For some reason the Email will periodically stop syncing with Exchange and the only way to get it to start again is to reboot the xoom.
I have tried the following:
Kill Email app and restart
Change sync settings to never, exit settings, change settings back to push
This used to happen on my nexus one with the base rom but not with any of the cooked roms.
Any idea how to fix this? It is pretty annoying.

i'm having the same issue right now on my nexus one where email stops syncing daily. I cannot even manually refreshing and there is no spinning/refresh symbol on the upper right. after rebooting the phone, exchange sync works again. only to have the problem occur again.

Starting yesterday, whenever my Gmail tries to sync up my inbox, it causes all my GApps to force close (original post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7119344&postcount=2118) Turning off sync enables me to continue to use all other GApps and even load up the Gmail app. However, if I try to sync my inbox, whether it be manually or automatically, the force closes return. Does anybody knwo how I can fix this problem? I've cleared data so many times and it still does it.
Can't send from it either now.
Nobody's experienced this as well?

I experienced the problem on my brand new Samsung Vibrant from t-mo. Turns out, what worked for me was logging into gmail on a computer, creating a temp folder and moving ALL messages from the inbox into the temp folder you just created. Try accessing your gmail inbox from the phone now and it should work. You are then able to move all the emails in your temporary folder back to the inbox. Knock on wood, no troubles yet. Hope that helps.
I am on firefly 2.1, speedmod k13a. Google voice is 0.4.2.13. Just recently, my phone has stopped syncing with my gmail accounts (2) and my google voice app. Synchronize inbox and inbox notification checked in voice. Background data and auto sync enabled in system.
I first noticed thus when I had to manually refresh my voice app to see new messages. Then I realized that my gmail was not receiving notifications for new emails.
Things I have tried: reinstalled voice, flashed firefly 2.1 again after master clear, sign out of voice and clear cache (this one worked for a while, but eventually lost sync again, and restarted the phone (also worked in the beginning, but eventually lost sync).
I'm not sure what to do since email and texting are the two main things I use my phone for besides internet. I need to fix this problem, but not sure how.

just flashed serendipity 5.12 and i am not getting gmail push notifications, have to manually refresh to fetch emails

Ya know.. now that you mention it... I don't think I'm getting push notifications anymore either .. and I'm on Andromeda ... gonna have to test it tomorrow.

I was having a similar issue on multiple roms. The solution I have found is to drop the Gvoice widget onto one of my home screens. When it's there, I get everything right away, possibly because it forces the phone to keep the data connection open full time?
Although...the other day, I was getting them slow on my computer too, I think google was having some issues.

Yeah i tested today and i seem to be getting push just fine. Was reading online that google did happen to have a snag with there servers, resetting 100,000+ email accounts. That might have had something to do with it.
Using CM7 and every so often Gmail mail sync gets unchecked. When I go back in to accounts and recheck it, it syncs successfully. Calendar and contacts never unchecks. Anyway to resolve this?

I have run into this form time to time also. Someone on the cm forums also reported this for the heroc. No confirmation if it's a heroc issues, cm7 issue or a gmail issue. The cause is thought to be some issue related to not being able to sync for a certain time, i.e. loss of signal, or possible airplane mode, and then gmail decides to stop trying to automatically sync.
I also have the issue with google+
I can confirm that I have exactly the same problem. I use a zte blade with CM 7.1 stable release. I use the gmail app.
Any solutions?

I know I asked this before but every since I updated to 4.4 my gmail sync has been painfully slow. Once in a while I'll get an instant notification other times I'll have to wait upwards of 5 minutes for it to come through. I didn't have this issue on 4.3. All I noticed when I checked the sync settings is that the sync icon was stuck on gmail and I had to manually refresh it. Does anyone have any suggestions. I already cleared the data and rebooted but there is no change.

All those are fine. I'll send a test email and it will be instant but if I repeat it I'll have to wait 5+ minutes for it to come up again.
Mine Is Just Slow To Sync
My issue is similar, but different. My Gmail app on my phone is not syncing (or at least it takes forever) to sync with the Gmail itself.
If I delete 10 messages from my phone (Gmail) then go to a computer and visit my Gmail account via a web browser, the messages are still there.
I'm running HTC One. 4.4 Kit Kat Seems to have started around the time I upgraded. I also have a Google Apps domain, not straight Gmail. But we all know Google Apps mail is just Gmail with your own domain name.
Anyone else having this issue?
DISREGARD, I RESOLVED BY: FORCE STOPPING MAIL APP, CLEAR DATA. THEN RECONFIG CLIENT/APP.
Having issues with Gmail on OOS. I click an email in notifications and Gmail opens blank. Force stopping and restarting sometimes works but not usually. App fails to open normally sometimes as well. Just appears blank. Have this on OOS 4.01 and 4.02. I am rooted.
Anyone else seeing this behavior? It's killing me right now. Been using Outlook in the mean time. Not loving it.

I have this behaviour also, but only when i add an exchange work account with security settings
All problems gone since switched to Inbox
No problems at all for me, and I use Gmail extensively (the only email app I've used on my phones). But I got the phone with OOS 4.0.3, then updated to 4.1.1 and now 4.1.3. So maybe update, which you may already want to do anyway?
Or try clear cache and clear data for Gmail and see if that helps? It's all cloud based, so all the email will just re-sync (no downside to trying this).
I don't use any Exchange accounts (which a previous response mentioned) so not sure if that is the cause or not.
