sliceit ask for SU priviledges on startup - G Tablet Themes and Apps

I love the game, but am concerned why Sliceit asks for SU privileges on startup, need less to say I do not allow it, but has any one else some across this issue?

yaaah i ran into this about a month ago, it still started up eventhou i hit no. dev has no answer to why the app was asking for SU. unistalled it from all my devices. kinda skitchy if you ask me

Yeah I agree totally sketchy. I hit deny and was able to play normally, as if it never came up. Try that hopefully it'll work or maybe I just got lucky. good luck

Oh I dont have any problem playing the game after the deny SU, however I was curious to see if it was my device specific or generic. There is no reason for a game to even ask for SU.
I think I am going to bug the devs to ans. why.

Keeping protected/paid apps installed?

I might be a senior, but we're all still learning
So my question is, when you wipe/reflash something, is there a way to keep all the Protected/Paid apps installed when you start up? Normally, a wipe will break all of your protected/paid apps and list them in the launcher as "com.XXXX.XXXX" or even "org.XXX.XXX". Launching them results in the infamous Force Close box.
This is indeed on Apps2SD and with Cyan's new 3.9
Have you tried running the fix_permissions script?
I'll reboot and run it now
Didn't fix them, unfortunatly :/

Back up all your apps using MyBackupPro or Backup for Root Users. I have all mine on my sd so they re-install automatically. I don't have to do anything, and they don't load up as com.xxxxx.htc.. blah. But I use Backup for Root Users when I do have to format my ext2 and this brings them back no problem.
Hmm interesting. I've never used Backup for Root Users with apps, just the data. Takes too long for me with all my apps...but I managed to find the spare time to re-install, that was fun . Thanks guys!
my advice to anyone on here who is going to play with anything on their phone:
before you do it, make sure you have enough time allotted to fix EVERYTHING, as if you were starting from scratch. that way, before you begin, you can have the peace of mind to know that if anything goes wrong, you've got all the time you need to fix it.
murphy's law: whenever you think you're in for a quick fix, theres a long road ahead of you.

Wouldn't hurt to have a backup unlocked GSM phone too. That's one of the nice things about GSM-based technologies... if your phone dies for whatever reason, pop the sim out and put it in a backup phone. You'll still be able to be contacted while you fix the primary device.
I had this issue too with the same Rom and with the previous version. This is how I solved it.
First I deleted all apps, etc from my SD card while it was connected to my Mac, just made it easier. (I was also running a previous Apps2Sd, not the one built into the mod, which I believe was the root of the issue. I didn't use the old apps2sd once I upgraded the ROM, and I may be way off but I find it suspect.
Then I wiped and reinstalled the ROM. Yea I had to reinstall my apps but...
...before doing all that I had tried removing and then reinstalling an app. A reboot/power cycle of the G1 would result in the icon being gone again and that ugly error message in regards to the app.
When I did the step I mentioned prevously, delete, wipe, etc I've not had any further issues.
I've also since updated by fs from ext2 to ext3 but that was after the fact.
Cyan's mod is by far my favorite and consistently stable and well documented. I'm glad I was able to correct my issues.

Did you manage to find a solution to this problem? If you did, could you please post it. I flash different ROMs often. Having to reinstall my paid apps over and over again is starting to get very annoying.
Haven't tried yet. I might try the MyBackup Pro option, as I heard it's a great app anyways. But I know what you mean

[Q] "dead" phone

I have a dead phone I'm toying with. It's not on with the network. This is my first attempt at rooting etc. I would like to just have it as a sort of game/fun/toy phone. I have a G1 from Tmobile that I use and not going to try and root until I get a new one, then perhaps also have that as a game/fun/toy phone. Anyway, I have a Sprint Hero and how I've been getting apps and such on it is by swapping SD cards and doing a back up or connect via wi fi from one of the sites with a list of freeware to download. I want to get rid of the apps that I don't want/need for this phone. I'm not going to use it to call people so I would like that off too if I could. I would like to keep the wi fi though. I am new to this and trying to figure everything out. I just got busybox and rom manager on the phone. So, now what? How do I get those annoying stock apps I don't want/need? I really don't need to change the whole face of it, just those apps to be removed and I'll be happy with it. Thanks
by the way
I forgot the build.
I'm on 2.31.651.7

