Tv shows streaming is on the market . Had it for months . Constant updates .. I think its four bucks ... but literally every season of every show . HBO showtime , all that . Its just a glorified search engine

What would happen if an app wasnt legal, could it just be pulled and stopped from working, could any consequences happen to downloaders?

Technically could ... but highly unlikely . Especially on mobile devices . Just the person that is making profit from it is usually the person that gets ruined .

So what about all of these stupid free mp3 apps, the person downloading it has to be able to get in trouble, or music sharing would be crazier than it already is.

The app I'm taking about and I believe the op as well, is different. It's a free app. that doesn't seem to be in the market now. I have the app icon circled in this pic

I'd imagine that if the app doesn't warn you against downloading illegal content, you'd be fine. If there is a warning then download at your own risk.

I have a lot of apps for tv sows, but if you have a good connection or wifi I just use the same sites that I use on my computer.
I had a thread in here somewhere, but didn't get much interest.
The main site I use is fastpasstv.com then when you find the show you want look at what links they offer. I try to only use wisevid, zshare, or wootly links if available. Wootly being the fastest to load.

When the average person downloads something from the android market, I'm pretty sure they don't question the legality of what they are downloading. Most would assume that if it's in the market then it's fine.

"Ignorantia juris non excusat" -- ignorance of the law does not excuse.
Just last November, the Supreme Court reminded us of that when it refused to hear an appeal from a woman who claimed she didn't know she had been illegally downloading music. She said she just thought she was doing something akin to listening to an internet radio station.
In other words, while the chances of getting caught are extremely slim, the "I didn't know it was illegal!" defense is a surefire way to face enormous fines.
Oh, and yes: those too-good-to-be-true free media downloading apps (whether music or TV shows) absolutely do link you to illegal downloads.

Clapton/Fender branded mytouch music app

Just wondering, has anyone seen/used the new music app from the upcoming Fender branded MyTouch? Or better yet, anyone have a dump I can pull it from? I'm wondering if it is any better than the so-so stock Android music app. And I'd love to see if it can be ported to 2.1 easily, ideally for a high res screen like the nexus.
its called "Rock on" in the market
Wow...really????
Pretty dissappointing. Was hoping to finaly see a worthy music app for android.
Oh well.
Haha, they decide to make a custom edtion mytouch by adding a paid market app.....what a stupid move.....Eric Clapton can keep his myTouch

Seriously? And here I was, all hopeful. Now, it's interesting to note that, while it is a paid app, it's also open-source, so no rights to worry about there. A ROM dev could easily include it if he wanted. (Not that it's much better than stock, I'm just noting.)

I now own a fender edition mytouch and I can honestly say that rock on and the music app on the fender share some traits, but are NOT the same app at all.
Rock on is trying to be too asthetic for its own good as the music app on the fender is actually quite fluid. That is the music app that should have been incorperated with android from the very beginning. Of course, this is just my opinion...
Due to the lack of a working computer as of yet, I am limited to what I can search and for how long. Trying to search these forums on a dream within the tmobile 3g coverage, I am asking for a little help on the matter of getting this app out there on the dreams.
Just a request, please consider it...

Maxisma already has. Just ask him what to change in the build.prop. The music app is the unframework-dependent version of the Hero Music app
But that's me asking him to hand it over to just me.
I was requesting for someone to up it for every Dream owner...
If it's no trouble, of course...
So I found a stock fender ROM and removed the HtcMusic.odex and HtcMusic.apk
Signed the apk and attempted to adb push it.
Odex went fine but apk hangs. guessing it won't happen this way.
If I only knew how to make an update.zip for it or metamorph or something...
If anyone knows how to get this working, let me know and I'll post the HtcMusic.apk for you to tinker with. I just tried to mess around with it and to no avail. I failed like the noob that I am. But if I were to have an HtcMusic.apk that actually worked on the dream, I would be able to compare the two and be able to do it on my own next time...
He posted it on his twitter for everyone to use, he's not keeping it to himself :b
found it:
http://www.4shared.com/file/203385226/9210488f/HtcMusic.html
from what I understand, that's the music player, not the MUSICAL app I'm looking for:
Anyone?
Thank you for your attempt but I bet you were thinking the same thing I was last night. 'I'll just pull it from the ROM' well certain things need to be done to that apk that require a more knowledge that what I have to offer.
And I would have never known that he put it up on his twitter cause I don't use twitter. Don't even know what a twitter looks like. But I'll keep it in mind. Thank you for the help but let's get this out there...

