I got fed up with the somewhat pathetic selection of docks for the Streak so built my own.
I took the genuine Dell clamshell case (that I got a full refund for.. as it was so naff), cut the plastic sleeve out of it, glued up and tidied the material underneath and then glued the rear "prop" up, then drilled and mounted the case to Brodit mount. Screws are recessed so as not to scratch the Streak back.
True I still have to remove the Streak from my beloved TufLuv case, but it doesn't wobble or dance even when I take the 4x4 off the road!
Nice work use what you have!

I'm more interested to see what you're driving. Manual tranny with manual 4wd? Nice it's sooooooooooo hard to find stuff like that in the US. Everything is that electronic bull**** that's pure rubbish. Also we're full of a bunch of sack of retards that can't even drive a manual.
If I had to guess I'd say it's a honda passport or isuzu rodeo (same thing just rebranded)...but it's hard to tell
If it is a passport/rodeo I can vouch that although they arent the greatest cars for road use they are pretty decent off-road even stock.
That does look pretty sweet. How firmly is the device held in? I have the official Dell car mount: the phone is held so tight that I often rip the whole thing off the dash trying to get it out. Can you go portrait too or are you fixed landscape?

The car is a Land Rover Discovery. Awesome retrain (it has the manual low/high transmission)
I am using the Brodit dash mount and a swivel mount so I can put it in portrait mode, I prefer landscape though. Mounts are rock solid, quite pleased with them.

Not sure where you're from but where I live in the US, 70% of us use manuals and about 2/3rds of those are 4WD. Go to a Subaru lot. Everything they have is AWD.

Tuff Luv case, a man of taste
Definitely a nice case. I was thinking about trying to do something with the G2 dock, but that would be floppy as hell. This is better, and with the mount you're using, there's something to use for cable management too.

Hi
Just thought i would let you know about a case for the streak that i found ,it is a portable hard drive case such as the one below for the Dell Streak. I paid less than £5 for mine and the Streak fits perfectly, even with the 'form-fit case' attached. There is also room in the case for the data cable.

Fair point, I tight bluetooth had gone out of fashion, I barely use it. I must be one of the few peeps that uses this phone like a normal phone.

I do as well, (and it doesn't look big on me) but when cycling I don't really fancy holding it up to my ear so I use a really nice bluetooth headset with stereo buds so I can listen to music, the nice lady from google mytracks, and answer calls)..
and the streak goes in a neat case (not that dissimilar to those posted except it was from aldi for sports sunglasses) and into my bag..
bluetooth trouble
i'm new to my DS and i've troubled by the bluetooth connection. i've already 'paired but still not connected' with other device. i've installed the support software from the market but still it won't worked. so frustrating just by the bluetooth. any suggest, anyone?

For travelling on long journeys I use a Case Logic hard drive case
http://www.caselogic.com/compact_portable_hard_drive_case/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=80400
the Streak fits perfectly in the bottom under the elastic band and in the top lid behind the netting I keep headphones, cleaning cloth, spare SD cards etc.
I can throw the case into my travelling bag without fear of damage.
Actually the OP's case looks the same and at a fraction of the price so that is a good find.
Looks like the custom ones are starting to appear not a bad Price at £15.99
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FLEXIBLE-SUCT...K_AudioTVElectronics_PDAAccessories_PDAMounts
And £13.99 for the Vent kit

Hmm, Pre-order and the pictures are faked (charging lead plugging in the left hand side?). Best wait till after their September due date and check again, it looks like it will be a nice solution if it arrives.
I bought a universal car dock from ebay and whilst the phone fits (kind of) the streak is just so damn heavy it shakes about A LOT. It's usable, but very irritating.
Not sure what these 2 will be like though, but watch out for shaking
saving seller for future use.
Now they are on i am sure their will be more to follow ie China

Sure... aside from the over-inflated price. I bought mine from a local Wireless Wave here in Toronto and it works just as well for $20 taxes in.
Dell car kit far from perfect
I bought the car kit from Dell, and no matter whether the device is hanging from the windshield or off the dash, the Streak bounces around like mad when I am driving. My car is nowhere NEAR that bad - it is a heavy device and an awkward mount.
I just ordered a GPS t-mount from ProClip that might work well. I will take the sleeve the Streak sits in on the gooseneck and mount that on the ProClip mount, then attach that to the vehicle mount made for my car. That should lock the device down.
It's an expensive solution, but I spend about an hour each way commuting daily, so it is really a necessity for me. My mount should be here on Wednesday, and if anyone is interested I will write it up and post a picture or two if it works.
pictures would be awesome.
Do you see anyway to have the adapter attached (jerry-rigged) to the mount so that it plugs in when you insert the Streak?
I am looking for a way, as plugging the cable in is extremely tempermental, and a pain, to be honest!!
I suppose you could do something on the bottom of the Dell sleeve to hold the cable. I will have my cable secured on the console and the mount, so it is no problem for me to plug it in the bottom of the phone when I put it in the stand.
The mount comes in tomorrow. Can't wait. Had to slam on the brakes on the way home today and it looked like my phone was on the business end of a trebuchet...

