Hi,
I just installed latest radio and spl (2.22.27.08 and 1.33.0013d) as well as COS-DS.
It's working really well except for Tethering and Wireless. Both don't seem to be completely broken though.
I can activate tethering, but on my PC nothing happens (did work perfectly before with CM 6.1).
Wireless can scan for networks, but I just can't connect. It always says it's trying to connect than "not connected" and it just tries again and again. I verified the password several times and it's definitely correct.
Is there anything I need to change/install to get tethering and wireless working?
Thanks in advance!
I just updated to RADIO-2.22.28.25, unfortunately it didn't help :-(
Update: Just tried different things, now tethering is working suddenly.
Still no luck with wireless, what could I try to fix that?

Using my Tilt from AT&T I swapped out the stock ROM for the Sleuth v3 ROM and haven't had a problem since. Well until now. This morning I realized that the WiFi wasn't connected when I went to get a file from my email, normally it's just easier to do that rather than download it to my PC and transfer it. But when I went to activate the WiFi, the WiFi turned off immediately after establishing a connection to the router.
I know it's not the router, the PC I'm using right now is connected to it, as are 2 other PCs. I tried connecting to another wireless network, but the WiFi on the Tilt does the same thing - connect then deactivate.
I'm pretty much stuck and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?
*edit* Sorry, forgot to mention that up until now I haven't had an issue with the wireless.
*edit2* Using the internet sharing, I'm suddenly now connected to the wireless network? Maybe I somehow blundered my way through... I'll experiment and keep this post updated.
my Trinity 3600i got same wifi issue as yours before. but It seems recover after I reflashed a new rom.
Ok so now I'm not really sure whats going on. From Comm manager, I click the WiFi button and it starts to connect. Once it does, the WiFi is disabled within 1-2 seconds of connecting.
I tried the Internet Sharing option with my Tilt hooked up to my PC and instead of connecting to the EDGE network, it connects to the wireless network. When I look at the comm manager screen again, the internet sharing is disabled, but the wifi is enabled.
Same thing is happening to me. I connect for a second, and then wireless lan disables itself. Using dutty's WM6.1 WWE with radio 1.58.26.20. I have another att tilt with the same problem (I unlocked it one earlier today). I'm going to try messing around with my router a little more.
Anyone got any ideas?
edit: apparently, if it's connected to your computer via usb, if you turn on wireless lan, it'll shut itself off. Then if you unplug the usb, it'll turn on. boy do I feel stupid.
ah haha, i totally forgot about the USB wifi thing, i usually dont let it connect when im connected to the computer so i forgot about this x.x very sorry i couldnt have helped about this ealier
I just hope this addresses your problem Elm0
Hey guys so ive tried ever wireless tether app under the sun and none ever seem to work for me.
Im running Cyan's 4.01, PdaNet the wired version works flawlessly for me when i tether it to my computer, however done of the wireless ones EVER work for me, ive tried both aNetshare and the "Wireless Tether for Root" App that is floating around on the forums here, neither have ever worked for me
i have absolutely no problems connecting my computer to my G1 via wifi when using these programs, however the connection is always Peer to Peer and Local only, never internet and it never works
any ideas?
What OS are you trying to tether with?
Ensure your wifi network settings have DHCP set....
ALSO if you're wifi uses a NON-Microsoft Wifi settings software (e.g. Intel's or Broadcom) disable it and use the microsoft stack.
Are you trying to connect via Ad-hoc? Also are you using the WEP encryption? Does it give you any errors or just doesn't seem to connect?
The computer im connecting with is running Vista.
Im not using any form of WEP encryption is 100% open, it has no problems connecting peer to peer but the internet is inaccesible via tethering, it connects fine with no errors but it states local only with no internet access
Also as another side note, i use a program called SwiFTP which runs FTP via wifi so i can transfer file to and from my computer and G1 wirelessly , however that system never works, whenever i go to enable it, it says "Error Opening port, check your network connection" and the program does not work, ive tried changing different ports, i used the default port 2121 and it cannot open it, i also tried other random ones like 23 etc and it can never open a port or seem to work
Are you trying to connect via Ad-Hoc?
No, im using "Wireless Tether for Root Users" app downloaded off this forum
I think that is the problem. When you try to connect to the G1 on your computer, you have to set up the computer to connect via Ad-Hoc, not on the G1.
Not sure of the entire setup process, but go to the control panel and click on set up network connections (or something along that line) somewhere in the options of connection types there should be Ad-Hoc. You will have to enter the network name and confiure the WEP encryption, but it is pretty easy.
You should be able to figure it out from there. Let me know if you have any more problems.
access control option
have you checked the access control settings? if this is enabled, you have to manually allow the machines internet connection.
Hey, I had to apk's fo rthis the signed_andtether_1_52-pre2.apk did not work. The file labeled Signed_andtetehr_1_52.apk works everytime.
Firewall?
Sure your Vista Firewall is on? If so FORCE it off and try again...
I've just updated to the latest Cyan and the thing I'm most interested in is the USB tethering. I know all I have to do is have my phone plugged into the computer and check the Internet Tethering box, but after that I don't know what else to do. The device was installed onto my computer after I checked the box, but is there something else I'm supposed to do?

