[Q] I9000 android 2.2, could be re-flashed? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
Recently, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 with Android 2.1 OS,
I flashed it to Android 2.2 Froyo, my system now has the following firmware information:
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband version: I9000XXJPP
Build number: FROYO.XXJPO
My question is:
Can I re-flash it using another ROM "I9000JPJPA"??
If yes, HOW to do it? and what cautions must I be careful about?
Thanks in advance

Use odin and if in europe flash it with js5 which is on samfirmware and a.flashing guide that will take you to 2.2.1 or if you feel brave have a bash with 2.3.2 gingerbread again on samfirmware free membership

Thanks,
I am not in europe, I live in Middle east, because of that I need to re-flash my i9000 to a ROM which support right to left langauge "I9000JPJPA" (Arabic).
I checked samfirmware website, but I felt lost in front of the huge number of ROMs.
Does the 2.2.1 supports right to left language? is it stable?
if yes, what is the name of this ROM on samfirmware website?
Am waiting your reply

You should have a look on samfirmware.com as they cover europe asia usa so on very easy site to navigate as for left to right i believe so and 2.2.1 very stable

PHONE:
CSC:
files, what should be on it at this data.
Please Help me, and will donate to helpers.
Thanks, and sorry about my English
You have a leaked testfirmware installed: JPH... there is only one newer testfirmware: JPK, but there are no bis differencies to you JPH so you dont need to update. Android 2.2 (Froyo) is officialy not released by samsung, we are all wating. So it is all okay for you. Wait until samsung releases froyo officially and you can update. Your original firmware depends on the provider from which the phone may be bought in ireland.
... But please use the right sections to post here.. This is android development. We have a section especially for questions and answers.

I know that froyo is is not out yet, bet what's is the latest at the moment for Ireland Vodafone???

Ok, but I'm looking for official latest, not froyo.

if you are the europe model i9000
then it's either JM1 or JM2 some people claim JM1 is better, but newest is JM2
if you have the i9000m canadian model
then latest is JH2
Today's lesson: Don't buy phones from gay people.
Ok, I'm will use I9000XWJM2 rom, but what about phone and csc files???
same for all 3
if you got to samsfirware site they will have all 3 zipped in 1 package

[Q] I9000XXJP0 phone needs I9000XXJP0 firmware?

I have a UK T-Mobile unlocked unbranded Galaxy S (Froyo) which reports the following details:
PDA: I90000XXJPO
PHONE/MODEM: I90000XXJPP
CSC: I90000OXAJPO (KOR)
Does this mean that I need to find/use a "I9000XXJP0 version" gingerbread ROM file in order to flash gingerbread? Or could I flash some other Europe version e.g. I9000XWJVB gingerbread ROM?
I was surprised that this question is not covered in the various gingerbread flashing threads that I have read. No doubt I have missed something that will be staring me in the face once someone points it out..
Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice.
If you don't want to wait for the official update for your phone you can absolutely flash any of the gingerbread roms on this website. Just be sure to read the instructions carefully.
Btw, the gingerbread rom for your phone won't be JP0, that is a froyo rom. They change with every update.

You can flash any firmware buddy no problems, it doesn't have to be country specific. However flashing a country specific modem will most likely have an effect on signal, call.quality etc. Check out doc's thread as I think there is a good guide there.

Thanks guys. Erm so, if you were me, what do you think my best bet is? I'm thinking of flashing what I have found as being the latest offical build of 2.3.3 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901
Modem on that is XX same as my current firmware. Do I need to care about the CSC or anything else? (FYI I've updated my original post above to give the full CSC)
Cook up a rom in doc's kitchen. You can have a very good stock rom or a really good custom one.

Wow, romkitchen.org looks very interesting. However, it says "Install from a 2.3 ROM" so I guess I would need to upgrade to 2.3 before being able to use it, which is a bit strange as upgrading to 2.3 is all I'm trying to do anyway. And it says it beta, so I think I'm better of using the ROM in my post above?
Yes, you have to flash a stock 2.3 rom first to get the bootloader update. They are all beta version of gingerbread. Even the ones that got pushed out recently aren't as stable as the 2.2.1 roms.
When I go to 2.3 it will be from the kitchen for sure.

