Hello There,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Tab smartphones. When using Facebook App (latest version) on both phones through Wifi, I cant get precise Notifications and also I cannot upload photos to facebook. However, when using 3G, everything works fine. I guess the issue with facebook is that first it uploads some data onto the facebook servers and then gets the relevant notifications. To pin point to problem, I checked with the wifi and it turned out that my wifi (BSNL Broadband in India) broadband has Data Upload Compression (which I can verify through www.speedtest.net). Is there anyway to tweak seetings in android so as to enable the facebook notifications and photo upload in such date upload compression enabled connections. To add, when using my PC through the same broadband, the images gets uploaded to facebook without any problem. So I guess there might be some kind of a minimum bit settings for upload data somewhere, maybe higher in Android and lower in PC connections.
A help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Akshay
Same deal here with HTC Sensation XE. Can upload pics fine via 3G, no go with Wi-Fi.

This problem has popped up recently for me. After any automatic or manual email update (MSN through Windows Live, or Comcast.net through AT&T Express Mail) any of my Office Mobile Apps and the Notes App take forever to load or close a document, excel sheet, power point, or note. Using ProcessManager 1.2.1.36462 I can see note.exe, word.exe, etc in running processes long before they are "open."
I've recently updated to the latest Google Maps, and installed and uninstalled Slide 2 Unlock, Slide 2 Play, and Slide 2 View. I am running the stock AT&T WM 6.1 without the AT&T bloatware.
I've searched through the forums, and the internet and haven't found any solutions, or even anyone experiencing the same problems.
Thanks in advance.
Brad
Update, If the mail update is done over wi-fi this problem does not occur. Only when updating via my data connection (AT&T Media Net)
i completel understand what u r experiencing. through personal expericence, the only way to solve this is to change the connection settings from ur phone 'network type'
from 'Auto' to GSM or wCDMA
this solved the problem for me straight away even when i have just sync with my mail. hope this helps, feedback for other member's benefit whether this worked or not
Hi Guys,
I noticed all the data syncs (google syncs in particular like GoMarks, then a currency program i have ) going on with galaxy s (froyo) - if i turn data comm off - it doesnt sync via wifi.
comparing with iphone - you could have all sync via wifi.
Am I doing something wrong ?
Thx
not sure what is wrong with your phone, if anything.
but my calendar, emails, phone book and other stuff syncs normally when i'm on WiFi
check your settings perhaps?
did you install any app that might give you some choices related to that?
It may be that your wifi has not all ports open.
sync uses gtalk for the push notifications. Check if you can connect to gtalk when on wifi.

Guys I just bought my Note 10days back and this is my first Android phone.. I was using the applications (Gtalk, FB, Widgets etc.) through WIFII till yesterday.. Then I activated 3G in my Mobile Network.. Problem is i am not able to use those apps through 3G. When i try to login the application like FB, GMail, Gtalk through 3G it says login failed.. not able to connect to server.. But it works through WIFII.. Are these meant to work in WIFII only or am i missing anything..
Please help
did you enter in your settings for your mobile data?
some service providers (like vodafone and 3) have a page on their website that you can use to send the correct settings to your device.
I have got the settings.. my default browser works smoothly with 3G.. . but the Applications are not working through 3G.
guys my issues has ben resolved.. apps are working now.. i had some issues with my 3G settings.. its sorted now.. thanks
My note seems to be only able to connect to the internet over WIFI. If I disable WIFI then it says unable to connect, no matter how strong my signal is or where I am.
Anyone got any ideas ?
Need more info, what sync are you referring to?
Sent from my Paranoid Android GT-N7000. It doesn't get much better than this!
its is under Settings > accounts and sync
here you set which accounts you want to sync.
google, twitter, facebook etc
I'm pretty sure there's an option somewhere to limit sync to on wifi only, but not on stock at the moment so can't say where it is...

Hello!
I am using Idea 3G data conenction (Mumbai, India). I am able to browse on the internet or access/download apps from the playstore. My problem is that some specific apps such as Whatsapp and Twitter are not able to connect to the internet while some like Yahoomail and Facebook can. I have tried all the options given in this list - http://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/android/22014642.
Please help! Twitter is manageable but difficult to survive without Whatsapp! :crying:
