Similar sized bluetooth keyboard?

Hello,
I just wanted to ask if anyone has found a keyboard thats similar sized to the galaxy tab itself.
This is the closest one I could find:

It's folder/keyboard/stand all in one. The keyboard feels like an old spectrum keyboard (if that means anything to you) and is VERY responsive! Basically, it turns the tablet into a netbook.
Incidentally, I got mine for £25, so it was a bit cheaper than that. If you want one, shop around.

I just got the Logitech Dinovo Mini and it works perfectly. It's actually smaller than the tab and fits in one hand.

Thanks for the link Yea I've seen that one, but I don't quite like how you have to open a flap to prop it up.
Then again, the others that come up as in your link seem to be quite good, there is one that props up by slightly folding the case

What about the Sprint Galaxy Tab version?
It appears that the Sprint GT has had the HID bluetooth disabled. Does anybody know if there is a fix for this? I would love to have one of the Cases that include the BT Keyboard for obvious reasons.

i use the Mac small Bluetooth keyboard, which is also used for the Imac etc.... It works fine, immediately recognized by the Tab! costs in the Netherlands are about 50 $.

I do hope that some company makes a case are cool and awesome as the clamcase and crux360 (available only for the ipad)
I know some might say "just buy a netbook then". But serious, how many netbooks have such a long standby? How many will let you only use the screen... etc etc.

BT Keyboard
I also use the Apple Bluetooth keyboard. It works great and it's rather comfortable to type with, the keys are responsive and the batteries last for months. It's a few inches longer than the Tab, so it may not quite be what you're looking for, but it's a great match for the Tab, despite being a Jobsian issue.
Be aware that there are some apps that have BT settings that will conflict with the use of any BT device and I had a GREAT MANY very frustrating device freezes requiring several reboots to correct. I was ready to shatter the device's screen and cut my own throat with the broken glass (hyperbole) until I found out about this unknown setting in Pandora for BT sync with an autotive BT system. After that was unticked, I didn't have anymore freezing issues *knock on wood*, so be wary of that.

I have this keyboard, it's amazing: responsive, ultra light, the battery is eternal and the clit mouse + touch scroll is really usefull.

That's nice to here I'm very keen on this one, just because its so close in dimensions to the tab itself. But then I'm thinking of getting a slightly larger one (probably the xoom keyboard or apple keyboard) since I could use it at home as well. Decisions decisions...
But I'm so envious of the clamcase I'm going to be annoying and ask if they have plans for the tab. Doubt it since its "old" and probably not too popular. But hey, who knows
Out of curiosity, who'd buy a clamcase if it was made for the tab? I would definitely!

I've been working on trying to get the xoom keyboard to connect to my tab and so far I've got no where. It shows up in the bluetooth screen after a scan, but it just fails to give me a window to enter a paring number and gives me a message that I failed to enter the pairing number (which it then shows me) that is different every time.
Have you had any luck connecting one to your SGT?

Just connect it as you will with a bluetooth earpiece.

I haven't got a xoom keyboard still having a difficult time choosing a keyboard.

Have been using the Logitech DiNovo Edge with the Galaxy Tab. Works just fine, but it is nowhere close to being portable! Anyway, the keyboard is falling apart after years of use, and I was debating between the diNovo Mini and the Logitech Mediaboard. I will be using it not just with the Tab, but also in a HTPC setup.
I feel the Mini is too small for extended typing and the reviews say it is a bit flimsy. I had almost decided on the Mediaboard... when I spotted this Iogear.

Awaiting delivery. The specs are great, and the price is decent. Plus the model debuted at CES 2011, so I am assuming it is more 'modern' and up to date with drivers and profiles than the Logitech products which are a few years old now...

So jealous I mean I'd even settle for that horizontal keyboard dock for the 8.9. Sexy. I think our best bet would be to wait for the BB playbook to be released. Since its similar sized, we might be able to use their cases/docks etc...

Looks like the main prob with our current tab is that the docking port is orientated in portrait rather than landscape

Do all the designated shortcut keys like music and volume work? I have the Samsung dock keyboard but not being able to use it in landscape mode kills it. Really like all the shortcut keys though.

Android Cars

How come we haven't seen a wave of aftermarket double DIN android based radio replacements yet? Android seems like the obvious platform for a new head unit. Foxconn should be able to hack the Moto Xoom's guts in to something within a week. Its even called the Xoom! Come on Mazda. All it needs is some custom sound processing and maybe an external GPS hook up and your car would be a million times more awesome. Forget an extra $2k for Sync or OnStar, you could buy a $5 app to steer your car with your phone!
Sorry that got a little rant-y there but does anyone know of any manufacturers working on this?

