I want to buy the seidio active case but I've read in some reviews that the coating on the back peels off. Has anyone had that problem? And I'm wondering if it is just the black one.
Does anyone know of a similar kind of case that would do a better job?
Yes. I have this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-ACTIVE-Droid-Incredible-Pearl/dp/B003UTV03O
Been using it for over a month and so far it's great. Only issue with the white is that it's starting to turn a little gray from dirt. I'll probably buy a blue one after it gets nasty enough.
The white looks cool if clean, but it's hard to keep it that way.
To you I'd recommend:
http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-ACTIVE..._1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1313800802&sr=1-4
I've researched a bunch of cases before I settled on this one and I'm still glad I did. Only thing I regret was picking white. Very solid, doesn't slip off, isn't too grippy but isn't too sleek either. Makes it easy to hold, really a great case. Oh and it looks hella sexy.
I've had mine in burgundy for well over a year, with no peeling, flaking, or any problems at all. It's saved my phone on many occasions, including face-down drops onto the roadway. When it gets dirty, I just take it off and wash it off with soap and water.
Well worth the money.

I have the exact same case, in the same color. I have to agree with Myron 100% All you need is a little soap, maybe a washcloth or soft brush, and it'll look brand new and have that soft-touch feel again. Be sure to take the case off your phone before cleaning it.
I used that case forever! I had the black one, it was awesome! Best case ive ever had, upgraded to the extended battery and cryd a little bit because i couldnt use it anymore... great case though!

I like the case. My only complaint is the rubber piece on the edges picks up pocket lint.

I know this is off topic, but I didn't want to start another thread.
What's the best way I can protect my dinc while at the gym? I was using the rocketfish Bluetooth headset and Pandora while at the gym and I was able to leave my phone in my gym bag, but as of yesterday my headset stopped holding a charge. So now I'm stuck with using the 3.5mm earphones. I am using the 2150 extended battery, but I can switch back to the stock battery seeing is how I have a trident kraken case laying around. Would that be enough protection for my dinc from moisture and the occasional drop of weight on it? Or is there anothet alternative? I also don't want an armband holster, I would prefer to keep my phone in my pocket.

I also have the seidio active (burgundy) i love this case its decent protection and it dosent make the phone to bulky. It also looks really nice.
Have a seidio Active white case on right now. Great case, great protection, dropped my phone about 4 times since i put it on a year ago and never a scratch on the Inc, including the one time when it hit the pavement facedown when i forgot it was on my lap leaving my car.
As others said the white gets really dirty, i throw my phone on my bed each night and my red bedsheets have tinted the white to become red - LOL.

This is by no means a major complaint and not really something that makes me dissatisfied with the phone. I just wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this and felt like pointing it out.
I decided to play some music the other day while I was getting some work done, so I picked what I wanted to listen to and set it down on the table. I immediately noticed that it was slightly muffled, so I turned the volume up a bit. That helped, but the range of sound still had that muffled feel to it. I flipped it over to take a look at it and immediately thought that the location has it covered by any surface it's laying on.
Well, that wasn't completely true. It seems they have a VERY slight taper at the lower corners of the phone so that the speaker opening doesn't sit completely flush against the surface it's resting on. That said, it's still very close and it still generally muffles the sound. If they had made that taper just a little more significant, it would have been a lot better. I've done some very extensive testing rolleyes and it seems to me that just putting a few pages of paper under the very bottom edge of the phone improves the sound quality a bit. It takes a little more to be optimal, but not much to have a decent improvement. I think they could have added a slight bit more of a lip without it messing up the overall comfort/sizing of the phone.
One other thing I'm curious about is the size of the speaker cutout on the back cover. There is a ring of padding on the cover so the cover doesn't sit flush against any of the speaker girll, but the opening is smaller so I'm curious how much that affects the sound. I think this is a much less noticeable thing though.
So yeah... anyone else notice this or have any thoughts?
I find that it has a better sound when I set it on the desk using my kick stand from my case it is like it uses the desk to make the sound more rich.