Yes you download full Angry birds from Getjar then you can use Side loading app .

Lots of people, including myself, are getting the "Not found in Market" error.
But do what the first reply said. Download it from Getjar or even from this thread which also says ANGRY BIRDS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809431
Then install using the Sideload Wonder Machine found here: http://images.androidcentral.com/sites/androidcentral.com/files/downloads/AC-SWM-v1.0.zip
Edit: Just wondering how you didn't see this before

Install app brain, thats where i found it
airplane mode and turn on wifi. this still works for me.
if you do the ota update it should show up.
I have JH7 installed from an earlier cognition version. I just now installed the full version for free from the android market. Anyone else able to do so?
If you do not have the ota update you will not be able to find it.... Do the OTA.
I check that post before i posted mine and the main issue i had is that getjar would not let me download the app (phone not supported) when i download the app to my phone i am not "allowed" to sideload apps, and i have checked the market both in airplane mode with wifi on and in regular 3g mode... still can't get it sometimes simple things can be very annoying to complete...
There was another download link in the thread if you actually read it. You then could have put it on the phone with Sideload Wonder Machine. It's not that hard if you actually read. I promise you all the resources are there and available to you.
Thank you for your help now I have successfully installed angry birds

I had the same problem with the new Angry Birds (V1.5.1). Appbrain, Android Marketplace, from phone, from PC on web, etc, none will allow me to upgrade or fresh install AB anymore (tho they did allow me to install the newest AB Seasons w/ valentine levels).
Got the APK from site listed on previous page, tried to use the "Wonderful" sideloader app also listed therein (tho it doesn't support upgrading sideloading--upsideloading?--) and finally loaded the apk directly from my phone's internal microSD (I'm rooted).
why is it some apps are blocked in teh market for my ATT Captivate? Did I screw something up, or is ATT just screwing with us?
AT&T likes to think they know better then us and censor our market app. Custom ROMs ftw with uncensored markets.

And a vendetta against Rovio/Angry Birds? I think ATT policy must be set by an evil idiot. Not evil mastermind, mind you, just an idiot.
finally figured out the simplest way to install ATT censored stuff w/o going to a new ROM again or sideloading: Power off. remove SIM. Power on. Enable Wifi. Go to marketplace. yeah, you know where this is going...

Hey guys,
Found the problem you are having. Look in titanium backup and see if you have Verizon Signon Services 1.something in there. You need that. Flash the most recent radio and ROM and it should be bundled with it (it is with BAMF 1.5 at least). I am sure there are alternate ways of getting this on your phone though.
Looking at my titanium backup, it's called: "Verizon Single Sign-On Engine 1.0.13"
You need that for the NFL app to work and be able to verify the needed info and such

I don't have the Verizon Signon Services 1, well, at least I couldn't find it...Where did you see that? Also, maybe it is because I don't have the most recent radio? I doubt it though. I don't want to flash it because I've read people are having trouble with reboots and poor battery life. Was going to wait till another one leaks. But that might be the reason...

Hey you definitely need the Verizon Single Sign-On Engine for the NFL app to work at least, not sure if the version matters, but that is definitely a must.
As far as I can tell I came from BAMF 1.3* and I de-sensed it and it wasn't included then, I ran into the same issue as you, upgraded to 1.5 and flashed the new radio and noticed it in my listings.
Here is a screenshot of my titanium backup app list with the Verizon Sign-On Engine showing:

[APP] Pandora Unlimted by Yak [with themes]

