Is it possible? if so how is everyone getting into recovery mode on the ZIO
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Warning: This is the same as hitting "factory reset" in android, so you WILL wipe your data/cache upon reboot to recovery, so back ur stuffs up.
Recovery is essentially useless to us until koush gets clockworkmod recovery working for the zio (he has a couple images on his site already, but they do not work).
Kyocera has brilliantly tied in the factory reset feature of android to the recovery partition. This is why koush's recovery isnt working. I have flashed the recovery to the boot partition and ran it fine, so I know the image works, theres just no work around (as of yet) to the factory reset problem.
That is what I was afraid of. I had attempted several times with different key press combinations to no avail. Then I used ROM Manager to put it in recovery and it just wiped the phone, I of course had my Titanium back up ready to go so...... no worries. oh well guess I will keep messing around then.

so i did the 1-click rooting thing BUT the problem is that i wasnt supposed to let my phone reboot into normal mode and that caused the process to become undone. now, when trying to boot into recovery, i get the exclamation mark with the 3 options. please help me @[email protected] i'd rerun the recovery flasher program BUT my phone was wiped too and i cant get past the gmail screen. i have no data plan
android reflashed my recovery partition with the built-in backup DDDDDDDDDD:
If you get a recovery image when pressing home and end than youhave a recovery just boot a rooted rom like cyan's in and you will be good to go, you can acess your sd on a computer by going into recoverey console and typing ums_enable to mount your sd and ums_diable to unmount
i dont think i can, because my phone rebooted into normal mode and android reflashed my recovery partition with the built-in backup, so i dont get the usual recovery mode screen. i have the exclamation markw here you have to press alt+L and theres only options to wipe, install the update.zip and reboot.
Alright then you will need to find a way to acess your card like another phone or card reader if you can not get past that, once you can read, download a rom and rename it update.zip, if you are windows it hides the extension so just rename to update, by the way how did you get the orignal recovery if you used the one click witch flashes cm recovery 1.4 were you have a lot more options and don't have to hit alt-whatever
i did use flash cm recovery. but like it said, after rebooting into normal mode on accident, android reflashed my recovery partition. i wouldve had the screen with more options if that hadent happened. and i wiped too, so i couldnt access the phone due to being locked out because of the stupid log in screen. by the way, do you know how to get past it without another sim and data plan?
The recovery image is immune to wipes and partion cleaning, it is deep in the sif you get acess to your sd and put a rom on there ystem, without an adp phone, there really no way past that login without a custom rom, yes painif in the ass, try another sim get into phone and reflash the recovery to go any farther, once you have cm recovery 1.4 than you can really go, if you can put a rom on your sd before reflashing recovery and you can not get it go past the recovey that you are on now than you do not have permission and you are not rooted
Hi Folks,
I had a CyanogenMod-6.1 for Nexus One :: V6.1.0-RC1 (10/28/2010) installed on my Nexus 1.
Prior to that i was using CM6.0 RC1 stable release. Did an upgrade (with full void and nandroid backup) to try out the new features.
However this afternoon, out of nowhere, my volume buttons and trackball started to malfunction.
i.e to say : I cannot adjust volumes in any part of the apps/phone and i can't select/click stuffs with the Trackball.
Hence, I thought of removing CM6.1. Here's the problem started.
#1. I can't boot into recovery. The phone itself will be stuck at the big "X" screen. After 5mins, it will boot into CM6.1
- Using ROM Manager i tried to reflash Clockwork Mod 2.5.1.0 for a couple of times but i still cannot get into Recovery.
Be it powering up with trackball held down, booting into recovery up via Rom Manager. Surprisingly, volume down was working together with power down was able to go into Bootloader
for me to select "Recovery", however, i still can't access Recovery.
#2. I tried using ./fastboot-mac flash recovery updatedclockwork.img also can't.
#3. I tried using Amon-RA. ./fastboot-mac flash recovery Amon-RA.img also to no avail.
#4. i used ./fastboot-mac update to load a StockFRF91 Froyo also can't get into recovery.
As of now, my phone is stuck continuously in bootloop, cannot access Recovery. I've tried almost 30+ fixes on XDA and other Android Forums but i still can't fix it.
Is there anyway, i can wipe everything inclusive of the "Corrupted Recovery" files and restore back my Nexus One?
Thank you all please save my phone! :'(
Dude I feel your pain. I have the exact same problem. I wonder if it is a CM6 issue?
Every place i have searched says to get into recovery hold volume down + power. Why does it not work for me? I installed clockwork and i can get into the recovery via the app but when i power down all it does is reflash the stock rom and im back to square one. ive tried multiple searches but it seems like im the only one and its really bugging me. whats worse is that i tried installing cyanogen for the first time and i didnt know i had to clear data cache and now im stuck at the logo and everytime i try getting into recovery it just once again flashes back to stock which is unfortunately the cyanogen rom that wont let me boot. fantastic
You have a G2X, so you need that forum.
You have to NVFlash recovery if you want to boot straight into it.
Hello!
Can you still see the CWM?
Don't forget - don't press too long, release when the logo changes otherwise the phone will continue to boot and you might be stuck again.
Then as always... format /system, format /data (you find it in mounts and storage)
Wipe dalvik (found in advance)...
Install zip from SD-card (CM7), install gapps - then you should be good to go.
I have a rooted HTC Hero (Sprint) and during preparations for upgrading to CM7 I ran into issues with ROM Manager.
First, I backed up everything (apps and data) via two different methods. I cleared davlik cache, and then performed a CWM Flash Recovery backup. Once that completed successfully, I sought out to apply the CM7 ROM. I selected it from the GUI menu, rather than rebooting into the Flash Recovery. I selected to backup everything and then wipe the data/cache. During the process, the phone hung (white HTC screen for over 10 minutes). I could reboot successfully after this, and selecting "Recovery" didn't work either. I figured my phone was bricked. But miraculously, it managed to finally recover.
The recovered ROM was a fresh clean slate. So, I installed ROM Manager and Titanium backup again. However, when I tried to reboot to the CWM Flash Recovery, or even try entering the CWM CUI menu from power up (by holding the HOME key), the phone hangs. Something is seriously screwed up with ROM Manager. I'd like to wipe it completely clean and start over, but everything I've tried results in a phone that hangs. I'm now thinking I should use a different program for managing the ROMs... but, being familiar with ROM Manager and seeing other people use it successfully, I feel determined to make it work. Any suggestions?
I would just flash an RUU and start from scratch.

