Issue solved: I rebooted and the folder is gone and whatever Nexus folder was still left in home, could be deleted this time. :victory:
AW: Easy-Mount Script for Mounting MTP in Ubuntu
I'm using Kubuntu and kio-mtp, that combination works very well for me. It integrates the mtp protocol into dolphin so i just have to plug in the N7 and it shows up in the "removable media"-popup. Just google it, the post on the German Ubuntu forum is pretty self-explanatory. There's also a ppa.
I don't think it's gonna work with Gnome3 or Unity though, as far as i know it's only for KDE.
What is up with this error? get it everytime I try to drag and drop a file to my droid using the file browser in windows... HTC sync is working though.
Umh, really strange, which version of windows you have?
windows 7, it was working fine for a long time... I can still delete and modify the contents... I'm gonna try reinstalling the drivers I guess, because different USB ports didn't seem to help.
Re-Install HTC Sync or upgrade it to the latest version.
And see in device manager if there is some problem

Umh, seems adb don't work...
Try to type:
Code:
adb kill-server
then
Code:
adb start-server
then
Code:
adb device
and see if your phone is online!
If yes, re-try to push the file.

All work fine, so there is some prob with the drive of the one...
But, now, you can flash your rom
It was working just fine before... I don't understand what could have happened that would cause it to bug out in windows explorer... even though I was able to push the file, I had to reconnect the One to see the file on the drive in the windows file browser because it was not updating...

I have dozens of gigs of pictures/videos/songs to copy to my 3 android devices, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 10 and Galaxy S4. Connecting to win7/64 via usb has always been problematic. Sometimes, 1 file copies, sometimes 1000 will. I regularly got the dreaded "The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected" message. Unplug the cable, wait for minutes while it rescans the file system. Tried uninstalling Samsung USB driver, reinstalling, rebooting all devices many times. It has never been reliable on any android device.
SOLUTION:
Take windoz explorer out of the loop.
I installed WinSCP and Putty on windoz and Rooted SSH/SFTP Daemon by OSS Mobile Apps on my Android devices. NOTE: MUST BE ROOTED.
Works like a charm. It took no more time to install this software than it did to recover from 2 screwed up file transfers. Much less aggravation!
I have a similar problem. Running 4.1.2 stock on Windows 8. I prefer just to use windows explorer to transfer files. How can I solve this?
exit all windows explorer windows.
right click the windows explorer shortcut/taskbar icon and run as administrator do this twice.
open both the phone directory you want to transfer Too, and the file location you wish to transfer from.
for me it allowed me to transfer files but seemed to not like one specific file and recured in giving the same error but only for that one file.
Deleting this file and re-downloading allowed me to transfer it.
i am assuming its the phone detecting a corrupt file or something similar and refuses to transfer the file to prevent un desireable effects.
Or
the device is flipping out and being tempermental about what files it wants to transfer.

Took the zip you've to flash and put it into the adb folder in your pc.
Or use the ctrl+x and into adb folder crtl+v

I just ran into this error trying to copy a custom ROM zip to my phone. I think Sieze hit the mark with his comment about the file that wasn't transferring being corrupt. I ran a md5 check on the zip file that was giving me the error and it did not match. I redownloaded the file and it copied just fine.
So while I was at first frustrated and blamed Windows for goofing with the USB transfer, now I'm very thankful that the error likely saved me from flashing a corrupt ROM file!

well its likely your recovery would catch it corrupt and not let it flash but always nice to have multiple screenings for corrupt files.
