same with me.. I tried to root my n1 with superoneclick, and after when it reboot....STUCK!!!!
I hope any one can help us plz!!
You have 2 options:
1) look at my signature, go to Wiki, execute "unroot/restore" guide using PASSIMG method, while using FRG33 as your PASSIMG. Then you can root and do whatever you want.
2) Unlock your bootloader and do whatever you want.
Both methods leave your phone with no data.
But my system ver. is 2.3.3..Does it work?
Yes, it works...

thank you man i use the first solution and its work very good
after you superboot and it hangs, issue an adb reboot to it over usb. Then it shouls boot properly
adb command doesn't seem to work on mine, but fastboot works.
but i can't fastboot flash anything, it says error to load xxxx.img
it works now...bootloader unlock...but still can't go into the system..FIGHTING!!
I'm having problems after the gingerbread OTA update. The phone froze. I restarted. And now it is just stuck on the Boot screen with the X. I have never rooted or unlocked. I tried doing a recovery, but the phone reboots and goes to a screen which has an exclamation mark in a triangle with an android underneath. Any ideas?
That's just the screen before the stock recovery. Try pressing the volume up + the power button at the same time and you should find the stock options menu.

Try and reflash the OTA zip.
Or unlock bootloader and flash anything you want afterwords if the ota don't work.

I'm trying to fix my friends G1, I hold the camera button and power button and only get into the hard reset screen.
I've tried ALT + L and wipe date/factory reset then reboot system now and nothing. All I can get is that hard reset screen.
Also in the system recovery at the bottom it says E: Cant open /cache/recovery/command.
Any ideas? I wanna try to get this thing up and working again. It's bone stock, never got rooted or changed in any way.

I would try loading the original DREAIMG.nbh file onto the sdcard and then try the bootloader option and see if the presence of the nbh file "forces" it to go into bootloader....
Otherwise, I'm pretty stumped...
I've just got a similar problem.
The ONLY thing I can do is entering the Android System recovery (2e) menu.
If I try powering off the phone and:
-Holding home = android system recovery with the reboot system now, apply sdcard:update.zip wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition options.
-holding camera = same thing.
It seems like whatever I try with the little android experience I have and reding on forums high and low, I cannot get ADB working, it doesn't list my device OR connect using adb devices and adb shell.
When trying fastboot It's just waiting for device.
If I try installing from sdcard with the alt-s option it either says verification error (custom roms) or with the signed OTA/original roms it starts/stops like this:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
This is VERY frustrating for me since I have NO idea what version is on it, the 1.5 or 1.6 original rom or some custom rom.
It seems like it's a "standard" rom onboard, but since I cannot get pass the "!" screen whatsoever, ADB doesn't work and fastboot is just waiting for better weather or something, I cannot verify ANYTHING.
I also have a Hero wich is flawless with ANY rom I trow at it, recovery image and radio.
So Any ideas on how to fix this ?
Heh, I really hope there is someone out there that REALLY can help me with this.
Thank you

Plz come up with a solution, I've read and read, but nothing......

I have been trying since yesterday to get my Nexus back in to working function. I had CM 6.0 with ClockWork recovery. Through recovery I wiped data/cache/etc then attempted to flash a stock frf91.zip from the sd card. As it was in the process of doing so recovery gave me an error and said it would reboot into Rom Manager. Now my phone hangs on Nexus X logo before the boot animation. I can power the device into fastboot to choose bootloader-reboot-reboot bootload-power off.
I believe that recovery process had the error/issue right after it deleted the system image.
YET I do not have the function of my Power/Multi-Use Button on the top of the phone. So I tried to use adb (which I have used with my phone previously without any issues) to attempt to install the stock rom image.
With adb running I sent the command to display the devices connected. It shows the list but with nothing connected (NOT an error or no devices connected), just blank. I then tried fastboot and sent the command to list connected devices, fastboot showed my devices serial as a connected device.
I was able to flash a system.img file using fastboot yet nothing happened, an all other restore attempts, like userdata.img or boot.img, etc. will not work and come back with a error of no remote permission.
Sorry for the entire book, but I am sort of lost.
My reason for this whole mess is because I wanted to restore my phone to a stock rom and recovery to send it in to have the power button fixed while retaining my warranty (my bootloaded IS locked).
When I get home from college today I am going try loading a stock factory passimg.zip of ERD79 on my sd and let fastboot try to pick up on it. I really have no other option haha.
Anyone have a suggestion? Honestly I am willing to just send it in AS-IS or brick it an tell them I had no idea what happened that I couldn't use the power button and it died after an update.
I see that no one has any idea really haha.
Couldn't tell from reading your write up - can you boot into recovery?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
no I cannot. I do not have use of my power button. I am going to read through the new thread concerning accessing recovery without use of the power button.
To use adb, you need to be in recovery, or fully booted with debugging enabled.
To use fastboot, you need to unlock your boot loader.
Try reverting to stock via passimg method (one of the newer ones, if you have the Froyo radio).
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I recently realized that was the issue with adb. So fastboot is out of the question then. Doesn't the passimg method require use of the power button though?

hboot scrolls quickly when I try this and I catch that it says that is not a valid passimg.img
any ideas?
Should be passimg.zip (not img).
Makes sure it's not a zip inside a zip.
FRG83 seems problematic, so try FRG33 instead.

