Full fix for i9000/Darky 2.2.1 roms on T959 - Vibrant Android Development

First off I gotta say thanks to Jellette, Eugene, and all of Team Whiskey for their awesome work making roms and kernels.
I thought this fix deserved its own thread so it won't get lost for future reference.
Included fixes: GPS, WIFI, Language, and the Soft Reboot fix by Eugene.
These .zip's are flashable through CWM
If you are running Darkys latest 9b3 rom use the Darky.Pack.zip
If you are running a stock I9000 rom use the I9000.Pack.zip

It works for me using the manual way. (pushing files using file explorer)
Again thank you!

how is the battery on darky?

Is this confirmed to get the GPS working?

Yes this is confirmed working and no idea on battery life since I haven't used Darkys rom for more than a few hours.

I flashed through clockwork and gps is still a no go for me on darkys.

I wouldn't flash that, I'd use root explorer to push the files inside it.
Edit - I take that back, flashing should work just fine.

Whoever is running Darky's ROM....HOW did you solve the issue where the phone CAN'T receive incoming calls?
Rings once and tries to load the call screen but fails and drops the call.

This happens to me to. Have to have my phone for tomorrow so flashed back to trigger. For me it's incoming call wait calls.

I had that issue when I first flashed the rom and did not wipe my data/cache partition. Just wiped from CWM and the problem (among others) resolved.

Moved files with Root Explorer but still no GPS.

Full fix pack for any stock 2.2 or 2.2.1 I9000 Rom
Add this to the OP bro, and in advanced editing change the title to full fix for all 2.2.1 I9000 Roms.
Flash for GPS, WIFI, Language, Soft Reboot fix [by Eugene] of any 2.2.1 stock rom - This flash along with Eugenes original flash will break the functionality of custom roms like darkys due to the services.jar not being correct.

Would someone, who is running Darky, just start a Darky thread? I see tons of Darky posts in all these other developer's threads, or in a GPS fix thread.
Just make a Darky thread, then post all your questions, answers and observations on Darky there; instead of cluttering up/de-railing other threads

Jellette,
Your post above sounds like you are saying flashing this AND Eugene's service.jar will break i9000 2.2.1 custom roms. Thought you need to flash/push both fixes, or your combo zip a few posts above?
one more qu. Could we push the fix files into the rom's zip before flashing.

So if I'm already on Darkys rom and I already pushed the services.jar file and I decide to flash a different i9000 rom will it mess up my phone if I use the i9000 pack after I flash the new rom? Sorry if it is a noob question.

Install Astro File Manager. Then open it, hit Menu, hit Preferences, and Enable Browser Downloads.
After running Logcat I noticed that this was missing a file. /system/etc/dbus.conf
I don't know what it does, but Logcat complained about it often. I think this may cause 'battery life' to not be as well, but it didn't seem to have any issues. I am uploading another new one right now that has this file. It didn't get pulled when I pulled the system so I copied over the one from Obsidian and the Logcat stopped complaining about it.
I attached dbus.zip for those of you that don't want to redownload the ROM and want to 'fix' this. Just unzip it and put dbus.conf in /system/etc via adb push or root explorer.
If you aren't sure if you need it, check your /system/etc folder in root explorer and see if dbus.conf is there. If it isn't, add it. I didn't notice any issues other than logcat complaining with this file's absence.
is it deodexed?

[ROM][PORT]Darkys 9.3 Final - Vibrant Edition[EDT]Updated 3/2/11

This is Darkys 9.3 with the guess work taken out of it for you.
Original I9000 post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091
Known Issue on this and all I9000 2.2.1 for Vibrant ports:
When signal Drops @ -79dBm & below the signal Icon disappears.
This is much better than the alternative, which is that your phone soft reboots at -79 dBm!
This includes my latest "Super GPS"!
found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974702
I have trimmed it down from its original 250+ meg size.
Added working wifi.
Added working gps.
Added mounting.
Added fixed Gallery3D for lockscreen wallpaper - Works on Samsung unlock.
Added Eugenes fixed services.jar for this Rom.
Added: Bloater, Spareparts, SGS Tools, Rom Manager and Titanium Free.
Left settings so that Samsung Apps will give you 45 Updates now!
Replaced Update_Script as it included items not needed by our Vibrants.
If you don't already know, you will need to enable USB debugging to mount to your computer, otherwise it will default to kies mode.
This includes the KB1 modem and KA7 Voodoo kernel disabled by default.
Install:
It doesn't matter if you are coming from a fresh Odin or not, we want a clean install so follow the install steps.
Download Darkys_v9.3_Extreme_Edition.zip and place on your sdcard.
Boot into recovery and Wipe Data/Factory Reset Before You Move On.
Flash Darkys_v9.3_Extreme_Edition.zip.
While still in recovery: Wipe Cache Partition, and inside the advanced menu: Wipe Dalvik Cache and Fix Permissions - Just These Three Steps, Do Not Factory Reset Again. THIS TAKES YOU LESS THAN A MINUTE, DO IT OR DON'T BUT DON'T QUESTION IT - THIS PROCESS HAS PROVEN TO BE THE BEST GUARANTEE OF A SMOOTH FLASH.
Reboot Your Phone.
After about 10 minutes, you should reboot again to clean things up and wipe out any bugs.
Enjoy!

