LG Optimus Black - LG Optimus 2x

Where is it? I haven't heard much about it since CES.

No new information on it as of yet

Coming to T-Mobile UK this month for £25 a month!

It's also coming to Germany within a week or two. I don't think it's ever coming to the United States, the only way I would buy this is if it supports UMTS 1700mhz, and 2100mhz (T-Mobile's 3G bands in the US). It was adverstised to support these bands, but I don't know how true that is.

If that picture is true, so will it work on T-Mobile USA (3g) and AT&T (3g) because i see both 3g frequency for both carriers on that image?

GSM is not 3G...only UMTS is.

It's for sale in Belgium for 409 euro off contract. Pretty good value. Any news about rootability?

I'm interested in that this means:
"- Optimus UI 2.0, Gesture UI 2.0"
And whether we already have version 2.0 in the 2x? What is version 1.0?

Is this phone the same as the 2x? If not, why is it posted here & not in its own dedicated section (or ask an Admin to create one)? I know that phones will change names & that's partly why I'm asking.

Why is there no dedicated optimus black
forum? I believe it is a great device which
deserves much more attention. Even though it
doesn't carry along the same power than the
2x, it has probably what could be the best
screen on market with respect to luminosity
and power drain. For the rest, the device has
pretty much the same hardware configuration
as the nexus s, fitted in a slimmer body and
adding fm radio support. If it can be rooted
easily, that will be my device of choice. Nexus
s is great, but feels a bit plastic and is a bit
thick in my opinion.

Cause not much has been said about optimus black. It is still under development. I actually want one myself cause it looks sexy though it only has a single core. Wish lg would make a same device as sexy as optimus black but with tegra 2 like optimus2x. The problem w/ LG is that all their goodstuffs are scattered on different models. nova display sounds cool.

Actually it is not in development anymore. The product is already being sold in Germany and arriving in Switzerland in about 10 days.

Bought mine in Zürich 2 days ago, rooted it yesterday, but there's still no forum

I get one from Orange Spain for next 25/5.....

And does the battery last for a day with 3G on, WiFi on, Data Sync on?
The LG Optimus 2x can't even go beyound 9 hours with these settings turned on.
And turning them off is a no go, because a smartphone is no kiddy toy. It has all these features to use them not to turn them off to save battery life.

The battery lasts for 16 to 18 hours of usage with 3g connection, data sync, wi-fi (when available), about 30 min talking or maybe more and automatic brightness (set to "power saving" mode - makes the screen a little dimmer but still able to follow it on bright light).

Yes, taking complete control of an open source operating system with a free software development kit. JUST like Apple, in fact, it's practically the same.

If my AT&T contract didn't go on for another 18 months, I'd so buy it. Instead I might wait around on the Android phone for AT&T, if there ever is one.

HAHA i was just about to post the same thing
The potential for the software that will work with the phone is endless. i can't wait to see what programs people come up with once its out
I think ill give it a try, as soon as GooglePhone will arrive here in Italy
For Those Wanting to Take the G1 to at&t...
The phone will not work on at&t 3G.
According to the specs listed on HTC's web site (http://www.htc.com/us/product/g1/specification.html), HS/WCDMA is available on 2100 MHz in Europe and 1700 / 2100 MHz in the US. T-Mobile uses 1700 / 2100 MHz while at&t uses 850 and 1900 MHz.
If you try to take this phone over to at&t (apart from the hassle of trying to get it unlocked), the best that it will operate at is GSM/EDGE, i.e. 2G.
Is it true there is a 1gb cap limit? If it is, it's freaking ridiculous for a phone they are trying to push as a secondary computer. Some awesome features, but hopefully they will increase the cap on it.
If I look at the pictures it looks like a piece of plastic crap ....sorry to say but expected much more out of it...They should have done a stunning phone design with there android os....Hope android itself is preforming...the phone can be replaced

After 1GB in a month they limit your speeds "to 50kb/s or less". Like how AT&T's "unlimited" data is really only 5GB, and they start charging after that? T-Mobile decided to just cut the data transfer speed after 1GB. Technically, it's not a cap, your phone can still use data for things you NEED to get done... but at 50 kb/s, forget about downloading files.

3g right?
My wife wants an android so bad, but she is limited to the TP2 on her SERO plan.
Not worth $10 more a month for LG Optimus S nor Samsung Moment.....
Not worth $20 more a month for a 4G phone.....

http://www.unwiredview.com/2011/09/13/lg-marquee-is-sprints-optimus-black-press-shots-leaked/
LG Marquee !
The LG Marquee will therefore have a 1 GHz single-core processor, 800×480 resolution, 512 MB of RAM, and a 5 MP camera. So nothing groundbreaking here. In fact in this day and age this is a midrange device and nothing more. It will, however, feature a very bright screen, so perhaps that will help it sell well.
The LG Marquee is rumored to ship on October 2, and at some point in the future it’s also going to be launched by Alltel, US Cellular, and Virgin Mobile.

Presale orders of the LG Marquee start September 20 and run for one full week. Buyers who take advantage of the early offer will begin receiving their devices on September 29, three days before its debut in stores. The price is $99 with qualified two-year service agreements and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

There must be a firmware out there. When you change the Country & Languange in LGMobile Support to US, and click Supporting Model, you could see the Marquee as LGLS855 with a S/W update LS855ZV9.