Please search around, most of the common questions, more often than not, have already been answered.
ok thanks. it's just so time consuming to be sitting on the computer trying to search and read through so much. I don't sit on my butt all day staring at a screen. I have a baby and any screen time is when he's sleeping. It's just easier to ask and hope for an answer. I'll look through the links later. Thanks.
I also want it as some type of "toy" for him to play with instead of taking MY phone! lol. I have toddler lock on it and he seems to like it. But I don't really want him to have it until he stops "chewing" on it. My G1 case cover is ruined from him. lol. oh well. He likes to play with phones because everyone else does. They start early now. I downloaded all sort of kid games so when that day comes, I can say, here you go when he takes mine!
But I'm lost on figuring out if there is a program I need? Or if the superoneclick has it in the app. I have it on our Windows computer and I'm currently on our Mac. And that computer is so slow and now I have to spend the time to try and clean IT out. Its running Vista and I have a copy of 7 but I don't feel like dealing with all of that. sigh.
Does tethering work with phone to phone? Like connect my non network phone to my G1 for internet like when we go on vacation and my nonsmart phone partner wants to use the net and so do I, that we can share. I'm guessing USB cable would do that? I don't know, there is just so much to read up on for a newbe trying to figure it out. Time for sleep now.

Well, nobody around here sits around on their butts staring at the screen, waiting for people like you to ask questions... so that they can answer. If you think of this as "Customer Service", think again. Everyone here has primary jobs, they do this because they like it and are passionate about it.
Having said that, nobody is saying "No" to answering questions... just try searching and looking up the obvious links, first.
Geeze. sorry. I just thought Maybe someone else maybe already had done it and point me in the right direction. I try searching and can't find anything in what I'm trying to do. So a here, try this and this and such would be nice. Thought I give a bg on what I wanted to do with it. And I'm still new and get lost around here. Tech langauage changes every 6 months along with the phones. I see "flash" and I think of the Adobe program or the flash on a camera. So forgive me. And I guess nevermind.
I agree with the others here. There is a wealth of tutorials available, and when used will achieve your goal of a "toy". However, I will help you out by providing a framework of things you will need to do. Bear in mind you will need to do the searching though. This way you will learn more about the phone, and you will have a better sense of what to do if something doesn't go right, etc.
First, you need to have your phone rooted. Rooting allows you full access over the phone. Most rooting utilities will install "Busybox", a set of binaries that grants you the ability to use special commands. Next, you will want to install a custom Recovery image. There are two mainstream ones available: Amon-RA and ClockworkMod. Either is fine. The recovery image allows you to make backups of your phone, install new ROMs, and reset settings, among other things. After the recovery image is installed, you will want to search for a list of "safe to delete apps".
I hope this helps you somewhat. If you have anymore questions feel free to PM me.
Mike

[Q] HEELLLPP!! I didnt strapsafe, now I dont know what to do!!

To the admins I apologize if this is in the wrong section if it is please move it accordingly.
Hello everyone, I have an issue, hopefully someone can hel me and it starts like this. I and everyone else have been waiting for months for a safe root method and a recovery system such as TWRP OR CWM just incase I fudge something up flashing custom roms so I can always go back to stock. I came across a safestrap article and decided it was something similar to what I was looking for. So I decided to root using the big K. I know not the best choice, you can boo me now.
After a successful root, I installed safestrap. Unfortunately safestrap kept crashing upon starting the app, I couldnt even get it to set up. thats fine, I was just going to unroot and keep on living life, but then I stumbled upon Xposed installer, that modified and tweaked like a custom rom but without all the risk according to a website. I said hey thats worth a try and I did. After the Xposed installer setup and a reboot, I wad looking for mods on the web and all of a sudden my apps and system files started crashing to the point that I could not use my phone. I immedeately uninstalled Xposed installer ss soon ad my phone stabalized and unrooted.
I thought everything was good, 4 hours later the apps and system files started crashing again, so I did a reboot and I noticed that custom with the lock came up on intial startup. though I was told I was unrooted by the K program and even double checked using a rootchecker app, which stated I had indeed an unrooted phone. I did another reboot and no custom or logo came out. At this point I just wanted a working phone and As much as I hated doing so I did a factory reset. This seemed to have fixed the problem, but 4 days later my phone randomly went into a bootloop. I couldnt get it to stop so I took out the battery and that did not fix it.It was strange becuase I thought it might have been unrelated since it wasnt doing this when I had the issue with Xposed installer.
After yet another factory reset my phone seems to be fine, its still too early to tell though since its only been about a day. I had the normal google playstore and gvoice app crashing...Sigh..the only thing different was that sometime yesterday after the second factory reset a notification popup of unfortunately a sytem file stopped working came up. I acknowledged it, but thankfully I havent gotten any problems. I forgot what the notification read. hopefully its not related to what happened the other day.I dont know if this is related to one another, but I did notice that before I rooted my android system had automatically upgraded. I looked for issues like this on the net and saw people where having random bootloops after system upgrades and that unchecking scanning for wifi fixed the problem. though I did this and it did not work, thats why I did the second factory reset.
Now Im asking for help if any further issues arise. I love my Note3 and at this point I just want a reliable working device. Im keeping my fingers crossed and hopefully that will be the end of it, but in case it started to act up again, what can I do? any information and help is greatly appreciated. thanks.
Never uninstall any Xposed app that changes system files without first reverting any changes you made with it. Some of them are permanent until they are turned off in the App. Then you can disable the module.
You may want to look into this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715
I cannot stress this enough.
READ READ READ.
Too many times have I seen someone read a line or 2 then rush right in ultimately turning their very nice phone into the most expensive paperweight one could own.
On that link I posted, read it until your eyes are bleeding if you truly need to start from scratch.
I am not joking here.