In the US it is only 39.99.... not too expensive if you ask me. Plus this car docking kit really is perfect for the Streak. The sides are flexible rubber that hold the Streak and on the back there are rubber pads so absolutely no plastic is touching the Streak resulting in no scratches. Plus you get a a cable with it.
Perfection is worth the 40 bucks. Although I would love to see images of the one you purchased and seem pleased with.
I have the Dell car kit and I like it. It seems reasonably priced at $40 since it comes with a cigar lighter-USB adapter and USB cable as separate items. One can never have too many charging cables or options. The mount does jiggle a bit however this can be cured by positioning the mount so the cradle rests on top of the dash rather than suspended in mid-air.

I'm looking to use the dell case inners for a car holder. I have some garmin mounts that will allow me to fix to the dash.
The issue with the ones from ebay (original post) the holding part is covering the power pdmi connector.

Anyone thinking of making their own car mount should make clearance for the camera lens so it can be used as a dash-cam. Dell did not do this and it would require some cutting on their kit.

I acutally brought one of these:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/clingo-universal-in-car-holder-p25398.htm
The arm is solid but since it still sticks out a fair bit and the phone is kinda heavy, it does bounce a little (nothing compared to the flexi arms you find on most other phone holders). And since the Dell has a flat back, it sticks pretty well too (though I have had it drop once but I think that was cos my brother didn't put it on properly and due to the weight, it slowly peeled itself off). The pad only covers a small area of the back of the phone so you can use the camera, and there's also no clamps that would obscure the charging port or the buttons on top.
If the docking station was cheaper, I'd seriously consider getting another one for the car, that way I can easily put it on and take it off with super easy and I can leave the cable plugged in and just tuck it away (saves so much time when I do multiple deliveries and stuff).

Hello,
Anyone know where i can get armband for the Dell streak, its hard to find one that fits 5" screen.
Thanks
LOL.....you are kidding aren't you?
dude......you need to go buy yourself an iphone so you dont go asking stupid questions like that around here again
I actually run in the mornings as well and have ALWAYS used my phone for my mp3 player when i do so, I would also like to know if anyone as found one.
My daughter would like to have her mp3 player back since i basically jacked it from her and wont give it back. Hers even has the micro sd slot so i can even listen ot my own tunes and i am not settled with her chick music crap. but it does not have blue tooth so i can use my stereo blue tooth headset that i have used for the past 3years. (i really got used to the no wire thing)
I also bike ride too and would love a way to strap it to my arm or somthing for that as well.
try a backpack... or one of those ancient things called a "fanny pack"
I suppose you could slip in under your sweat band...
I actually tried an old sweatband but it did not hold it very well. it would not even hold it accross the room.

have you tried tucking it into your panties
...just a thought
The problem with waist band type holders when jogging is that area takes a lot of shocks from landing feet which I think is partly why arm bands were invented in the first place. The Streak is too big to fit comfortably on the arm though I'd have thought.
Take a look at skiing accessory suppliers - a lift pass holder might work if you can find one large enough.

in all seriousness though. a wrist strap would be a better idea since the phone functions in landscape. now that sh*t would be scifi. hell all you need to sort that out would be a rubber skin and some black nylon straps

Now that I would get.
What you need is a Cell-mate, Google it. Would be perfect for your needs and you can do away with the silly wires too then
what a bunch of obnoxious arses people have become lately..
I think I'll join in as well!
I'd quite like an armband for my streak, and it doesn't look too big on me, but then I'm not a 15yr child like some of the posters here are behaving like!
I use mine while exercising, i use it everyday cycling to work. I've taken to keeping it in a rigid sunglasses holder and have a belt fitting for that, but its not ideal although mytracks and mixzing running over bluetooth. Mytracks voice announce feature is superb.
But for navigation I need a better solution as I need to see the screen.
I don't understand what the big deal is here. I would like an armband too. Sure, I could get an MP3 player, but why? The streak plays MP3's. In addition to that, wearing it on your upper arm would work just fine with the landscape format...just lift your arm up a bit (as if you were looking at your watch) and it should rotate so that you can read things normally.
I got this thing so it could satisfy as many of my needs as possible. Using it at the gym to track my workout and listen to music falls under that category.
i was begining to think i was the only one that honestly was interested in this (other than the original poster) Thanks for chiming in guys.
I also wouldn't mind getting an arm strap, as long as it was designed well and not just a pocket that then wraps around your arm cos the then it wouldn't sit on your arm properly and would eventually swivel, loosen and then fall off due to the gap (phone being wide and flat and your arm being round).
I currently use a waist pouch fanny pack p*ss bag (its yellow ) thingy along with my bluetooth headphones and it works perfectly for me at the mo but then again, I don't run on the treadmills so I wouldn't know how it would cope then (I either cycle or use the Xtrainer). Still, nothing wrong with wanting an arm strap!
I was looking through PSP accessories for goodies to maybe modify, but the PDAIR flip case should meet MY needs. Long wait for it to get here though.
Give the guy a break.
Try one of these. Not sure how well it does with the weight but I attach mine to a camel bak when mountain biking
http://www.aquapac.net/ukstore/large-waterproof-armband-case-br-212-1122-0.html
I also use a bluetooth head phones for music so it can be sealed in. if you stick with wired head phones then you can half seal it in an still be secured