I got the passimg method working correctly. I mean passimg.zip in the previous post. I tried frf91 and it went through then said checking and went straight back to hboot without asking for permission. I'm going to try frg33 and if that doesn't work I will try the app you found.
frg33 seems to be working
hboot with FRG33 worked and the phone booted up with rom. thank you very much for all of your awesome help danger-rat.

Hi guys...
First off, i'm somewhat of a noob. Got my N1 already rooted a few months back but i've tried many different ROM's since. I'm using Clockworkmod Recovery.
I was running Cyanogen 6.1 yesterday and wanted to create a backup of stock froyo for gingerbread's release.
So, i did a backup of Cyan 6.1 and followed the following steps off Android Central's forum.
Step One
Download this file. It's the flashable, stand alone version of FRG33.
You can't go straight back to FRG83 using this method. Just trust us.
Place the PASSIMG.zip file on the root of your SD card.
Power off your Nexus One, then hold volume down while pressing the power button.
Your phone will spend a minute or so looking for an update file (the PASSIMG.zip file).
When it has the info it needs, it will ask if you would like to install it. Press the volume up key to choose to install the file.
Your Nexus One will take another few minutes installing the update, then it will reboot.
Let it reboot the whole way, then go on to step two.
Step two is for the update to FRG83 which i did.
The phone boots and runs fine...
But ever since I did all that, my N1 looks like its unrooted. I can't use ROM manager, Titanium backup to restore since they all tell me they don't have su rights. I installed Superuser from the market. It opens but does nothing with my app's rights.
adb can't find my device when I try to list it (adb devices). Neither can Fastboot (fastboot devices), in fastboot mode.
I see the padlock at boot
I can't go into recovery. I get the robot with an exclamation mark. If i hit the power and vol-up I get the android system recovery menu (in blue) with only 4 options; reboot, apply sdcard:update.zip, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition.
I've tried rooting it with Universal Androot but it failed.
I've no idea where to go from there...
Please help!
You have to root again. Use the rageagainstthecage exploit.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Ok... N1 is rooted using VISIONary.
However, I can't boot into recovery mode (clockworkmod). I still get the exclamation mark.
If I try to use adb, i always get an error: device not found.
If I try to unlock with fastboot oem unlock, i get a waiting for device message but it never finds anything....
Almost there... i think!
Ok... using Clockworkmod, flashed recovery and all is good!
Thanks for your help!

Support for both AMOLED & SLCD owners!
With the release of Unrevoked 3.31, DINC owners are now able to obtain root and S-OFF with the Nov OTA and it also supports recoveries for both AMOLED and SLCD users!
I have put together an extensive guide on how to get root for both AMOLED & SLCD users! Rooting is now even easier than ever.
The guide is available at http://jonsuh.com/2010/11/root-your-droid-incredible-how-to/
FAQ
Blank Recovery Screen Issue
For those of you coming across the issue of the blank/black recovery screen:
Do NOT boot straight into recovery with Volume Up+Power.
Boot into HBOOT FIRST with Volume Down+Power.
Then select RECOVERY from the HBOOT menu.
I rooted before the OTA and the OTA will not install
Read my article on how to Unroot your Droid Incredible at http://jonsuh.com/2011/01/unroot-your-droid-incredible/
Then read my article on how to root.

I apologize; link is fixed and should be working now.
Looking to try this, but my SD card appears to be formatted to FAT16. How do I format it to FAT32?
Edit: Spoke too soon, got it. I'll post an update when once I'm done.

Well truthfully, the OTA update doesn't do much but add more crapware. There isn't any other reports of the OTA being a significant update so you'd be safe to not even install the OTA. If you're annoyed with the reminder, if you've done all I've told you to, if you click "Install" it should just time out and not do anything and never remind you again.
Not Working For Me
This process does not appear to be working for me.
After doing all up to and including the "ADB" stuff and typing "reboot bootloader", my phone just boots to the bootloader and does nothing. I never get the prompt to process the update.
Where did I go wrong? I've tried this four times with the same results.