One day, I'm gonna retire and build an entire networked house. The moment I stop snoozing my alarm, the toaster will start, the coffee machine will start, and everything else will start.
Then I'd bang my wife and drink sucky coffee, but it'll be worth it.

This could in theroy be VERY possible. Id work on it for my truck but i dont have near enoughbfunds, time, or equipment.

Erm... I would think that only certain non-safety-critical stuff be controlled via Android. Like the entertainment system. I don't want my Android to FC the braking application, nor would I like the Accelerator app to have a memory overflow.

in most countries it is illegal to even watch a dvd or TOUCH your GPS now...

I have been wondering the same thing and had searched Google extensively a few weeks ago. There is one really simple single-DIN with a tiny teeny screen that runs Android, but I want a double-DIN with 7" LCD and built-in navigation.
Perhaps the problem is the open-source nature of Android? Big companies like Pioneer, JVC, Sony, Kenwood, etc. very much want to keep their products as closed as possible. I know Pioneer is kind of like Apple, they use custom chips for everything. I have an AVIC-Z3 navigation HU, and I think the only way anyone knew it uses a Hitachi SH4 processor is by disassembling the code. All the chips are Pioneer branded with Pioneer part numbers on them.
Of course, that begs the question of why no Chinese company has come up with an Android HU. After all, it's free and far cheaper for them to use than having to write a crappy proprietary OS or using Windows CE as many do.
It's too bad there aren't any hackers in the car navigation scene. If people can figure out how to boot Android on WinMo devices, I'm pretty sure the same skill set would work on car navigation as most run Windows Automotive (WinCE).
Oh, and there do exist a few double-DIN Car PCs that normally run XP. I don't know where to actually buy one, but something like that could easily run Android. The fact that they will use an x86 processor is no biggie considering Android apps all run in the Dalvik VM.

Anyway I'm working on this project for my BMW. BMW's from the mid 90's to the mid 00's have a serial bus that controls all entertainment functions (volume control, mode, HVAC). It's been throughly hacked with most of the codes available around the internet. I'm designing a hardware interface based on the sparkfun IOIO (which isn't actually in production yet) to talk to the bus with samsung tab. It should replicate all stock functionality plus all of what can be done with android. And the tab fits in the stock location! Of course, it'll only work with the previous generation of BMWs so there is still room for an all purpose solution...

As for stock stereos, Chevrolet is supposed to partner with google to put android in the new Volt. Maybe that will spurr a wave of awsomeness.

Well seems like someone has come up with something. If you have a BMW/Audi/Merc you can get a Dynavin replacement head unit that runs android

I used to work with a girl and she used to drive me home at night and she had one of the first gps units... it looked like a little tv and sat on the dashboard. A cop stopped us and yelled at her for "watching tv" while driving....

damm, i want one of these. awesome find!

Been looking for something like this myself for the past 2 months. I've found a similar product (pretty much the same dynavin unit, only this one is for sale ) and it's mounted on a Rover 75 which kinda' gives me a bit of hope that it's not BMW/Merc/Audi only (I own a 2004 Passat). It's a bit too expensive for me atm but maybe someone else is interested (and has the funds to actually get it). You can also add a rear view camera and it integrates nicely with the steering wheel controls (at least that's what they say).

I am very tempted to buy it but this would be my first head unit and I really want it to be an Android one (I've been really pleased with my Android phone so far). Any advice would be really appreciated. Also, how much does it usually cost to have it installed?

Best inexpensive keyboard case available?

Any input or sugestions before I buy a keyboard case that might be sub-par? I see some online for as low as $12, just want to know if others have had good luck with them.

I found one for £7 but don't know if it works with JellyBean and a.k.a the Nexus 7

word of warning though. those keyboards are usually too small to be really useful. or at least that's how i feel.

My experience with Bluetooth keyboards, and Bluetooth in general, has been awful. I have bought two separate bluetooth keyboard cases for the Nexus 7 and they don't connect very well. I will be in the middle of typing and all of a sudden the keyboard will stop responding to my keystrokes. The keyboard is still on, bluetooth is still on on the device, but it just "poof" stops working. What a waste of money.

I just picked up a MOGA game pad, the flatish one. It's pretty great. Best buy price matched amazon so it only ran me $30. Plus it came with pac man and sonic. It also works with deadtrigger, and nova 3 I believe. Theres a root app you can get so you can use it on app though. or at least you could in theory.

Ive tryed every single one... I always go back to the ps3 controller because of the build quality.

