Hello all,
I just wanted to share my experience with my Nexus Battery drain and Google Maps.
I was always complaining about the horrible battery life of Nexus S compared to my previous devices (Xperia X10, Galaxy S, Desire, Hero, etc... some that I bought, loans, tests, etc..)
IMPORTANT: Since the beginning, my phone had a strict sleep policy (on screen off) and the phone was always awake.
I first remarked the battery drain with my battery status was spotting GMaps and I was right.
Just before going to sleep, I uninstalled it and just get a wonderful battery help:

Any explanations?
Any similar experience?
I never had this problem with my Nexus, I just drained the battery a few times when I first got it so it can calibrate properly, I don't know if you have done this yet.
I don't think a battery calibration would explain a Google Maps battery drain, but yes I did it.
I even wipe battery stats 2 weeks ago at 100% power.
Same behaviour here with Google Maps. I am 99% sure that it's the Latitude that keeps updating my position all the time - although I haven't tested it, yet. Latitude should have had a setting for the position update interval.

I had 95% battery at 23:00. I next went to use my nexus at 19:00 the next day and it was completely out of charge.
I charged it a bit until I could actually power it on and see the battery stats.
The battery dropped normally for a few hours after i stopped using the nexus, eg maybe 1% drop to 94%, then suddenly dropped to 0% in just a few more hours.
The battery was used by 'google services' which reported 5hrs33mins of CPU time. It looks like Goole services suddenly just started eating the battery. Android OS shows as using 6hrs of CPU time.
I will see how it goes and if it occurs again then I will revert to 4.1.2.
Found this - may be related to my problem as I can see that at the same time as the battery drain started my WiFi connection had gone.

Anyone else noticed this, you'd need to switch off WiFi I guess to see the issue if it is related to the link above.
Me too, Google services and Android OS are using way more battery than they should ever since I installed 4.2 (clean install, flashed the factory image).

I upgraded to sense 6.0 yesterday and now my phone is pretty much always awake, causing massive battery drains. Not sure what the update did to cause this. My phone isnt rooted, so any suggestions on how I can solve this?
Please post some screens from battery monitoring apps (GSAM, BBS) which apps are causing drain and what is causing the wakelocks.

I have had the same problem. I have down loaded screen off wifi off to help with the wifi staying in, but staying awake I have found I have to reboot after pulling it off the charger for my phone to actually go into sleep mode when the screen is off. We shouldn't have to but until it's fixed try that.

I have used ViperOne for my HTC One, With greenify app, I have no wakelocks when my device go into sleep
Same issue for me. Early morning after pulling of the charger, I have to reboot my HTC one m7, else the phone stays in awake mode and drain is higher. With a reboot I get fantastic battery performance.
I've had this phone for about a week and this is the first instance where my phone has gone down to 10% battery in the matter in 8 hours with what I can only describe is light use. I get a few emails, most of the time it sits with the screen off. I checked the battery stats and saw Android OS at 21% usage followed by Cell Standby and Screen.
I am rooted at 5.0.1 but stock and encrypted. Only mods I have done is DPI at 493 and double tap to wake.
Anyone else experienced this before?
So I've been having that issue the past couple days too. I installed a program called BetterBatteryStats.
Yesterday I fired it up after having about half my battery drain in a matter of a few hours.
I saw that my deep sleep was about 3 hours, my awake was 8 or so hours but my screen on was only about 1 hour. Something was keeping my phone from sleeping.
I went threw and uninstalled everything I could think of that had either updated or been added since it started and now it seems to be sleeping again so I'd look at installed apps and updates.

I get terrible battery life on my new huawei p10. Im very disappointed, because the reviews mostly said it got around 5 hrs of SoT, I get around 3 hrs with 19% left. I already tried factory reset, it didnt help.

What should I do?
If you have facebook or facebook messenger, uninstall them and retest your battery endurance.
Run Phone Manager.. or else if that dont work. complaint to Huawei and your distributor.
My batterylife varies because I dont have fixed sleeping rythm, sometimes I check out 22-00 and then its about 50% mostly I use the phones for web, browsing, alot of music, and some gaming..
In the other hand finstance in weekends, where I maybe sit up to 02.00 am and sips whisky and listen to music, its about 23%...
It may be that your battery is defect, but I dont know how much you use your phone.
Give it a few days for the power manager to get used to how you use the phone. Any new phone takes a few days to settle on power usage, but more so with Huawei phpones as they have an active power manager that tracks how you use the phone and will adjust power usage appropriately. People always complain about power usage in the first day or so of a new phone.
Ok, this may sund stupid, but i wonder, how bad is the battery drain in lollipop?
Some weeks ago my phone started to shut down at 60% or 40%, dropping down to zero in no time, but if i charge it for 15-20 seconds being turned off, the battery restores to normal, so, its a bug as I think
My phone works perfectly, no over heating, no lag, but the battery is getting quite annoying
Ive read the lollipop was bad due the battery drain, but i still have Kitkat, compilation number 14.4.A.0.108
My battery dies this way:

So i wonder, does the battery gets even worse than this on lillipop?
Should I keep on KitKat or should I try lollipop ?(Via Sony Companion)
Or should I use the repair?
Im unsure to try to install a rom, since , is like partly rooted, says im rooted, but some root functions are disabled (Like writing on system) , besides, my phone is unlocked by carrier, and the last time i installed a rom on a phone like that, i lost the signal (After trying recovering, my Xperia T died forever)