Did you make sure you didn't rename the file something different? It should be "PB31IMG.zip" in the root of your SDCARD.
Also did you make sure your SDCARD was formatted to FAT32? and not FAT/FAT16?

No good.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit.
I formatted the removable sdcard to fat32 and the PB31IMG.zip file is named correctly.
I type in "./flash_image misc /sdcard/mtd0.img" and immediately get the "#" prompt after it confirms my entry.
I then type "reboot bootloader" and the phone goes to the bootloader and just sits there until I tell it to reboot.
Should I be doing all of this from the internal storage instead of the removable card?
New Info:
I just tried it again and this time instead of rebooting from the bootloader screen I selected "bootloader" and it checked the image and gave me the option to flash. I said "yes" and it is now loading the image.

Pull the battery out put it back in and turn it back on (u said that it was an slcd?). U mentioned that the soft keys turn on right? Have u tried re running unrevoked with the new recovery mod for slcds? Look at my site for directions.
It may b that unrevoked would still recognize ur phone being plugged in and rerun the root process with the proper recovery.

The 3.22 works great. The one thing I kept getting hung up on was after I installed the drivers by going into device manager etc etc was that windows was still asking me to install hardward drivers for usb device... so I followed along with windows and installed the driver again. Immediately after I installed the drivers for the second time unrevoked picked up my phone and started the process. It went all the way through and went to "done." (forgot to remove the PB31IMG.zip from trying to push the downgrade before - so it tried loading the update and failed...all I had to do was choose dont reboot, that brought me back to the hboot screen then unrevoked picked it back up).
The one problem I kept running into was that the new 3.22 unrevoked wouldnt pick my phone up even after I installed the drivers with device manager etc. So I tried a few different computers...still nothing and still asking me a second time to install the drivers. After I installed the drivers the second time everything was smooth from there.

Did you remove battery ,then replace battery then
volume down and power?(after the first restart). And im assuming also that you want to go to recovery to redo a backup..
Yes, I just did that (also tried with another battery). But when I pushed recovery, It restarts and still getting stuck on the boot screen. (but now with some vibrations and then goes off)
I was thinking about reinstall the ROM, but that's my last option because I don't have a way to make a backup

if it allows you to get to recovery screen, did you try to go to any of the other options it gives you to see if it just reboots then as well, or is it just the recovery that reboots? And are you sure your batteries have charge,is your phone plugged in to a charger?
I tried with fastboot>reboot, recovery, and factory reset, all having the same result (reboot and then nothing). I'm not sure what are HBOOT USB and IMAGE CRC used for, and of course, I have not checked the SIMLOCK option.
Thanks for your replies.
Is it possible to make a backup from the recovery mode?
I don't think making a backup of what's going on would help any..but yeah if you can get into recovery you can backup.

I would suggest booting to the HBOOT menu and then connect your phone to the coputer you used when you ran Revolutionary to gain S-OFF.
Then select the FASTBOOT menu selection and see if you get into FASTBOOT USB mode. If you do, then I would try to reflash ClockworkMod recovery.
Thanks, I'm going to try that, but first I have to find the drivers.
Thanks Again, tell you later.
After got FASTBOOT USD, how should I continue to reflash ClockworkMod recovery?. Doing this, will I lose everything?
Edit:
I realized I can't reach recovery mode, so I can't reflash :s.
I'm not sure if you'll lose everything but use the command
fastboot flash recovery (name of image)
Make sure the recovery image is in the same folder as fastboot and adb

Flashing a custom recovery will not cause you to lose anything. Once you get recovery installed, any backups you made should then be available to restore.
But based on what you described happened to your phone, restoring a previous backup sounds like the best thing you could do.
Anyone please?
I have gone so far, I mean, I've tried to flash the recovery using fastboot usb but I got an error that said: FAILED (remote: now allowed). I also tried using Android Flasher, but I got an error too. It said: Your phone require ENG bootloader. after that I tried to flash another bootloader, but with no success :/.
I'm starting to get stressed, every different way I try, there's another problem...
EDIT : I'm sure I connected everything well. On screen said FASTBOOT USB, so I supose I got into this mode correctly

Looks like you need to resort to reloading a stock ROM. I would suggest you use the PG32IMG.zip method (copy an official RUU ROM.zip to your SD card and rename it PG32IMG.zip) and install it from HBOOT.

It didn't work :/, I got a RUU.exe then I extracted Rom.zip file and put into my SD as PG32IMG.zip. The phone readed the file without problems, but after "parsing" it rebooted and the same, some vibes, and got stuck again. also tried to extract the recovery file and just parse that one, but still the same.
I think is not a recovery problem, should I parse something else?