Thanks man. it makes sense. I will look into it. you mentioned read. I have read what I thought was plenty, but always ideas and opinions differ, sometimes knowing too much and causing what they say decision paralysis. Because I still read about the Xposed experiences and different people go about it in a different way. but what you mentioned about reverting back makes alot of sense.

Password wanted by TWRP and I rooted my phone with Click To Root

Password wanted by TWRP and I rooted my phone with Click To Root, I never gave them a password and when I try to do a Factory reset their screen comes up. to wipe, restore, and other utilities such as that. As far as the pass word goes I cant remember that and don't ever put one in just for this reason. Click to root support sucks because if I want to chat with an analyst it cost like $34.00 and they have a email support which I have heard nothing back from. also my screen is saying I have an available system update, I don't know if this has anything to do with the password?

This is why those one click root apps are not suggested! There's a way to fix this but why should I take the place of click to root and do it free?!
Wow why do you even bother to reply to my post? I mean really????????????????? And BTW I fixed it myself no thanks to you!
I was able to fix it by reading through some intelligent post from people that actually like to help people

An intelligent person wouldn't have used a 1 click root because they'd know how to do it the real way unlike you. Don't come back in with your little butt hurt self trying to be all keyboard warrior like towards me when you're the idiot that caused your own problem then comes running here for help instead of reading around first or learning how to unlock it the real way and I bet you think the fact that 1 click finally answered your e-mail is "intelligent people response" lmao... Keep trolling keyboard warrior! You sure made my morning funny!

UNKNOWN SOURCES keep's turning itself off...? Anyway to make it stay enabled?

Not sure why, but a friend has a S8+ tmobile and the install from unknown sources ALWAYS turns itself back to OFF....? Is there some trick to making it stay enabled?
I'm pretty sure it's happening to everyone. Feel like it's their way of saying repeatedly that they would rather you not sideload apps that you probably got for free instead of paying haha. I've done research on this as well as its more of an annoyance. Most likely will have to wait for root
Yep happens on mine also
Yup, here too. Waiting for root sucks! Hopefully something will be verified soon. You guys should really google "SM-N950U root and you'll find a slew of root methods, I'm just too scared to try them. I wish they would just say error and nothing happens rather than have the potential to brick your phone. Oh well, waiting it is.

Trust me, as a dev myself, you dont want to listen to those. They have been tried already. And if they worked, it would be posted all over here as all the s8's on each carrier are the same phone. We are all working diligently to figure it out.
Except me right now. I'm at the doctor refilling my adderall so I can binge work on it all weekend hah

Well I'm sorry the unknown sources not sticking is a real thing... but I'm glad its not just her phone. I was convinced something was wrong and almost reflashed the firmware just because.... but it's obviously that way for whatever the reason. You just have to turn it on before each install I suppose. No big deal.
As for root, the eng boot was leaked or developed or whatever you want to call it... bottom line its in the wild now, so I think sooner rather than later there will be at least a eng boot type of root. Nothing compares to a real unlocked bootloader. *IF* I get a Samsung again, it will be the Exynos ###F model with a unlocked bootloader... But I'm a flashaholic....... otherwise ROOTING is becoming like jailbreaking is for the iPhone (non-existent).... at least for us USA owners anyway
I had this issue at first. This is my first Samsung phone since the Note 3. I thought it was something to do with KNOX. But after a week, I reset my phone, set it up as usual. And now the unknown stays. I can't recall what I did different, but I know wiping it did something.

It's a bug. Should be corrected with a future update.
From what I've done, I believe it's actually Google turning it back on with the feature in settings, verify apps. Just turn it off and it shouldn't turn off the untrusted sources anymore. Since turning it off, I haven't had issues

I think that did the trick for me. I had thought I already turned that off but it came back. Once I disabled that though my unknown sources has stayed at least for a few hours now and through me installing some stuff.
EDIT: there it goes back off again! doesn't seem to be anything we can do

How were you able to change the navigation bar icon colors from the default white to green on your sm-N950?
I have turned ON "UNKNOWN SOURCES" on my phone 2-3 days ago and it is still on.
Anyone still having this problem?
What about the built in security app lookout, I have that and the google play verify off and have never had the developer option turn its self off I think it may be that app blocking harmful apps that we want to sideload by keeping that turned off maybe lol:good::highfive::goodI have had mine on since about mid sept. when i got the phone)
