I'm trying out Nookie Froyo now. A lot of apps seem to run very well, but Tapatalk apps such as XDA and Howard Forums are very crashy. On stock rooted, both apps forget my password but are otherwise functional. On Nookie Froyo, I can get as far as viewing my list of threads, but it force closes every time I try to open one of those threads. Any thoughts?
That is strange. I also had the issue with the Stock Root being unable to save the password for tapatalk, but since I've gone to the HC and the Froyo builds, I have not had that issue.
Nor have I had the issue of crashing on opening of threads.
I have had a couple of randamn crashes while using the program, that has been less than 1% of my interactions with the program and I have joined over a dozen forums that support the program.
Have you tried a fresh install?

I have same problem with the XDA app on froyo- it will not crash as long as you do not log in but as soon as you log in it will crash upon trying to open up a thread
Same issue for me as well with the XDA app. Switched to the regular Tapatalk app instead and have no issues.

The normal tapatalk paid app works fine for me on froyo and cm7.
You can try fixing permission in cwm to see if that helps.

Hmm okay, I don't have the paid Tapatalk app so I haven't tried that. These are just the branded Tapatalk-based apps.
I did a permission-fixing run, didn't seem to help.
Okay I took the plunge and bought the paid Tapatalk app. It does work much better on Nookie Froyo than the branded XDA or HoFo apps and it hasn't forgotten any of my info so far. I think the branded apps must be an earlier software build or something like that.

One concern I have is how many forums work with tapatalk. I just don't want to pay for an app that I will use on one or two sites. Especially when they have a free option. How much better is the paid app?

Well I'm using it on 3 sites already - XDA, HowardForums, CyanogenMod - and on two devices (Nook, Nexus One). So already it's getting well-used. Also my N1 is suffering from limited internal memory, and dumping two apps for one is always a bonus.
As for how much better it is - all I can say is that both the HoFo and XDA apps crash frequently and forget passwords on Nookie Froyo. The paid Tapatalk app appears to be completely stable on the above-mentioned forums. An additional perk I've noticed is that any forums I set as favourites on the paid app will sync to my User CP on the web forums. This was not apparently the case with the co-branded apps.
And finally, after an evening in which I bought a $3 pastry on an impulse, I decided I would not suffer unduly to purchase a $3 app.

I can't seem to find a thread detailing how to do this..
Doesn't it just come with the tiny gapps that you're supposed to flash alongside cm?
Or is there a newer market that I am unaware about?
The one that comes with cm7 rc1 nightly 3 is 2.2.11
It happens by itself.
Since installing cm7 the normal marketplace doesn't work

This.
There seem to be a lot of small screwy things related to the google applications on Gingerbread-based ROMs. Best shot for getting everything working correctly is to do a full wipe and reflash. I know I had to do that to get GTalk working.
What about the not so easy answer?

Let me know if you figure one out. I spent about two weeks trying all sorts of off-the-wall stuff to get around having to wipe to get GTalk to work. As soon as I wiped (as I should have in the first place) it worked without a hitch.
It should auto update, at least for me it did.

I flashed CM7 RC1 and I automatically got updated to 2.3.2.
Just give it time. It'll happen. Market updates by itself without user intervention.

I've been having issues with the XDA app while using Froyo or Honeycomb from the SD card. The application frequently force closes.
Also if I try XDA through the web browser, I can't use the search function. I click search, the drop down dialog box appears, but as soon as I click on it to enter text, it goes away.
Seems I can't really use XDA from either app or browser on Nook with Froyo SD or Honeycomb SD (though both worked with a rooted Eclair).
This expected behavior? Any stability differences if I were to flash Froyo to the internal SD (using a class 6 SD card currently)?
NC XDA force closing
I am having the same issue and I Froyo and Homeycomb flashed it to the internal memory....
I am too... I even paid $.99 for the Premium edition to see if it would fix it.(and because I use this site enough to give back a little)
It always crashes for me whenever I sign in to my account

CM7 nightly v14.
Using XDA Premium on Nookie Froyo 0.6.8, on the eMMC (Flashable thru CWM).
The FIRST time I opened it, there was a force close.
Since then, not one issue--signed in or out.
Same here. I ended up just getting Tapatalk (which is what XDA app is based on) and it works great with XDA as well as many other forums. No FCs at all.