I was able to recover.
What I didn't realize is that the first boot can take upwards of 20-30 minutes. I pulled the battery after around 15 minutes, thinking my phone had hung.
Anyway, when I selected "Recovery" again I left the phone alone and eventually I got a stock ROM again. Whew!
While ClockworkMod is fine for 2.1, when you're on 2.3 there's no question that TWRP is the way to go. I've flashed it to my phone (did "flash_image recovery [recoveryfilename.img]") from the terminal window and it's working great, far more extensive than ClockworkMod.
I am trying to get back to Stock Recovery need to warranty out my phone for a hardware issue. I have tried many methods listed in different searches and nothing works.
I used Flashify to drop TWRP recovery on my phone and it works great, but when I went to restore my Stock Recovery, it reboots and with no recovery? I get the recovery cover page "Factory hard reset" after pressing the Power key twice, I get a blank screen and have to do a hard shutdown. Factory Recovery doesn't seem to install. I can reboot and re-install TWRP Recovery and it works fine, just can't get back to "Stock Recovery".
Ideas or directions would be very helpful.
Thanks.

You can easily get back to 100% stock with stock recovery to make Verizon happy.
Search this xda thread for VS98027A_05.kdz and put it on your phone with LG Flash Tool 2014.
Just follow the recipe exactly and it will work first time.
