[Q] Can't do a clockwork backup - Nook Color General

I had to reflash stock 1.1 using the recovery image found in the forum, then rooted using autonooter 3.0, both of which seem to have worked fine. I have installed apps one of which was rom manager. I flashed the clockwork mod 3.0.1.0. I then went and flashed the overclock kernel for eclair. All seemed fine and everything seems to be working, however, when I tried to do a backup using the clockwork version above I get an error about "Can't mount system". Has anyone else run into this and found a solution?

"Install Failed" when booting into CWM?

So I had alot of issues rooting but im finally in, all rooted. Downloaded ROM Manager from the market and installed CWM. Says its successful, but when I manually reboot into CWM i get a error, so I cant install the 1.1 fix
Any ideas?
Really no one knows? This sucks!
This normally happens when recovery is not flashed properly. Did you try flashing again via Rom Manager? Also when you flash, does the screen show something like "Rom Manager has been granted super user permissions"?
ya, it flashes successfully through rom manager....
I think the problem is when I was trying to go back to 1.0.1 I flashed a restore through CWM. Then I whiped the /system and /data folders. The directions said to do this but I didnt realize I was supposed to do this BEFORE flashing not after. Basically I had no restore partition left so when I went and let it fail to boot 8x i got a error, and i had no OS. I ended up doing the N/Pwr, it restored, then i got a bootable CWM, booted into it and flashed the 1.0.1. But not everything seems, odd.
I can go into Rom Manager and install CWM fine, it says installation successful. But if I reboot into recovery, I get the error. I really need this fixed but im thinking it may be easier to just use a bootable CWM. Any ideas? I need to get 1.1 on here before I lose root

I fixed this by downloading the latest busybox from the market, installed it, then ran the "fix permissions" from Rom Manager. I then reinstalled the latest CWM, and it would allow me to reboot into recovery.

Can't boot from emmc

I rooted my 1.0.0 NC, worked great. Overclocked it using the 1000mhz kernel, worked great. Installed Rom Manager using adb, clockwork recovery, and sideloaded 1.1 update, still worked great. Decided to try out Froyo...I was a big dummy and didn't create a backup...it installed, then I felt it was slow so decided to try an updated froyo (nookie-froyo 5) works great. But now I'm having a problem where it is only booting from the SD card. I tried everything but nothing is working. I tried doing the copy2emmc.sh, didn't work. Tried running CWR and flashing the stock 1.0.0, doesn't boot up when I remove the SD card and click reboot now. Any ideas? Please help. I would like to boot from the emmc so if I can either get froyo installed on it or go back to stock and just stick with the 1.1 I'll be happy either way.
have you tried these methods?:
hxxp://nookdevs.com/Flash_back_to_clean_stock_ROM
Sorry for the hxxp, don't have enough posts to link yet.
Good news, I flashed it with the repartition-boot-with-stock.zip and now it boots up but just stuck in a loop. I tried doing the 8 boot step but can't get the timing down...
Finally restored!
So I tried to do the restore again but this time I tried the 1.0.1 instead of the 1.0.0 and it worked!! Thanks everyone!

[Q] crazy rebooting issues with custom roms

hopefully this is where this goes. >_> if not, please guide me to where i need to be.
OK. so what is going on:
-right now i am using a STOCK version of 2.2.1 FRG83D, that i rooted with superoneclick.
-i used rom manager to flash RA recovery, because somehow i can't flash roms with clockwork anymore. errors out every time, regardless of version
-i can flash new custom roms using RA, etc etc, but cannot flash roms and restore to old backups
-if i try to USE a custom installed rom, no matter which it is (i have tried a few gingerbread, nxsense, and some 2.2.1 roms), they will ALWAYS reboot after using them for a few seconds, regardless of what i am doing (setting up, using market, or just letting it sit and do nothing)
what i have done before this happened:
-i was using nxsense perfectly fine. great rom, ran great.
-updated rom manager, and clockwork recovery
-tried to flash a new boot animation, but noticed that the new clockwork won't install older .zips that use assert-scripts(?)
-tried to downgrade clockwork, and it randomly restarted the phone during the downgrade
-wanted to try gingerbread, so i flashed the new(er) hboot 0.35.0017 even though i think i had it already, and installed the rom succesfully.
-the rom wouldn't let me download from the market, as it restarted when i tried to download anything.
-i thought the problem was with the new hboot, so i went through a tutorial to revert it back to 0.33.0012 and went back to eclair, so i updated up to frg83d (and obviously got the 0.35.0017 hboot back through updating) and rooted.
the rom i am using now (stock with root) runs fine. haven't really found any real problems.
i just have NO clue why i can't use custom roms. i would absolutely LOVE if someone could help me on this.
I also had similar problem two days ago. I upgraded my clockworkmod recovery to 3.0.0.5 and tried to flash MM CM7 v14. All the problem began. I cannot restore any custom roms except the stock froyo and MM CM7 restarts like crazy whenever I try to install any apps from the market. After that, I also tried RA recovery. No luck. Luckily, I finally find out that the latest recovery messes up my ext3 partition. So, I backup and format my SD card, recreate ext3 partition, restore the SD card, downgrade clockworkmod to 2.5.1.4, wipe everything, fix permission and install MM CM7. It finally works. Hope this help.
PS: as long as I downgrade the clockworkmod, I can restore any custom roms.
Never flash now you will brick it soon