Is that the paid program which costs about 23hkd? or did I miss something in my market?

Anyone have any suggestions on how to solve the FC?
I've run the Fix Permissions, uninstalled/reinstalled/rebooted etc. No love.
I'm running the emmc CM7 23 nightly with the Dalingrin 3/16 OC, ADW Launcher.
I'm having the same issue with the xda premium app. Works great until I log in and then FC as soon as I try to do anything. It worked fine running 2.1 but I recently upgraded to phiremod 5.1 and that is when the problem began.
I guess there's no solution for this? I'm also getting this error with a few other apps after flashing to 5.1 that were working before.
Still worth the update but frustrating for the few apps that will not work now.
5 dollar bounty for a fix.
Same issue, phiremod 5.1 and latest OC kernel as of 3.16, Soon as i try and open a thread or close the app if i signed on, i get a FC.
Premium app or not, this thread seems like alot of, ME TOO, or USE tapatalk..
i want to use the app i paid for, any dev's have any suggestions?
I will gladly send logcat if needed, i just want XDA app to work on my nook color!
Please... i put a 5 dollar bounty on a fix.

So, just use Tapatalk instead of XDA, or install Tapatalk then run XDA?
I am getting tired of some of the quality apps not showing up in my Nook Market. I am using CM7.
eBay, Gowalla, Amazon, now CNN (and a few others) do not show up. I have to Bluetooth them over from my phone to get them installed (and even then it's a pain when they have an update).
Anyhow, will this ever be fixed? Can the dev's somehow fool the market into beleiving that the Nook meets all of the requirements so that all of the basic missing apps show up?
Just curious if there is ANY hope in the future on this....
I believe i see the problem. I went onto the web market, and looked at the permissions, and i think it all comes down to them requiring this:
"# Hardware controls:
take pictures and videos"
Somehow, you would have to make the nook tell the market that it can take pictures/video, which should then make it compatible. I don't know how easy this is though, so i will leave it to a dev..

There are 5 or 6 apps I use on my Droid (1) that I cannot locate in the market on my NC because of this camera permission. VERY FRUSTRATING! I'm sure the devs will create a workaround for this eventually (i hope!)...

Well, yeah it'd be nice if they could just disable the camera feature. Apps crash if you force 'em and they try to use the camera, so caveat emptor

I didnt try the CNN one yet (I tried it on my phone and it was ok, but nothing like the HC on the Xoom version) but I got Amazon on my nook with Cm7 without any problem, then loaded all my apps that I had from my phone.
I loaded it by going to Amazon.com and loggin in, then it loaded to my device pretty easy (maybe one more step, but easy).
Battery on Nightly 40 was not good, i left it at 64% last night and when got home from work it was 8%. Waiting for the recharge now and then will load #41 and see if anything is better. Sorry for the long Ramble on the amazon question.

Netflix does NOT need GB to function, it appears as if it needs it for the TBolt but not overall. That being said they made Droid Bionic support available so take everything with a grain of salt. Maybe GB will be coming soon and rather than fix issues with the TBolt again soon they figured set it up for GB and users can use it then (and root users now ).

my list of apps in the market has been randomly missing a lot of apps for at least a year. "Clear data" restores all the installed apps, but after a while some go missing again. I'm quite surprised that it still happens with the new market.
No new market here, though... still 2.3.6
If you have problems with missing apps try to delete the data in the apps settings. Opening the market again will result in again an acceptation of the terms and your apps will be there again...