Hi guys,
Has anyone tried the Dash Genie for Streak?
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/dash-genie-in-car-holder-p23796.htm
They advertise it as magic - and we all know magic doesn't exist - so I am doubtful especially with the larger and heavier Streak. I would buy the original holder but this just seems more practical and universal. Also being able to use the Streak's camera as an on-board camera would be useful (Maybe...).
Currently the Dell holder on the UK dell website is selling for £35, which isn't overly priced in my opinion (Unlike the 45 or 50 they had before).
Any thoughts?
PS I would buy the Dash Genie to test but sadly mobilefun don't have them in stock at the moment - I have joined the email list though..
Thanks and best wishes.
I got one and the magic really does work. Has sticky and suction base so sticks to uneven dashboard beautifully. Small sticky pad really does hold streak firmly and securely esp. In landscape. Only issue I have is weight of streak makes mount bounce about a bit unless really well tightened with screw on back, never fear it will fall off though
Does it work with otterbox case on?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Thanks Ajed for you reply.
What do you mean by the screw on back?
I think I will only use it in landscape form so sounds good
Borijess, I'm not sure what the otterbox is made of, but seems like the plastic sticky doesn't work well or at all with silicone, teflon...etc. (According to reviews on the website).
there's a ball and socket joint joining phone holder to base. Screw tighten this and needs to be really really tightened to stop streak jiggling about. Otterbox case won't stick to pad unfortunately. I still unreservedly recommend it though.if you prefer a screen mount clingo do something similar
Thank you Ajed for your reply. I will definitely buy the dash genie when it becomes available through mobilefun website!!

I found a product called Hedgie:

But $17 for a piece of Velcro seems exaggerated. Anyone know of a better solution?
Get the cheapest TPU case you can buy and attach adessive velcro on the back and on the fridge. Easy as pie.
Or... you can buy a sheet of magnet plastic and glue it to the case and then you don't have to glue anything to your fridge.
I agree with the above post. I always buy a few tpu cases to use for special projects around the house. One word of advice though... Before you adhere a magnet to the Nexus 7 make sure you know where the auto off-on feature is located. If you accidentally glue a magnet under it it will effect you nexus 7 turning on and off.

If you have an old 20GB hard drive lying around, the magnets in the old 3.5" drives are really strong.
You might want to try what I did with my phone, to attach it to the bottom of my monitor when I'm at my desk.
Take the magnet and the piece of metal that it's attached to and bluetack this to your fridge. Then cut the bottom flat piece out of a tin can and bluetack this to the inside of the Nexus's back cover (I am guessing that there is a suitable flat area).
If you want it attached for the long term than use something else more permanent than bluetack on the fridge.
OP - I am also looking to wall-mount my Nexus 7.
So far, the best options I have seen are:
1) TPU Case with PadTab (Link to PadTab HERE)
2) Wall-Mounted Tablet Dock (link HERE).
Did you already decide how to mount your N7?
Kind of a dead thread, but if anyone else is looking for a wall mounting idea, I'm looking at a couple of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Z88WSK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A29AY3J0MGBUKJ

I got 2 sets of these when they first came out on some special intro deal and paid $20 delivered. For what they are, they work well enough. Just realize that is simply a pair of cheap plastic holders you glue to whatever surface you want. You only get 1 orientation and size depending on placement. Installing them level and at the correct width is up to the installer
The pad tab from the previous post to your stuck on a TPU case would give more options albeit at about twice the cost, 15 vs 20 + 8 (or more) for TPU case.

lmao. I use HDD magnets too. Guys are crazy strong and thin = perfect. I used 2 for a LCD drawing note clip board thing and it almost pulls the fridge over (not quite but you know what I mean).
For the Nexus, I would use 1. Glue it to a TPU case and done.