[Bug Discussion] CM7 Mute/Unmute Bug :: 7/10

I want to squash this once and for all. It's pissing me off honestly.
As you may or may not know, my Phone.apk hack is exactly that -- a hack. It cannot be merged into the CM7 repository. However, there HAS to be a solution to the bug on a device (kernel) level.
I've been trying to squash it myself, but I CANNOT for the life of me reproduce it (I have had it before though).
This is where you come in.
Flash kernel_no_hacks.zip -- this zip contains a kernel that disables all hacks to try and fix the issue, and a Phone.apk from CM7 that does NOT contain my hack. This is to establish a "baseline" of sorts.
Test. Have someone call you, call yourself from Gtalk and see if you can reproduce the bug. If you can, move on. Otherwise, go drink a beer.
Flash latest below OR Flash kernel_hacked.zip -- this zip will flash ONLY a kernel that contains Atin's original hack, and another one he proposed to me.
Test again.
Report your results.
Please do not post in this thread if you don't have anything useful to add . Just want to keep it clean.
Update 7/10 - kernel #2
Trying out a couple more setting changes, please try kernel_2.zip, it's attached
Update 7/10 - kernel #3
System tries to set mute to off when a call is initiated, so I *tried* to set the kernel to mute the audio when initiated, this should happen before the call, and the call should actually unmute it when picked up... this kernel also contains the changes from #2
2 & 3 are fails, just had someone call and not be able to hear me on #3

Need help installing Rom...

Now sorry for posting, you probably get real annoyed with n00bs asking this all the time... But I was wondering for CM7 could I simply follow this guide-
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide when my phone is on 2.3 Official
Or would I need to go back to the froyo bootloader and do it from there...
Also I have used CM7 (LG Optimus One) for a long time and I am looking for a change i.e MIUI! If I'm on stock gingerbread could I just follow this guide-
http://www.galnetmiui.co.uk/content/getting-started.php
As I would prefer to flash MIUI over CM7.
Thanks for your Help!
You can do either bud, but going from froyo ensures a clean installation with a clean bootloader, flash stock I9000XXJPU, then flash Speedmod Kernel k12c (froyo) make sure CM7 is on your internal SD card, boot into recovery (vol up + home + power) , mounts and storage, format system, data, cache and datadata, its always best to install a kernel cleaning script too but not essential, then flash CM7 and Viola! Let me know how you get on bud

So, I'm new to Galaxy S. Need Help :)

Hi guys,
I own a Galaxy S i9000 mobile.
It's running on :
Android 2.3.3
Baseband : DXJV9
I have not rooted it or did anything till now.
I wanna flash ICS AOKP on my mobile..
I have tried using the search option but still im soo deserted.
Can you guys guide me on how to root, flash CWM recovery, and flash ICS please ?
and Does Galaxy S supports ROM Manager ? coz i've been using Galaxy Ace before and it didn't support it..
Thanks a lot
For Root read this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
You need to download file ending in JVP. Usually you want the one ending with last 3 digits of your baseband but as there is no JV9 JVP is close enough and is reported as working. Besides it does not really matter as you just need this for root.
Once you have root you can simply follow the guide in the AOKP thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524108
I know you have stated you want AOKP but if you want a bullet proof simple way to get this all done start with this thread for Team ICSSGS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
I usually like to make sure I have all necessary files, roms & programmes before starting so if anything goes wrong I can get my phone working again. This tutorial will help you with that also.
After following all of this you should have a good understanding of what to do and then you can flash AOKP as their instructions are kind of limited.
Also when choosing an ICS Rom this is a great thread with regards to performance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554621
AOKP is a wonderful choice.
But if I can give you an advice, wait for the next Milestone which is expected to be released over the next few days

Thank you soo much for your help bro
That link for flashing Team ICSSGS has help for everything else. From downloading stock rom to flashing with Odin to flashing ics (in this case team icssgs)
You could potential substitute Team ICSSGS for AOKP.
I got another question..
does Semaphore ICS kernel works on my baseband (i.e - DXJV9) ?
Will do. My favourite.

Great
and finally, Which version of the kernel should i use for official AOKP b34? 1.1.0 or 1.1.0s?
Not sure but both should work. 1.0.1s is for slim ics and other roms. If it is not compatible it will break 720 video recording & playback otherwise eveything else should work. There is also a video patch somewhere.

Alright..I've flashed AOKP b34 and Semaphore 1.1.0s
Everything seems to be fine
But now my sdcard is mounted as internal storage and the actual internal storage is mounted as sdcard..is this a bug or what ?
Even when I connect my phone to my PC using USB,only the actual internal storage (which is mounted as SDcard shows up..
I personally haven't 1.1.0 only 1.0.1sbm with slim ics. I think the 1.1.0 is still a test version for cm9 but could be wrong. Things may have updated since i last looked but i recommend reading the semaphore thread and posting there for more help.

Known bug in Semaphore. Make sure you enable the 'Netfilter' module in the app. When it randomly doesn't work, which is the bug, simply check and uncheck it 2 times and it will work.
