Me neither. I feel like i've seen it at green once but i can only recall red...
also i tried an led changer app, and it didnt do anything, so.. i think its safe to say that it doesnt and wont work,
its probably just a single color red LED up there anyways

its Amber/green

ah, my bad:
so then we technically should be able to make it any color in between the two?

I agree about the colors, would be nice to add some flavor. It all depends on the chip-set of the led, some have one or more with which it enables a photon beam of light to pass through.True color changing led's have several diodes incorporated into the led.

If we could get them to flash repeatedly for notifications that would be awesome

led notifications
There is is app available on the Droid market called LED me know. It doesn't support multiple colors, but it does let you change how often the LEDs flash. I just got my Aria from using a palm treo pro, I loved that I could set it to make the beacon light up. LED lets you get the LEDs at the bottom of the screen to light up. It does have faults... most task managers kill the app and it stops the home keys from lighting up sometimes. Hope this helps.

There's a hidden feature in CM7 that lets you change LED color and frequency by application. I found it searching for launchable apps in Minimalistic Text Widget. Still just red, green and orange work, however.

[Q] Is it possible to give the trackball on the nexus one a breathing light setting?

I got my N1 third-hand (would you believe it), and am simply blown away by it. I came over from a Nokia 5530, where the touch menu button would light up every few minutes. Is it possible to do this on the N1, at least while the screen is on?
I'm running Cyanogen Mod 6 RC3, and I've ticked the option where the LED works as a breathing light, but it isn't. Please help me, I'm new to all this.
Umm yes go into settings, cyan settings, UI, track ball, and you can set the track ball color for each individual app. So for me texts blink red, missed call blue, Twitter green, etc.
No no I know that and I love it. But is it possible to make the trackball light up every couple of minutes for no reason? It's no biggie, but I think it would make a nice touch.
Send yourself a text message and never clear it. =P

XD. That is one way to go about. I like the humour and friendliness in these forums. It's a great place for beginners like me to get aquainted with our phones.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can have the track ball flash all the time for no reason. Did you check all the settings?
Edit: I thought I saw a setting for this but now I can't find it. Maybe it doesn't exist...?
There is a setting, but it doesn't seem to work. Then KIagain, I am getting poor battery life compared to my Nokia, so no breathing light is both a blessing and a curse

ive got the same problem, there is an option in in the ui settings that says always pulse, but it doesnt seem to work for some reason. does anyone know if there is a fix for this
There is a free app in the market called LED Disco that will flash your trackball any color you want(as long as the screen is timed out)
You pick the colors via settings. You can have it cycle thru all the colors as well.
It even kills itself when a notification comes in so the notification can take over the trackball color, and then turns itself back on when you clear the notification.

I just downloaded led disco, I am running it to see what happens to my battery life if it doesn't drain it horribly it'll be pretty cool to use on a regular basis
FWIW, whenever I forget to read emails and leave the LEF blinking, when I come back, the battery usage is much higher than the 0.5% I normally get and the battery usage screen claims the "display" has been hogging the power.

[Q] Notification lights

just curious if theres a way to make the 4 lights at bottom flash when you have a missed call our message
yep. its called BLN Control. you can get it from the market. but you also have to have a kernel that supports it.
Bln won't make them blink will it? Get bln then blinky
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
BLN Control worked, thanks guys. I paid the 2 bucks for upgraded version, it does blink. I already had the kernal, as Im using Continuum rom by Cezar. Great rom btw.
Now I have to see if it runs down the battery
You can also try a free app called NoLED which flashes icons on the amoled screen instead of the buttons. More informative since you can tell what kind is missed event it was!

[Feature Request] LED Customization

I have a request for any and all devs. I would like to see a feature (in either a rom, theme, or just an app) where you can change how the one LED works.
More specifically, when it's charging it has the amber color lit up... but when you get a message, nothing changes. So I think it would be nice that when charging and you get a message or whatever, it starts blinking green... instead of just a solid amber color.
Think it can be done?

It definitely can be. I remember a mod like that for the HTC hero... only thing you can't do is change the color cause of the type of led it is (not an RGB led)

Btw, cm7 has that adj built in.

question is if your rooted or not?
If you are
then visit here:

If not...
Then Go root it.
Thanks for the reply. I'd rather not switch to CM7, I don't really care for their roms.
Anyone want to make a good dependable app for this? Haha

I'm rooted. And that app isn't on the market anymore, and I can't download it from that site. :/
Try light flow in the market. You can shut off the led while charging but still get led notifications.

LED for notification

My wife just got a Droid 4 yesterday (5 Android device family!) and she is saying that the LED is not lighting when I text her. I am not familiar with Motorola phones. Does it have an LED, and does it need to be turned on in settings for notifications?

Of course it`s have LED - left upper corner, it`s not so big, but working just fine for me (SMS messages, e-mail, calendar notifications, etc...)
I never saw any special settings for notifications in general in the system, but you can go to the stock messaging application and see how you can change the style of notification.
Plus you can try Handcent SMS application from Google Play and see how it goes.

Is her screen usually on or off? The LED only lights when the screen is off.
