I have sipdroid, a pbxes account, and a verified Google voice phone number.
I keep getting emails from PBXes saying that my trunk has been offline for over 10 minues and I have yet to be able to send or receive a call.
I have to have some settings wrong.
I setup a new SIP trunk with the following
Name: GTalk
Language: English
dtmfmode: auto
audio bypass: no
sendrpid: no
username (my google email)
password (my google password)
SIP server: I have tried google.com, gmail.com, sip.voice.google.com
domain:
register: yes (inbound and outbound)
Every other box on the page is blank.
Can anyone help with this? voip is new to me so I'm still learning here.
Got it working, nevermind on this.
would you mind giving instruction as to what you did to get it working? I would apprecieate it... I deleted my account from pbxes to start fresh install without having to manually enter in everything for gtalk trunk and it will not allow me to auto create anymore so im stuck and cant figure it out and ive read the wiki and google searched on how to set up gtalk trunks and such but I am unable to get it to work.
Thanks
-James
I second this. I've been trying to set this up too and I'm not quite sure how.
This is the exact information I'm looking for, too (a Google search just brought me to this page). I'm in the same boat as c-pimp (deleted PBxes account to start over, then it wouldn't let me auto-create again). I'd appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

Maybe you should have googled better I'm sure I got it set up from one of those guides
Thanks. I think I've got the settings correct now, and at last I see the red dot on the top of the Sipdroid screen. However, when I attempt to initiate a call, it says "call in progress" then instantly goes to "call ended". Any ideas?

So, your MO is to post a thread asking how to do something, figure it out yourself, and then be a **** about it when people ask the same question you did in the OP?
Good luck with that. I hope it takes you far in life.
that was a pretty funny little reply though you got to admit.

i tried to use chit chat the application was good and the voice was clear. but i found that its pre configured with a specific service called "weepee", i went to their website its in non english language. aslo i found a directory called chit chat in my sdcard contains a file called "profile" i edited this file to my asterisk server username and password using sip protocol it didnt work then i tried AIX protocol it works. so guys you can use AIX through this program just go and edit /sdcard/chit chat/profile put the server, username and password and here we go.
i really need voip, thanks for info
can you tell more about your discovery? (for noobs) i couldnt find any application called chit chat
i currently use google voice for int'l calls, any way to call for even cheaper?
Best VoIP client for Android is a little app called sipdroid. Get it from the dev's website as the one in the market does not allow calls in 3G or edge. It was one of the first apps i got and i've never paid for a call again. You have to create an account with Pbxes and configure there (read their tutorial) but once is set up is the most incredible app ever! like i said, haven't paid for a call in months!
hey, thanks for an answer
afaik sipdroid and pbxes isnt enough to place an int'l PSTN call, you have to have a sip provider e.g. Gizmo5, but gizmo's rates are higher than on GV, so not interesting
any other reliable sip provider? i tried voipuser but they want a non-free email address - what is that i have no idea. im not giving them my work email
I use Guava, pretty cool with googlevoice and a gizmo accounts work good. Sometimes there is a problem but most of the time it works.
Guava isnt on the market but can be downloaded at http://gizmo5.com/guava and trandferred to the sdcard.
@hihik as StreetGuru said Sipdroid is optimized to work with pcxes as I imagine same people took the lead in writing sipdroid.
Dont worry about giving them your email as they dont or very rarely send anything out. Why work email? How about your ISP email?
Anyway has anybody tried Crolix Communicator from market. It supposed to work with GTalk for voip calling gmail contacts.
I am waiting for Nimbuzz to inpliment voip but I assume they are having difficuly in codecs department.
Well, Google hasnt given us voice call feature in Google Talk application, I wonder why!
I have never understood why people have such a hard time coming up with email addresses. Get a dyndns address, register it to your public IP address, and put an email server on your home computer. Done. Unlimited email addresses with unlimited (aside from your hard disk space) storage.

Sipdroid not working for Pennytel
I follow similarly for pennytel account (sip.pennytel.com)
I got the green icon but when I tried to call to the pennytel account, it says the user is not available.
It is a working account when used with Nokia E71 SIP setting.

@priyana,
Sipdroid is developped by PBXES.org and is fully optimized to work with pbxes. So creat a free account there and configure pennytel account within pbxes. You can have upto five sip registration with a free account.

