Requirements:
- DK28 ROM with kernel that can run custom boot animations (Bonsai4All, ViperROM, etc)
- Ability to boot into ClockWorkMod Recovery (any version) and flash a .zip file
What is it?
- As requested by lazydazed, a working CIA boot animation (I ported fromTP2); I made a few modifications to my liking
- Won't overwrite your existing boot sound
- The preview plays pretty quick, but the actual speed on the device is appropriate
PREVIEW
Instructions:
- Download .zip to SD Card
- Flash in CWM (all versions of CWM supported)
Download updated 01/19/11 - now supports all version of CWM recovery
looks great! nice job
Thanks!

how about a tutorial thread?
I flashed it via Clockwork and it didn't show during bootup. I'm pretty sure I did everything right. I'll try reflashing. ACS DK28 Stock rom
I don't think acs' stok kernel supports custom boot animations out of the box. Maybe try one of the Bonsai roms or maybe swap thekernels and see if that does the trick

Correct, this (or any custom boot animation) will not run on a stock kernel.
Yea, I kind of figured that was the problem. Total sadface on that. Thanks for the info.

Any thoughts for a shut down animation

I had wondered what kind of shutdown animation would fit. I was fooling around with the logo in After Effects seeing if there was a way I could make it disappear in a way similar to turning off an old tube tv set. Couldn't figure it out and moved on to other things.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I was thinking something simple like "Backing up Level 7 Encrypted Files" in green with a flashing command prompt. Then some cryptic text can fill off the command prompt. Maybe then some text could pop up saying something to the effect of, "Logging Off"
Just simple and secretive
Will this work on a DI18 rom that supports boot animations?

Update to work with CWM3? Please?
That was awesome! Any thoughts of a '24' version??
Anyone have a "Galaxy S" boot animation?
Will the DL09 boot animation work or does a special one need to be CWM to the device.
Also, if someone could post a link that would be great.
I don't belive using a previous boot animation will work. We most likely will need to wait until the kernal source is released to use custom boot animations.
Seems like it might be possible to use the old one but at the moment SonOfSkywalker3's ROM manager page is down and I don't think I have it anywhere else.

No, this kernel does not support bootanimation.zip, we're stuck using the QMG boot animations. However, this does not mean you have to be stuck with the Fascinate's boot animation.
I've packaged up the Korean and the European Galaxy S stock boot animations, they're both nice alternatives to our "Verizoned" one. Just flash em in clockwork to give em a try.
KR Galaxy S Boot/Shutdown:
http://www.mediafire.com/?284o7auu1of2nnl
EU Galaxy S Boot/Shutdown:
http://www.mediafire.com/?5824mdkqcqcn057
these abort install in clockwork
Beyond messed up update_script, there's a bit more wrong, so don't copy all those files into your phones just yet, I'll reupload them when it's sorted out...
Well that's good to know. The superclean ROM doesn't have an animation. Makes me think there is something wrong on bootyp with only a black screen.

jt posted a kernel with bootanimation.zip support in IRC last night. If no one posts it up before I get home, I'll be sure to post it here for you folks then.

awesome thanx
Thank you very much imnuts that would be excellent. Thank you too CrushD.
Re-updated my above post with the correct files/some stock files in case you tried to copy over files from the older update. I've been using these animations on DL30, but I accidentally packaged the wrong files and signed it wrong earlier. These ones work, I personally recommend the Korean one.
Thank jt for this
It will also flash the new cwm kernel to recovery for you as well.

ETA: Installed, I have boot animation on dl30. Thanks, guys!
oops, no sound now.
i would never have guessed that a simple boot animation would require a specific kernel lol

The animation will work on any rooted device and some non rooted. boot animations typically have no compatibility limits.

If enough people wish for one and I have the time then yes I will make one. =)
You didn't happen to take this from Sonny?
I've seen a bunch of these threads and each Bootanimation is a difderent size. I'm a little confused. 5MBs, 3.4, 8.2......
Btw, Sonny has flashable zips.

For ICS we don't have any kernel development unfortunately. As for EQS, that is in SystemUI.apk and can be found in my build

Or i could be less fo a fool and just flash them in CWM as you point out in your thread!
EDIT: Think i must have done something wrong, my phone wont boot into sense now, i flashed the % battery mod and SystemUI for EQS and now i get systemui has crashed messages all the time, sense never fully starts and i get into anything! Disaster.....
Thoughts?
Which ROM did you grab it from?
Best way to install is by adb pushing it
Just reflash the stock ROM over the top. Should fix your issues.

Thanks, I grabbed it from the sense 4 load, hence the problems I made for myself. I decided to blank my phone and just go to your sense 4 final beta anyway. Eventually after a full format I got it back working. Just need to flash the extra quick settings and recent apps riles now and sorted. Thanks for your help

Yes think that was the issue. Thanks for your help, just out of interest, any chance of your final build having cifs supported in the kernel? Im just starting to teach myself how to compile kernels, hopefully il be able to contribute soon!
I personally don't touch kernels, but vertigo does. Not sure whether he will have time to do one.
I hope to soon start playing with them when I get some more time, but if you manage to make one then maybe I can bang it in

Make sure to rename current boot animation to bootanimation.zip.bak. Then copy new boot animation to folder, and make sure it is named bootanimation.zip. Should work.
It's was all just an illusion

That's what I original tried but didn't work , I had to go OEM in root then go to media and delete the boot animation cause that's at&t boot anime.
