Hi to all i got a Samsung Captivate in Download Mode and I cannot do anything because my pc recognize it as unknown device. I installed and uninstalled drivers from forum and from samsung url but still the same problem. I downloaded AIO pack and installed the drivers but still no luck! I installed KIES but still nothing.... any ideas how to fix and flash my phone again to stock fw????
Thank You in advance
Have you tried multiple ports?
Delete drivers, dl again but don't install. When plug in message for unknown device pops up click it and select option to find drivers. Navigate to the file where dl is
May work

I have android sdk if is the same i dont know!
Sorry typo. Once again long shot but plug phone in click on the unkown device. Navigate to android sdk I think under extras then Google add one there is USB. Click on it then ok. See if it can find drivers that works
Sent from my Captivate using XDA Premium App
not compatible with x64 windows
Make sure you have the most recent USB drivers installed in your sdk. You may need.to enter sdk manager first. I may be wasting your time.

I am sorry to jump in but I am currently running the latest nightly and Ineed to flash bootloaders and start with Froyo again. But my computer is not detecting my phone. I have installed the Android SDK and installed the drivers for Nexus S but of no avail. i am stuck and would appreciate your help.
The funny thing is that I can use the phone as USB device but freaking ODIN is not detecting it. My windows does not has any unrecognised device. I have installed the Nexus S drivers as well. Is it a problem with ODIN or my phone or windows itself? I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit edition.
I have tried;
Uninstalled Samsung Drivers / Restarted / Reinstalled
Swapped 2 different cords
Tried every available port on my PC
Restarted, pulled PC power cable, let it rest for a few seconds and plugged it back in
Uninstalled every USB Root Hub device and restarted so Windows could reinstall all of it
Tried Heimdall as well
I need my ODIN flashing back
Thanks in advance!
Look that Kies isnĀ“t running in the Background.
It is not - I can confirm.

Loosing hope on this -Am I going to be stuck with corrupt bootloaders and other issues?
Someone ... anyone?

But Kies does not recognize the phone So it does not even try to install the drivers.
I am stuck. Without ODIN recognizing my phone, i can not flash anything on it or revert to stock. Would be great to know if there is anything I can do from Recovery Mode. The phone goes to Download mode as well but what's the use.
well this is a long shot but you could try and manually install it by going into where you installed kies in my case its C:\Program Files\Samsung\USB Drivers\24_flashusbdriver choose the X64 folder seeing as you are on a 64bit system and right click FlashUSB_x64.inf and install

Nope. It didnt help either.
F***! This is frustrating.
well you could always try it on a windows xp machine maybe try another usb cable you never know
i was having this problem too till i sent it back to samsung service centre where they changed the whole board.
my computer totally couldn't recognize my sms on either odin or usb. it won't restart when not connected to charging/power.
i've got a warranty claim and now it back and rooted with gingerbread 2.3.3 jvb install.
samsung service centre is the best. with service like that i'll stay with samsung all the way.
hope my experience help.

an obvious question, but since no one has asked it yet, are you in the download mode ? You have to be in download mode for Odin to detect.

That is not true. My Samsung Galaxy S is recognised by Odin even when on in normal mode.

Yeah, I ended up doing the exact same thing. Something must have gone weird, because the phone would still charge, but wouldn't be recognized by anything.
It may well be damage to usb on phone, remove the inner cover check for cracks in soldering, and check pounds aren't out of shape
If they are gently straighten with pin

Just Remove the battery and wait for 10 seconds......
insert battery and start in download mode...
tadaaaa.....it's done....
Did you install the drivers for Hemidall? After I did this my phone was not recognize by Odin... but I'm guessing If I roll back or update the drivers some how in Device Manager then Odin would be happy again.
Just got a replacement for my VZW GT tried to root via Z4 but it won't apply root. Then I tried to do it through the comp via super one click but I'm home for the week at my parents house and their PC won't find the drivers to mount the GT... Has anyone elsr had this issue?? Also, if I go straight to download mode can I flash a rooted rom and get root that way??
TIA

For the drivers, did you install kies ?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I tried to but I couldn't find the download link so I used the driver package that comes with super one click... if someone could point me kies that'd be great!! I looked on samsungs site but now all I could find was the manual for the GT. The live chat guy told me I couldnt download kies soooooo I moved on...

Go to galaxy tab android development (here on xda of course) and download, from Overcome thread, the manual, read it and you will find a link inside for jmk stock safe, download it and you will find the drivers, odin and also the stock rom.

Thanks found it and downloaded. Now its telling me to put my tab into kies pc mode? I've tried download mode, normal boot mode both with the sdcard mounted and not mounted, and finally the manual mode, what would be recovery mode if I were rooted. Its never been this difficult?? This is my third GT and I've never had to go through all of this to root and flash... what's changed in 3 months!?
Thanks again for everyone's help!!

goto: settings>applications>development>usb debug mode
first, set to usb debug mode on your tab, and connect to pc while kies is open.
Let windows install drivers.
Once installation is over, safely remove your phone from pc and unplug usb cable.
Then, switch off debug mode from the same options above. After that,
go to settings>wireless and network>usb settings
tick either samsung kies OR ask on connection.
connect to kies again.
This will ensure that all drivers are installed.
Pls hit tnx if I helped.
Put your tab in debug mode an connect it to the pc and lauch superoneclick to root.

aibo, first thing i tried was debug mode and plug it in...
as for Sef_P1000's directions... i tried that and it definitely installed the drivers, however i dont have a pc mode/kies mode only have mass storage and media player, but neither work for anything in kies...
I've tried to uninstall the drivers and reinstall the but that doesn't work I've tried download mode with a jig and without a jig how do I fix this issue or if it can even be fixed.

Reboot computer. Reboot phone. Use usb port in back of computer. Try different usb cable. If u r using Odin right click and run as administrator first and then connect phone to computer. Use correct drivers for Odin. U may have to uninstall heimdall drivers.

Nexus S drivers!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using xda premium
^That. I believe Biffmod is based off CM7 so Galaxy S drivers.
The only reason for nexus s drivers is for ADB to work. Odin is a Samsung made program so it needs the Samsung download mode driver not the vanilla google driver...
Im trying to get odin to update my phone but it cant find my phone. My guide says to put phone in download mode and connect to pc but odin cant find it. Any help?

How long does it usually take to install them because i have been installing for the past 15 mins and its only just getting to half way
Thanks
Right Click Odin (executable file), then run as an administrator. Make sure all files needed for updates are stored in the hard drive of your machine (desktop/laptop). Otherwise update won't be successful. Usually it takes +/-5 minutes.
It keeps coming up with this message about 10 seconds in <1> --- cannot open the usb serial port. code: 32
Finnaly managed t do it! Now i have 2.3.6! Thanks for the help

Hey, been using this site for couple weeks now and loving all the roms you guys make but i'm having trouble getting my s5830 to connect through usb mode.
I'm running slimrom V3 and windows xp home edition, i've installed kies and all the drivers but when i open kies it just says connecting then gives an i/o error when i click on the new drive in my computer. Any ideas how i can get it working?
Kies won't detect your phone after root and after installing a custom rom. What happens when you plug you phone into the computer? Does your phone say in the notification bar USB connected

Oh ok thanks, didn't know that about kies.
Yea it shows in the notification bar, i can turn usb mode on an off but when i click the new drive in my computer it either crashes or gives an i/o error.
The drivers should be set up already if not try and reinstall them again you might aswel delete Kies unless you have a stock phone, what are you trying to do?