For step by step using pbxes.org, maybe you can follow this page:
http://seethisnowreadthis.com/2009/...-with-any-sip-provider-on-your-android-phone/
I think it should work with pennytel, but I have not tried.
Not too comfy putting my user credentials in pbxes.org.
What do you guys think? Is it really 100% safe?
100% safe? I should think so. But this question is not appropriate here as there may be just a handful sip users here. You should visit forums of voxalot , sipuser etc where you will meet nearly 100% sip/voip users.
PBXes is good and running like any other business?
If you are a free user than questions like are they trustworty or not seem hyprocritical. Buy their paid service ans see how good they are when it comes to receiving help and support.
Finally I figured it out how to call out through PBXes from my HTC Magic.
Thank you.

tested and working
I have just rooted my phone to Gingerbread, and I just LOVE it. I was able to set up the gmail accounts easily, so I have two separate gmail "labels" on my phone, each one for a different gmail account. I still cannot get the message count to show up on my notification bar, however, but that's not the reason for this post.
I am trying to do the same thing for my yahoo accounts (I have two of them). Yes, I can download the yahoo widget/app and that puts yahoo pretty much live on my phone - but I'm not looking for that. I'm looking for the shortcuts, like Gmail, so I can click on them and it takes me to a brief list of emails etc. I don't want to have full access to yahoo on my phone, but just the shortcuts.
When I try to set it up, this is what I do:
1) put a shortcut to the Email icon on my screen and name it.
2) When I try to configure it, I put my yahoo user name (xxx at yahoo.com) in and password
3) the message that comes up is "Mailbox access is not supported for some times of yahoo mail accounts" etc. I click on OK
4) it tells me setup could not finish as there is an incorrect username or password. I am 10000% certain I enter the correct name and password.
5) if I try a different yahoo email account, I get the same error message, plus (530 Access Denied: need SMTP privileges to access this server).
I used to have yahoo email shortcuts on my phone before I rooted - and they were great. I had two icons, and the message count showed up in my notification bar. When I rooted first (to I guess AOSP 9.9.2, before gingerbread), I could get the yahoo mail icons to work, no problem. I was not able to add an account in the "accounts and sync" - that only offers me "google" or "corporate" (which I guess is exchange). It's only with gingerbread i am having this problem.
I am VERY basic when it comes to using the phone, so if anyone responds, please pretend I'm about four years old, so please explain in basic language what I need to do. Anything complicated, and I might not follow (sorry). Still a newbie.
Thank you everyone.
This has been a problem for me on some roms too. Including aospCMod, some will let you set up a yahoo account and others will not. I first noticed this when I switched from cm6 to aospmod awhile back. Cm6 would let me sign in to a yahoo account but aosp would not. Then about 2 updates later on aospmod, I could all of a sudden sign in.
So this leads me to believe its an internal setting that the dev can modify to fix this. What it is idk, and when it'll come for or gingerbread roms idk, but take comfort in knowing your not the only one who has come across this.
Its kind of weird really, hopefully someone else knows why this happens out how to fix it.

Try using K9 mail, it is free in the market and much better than Yahoo mail app. I am sure you will be able to get emails and such, but not sure how much it will help with the other widget type problems.

Yahoo doesn't work any more :-(
Strange. yesterday, I set it up and it worked like a charm - IMAP and smtp, changed the server settings (did it all manually) - worked very well yesterday and today was working just fine. Hadn't checked my emails for a few hours though - just tried - and it tells now incorrect user name or password. I deleted it and tried to add the yahoo account again - first it tells me unable to open connection to server. Tried again (making sure all settings were correct) and it just says incorrect username or password.
Under IMAP server I have imap.mail.yahoo.com, port 143, security type none - exactly like I had it yesterday and this morning, and it doesn't work. incorrect username or password.
I haven't changed a THING with my phone - not a single thing - or downloaded any new apps - so I'm mystified. Thoughts anyone?
Thank you

Hi guys, first ever post on XDA, so hi to all...
I've just bought a brand new nexus one, rushed home all excited to start messing about with it. Updated fine to 2.2.1 but, when i'm trying to get into the market or gmail, it wont let me sign in with my existing gmail username and password. I know that I'm using the correct username and password.
I'm massively frustrated as I don't want to run two separate accounts and I want to crack on with my new phone!!!
I've got an existing htc desire, which is my everyday phone, surely you don't have to use a separate account on each phone, obviously I've got loads of apps on my original gmail account and want to be able to use one single gmail account.
Question: Can I use 1 gmail account on an htc desire and the nexus one simultaneously?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is weird. You should be able to sign in with your gmail account and password. Is it some kind of HTC Sense security feature? Also are you using Google Authenticator and the 2-step verification feature?

