[Q] superoneclick root and then custom rom

i have a motorola milestone , just rooted my phone using the superoneclick method and it was smooth , thnx to the video by unlcker
and then i followed theor method to load a custom rom, HER IS MY PROBLEM
...
after opening the rom manager i flashed the clockworkmod recovery , and then as the video says reboot into recovery , i do tht n then ...
A WHITE COLOUR TRIANGLE ON THE SCREEN WITH A YELLOW EXCLAIMATION MARK
plz temme wht do i do nw , i have even copied the custom rom i wanted to load on the sd card so wht to do next .. detail steps will b helpful
and one more thing - in the video they use nexus one so the options in the recovery mode for both cells is different ( i reached her after pressing the volume up and camera button )
When you see the triangle with the exclamation sign, press the volume up and the camera button the same time.
You should see the recovery menu after.
i knw tht , thts wht ive written , i manage to get to tht stage but then after tht wht do i do , cuz the procedure in the video is different
in the recovery menu the options tht come are not the same as the options i got on the milestone , they use google nexus one in the vid

sometimes clockwork doens't flash the first time. do it again and see what happens. Otherwise, google for ways to flash using USB.
Some phones are just plain funky. My Droid, for example, simply wouldn't update properly to CM 6.1.2 via ROM Manager. I couldn't install anything using maps because the API wasn't there on the flash and I couldn't move it move it to flash (remounting r/w did work even though mount showed it mounted r/w). I had to reboot into recovery and manually wipe data and cache 3 times and then apply the new ROM.
when it reboots into recovery mode , there isnt ne option to take a back up .. cuz in the video it says first do tht step followed by installin the update zip file then clearing factory settings ..
if cw doesn't flash the first time, just nav to the bottom of the screen in ROM Manager and select "flash alternate" recovery and then re-flash clockwork after you've got a success. The process should take about 3-5 seconds before you get a "success". you may have to do it a few times for it to stick.
also, there is the possibility that you are not *PROPERLY* rooted and that your recovery replacement system is kicking in and causing the recovery to get replaced with the stock recovery.

When you get to the Open Recovery, what does it say on the 1st 3 lines?
From what you're describing, I think the vulnerable recovery sbf isn't installed on your phone.
I had the same issues. Here is what you can do:
- make sure you have the Motorola drivers installed;
- make sure RSDLite is detecting your phone properly;
- at the end of the process RSD should say FINISHED;
- if RSDLite shows a message saying 'Power on the phone', restart the phone back in bootloader mode (this is what worked in my case).
I installed Androidiani OpenRecovery, it's easier this way:

As long as you see

you've got it mixed up ... you perform a backup, then do a "factory reset" then flash the update.
backup is under "nandroid" in CW recovery. Just click "nandroid" then "backup". It will take a few minutes at least.
the BEST method of installing a ROM is to (after you've performed a backup) go to "partitions" then format /system, /data and /cache a FEW times each. then back out using the power button to the main menu. click "advanced" and click "wipe dalvik cache". then install your ROM from the sdcard.
that will get you the most reliable results.
aaaah you have a milestone, not a Droid. my bad -- i just saw you talking about ROM Manager and saw the posts on clockwork and went into auto-pilot. yeah s0ulreaver is right -- you need openrecovery, not clockwork, for the milestone.
and that is flashed most reliably using the SBF method.
ull need to remember ive rooted my phone using superoneclick method
in the rom manager i flashed clockworkmod recovery
then it says successfully downloaded clockworkmod recovery!
then then i reboot into recovery
i get 4 options
1. reboot system now
2. apply sd card : update.zip
3. wipedata/factory reset
4. wipe cache partition
E: can't open /cache/recovery/command ( i get this also written )
in the vid it says take a backup , but i dnt c ne option of taking the backup .. ???
Since you're on the milestone, not the Droid, you can't use rom manager to flash clockwork recovery. As you have just found out, it doesn't work with the milestone. You need to flash OpenRecovery via sbf to get a custom recovery so you can backup and flash a custom rom.

This has nothing to do with rooting your phone.
I've been through the same thing...
Read my post above as to what you need to do.

you don't need rsd to root your phone (obviously since you're already rooted), but you do need it to flash openrecovery, which is the recovery you need to make a backup and flash a custom ROM.
k then can u gimme in steps how do i do tht , plz

gladly follow this thread: [How-to] OpenRecovery,Root,Nandroid & other features
(--thanks to s0ulreaver for the link posted earlier in this thread--)
Start at the first how-to section in RED that reads: "How to enter the G.O.T. or the Androidiani OpenRecovery Menu"
Follow the instructions through Step 3 (flashing the openrecovery zip file).
*Any issues following that how-to should be posted in THAT thread.
hope that will do it for you
k after flashing the open recovery then whts the next step , suppose i wanna load a custom rom from cyanogen mod .. how do i do tht ?
cuz basically i need 2.2 on my cell
It depends for each rom. Read the instructions that come with it.
Some are flashed as 'updates' (e.g. Cronos), some come as an Androiniani backup (most that I've seen).
Read the instructions. Most of the time you must copy the rom on the SD card in a specific folder \mnt\sd\androidiani\backup\ etc. then go in OpenRecovery, Androidiani menu and Restore from there.
I could get into a tons of details and specifics, reading and following the rom's instructions is the solution.