Lol I just lay my phone flat on it's screen, hopefully on something that won't scratch it XD. But I have noticed that it is muffled, but I don't seem to notice that much, I don't set it down not flat on the screen often for this very reason.
And I would go kickstand if you can get a case like that...since I use an extended battery that's my tradeoff...or else I would so get a kickstand for this thing lol.
Verizon sells the case for the extended battery also the car dock/hdmi dock works with the case and an extended battery. There are inserts in all the accessories that pop out to accommodate the extra thickness. They thought out all the accessories for the bionic pretty good

How nice of Verizon to have thought out strategies which would force us to go out and spend even more money on accessories as opposed to designing their phone so that it could play music resting on it's back... I'm sorry but am I the only one dumbfounded by this obvious design flaw?
I think they learned after the Xoom launch... we had minimal accessories and they were not nearly as good as what we get to buy for the bionic.
They didn't learn from the Xoom's speakers, It also was on the back of the unit so when you are holding it, it constantly projects away from you and others hear it better than you do. I am quite impressed with the speakers on the GTab, they are on the sides and you can hear them sooo much better.

You maybe right, but it's worth a try. If anything I can imagine the whole back of the case needing to be cut out to fit this monster.

lol... I might order one just to check it out and run it through the paces on my test gear. I'm not real fond of the TPU type back cover, but it might be alright, and it would have some shock absorption value.
I read the Note 2 won't support NFC. I would be willing to pay extra money to have a case that supports NFC.

Agreed.
I am sending them this little note, in case they are willing to consider adding NFC in their battery as an option:
Greetings,
Xda developer Note II forums have mentioned that you are currently developing a Galaxy Note II super capacity battery.
I understand that due to the extreme size of the lithium ion battery, the NFC contacts are no longer exposed, thus NFC cannot be implemented in the battery back cover, as the Samsung and other third parties are currently doing.
I am currently using the Mugen extended battery, that does use NFC in the back cover, and use NFC for google wallet daily.
Although this is none of my business per se, and your product will be very successful, the lack of NFC will deter some users (including the writer of this brief note) from purchasing.
May I offer the suggestion of implementing the NFC back on the battery itself?
Since your battery will effectively sit on top of the NFC contacts, you could wrap around the battery the NFC contacts and implement the NFC on the battery’s back.
This after all is the way NFC is handled on the Samsung GSIII and Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
I understand that this would increase your production costs, so perhaps you could offer two models of the battery, tacking on the extra cost to the customers that would be willing to pay for this. I for one would be more than happy to, and I am sure that you will see the sentiment reflected in the online communities by others too.
I had one of their batteries for my s3. It was amazing. 3 days easy without charging and 10+ hours screen on. This one not having nfc sucks though.

Theoretically, if they don't do it themselves, we could add the nfc as a DIY.
Ebay sells the nfc adhesive strip, which you could attach to the back of the battery, and use contact copper strips to make the connection with the phone work again. I might actually experiment with that once they ship.

That was my plan also. I just got a cheapo flip cover I'm willing to hack for this mod. But now I just gotta wait 17 days.
5mins later...
The suspense is killing me!
My buddy has the one for the GS3 and while it is bigger the fit and finish can't be beat. It almost looks like they took three batteries and wired them together.
I'm willing to bet that this is going to be a great buy. If i didn't have the Anker and get great battery life already I'd be snapping this up!

It is not as tight or secure on my phone as I thought it would be. Dropped from a couple feet and the phone popped out of it. I have one of the older gray ones. Anyone else have the same or different experience?
The flap would not close all the way because I already had a tempered glass on the screen. It is extremely hard to use with one hand. I tried really hard to like it because I personally think it looks nice, but had to return it for those two reasons.
I just bought mine today. I thought it was broke at first because nothing happened when I put the phone into the case. I turned off my lock, checked to make sure the app was installed. Then I remembered I have a tempered screen protector on. When I took it off, the case works just fine. I think I'm going to take it back because it provides absolutely no protection at all. It only works with HTC apps: no gmail, fb, hangouts, 3rd party sms apps...nothing other than HTC's apps. It looks good and it's a neat trick but for $50 I saw all I needed to see here.
I do really like the principle of the Dot View Case, however its the effort of one handed operation that is hampering the thing... Its not as if i have small hands either - at 6'3" i have absolute shovel hands and still struggle.
Unsure...
Case sucks

I really like the case and the idea of it, but it is slightly off for me. When it is closed, the case is a few mm to the left, so the dots aren't as sharp and more of a blur. If I push the flap to the right a little they line up perfectly. I don't have a screen protector. Does anyone else have this issue? Possibly a defect?
I don't mind holding the flap to use the phone as the phone is big enough that I pretty much need two hands to use it anyways. I will continue to use the case, but I may end up returning it before my 14 days are up if I don't fall in love with it. Right now the only thing really bother me is what I mentioned above with it being slightly off.
I have no interest on Dot case. And also don't have any one.

