[Q] Root + Rom manager ? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello !
I root my tab using z4root. I want to install a recovery, if possible using Rom Manager. I have no windows computer, so no knies or odin possible.
I have to choose between a US Provider (T-mo, At&t, etc). My tab is unbranded and there is no sim lock. Is it safe to use "T-mo" or another one to install a recovery?

From the market? That recovery isn't a complete version. There's no way you can download a kernal that will flash the recovery? Like overcome or mocado?

[Q] [Help] On a ROM that won't allow me to flash a new one

Hi,
I'm on t mobile with a samsung galaxy s and tired of waiting for froyo tried a kies hack from this forum to download a froyo rom via kies...
Anyway, i now know i downloaded the wrong rom, a 3 UK rom which doesn't allow me into recovery mode. i can get into recovery mode via adb, and i can then attempt to flash a root rom, and it says it installs however it then boots to the same 3 rom...
is there any way i can root my phone or get back to another rom?
thanks very much in advance,

Click to collapse
Use the z4root app in the Market to root your phone and then install Rom Manager from the Market which will give you Clockwork Recovery. From there you can flash new roms...
Hope that helps...
I just noticed an app called superuser permissions...does this mean i have rooted my phone?
EDIT: More to the point does this mean i can now download another rom from kies via the kies hack?

[Q] ROM Manager: Install CWM on i9001

Hello.
I rooted my SGS+ GT-I9001 and installed ROM Manager. Now I would like to flash CWM Recovery, but if I try to install it via ROM Manager the app asks me to confirm my device. But in my list no I9001 is listed, only Samsung Galaxy S I9000. Should I choose this or take another way to get CWM on my phone?
Thanks,
wormix
no DON'T select i9000
nd btw after 2.3 update of i9000 rom manager does not install cwm on it...
So even if u select i9000 it wont be able to install cwm...
btw search xda and flash a custom kernel wid cwm (using odin)

[Q] How to install CWM on stock 2.3.3 (not rooted) ?

Hi All,
I got a SGS for my wife and it has stock provider's 2.3.3 ROM.
I want to preserve it, so I need to install CWM somehow (without root), do a clean NANDROID backup, then flash in CWM the "GamerzROM Legend Edition v2.0" without rooting the phone first.
I'm guessing this new rom comes with ROOT so no need for flash rooted kernels via ODIN ...
How can this be achieved ?
You must root first
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
in order to root i need to upgrade to 2.3.6 first, right ?
No
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
Hi,
I don't know how to instal CWM without root! but you can flash semaphore kernel with Odin and you have root and CWM.
Download the tar file containing the kernel from here
Start Odin application
Select the tar file as PDA (do NOT select Re-Partition)
Put the phone in download mode
Connect your phone through USB to your PC and wait for the ID:COM to become yellow
Press start button
I hope it helps!:good:

download your oem rom here www . updato . com
if you already have twrp installed, wipe and instlall
Easiest way... Smart Switch on your PC. Install it... 20 minutes and you'll be setting up your S2.
Use the device initialization tab in Smart switch. It will wipe all the data.
