Use 3button fix odin, not one click, and check "re-partition". I'm pretty sure thats what i read in the CM7 thread about this

[Q] Green Screen Of Death

Anyone Experience this?
Phone was on stock firmware from AT&T (never been rooted)
Plugged Phone Into the computer & opened Odin3Excution v1.00 & booted the phone into Download Mode and clicked Start on Odin. looked back at the phone minutes later and the phone had a full green screen. waited & waited and neither the phone or Odin were making progress. pulled the phone off the USB pulled the battery. restarted the computer and tried again. Now the phone will not boot at all not even the at&t smart phone screen and it wont boot into recovery or download mode.
The phone is being processed through warranty, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this or knows what happened. Thanks!
BTW the phone was charged 100% and the sim & sd card werent in the device.

Can a Admin move this to the question section. Sorry for posting in Dev.
Very interesting. Never heard of this. Pull the battery out and wait lets say 1h
Then plug the battery back and hold both volume buttons while inserting the USB. Dont touch the power button.

You can try not waiting at all at first. Just pull it out, put it it and follow what I said earlier.
i had a green screen in the middle of a flash back to stock with ODIN one click (every usb device stopped working on my machine at once)
fired it back up in download mode and odin'd it...no problem
Yep.. Mine too, two times, except that the screens was Light Blue and Yellow..
Moved to Q&A.
Lol funniest thing that I read this thread and then thought, wow must be one of the lucky one's cause that never happened. Next thing i know I go to flash back to stock and when i look over it was the green screen. I was like NOOOOO! So now im trying to install the drivers on my bro's comp since my windows partition is being a...well you know. Tried to use heimdall but I don't have the stock bootloader....just the sbl. Advice, if you don't wanna risk it, find a win machine and use odin one click downloader
Sorry to resurrect and old thread, but it was either this or start a new thread for the same problem.
I was flashing back to stock from Mosaic and this happened. Green screen and nothing else. Now it won't turn on or go back into download mode. Think a jig will help this?.
Edit: Waited about 10 mins and tried again. IT LIVES!!!!
it is worth a try of jig if key combo does not work.
the same thing just happened to me. i was using odin3excution v1.00 to flash back to stock before taking the phone in to AT&T to get the warranty replacement. i got the teal/green/blue screen at factortrfs, it just sat there and killed everything usb on my computer. i pulled the battery and tried to reboot into download/turn it on/plug it in, no response whatsoever. i have the battery pulled and im waiting to try again, but if that does nothing, what can i do? i could take it in and tell them it did this in the middle of the kies update, but is that even believable? any help is appreciated, i don't have a jig and making one is last resort. thanks brothersss

Please help me unbrick my Tab... *video added* SOLVED

Ok, I have an AT&T Tab, completely stock except for root. I downloaded the .apk to make sure my bootloader was fine, and it passed.
Wanted to install the Overcom ROM, so I followed the tutorial.
I got as far as the Odin step. The overcome kernel flashes just fine, but when the tab reboots it never gets to the samsung boot screen. It just sits black with the backlight on after the AT&T screen. After leaving it like that for awhile, I turned it off and tried to get into recovery. Same thing, it just sits black with the backlight on, won't boot into recovery.
I downloaded and installed Roto's latest JMI and got it working again, but its still very odd. Ive used Odin with my Captivate quite a bit, and it seems to be working just fine.
Whenever you boot it sounds like its working perfectly fine, but the screen is blank with just the backlight lit. It stays blank until you hit the power button, then it turns off, then you hit power again, and it turns on perfectly fine and works.
I tried getting into recovery and its still doing the same thing, blank screen with backlight on. I have no idea if its in recovery and I just can't see it or if its locked.
Also forgot to mention, whenever the screen is blank with the backlight on, there is white line that goes down the screen on the right from top to bottom. And now, even when its booted up and running the JMI firmware, that line is there the whole time.
OK, let it charge for a few hours, and the line was gone. It seemed to be running ok, so I downloaded a terminal emulator, and tried to reboot into recovery. It rebooted and did the same thing, AT&T logo then blank screen w/white line. Now its stuck again, it won't even boot up. Also, it still gets into download mode just fine. It comes right up, and no line.
Any ideas?

I thought JMI was stock firmware? What else is there? Someone posted the stock AT&T firmware, but as dicussed in the thread, it doesn't work. I tried it. This isn't a simple getting stuck at the boot screen, it doesn't even make it to the boot screen.
Added a video to the OP...
Just tried flashing the T-Mobile stock firmware for giggles. Same results as the Roto JMI ROM. You can hear it booting up, but all you can see is the backlight with white line. You can turn the screen off then on, and use it. It seems to work ok, until you turn it off, then it won't boot back up, just gets stuck like the video.
I've already contacted Samsung for a warranty repair, if I can't get this figured out (or someone here) its going back tomorrow.
If you look a little in the general section you will find a thread called at&t black screen with thin white line fix. It's a simple fix that involves flashing the jj4 bootloader. This happens to almost every at&t tab.

Good god why isn't that a sticky anywhere? I almost sent this thing back! Its working perfectly fine now. I'm currently converting to ext4, then I'll flash the Overcome ROM.
Thanks again man you saved me from sending this thing back. (I was even looking at Xoom reviews today )

[Q] I just need some quick help (I hope?)