update da cyanogen7.0.3 to 7.1 helpppppppppppp

how can I update my 7.0.3 to 7.1 milestone by cyanogen?
I downloaded the various rom and Google Apps
put in sd below openrecovery (vers.1.46) update
rds lite launched
initiated the milestone in bootloader (vers.90.78)
rds lite sees it and gives me the connect
then launch the recovery Vulnerable by 90.78 ....( already used to switch Froyo official cm7) but when it reaches 100% I get the message not Pass, but tells me to manually push the power up
fate that too, but when I go on the first reboot in recovery partition and wipe the cache is full and tells me wipe the cache, then when I try to make him apply sd card: update zip aprirmelo try but then I get signature verification failed
installation aborted and nothing m'installa
I do like to load x 7.1 cm?
I must return to 2.2.1prima then load the 7.1 ?????
and more than a week and I try but nothing
ah I forgot I also tried with rom manager premium (but does not work) but nothing associated with superuser elite
does not work
epic update that I'm damn phone was a mess even when I upgraded to 7.0, but not so
there is a file of cyanogen sbf 7.1??? at least so it would be easier
thanks guys
Try apply the GOT SBF... if it boots normally, start all over with the openrecovery and apply cm7

Can't flash any ROM via CWM (status 7 / efs not mounted)

I was on Darkys ROM for some months without any flashing problems. Now i wanted to change from Darkys ROM 10.1 (Gingerbread 2.3.4) to Galnet MIUI. I had to downgrade to Froyo and then install the CWM zip in CWM. This was NOT succesful. It always says "Installation aborted (Status 7)". Then i tried to install CyanogenMod 7.1. Upgraded to Gingerbread Stock with CWM 3 and when i first flashed it via ODIN the phone first booted in the standart Android CWM display (dont know the name sry). The phone automatically formated cache etc. but then it showed me 2 times "/efs is not mounted". I was able to boot and to open CWM but ALWAYS when i want to install ANY CWM ROM it shows me the message with Status 7 ...
EDIT: The message when i try to install a zip via CWM:
--INSTALLING: SDCARD: update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyS-signed.zip
Finding update package
Opening update package
Installing update
Checking state of BML/MTD
assert failed: run_program("tmp/updater.sh) == 0
E:Error in /mnt/sdcard/update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyS-signed.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

How can i mount /efs again and make CWM ROM Flashing able again?
Thank you.
I am not a dev, but I suggest you do a fresh ODIN flash to stock rom or this SIMPLY HONEY ( its got odin version & hence very easy to install ) rom.
I already flashed several (stock) roms... still not working
The first thing you every do before flashing a rom is a nandroid backup.... use this to recover...
I hope to hear oh thanks i didn't remember about that, lol. But i do not expect it...
Do you have any backups, of the /efs maybe? If you do then find out how to put that back on..
An option would be to use adb to try fix it, first try the obvious and try mount the ef, if that doesn't work then tell me what files you have in the efs... and we'll try help you from there.
If you don't know hoe to use adb there is a pinned thread in the general forum, and I have made a there is a basic tutorial in a number of places either search here or google

[Q] my w8 stuck on boot screen and does not start

Hi. I tell my problem, i have w8 and i had setup clockwork mod, xrecovery, gingerbread xd rom and cyanogenmod 7. after i saw that cyanogen mod 7.1 released, and i tried to install it. First i put zip archive to my sd card, after i tried to load it from clockwork mod, but it gave me "error 7", after i searched a lot, and i found i need to change the updater-script in order to do install new cyanogen version. after i changed my clockwork mod version to the latest. then i did all, and i had setup all correctly. but after, my phone did nothing more than just showing splash screen. it does not show even clockwork mod screen nor gingerbread dx screen. so what do i need to do? i can't use my phone for 3 days. and i couldn't find any solution on the internet.
ok i did it. i am using sony sonyericsson pc companion software to go back original firmware now.
hey.. w8 has android 2.1 so if you are trying to install any rom of android 2.3 you first need to install android 2.2!!! so go step by step....
android 2.1 (stock rom)--->install any rom of android 2.2 ---->now try android 2.3!!!
hope u understand!!! cheers

[Q] What to do?

This is a Samsung Galaxy Ace newbie user. I've previously owned a Galaxy Y and have successfully flashed many roms, bricked, unbricked, etc. many times.
Now I upgraded to a hand me down galaxy ace from my mom. I started trying out roms. I followed this tutorial:-
h t t p : / /w w w .android .gs /update - galaxy - ace - android-4-4-2-cm11 - firmware
{Remove the spaces. I'm new here so I can't add URLs. Forgive the cheating}
I used CWM 6.0.4.6
Now my phone works properly but I can't add a google account. Everytime I try It shows connection error whereas the internet works just fine when I use the browser. I am unable to fix it by flashing a gapps package.
The CWM recovery is unable to install the gapps package.
Somehow I installed root explorer using terminal emulator. I installed another google play but it also doesn't work. The problem continues.
The root explorer asked for downloading some extra utilities(optional) so I confirmed but it doesn't download. I thought about changing the ROM but the CWM doesn't install it.
I tried down-grading the CWM but the upgraded one doesn't do that. It aborts the installation.
I can't get the stock roms so I can flash using odin.
I don't know ANYTHING about programming. I'm 14. Please help
Hi Shikharmn.
From your current recovery, you could flash the Mardon's last Recovery CWM 6.0.4.7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49997664&postcount=143,
from that recovery you could flash 5.0.2.6 recovery and then custom roms.
Cheer. Good luck.