i havent tried it yet but i believe you are supposed to look for a network on your computer
yes, on vista for me it automatically set up the connection, try searching for one, also to be safe make sure you are running the very latest which is 4.2.3.1. we have used pdanet a paid app, and this has improved the speed dramatically. hope you get it working!
After the device installs nothing happens.I've tried searching for connections on the computer, but it doesn't work. I have my phone connected to a router, so would that be a problem? I'm, not exactly sure if I'm supposed to tether the actual T-Mobile network or if I can just tether wifi.
Wouldn't work for me on wi-fi but worked perfecly fine on T-mobile's 3G. Fast too!!! I streamed some videos with no problem.
Windows Vista Home Premium x64
Found driver and connected without my interaction.
Today i forgot my usb data cable at home and found myself desperately looking for an internet connection with my laptop. Ive downloaded 'bernacle wifi tether' , tetherblu and '' wireless tether for root users''.
Neitherr worked for me. In all of those my laptop could see the network those apps produced but could not connect even at maximum signal strenght.
Did anyone ever succeed with wifi tether on the n1?
Edit:rooted with cm 5.0.6
ive used barnacle, its pretty nice
any messages on why it couldnt connect? your laptop support ad-hoc networks?
Sorry for my noobility ..i dont know what is an ad hoc network. I dont receive any errors, it tryes to connect until it times uot saying it couldnt connect or repair the connection of unlnown reasons. Im using vista x64 on an n80x5 assus notebook. Could it be that i need some additional drivers for the n1?
No, you don't need any drivers to connect to WiFi.
Tested WiFi teather for root when downloaded it, works perfectly.
Check your laptop settings, I'd guess that it has absolutely nothing to do with the phone.
Barnacle became my #1 wifi tether program. works evertime. it might be the way you have your laptop setup or something. WiFi teather for root works also.
If you have static ip on your laptop...then none of those will work. Set your laptop to obtain ip automatically...i bet it work then.
Problem solved !
it was indeed a problem with my network adapter's driver.
Works great now!
thank you!
Hi,
at first sorry for my english, it's not my main language. At second, I searched but didn't find anything here about my issue.
I set up 2 vpn connections in my P20 Pro (one to work, one to my home). Both vpn connections are working if I am connecting from mobile network connection. But the connection won't establish when trying to connect from a Wi-Fi (doesn't matter which, tried several different Wi-Fi's). The ports are open, the credentials etc. are correct and it's working from Wi-Fi on another Smartphone without problems.
I go to the vpn-menu, hit connect and 1 second later I get the message "not successful" for both connections.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem? Is it a known problem?
Thank you in advance
Best

I had the same issue. VPN connection was correctly set up to an AVM Fritzbox 7490.
Always used to work with my previous phone, stopped working when I started using my new P20.
When I read your comment a few minutes ago, the VPN connection (no settings changed) all of a sudden worked when I checked.
You may want to retry and check if it works. I don't know if some firmware update fixed the problem in the meantime, but now it works on my device.
Oliver.
I'm using Tunnelbear VPN on my Pro, and so far no problems with using it on wifi. Maybe just restart your Pro.

I have to correct myself here.
Unfortunately it looks like after a fresh reboot the VPN connection over WIFI works. Then after a couple of hours, it fails. Whereas the VPN connection over mobile data works a few seconds after the failed WIFI attempt.
Rebooted - VPN connection over WIFI successful again.
Pretty annoying.
Oliver.
Hi,
sorry, I forgot to post here. For me it worked after turning off "WiFi-Calling" and restarting the phone. I also would like to have WiFi-Calling because of bad cell reception at work but VPN is more important for me.
To be clear, this issue only persists when using integrated android VPN functionality. I didn't try other VPN-Apps from the play-store or somewhere else because I don't use 3rd party VPN-connections.
I didn't try to enable Wifi-Calling and testing VPN after the last upgrade (last week or so). Maybe they fixed it?

Interesting; I didn't know Android now has built-in VPN; going to check it out. (Awhile ago, I decided to go with either Tunnelbear or OpenVPN because they seemed to be the only VPNs that had independent security audits done.)