That should be it, turn off the 2-step and you will log right in.
Alternatively, try putting in one of those passwords they asked you to print out during the 2-step wizard.
hi there, thanks for getting back to me.
i am using the 2 step verification, which i thought might be the problem. i'm going to try to disable the extra security and see if that does the trick. mind you, i'm not even sure you can disable it. additionally, i've not heard of an htc feature that prevents simultaneous login, so i'm not sure it's that.
i think you've answered my question though, so far as i should be able to log in on both phones, so thanks
Dude, did you even read the pages when you set up 2-step auth? They very clearly explain that you will need to generate a special password for services that use Google, your standard password will not function.
hey guys, i've just turned off the 2 step verification and have logged in as normal.
thanks for the help
i did read the initial instructions but that was about three weeks ago and I'd obviously forgotten that particular part but thanks for the input. i'll go back and re-read the relevant sections.
I used Google Now to search for a online ska/punk radio station on my way home on my HTC One. I get home to help my Dad learn how to use his One and MY search for the radio station is showing on HIS Google Now app!
I checked his and My Accounts and Sync list under settings and neither phone has the other person's accounts.
I did sign into Gmail last night on his phone through the browser, not the app, but I signed out before I performed the search in question.
Before you ask, no, he's not spying on me, he doesn't know how to use a smartphone, and I'm the primary account holder for the phone service.
Please help!
If you sign into a Google account on Chrome EVERYTHING gets synced. Bookmarks, history and w/e else. At least, that's what I think.
Google can tell when a search is coming from the same house and sometimes you search history is filed in due to your geographical proximity.
but it's ok to eat fish cause they don't have feelings.....

It happens. Would make a great practical joke though.
So i was using Pure Nexus rom 7.0 for my nexus 6. And i was using 2 step verification with sms option.
But because i was logging in a lot out of my PC and didn't receive the sms codes sometimes, i decided to try Google Authenticator app. Biggest nightmare of my life.
I disabled the sms option to try make the app the default way for using 2 step verification.
Then a Pure Nexus Nougat 7.1.1 rom came out and i wiped everything, without making a nandroid backup (yes i know, so stupid of me).
When i wanted to logged in to my account it asked for a code from Google Authenticator app which is not installed in my phone so i had no way to log in.
I had to ask from help from Google which is apparently has the worst costumer services i have ever seen. I filled the account recovery form which asks me when i created my google account(like i would ever remember) and then i ask me to provide all the details i can.
This week my 5th request to recovery for the account was rejected. Sadly, i get an auto email from google telling me that they couldn't verify i'm the rightful owner. They asked me for more details, but wont tell what details that could be. i have no idea what can i do to prove then im the owner.
What a disappointment from google that i cant even attach photos to the request and that all they do is to tell me to provide more details with an auto message, with no guidance.
Oh, and btw i posted in the google nexus forum and was told the exact same thing as the auto -reply email.
Anyone here had he's account recovered and can tell what detail to provide?

There should be a link that says something like "Having trouble?" below the field where you would enter the authenticator code. Tap that and you will get a list of options, one of which is to verify via text message.
Getting such a text does not change defaults.

Just to cover one more possibility that you haven't mentioned, did you not print the 10 authentication codes that you can use for exactly your situation?
Failing that, maybe zelendel can give you some advice on the procedure he mentioned above?
Edit: on rereading the thread, maybe I'm getting confused because mirosaw2 has posted a question which seems to be related to his device, not his account, and therefore (if I'm correct) should not have been posted in this thread because it's a different question and zelendel's answer doesn't apply to the OP's problem.

@Strephon Alkhalikoi
"he should be able to get them easily enough"
But if he hasn't got access to his account, and Google are playing hardball, how can he get the codes now?
By signing in on his PC. Unless he didn't click the box near where it says "Don't ask again on this computer" on the Google sign-in screen, he won't need an authentication code to access his account. Other devices and services requiring access to Google still need to go through the authenticator.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the problem. I understand that the OP doesn't have access to his Google account at all, therefore he can't validate his phone, but also can't sign into Google on his PC. Maybe he can clarify that for me?

He set up the Google Authenticator on his N6 because of his frequently accessing his Google account on the PC. Apparently he disabled SMS retrieval in his account, and then wiped his device. Now when he tries to activate the account on the N6 he can't because the account requires an authentication token. Google cannot verify that he is who he says he is and thus will not give him a code.
Unless he set up his PC to automatically authenticate his account upon login, he won't be able to authenticate his account. That means he's locked out of everything and will have to make a new account. He'll also have to find a way to bypass FRP on the N6, as he'll get locked out trying to activate.