Finally-- The tablet that I wanted!

I loved my SM-T800, but the kind of love where you're willing to overlook little faults here and there (the small amounts of lag that people notice while others don't).
I switched over to the LTE version from Verizon a few days ago-- with the Snapdragon 800 SOC.
Lag is completely gone-- even in touchwiz (no I didn't sick with touchwiz, just wanted to confirm). Tapped Out plays perfectly. LTE reception is great. Scrolling through everything is so smooth!
$600 is expensive for any tablet; but through some lucky breaks, I paid around $350 for my non-LTE version, not including a free book cover that Best Buy threw in. I ended up selling the tablet for about $430, and I kept the cover! So net $530 for the LTE tab and cover.
If you're on the fence about this device because of some of the comments on here, I can tell you most of the complaints are rectified in the Sprint/ Verizon version.
My experience exactly. Had the Wifi 10.5, and it sucked, frankly. The Verizon LTE version is awesome.
Yeah that's what I was afraid of. They really gave the wifi version the shaft with their horrible exynos experiment.
I have a Galaxy S5 with the snapdragon and it's blazing fast, while my wifi Tab S is laggy and slow as hell.
No surprise there, Exynos lags behind the Snapdragon variant as usual. No pun intended.
Sure it has snapdragon?
Most likely improvements are just because of some software update.
i have been waiting for the Verizon version for some time and got excited when i saw it available BUT then sad when i saw it was only the 16GB version which doesnt work for me. also didnt want white but could deal with that. hoping maybe a 32GB version at some point but doubtful

I purchased the wifi 16. Returned it for the 32. Got refunded for that one and purchased the Sprint version with snapdragon. It just seems to be smoother and faster than the previous wifi only tabs. Both of my wifi units just did weird things. Ex., I would press the home key and it would send me off to google or some place unknown to my home screen. If I kept pressing the home button I would eventually get there, never did figure that one out. My other ones lagged every now and then but this didn't really bother me, I'm a patient man. I just wanted mobile data, however infrequently I will use it, but I'm glad it is there.
As stated many times, the Exynos SOC is really really bad.
long story short, who ever has the opportunitiy of buying Verizon Tab S Snapdragon 800 should go towards that direction and not the Exynos one...thanks guys i was thinking of buying with Exynos in Europe but i see that it has problems, weird is that sites seem to bypass those problems rather easily

Any evidence?
Most likely it is just software issue.
Anyway, I don't see any lag on my T705 Exynos tab.
Any development for the snapdragon version?

OxygenOS 9.5.7 update available for 5G model

There's a new update our for the 5G variant, 9.5.7
It adds very little and quite frankly is a bit of a disgrace - this "update" is still the June path level and to make matters worse the feature disparity between the 4G & 5G is widening!

Which do you think is the majority device? Yeah so that's the one they'll dev for first. That's the risk of getting into technology at launch, exactly why I didn't bother with the 5g version, wait until it's properly bedded in and the norm.

Apparently there's an ongoing issue with the patch they were going to release, hence the delay. If it was me, I'd be happier with a working phone than an updated, mebbe insecure, mebbe glitchy phone. They have said the patch will be coming soon, presumably to bring it to parity with the 4G models.

I told them the phone wasn't fit for purpose as advertised features still didn't work properly, and the continued lack of updates made me question whether they ever would.
OnePlus' silence when it comes to answering queries or support tickets about the 5G is inexcusable - they clearly aren't interested in this phone variant, and I doubt it will ever gain parity with the (lesser) 4G variant.
I'm either going to get a Note 10 or Mate 30 when they're available - I know the Note 10 can do 5G and I almost guarantee that the Mate 30 will too!
How can you go to 60Hz after using 90Hz? I went to a local phone shop to see the Note 10(+), but just because of its 60Hz screen I wouldn't buy it. Period. It just feels sluggish and laggy. All the animations feel as if they are capped because of the 60Hz display.

Using mine in Switzerland, works just fine, haven't tested 5g yet, there isn't where I live
my experience with night photo - very noisy, iphone 11 pro max beaten it in every aspect,
auto switching between cameras is funny - You increase zoom, as soon as it gets to the next lens the quality degrades then as You cross "logical border" the quality returns back to normal (or expected one), so the steps are very discrete comparing to smooth switch on iOS

I have this device running WIFI calling on a Tracfone MVNO over T-mobile's network in Sim2 - I've not been able to get wifi calling to work with Xfinity Wireless in sim1 but that's because they know my phone isn't the device that I'm supposed to have on my account and they can't (or won't) update because they think it's not supported on their network... Have you reset the network settings recently? Entered the band selector and made sure you've got the proper situation going for your scenario? *#*#4636#*#* I'm working in the NV memory fixing the config files to enable the US 5g bands at the moment. Haven't notice any issues with the latest update.
Without ignoring the top line specs this device is not much of a value. It's selling well mainly due to Samsung's huge trade-in offers but for half It's price one can aquire Samsung's A72 with a Snapdragon SoC, Dual SIM's, 8GB RAM, 256GB Internal and up to 1TB External Memory, 6.7 Inch Display, 3.5 mm Jack, 5000 mAh Battery and 120Hz Refresh Rate for under $470 USD.