Given the quality of the doubledip cases for M7, I wasn't expecting much in quality. I hope 3rd parties are allowed to do their own dot view. I've only seen S view type cases for the M8 right now.

Purchased the Dot View case from VZW originally, wasn't very happy with the Warm Gray color. Purchased the Warm Black Dot View case from the Shop Android part of the site and received it today, its the exact same color that VZW is advertising as warm gray, I was expecting a black case as depicted in the photos, the part numbers on the packaging are different, the VZW packaging has an HTC SKU 99H11530-00 and the Shop Android packaging has an HTC SKU 99H11416-00. I will edit this post with a photo in a little while but has anyone else found a similiar situation or has anyone received the shop android Warm Black case that can comment and/or share a photo to compare the Warm Black color? Thanks! VZW Warm Gray on the left and Shop Android Warm Black on the right...
Anyone interested in buying a case? I bought it earlier thinking I'd like it, but it just isn't for me. Instead of returning it to sprint, I'd rather sell it to someone who's had a hard time looking for one. PM me for details.

you guys do realize most of these battery/ battery case come from china right? just like MUGEN battery. For all you know they are probably from the same factory, make the battery and then just slap on the sticker and you're paying extra for it.
I like this case/battery combo. However, from the pictures it looks like the case offers absolutely no protection for the screen. It would be nice if there was at least a raised lip to keep the screen safe.
Seems like it would be extremely inconvenient to have to remove the case and charge the phone and case separately.
I've never had one of these 'charge' cases before.. Is that the normal operation?

When I had my G2 with a Zerolemon battery case it would charge the phone before the case. The only thing I didn't like a out it was a 1 amp into the case and phone, then when you click the button to charge the phone it was a 1 amp output to the phone. So you really can't use the phone and charge at the same time. like you can when you use a wall charger, other than that it was ok and the bulk didn't bother me at all. I have 3 friends that have Mophie cases ( HTC One m7, galaxy s4 and a iPhone 5) they like the cases, I just hope they make one for the M8 I'd love to buy one.

Just got the case today so far it seems really nice. It does add some bulk and to some might seem as a brick. Coming from Nexus 5 zero lemon this is "thin" for me.
The case looks nice and despite it's plastic feels more premium than I expected. Maybe it has more to do with the weight than the material.
Protection wise I am a little nervous. The edges appear to be protected but the edges are exposed leading me to believe that it's more prone to damage such as cracks and dings. I expect the aluminum on the edges to be dinged up using this case.
Charging wise this thing is nice. It came with with 3 charging lights indicating it was roughly .75% charged. It died after 2 hours however left me with an almost completely charged phone. Mind you I was charging with GPS and screen on. On the zerolemon battery would drain(not charge if I were use GPS and screen on even if battery was charged. The insctructions state that you can charge both phone and battery. The phone would charge phone first and then battery. On the zerolemon it charges both at a a god awful snails pace.
One huge benefit of this case is how easy it is to install, just slides right in. So if your like me and clumsy you can put on the case as needed and use you other case as needed.
Packaging was also nice, It looked similar to how the m8 came in a box except instead of cardboard came in plastic. Will upload pictures and give a more detailed review after I had it for a few days.
All in all after owning it for a few hours I can say I recommend this case

Looks identical.
I had ordered one as well and had issues with it not holding a charge and only charging about 20% with what it did have. Contacted seller for a replacement, which they never requested the original back(wierd), and the replacement had the exact same problem. Returning them and waiting for an official case to come out.
So far have had nothing but positive experience. I am wondering if these are the same product I bought from mobile fun. If have issues I will report. So far is my only complaint is lack of protection. It charges surprisingly fast when charging it says it's charging AC in the battery stats. Fits like a glove and easy to take out and put back in