Pandora Unlimted by Yakitori
***Note: This thread is frequently under construction. I will try to port themes to all versions of Pandora, as well as improve upon the theme work. This is also just a side project. Requests will be considered, but honestly I don't feel like text color changes...but image changes I have time for. . Also, each new market update I will post the app and ask for someone to test. I will put it in the OP once testing reports back and confirms unlimited skip/ads, etc.
Wtf is it:
This is a side project that I am working on to get my theme work fix while I am busy this summer..and unable to complete entire rom themes. This is a list of Pandora Radio apps that I have modified to give the listener the experience of Unlimited skips. In the process, I am attempting to nuke audio ads. This is sketchy due to the fragmentation of android devices and how poorly Pandora is able to handle this characteristic of android. Therefore…I am listing these as Unlimted Skip features….if you do NOT get ads…its just an added bonus. If you DO get ads, please post here with.
Device:
Audio/Video/Banner ads:
Frequency of ads:
Rom:
ALL apps have been modified to provide unlimited skips…the section they are listed in only refers to the theme work done to the app.
Installations:
All of my apps are signed and should include Dropbox download links so it will download directly to your phone. Delete the current version of Pandora you have before installing my modded ones. They are signed using a testkey, and may or may not allow updates through market. This will vary depending on your device. Mine were unsuccessful, but others have reported the ability to update via the market. IF you update to a new release in the market…you WILL LOSE the unlimited skip features. After download just click install…and sign in. That’s it!
Suggestions:
Rooted users download Adfree Android app from market (free), and update your host file AFTER installing my modded version. This will increase the likelihood of nuking ads. Only report ads if you have updated your host…and still get them. If you are not rooted…Root it. Lol.

HA! XD ima click ur thanks button
I would recommend AV for only the remote lock, wipe, and gps features in case of theft/loss. There are other, non AV apps that do this too though. Such as Seekdroid.
Lol. Ithingy...

+1 for Seekdroid
Haven't had to put it to use thankfully but if my phone ever does get stolen, I feel bad for the poor fellow who gets his hands on it... Very powerful app! Can remotely track the device, activate an alarm if you've lost it at home, lock the phone remotely and even do a full wipe, all from your web browser. Currently inside my house and it locates me to an accuracy of 4 meters... And the BEST part, IMO, you can HIDE it from the app drawer on the phone itself!
And as mentioned earlier, Antivirus is not needed. 99.9% of apps that come through the Market are safe.
Thank you all. I am aware that there are hardly any viruses out there for android devices, but i am currently in the midst of trying.. keyword: trying to root my phone, and i dont want to put any viruses from the files i download from the PC, onto my beloved smartphone, so once again thanks guys
and if any one has some free time and would be willing to guide me through the process of getting rid of bloatware (ive already rooted my phone, and backed up everything i just dont know what to do next) i would be willing to ship 10$ =)

Download Script Manager from the market, then run one of the debloating scripts in the dev section. There's one by psouza and another one, I used the other one. It has options to keep certain apps in the script.

Dphwhitty, ive done that in the past, downloaded script manager, ran both scripts, neither one of them worked saying i had a syntax error. But thanks anyways man

The 2011 version also has real-time driver distraction monitoring, ID 10-T error updating, and for some reason a toolbar.
I think AV is good enough. Added feature is that you get remote wipe if your phone ever gets lost.

FYI common sense doesn't protect you from things such as exploit and web script based infections.
I personally use Lookout. But honestly its not something you need to worry about too much, yet. But I'm sure its going to be a problem next year. Play it safe and only install apps that have high install counts on the market and high ratings.

That's the 2012 version that covers that

What is the best anti virus software for my droid?

Well, unless you are doing A LOT of side loading (installing non market apps) from random sites or are using pirated applications there is absolutely no need for anti-virus on a linux based system..
You as the end user are 100% in control of what apps gain permission and using common sense by looking at what permissions your giving said applications is up to you to decide.
The only virus I've heard of was found in china and pretty sure it was a side loaded application and it would steal data like phone numbers and e-mail addresses and the person was selling the information to spam sites.
Like I said though, if your just downloading apps from the android market your fine.

Your right, android already does that. Unless someone writes a script/exploit to get around asking permissions for root since the browser doesn't run as a root application. Android has very high security when it comes to web browsing. Remember, we are talking about linux.
In my opinion the best protection is a firewall, DroidWall does the job well.