I've used PS3 Sixaxius Controller with the Sixaxias Controoller app. I like it the best. With the app, it's fairly robust with quite a bit of games because of the touch profiles you can create with and for it. Another bonus, you can get something like the GameKlip, which makes it easier for gaming on the go.
I've tried the OnLive Universal Controller. Only works with the OnLive app. I could get it to detect in games like Dead Trigger, but couldn't program it. OnLive did something different to where going into the map buttons sections of games only gives one command.
I've installed Wiimote Controller app and synce the Wiimote, but didn't try any games. It's good for emulators.

Using my moga controller because it was free.

I also got it for free, and I am still disappointed with it. It always takes several attempts to get it to sync, and they have it so restricted to what games it will work on, that ruins it IMO.

Same here. I got mine for free but returned it to walmart (since they sell them there) and got a 40 dollar gift card LOL. Easy money! I wish I would've gotten more.

You don't need the gameklip, but they are really nice. It just holds your phone for you. If you can find somewhere to prop your phone or something all you need is the controller and the sixaxis app.

Yeah I know i dont need a gameklip though it would be nice to be able to play without holding your phone at the same time.

i use a ps3 knockoff controller and sixaxis. it does the job, but probably would be better with a genuine controller.

Moga looked very promising in the beginning. After using though I would never try it again... It isn't worth your money. It isn't even worth free in my opinion...

I heard the same, that in of itself was the reason I never wanted to try it out.

Controllers
So, I've tried about 15 different controllers with my phone and for me, it's the PS3 Dualshock and a gameklip every time. With Jellybean supporting wireless controller profiles it's just the easiest thing out there. If you do go this route, I suggest the Dualshock controller specifically due to the slight added weight. With the gameklip the phone sits about 1/4" from the controller and with the regular sixaxis controller it feels a little top heavy after a while, whereas the slightly heavier Dualshock keeps that from happening.
Another tip with the gameklip (especially for you guys that already have one) if you get the gameklip you have the option of getting it with a case just for the klip... DON'T. It's crap... But, I've found a great solution! Get one of these vent mounts...

Then, just pop the mounting plate off and attach the gameklip to that. You phone just snaps in and out really easy and is very secure.
The only other controller I would recommend is the Nyko Playpad or Playpad Pro. Great battery life, comes with some cool accessories and a case. The only downside is that being as small as it is, long play sessions are less than comfortable.

Yes but can you set up some good profiles for games like you would on the sixaxis app? It be great if that app could work with the playpad or does it?
I like the form factor of the small playpad to keep in my ride so i can play while my phones docked there. Not trying to really be caring a ps3 control cus honestly there to bulky for me, Small playpad seems easier to store in glovebox

I use the iControlPad. .. it's the most portable and versatile gamepad that I've found that can attach to the phone. Waiting for the iControlpad2 to be released so I can have a bluetooth keyboard and gamepad in 1 device.

I've been using the Ps3 controller with the sixaxis app from the market (I'm rooted) for about a week now. I love it. Enough so that I bought a GameKlip. Definitely recommend. I had contemplated the MOGA or other marketed Android gamepad's but I kept reading that app compatibility is hit or miss. It's not exactly plug/play but with some quick settings it's great.

I had contemplated the MOGA or other marketed Android gamepad's but I kept reading that app compatibility is hit or miss. It's not exactly plug/play but with some quick settings it's great.

Yea, Sixaxis AINEC imo. Nothing comes close to the accuracy and reliability it provides. Just root already and start rocking the PS3 controller

Nexus 7 roll-away/gel keyboard

I'm looking for a keyboard to use with my Nexus 7 but don't want a rigid/hard keyboard. I would prefer a soft roll-away kind.
Does anyone know if these exist and work with nexus 7?

A Laser Virtual Keyboard is even more compact.

Looks like there's one on KickStarter that uses bluetooth. It's about 49-59 USD if you can wait till Aug or Sept. Linkage here.

I can't say with 100% certainty, but I would assume it would work. Many other users have used USB keyboards via OTG and never had issues. Personally, my wireless USB keyboard works fine.
The only constraint you need to worry about, in general, is if the device draws too much power from the USB and if your device can handle the power drain. But based upon that keyboard I'd be pretty sure it'd work without issues.

yeah. Power draw may be an issue. I cant seem to find any flexi keyboards with bluetooth, does anyone happen to know if there are any, apart from the one originally posted.

got many results off of amazon. However, a lot of their reviews don't look like they're up to par.

Christ, i got one sent and it was painfully small. I've sent seller v.angry letter as they didn't include any sizes on amazon nor that the keys are so crap that they sometimes need pressing 2/3 times to work. The other reviews on item show 4/5 star reviews.

O.O sorry mate. Yeah I figured those keyboards were a bit dodgy. It's really hard to find a good one of those. I think that KickStarter one is your best bet, but it is a bit pricey.