OK. Well, this story has a happy ending. I've upgraded to 2.3.3 (XEE version) using a guide that someone in the romkitchen irc channel linked me to.
hxxps://docs.google.com/document/d/1KePMB1QUUb_fMhY-RbX_vZEMJGTzpKLZNp6cZ2uOGe8/edit?hl=en&pli=1&authkey=CPPth-IF#
As it says in the guide, all I needed to do afterwards was reselect my provider via the APN settings (easy peasy, just selected "T Mobile" from a short list of UK providers).
Cheers for this post to all who replied - just got a Galaxy S too and wasn't sure if there were any caveats about flashing to a ROM with a different ID than your current one aside from normal GSM radio band for picking america vs rest of world etc.

New firmware received via KIES

Yesterday I received a new firmware for my Swisscom 3G Galaxy Tab when i launched Kies.
First it asked me to update Kies, then after system reboot, it suddenly asked my if i'ld like to update to the new firmware. Anxious of getting Gingerbread, I chosen yes.
Guess what ...
No Gingerbread but Froyo 2.2.1
GT-P1000
Baseband: P1000XXJMI
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: Froyo XWJMJ
Kies did not give me any further updates after this.
So, still, no GB
Cheers
Martin
Gingerbread has started rolling out and you can now update to it via Odin.

Did you read the 1st reply to the OP?!
is there a way not to do a full wipe when installing gingerbread?
I heard that firmware 2.2.1 must be installed before gingerbread can be deployed. So it is probably good that you installed it.
Now if you really want gingerbread today go to the developers section and install the Overcome rom. In its thread you'll find a great guide if followed the installation is very simple.

Same here.
But on my Tab it still says Froyo 2.2, but the kernel is the same, as well the baseband and Build.
I was hoping for GB...

[Q] Switching from branded 2.2.1 to stock 2.2.1

Hi,
I currently have 2.2.1 PDA I9000BVJS4 / PHONE: I9000BVJP4 / CSC: I9000ORAJS4 and i want to switch to stock 2.2.1 . My phone was bought from an online shop, not from an operator and it was not branded. After the 2.2 update via Kies i had a FW similar wich ended in CNX (Vodafone Ro, it might be I9000HKDCNX, not sure about it). Can you give me some pointers about which version of 2.2.1 should i flash it to and a guide how to do it ? last time i tried i got to the S of death and the only way out was a friend of mine which could only install my current firmware.
Thanks!
If you want stock 2.2.1 then search for EZBase. It has everything you need to flash to that with clear and very easy to follow instructions.

How can EZBase help ? from what I read it makes easier to switch between zipped roms.
bump 10 characters
Ezbase is basically stock + root,

humm, i don't want root, basically i want my phone to be in the optimal condition for warranty
Then go to samfirmware.com and choose appropriate firmware

As i descriped in the OP I am a bit afrade of flashing it without a proper descriptiun. Diggin in the forums and apropriate usage of the seach box lead me to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100906 ; i'm going to try it on monday
That looks like good thread, hope it all goes well, pm me if you have any problems

Optimal would be one the firmware that came with your phone or its updates via Kies ..
Second option would be current firmware Samsung stock rom version that matches your location .
jje
Flashed to JPY as described above, set CSC to XEU and updated via KIES to JVO all's all right.

[Q] Can I flash P1000T with P1000 firmware?

Hello,
I am a noob at this… I need helps from you all…
I got an Australia Telstra Galaxy Tab GT-P1000T.
PDA : P1000TDVJJ3
PHONE : P1000TDVJJ3
CSC : P1000TDVTTELJJ4
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build number: FROYO.DVJJ3
I would like to convert it to generic Asia firmware, in order to have Chinese and Malay language. I have read through many informative tutorials here. I wonder whether I can flash the firmware of this P1000T, like other P1000? Which firmware should I use to gain access to KIES for future update?
Thanks very much!
No you can't. Officially gingerbread just came out from helstra but I suggest you try another like Boca or overcome.