Hello all, I admire all of your work. I just recently hit a problem and was wondering if you could help.
I had unofficial froyo from designgears, and was trying to install voodoo lagfix. I set it as an update.zip, it ran through the whole set-up with the talking lady and everything. It said it was complete, then it rebooted into my recovery (2e, but I just recently flashed 3e, so I don't know why that happened).
Then, it was doing it's thing, but got stuck on "Installing multi-csc". I let that sit for about 5 minutes, but nothing happened, so I hit reboot now. It rebooted back into 2e recover, and again got stuck on "Installing multi-csc".
I tried turning it off, then opening odin3 and trying to get into download mode, but everytime I plugged it in, it went to recovery.
Now, I took the battery out and SIM card and tried plugging it back in, and it gets stuck on the charging screen that shows when it is turned off. It won't even load how charged the battery is...I have no idea what to do...
You should still be able to get into download mode with this method- Remove battery and sim for 1 minute then only put the battery back in connect your charging cable only to your phone then while holding the volume up and down plug it into your computer while the phone is off and it should go right into DL mode
Edit: I forgot to add that you must have Odin already open for this to work properly
Thank God for you, my good sir! This will change the kernel back to stock as well, correct?
That is correct. It will change kernel and modem along with rom.

Haha no problem this method has worked for without fail many times and yes it will if you are using Odin one click but your phone must be build 1009(This is more of a guide line people above 1009 have successfully used it I believe) or below

[Q] Stuck in boot screen

I was running CM7 nightly builds. I was attempting to switch to the stable CM7 build with an ODIN restore. I couldn't get ODIN to recognize my phone, and a forum thread said to try re-installing the update.zip file from the recovery boot. It got hung up trying to do that and upon reboot, it is now stuck on the startup screen. Can't get to recovery, can't do anything. Any thoughts?
Help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!
have you pulled battery and started again? tried button combos? have you used odin since installing cm7? i believe it needs different drivers..... more info will get you more help. more reading will keep you out of trouble (mostly) i've never used cm7 so i can't help that much...
I have tried pulling the battery, running the battery to dead and then putting it on the charger, all the button combos.
I have not tried ODIN but thats because ODIN needs to be in download mode and I cant get into download mode. The only thing I can get to is the AT&T World Phone screen with the white background. I have done some google searching about getting stuck on the boot screen but none of the threads I have found have seemed to mot relate to my exact problem. I am currently looking into if this is the kind of problem that a jig would fix.
definitely sounds like a job for a jig.. it will force it into d/l mode as long as the bootloaders are not corrupted..... best of luck
if the bootloaders are corrupted, is there anything to do or is the phone just finished?
Jtag/unbrickable mod
I had the same loop yesterday doing something else, but i had the ATT boot loop and no button combos worked to get into DL mode. So I tried pulling the battery, then holding vol+/vol-, putting battery back in, and then plugging in usb cable. Went to DL mode. If that doesn't work, I'm sure a jig would.

Jtag should only be used for hard bricked phones. Since there is a sign of life, he can probably recover from this without the need of jtag.
Use a jig. It's the easiest way to get into dl mode. If you don't have one, you can make a crude one that will work until you can get a proper one ordered.

[Q] Phone Exclamation Point Computer

Got stuck here working with a friend's captivate. We were in the process of cobbling together a jig when we notices that Odin seemed to recognize the phone whenever it was at the P!C screen.
The jig wasn't working out (resistors were 5% weaker than nominal), so we just gave Odin the go ahead at the P!C screen. To our surprise, a progress bar popped up on the phone and Odin successfully flashed the stock kernel back on.
So my question is, is the P!C screen just another face for download mode? Do you really need to jig from P!C to DL mode, or are you already there?
Not 100% of the time, but most of the time yes.

Cool, that makes life easier. When it isn't, does Odin not pick it up? Or does it show but fail to flash? Just trying to get an idea of how these things act when they're pseudo-bricked. I'm coming from Droid X land where 2nd-init and SBF solve everything.
Odin will only find the phone if it can get into download mode. (Usually vol up + vol down > plug in cable)
Not true, Odin shows a com port when booted into Android and in recovery. But will only succeed if download mode protocol is initiated on the phone.

And to further add clarity, it's only the phone-!-computer screen that says "Hardware Upgrade Failure" (or something like that) that doubles as download mode. Coincidentally, that is only found in Gingerbread bootloaders. Happy Flashing
"Firmware upgrade failed" and even that's not completely true...if the flash you're attempting fails before the image for download mode is rewritten, then when download mode is initiated there is nothing to call on but that "flash failed screen" regardless of bootloaders.
That happened to me on my sisters captivate once...with eclair boots.

Weird. So, that would explain our situation. The flash failed while it was trying to negotiate the connection with the phone (or something worded like that, one of the first steps). So this jig is for real huh... Nothing like that in DROIDX land. Now that we've got it built right (no multimeter at the time, 301.6k ohms now) can we test it without altering anything? In other words, if we initiate download mode with the jig does any other kind of hard reset happen? NAND wipe or something like that? Or can we jig in to download mode to test the jig, then battery pull and reboot normally? (without plugging it in to a computer obviously - just a dry run)
Yeah, forcing dl mode shouldn't hurt anything. How do you think they test the ones that they make?
And you don't even need to yank the battery..just hold all 3 buttons and it'll reboot, if you hold them slightly too long it'll boot into recovery, but you can reboot it from there no big deal
Nice, thanks for the tip. I'll test it out tomorrow and see if my handiwork paid off. These unlocked bootloaders are fun! I do love my droid x but maybe the Verizon Galaxy S (fascinate?) would have been a good pick too.
Tangent: my friend is now up and running with the Corn KK4 7.06 under the stock ROM, got his root back. Next step, rom land.