Latest ClockworkMod was known to have some problem, perhaps.
Use Amon_Ra's, if you want to be sure, and wipe everything (data & dalvik-cache) when going from ROM to ROM. Use Titanium Backup for restoring the apps.

You're welcome. Glad to know my experience can help solving yours too.
Definitely a problem with Clockwork 3.0.0.5! I just went through madness trying to figure out WTF was up as well. The only fix was to completely format and re-partition my card then use RA instead of CW, works great now and I don't know if I will use CW again! What a pain...kinda regret having paid for ROM Manager now after this latest fiasco.

[Q] Recovery Issue, tried everything

I was trying to flash gingerbread on my phone, but it wasn't working with clockwork recovery so i flashed amon ra through rom manager then tried to flash gingerbread after clearing all data.
However this didn't work, and turns out the backups i created with clockwork can only be restored with clockwork recovery, i believe, because they are located in the clockwork folder. I had deleted my other nandroid backups because i was trying to clear space and i thought the backups i created in rom manager were the same.
So i flashed to the only working rom on my phone, cm6.1.1 without google apps. Amon ra also wont flash a variety of google apps ive put on my phone because of a signature error. This signature error seems to come up when i try to flash anything that might help fix this. I have tried many methods from this site to flash back to clockwork recovery, but it does not seem to be working.
what do i do?
thanks
Turn signature verification of in Amon Ra...

Like danger rat said. Turn off signature verification in amon RA.

You prolly fixed this already but in case someone else has this issue. Try installing Busybox from the market.
Same issue and won't boot into clockworkmod recovery

I rooted my phone with eclair installed and used clockworkmod recovery with no issues until I one day wanted to go back to stock and attempted a restore of the backup I made right before flashing the OverStock ROM. The phone wouldn't boot, so finally got the Overstock to go back. Phone worked fine for the most part, but from then on to get into recovery mode, required shutting down and using button presses (Up/down vol/PWR button) and it would go in fine. Could never get Clockworkmod to go into recovery mode with a click. Saw that (finally) Samsung has published a Froyo update, so took back to stock eclair using ODIN3 so I could use Kies mini to update. Did a factory reset to remove all old info directories and data. Update went perfect, but want the option to use the rooted apps (Titanium backup and ClockworkMod--purchased apps) to play with my phone as I see fit. Used SuperOneClick to root phone and verified I can get superuser with using terminal emulator, successfully executing "su" command. Problem is I can't get into CWM recovery. Only get "Android system recovery <3e>". Tried uninstalling CWM and reinstalling. Re-Flashed CWM recovery and it lists version 2.5.1.2 as current and latest.
I obviously need CWM recovery to flash different ROMS, but wanted a current backup before starting. Can't get any further until I figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. I was a noob, just a month ago, but was feeling pretty confident until this happened. Guess I'm still a noob, but just a little more dangerous now. Thanks in advance.
Just noticed that I wasn't in a phone specific thread, so here's my phone details... Samsung Vibrant (T-Mobile).
CWM issues with Milestone
In the last update of the RomManager was added support for version ClockWorkMod 3.x for Milestone - but still unable to use the CWM as standard recovery.
Using another recovery as OR1.4 you can start CMW from the SD card - but that does not solve the problem of RomManager stay with completely limited functions.
The Rom Manager is having updates constantly and I think we have a working version for Milestone soon - but in part I'm upset to see that the Milestone is listed as a supported device - when in fact it is not.
I bought the full version of Rom Manager because I believe it is a great tool and I hope someday I can use all its functions.
I have the same problem. I use OpenRecovery for Sholes to do those things. I hope we can use those tools like a normal user even a day.
