I want to buy a Samsung Galaxy S and I love this smartphone.
but there is only one negative point about this mobile phone.
It doesn´t have a headset with remote controls for the mp3 player.
Why? For me it´s an very important point because I listen to music every day and I use my mobile phone as a music player. It´s annoying to get the SGS out of the pocket to change the music or something else
I read the PINs have an different order then normal headset and I read that the Nokia headset adapters have the same PIN order as the SGS.
Why can´t we use headset adapters like HS-45 or AD-43 from Nokia to control the musicplayer in SGS?
I don´t want to use headsets with one button or a bluetooth headset like the SE MW600
Bluetooth headset = more batterie drainage
Is it a problem with a driver? I mean do we need a driver to support adapters like them or is it something else?
I know that there a lot of threads with this questions, but I never found an answer why they won´t work
I hope you guys can help about this problem.
If there isn´t a solution for my question then here is an off topic question:
Are there any High-end Android phone which support headsets with musicplayer controls?
and sorry for my bad english ^^ it´s not my native language
there are remotes that work if you are on froyo 2.2 or 2.2.1
this remote i got off ebay works fine.. one push of the button pauses, another resumes... two pushes fast fwd.. with stock music player.
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EMC40AONMEBSTD
here is one on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5mm-Handsfree...012355?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a0d509943
I know about them and thx for your replay , but I already wrote that don´t want them , because these aren´t really a good replacement for those adapters I normally use.
I need the buttons Play,Pause,Forward,Backward, Volume Up/Down ans Skip songs
ok but they have all the functionality you mentioned.. there is a volume dial for up down volume,
and play, pause, skip fwd and skip bckwrd are all mapped to the button with various number of presses.. i use it in the car and for skiing all the time.
i gues the only thing they dont have is ffd and bckwd. so you are right there.. they only skip fwd a song and skip bckwd.
I don´t get how it will work if a want to change the volume.
for example if I want to make the song louder (2 volumes) do I have to push 4 times , have a short short break and then again 4 times?
For now I use a N95 with the AD-43 headset adapter.. and it´s perfect for mp3

Well i notice more and more people joining my clubb of having the trubble of bad sound in there cars or Bluetooth Headsets Sins Htc Diamond Fails with the Equalizer totaly exapt for when you have a cabel headset.
The the Audiobooster or as i would like to call it Retardbooster sins the guy that came upp with it must be an idiot when more and more uses Bluetooth connection to there headset or Cars..
I have tried Audiomanager, S2p among other players and none of them had a equlizer that would work against the Bluetooth.
Sins the others did either not have any effekt @ all OR they only worked with a cabel headset.
I went and buyed Coreplayer sins i was going to use that anyway for watching movies when ever im not using my car. And WOLA!
Coreplayers Equalizer works in the Bluetooth sets ALLSO.
But here comes the but. It has its flaws. Skip and backwards command for cars of headsets does not work. And the buttons are so small theres no way i would try picking them when im driving my car. for others and mine safty.
BUT this Shows that a stand along Equalizing program thats using the inbuilt player should be np to make?
Why would i wanna use the one thats build in?
1. Skip and Backwards command works in cars and with BT headsets.
2. Toutch commands works
3. looks good.
I would have no problem using s2p if that would have a equalizing program that works towards BT sins its has about the same futures as the inbuilt one.
Please people Help me and the others with this problem. Cause if this problem would be gone then many of us would be less irritated by this problem.
it's my wishlist also, an equalizer which works with bluetooth headset and AVRCP which works with all media players, not only HTC music player and WMP.
I realy have been looking to solv this problem for a long time now. there are tons of program for other Htc phones but none will work on the diamonds BT problem sadly..
So is there no one that has a clue how to fix this problem with the diamond?

if you need big buttons, use MortPlayer
or try this... http://www.pocketmind.com/pocketmusic.htm

Well problem it that Mortplayer my or may not have toutch funktion. Im gonna check it out now.
The second one posted was not an option. Im not paying for a program that does the same things as coreplayer
If i am to pay again i will pay for getting a program that either can just emulate the sound for the inbuilt player.
Or a program that fits all the first options i was talking about.
Well Tried Mortplayer now and that one was worst then coreplayer.
It had bigger buttons and you could style it witch is a big +
But still its not paying any atentions to bluetooth commands like skip and backwards.
Both coreplayer and Mortplayer seems to be using another codec then the standard player in diamond (atleast that is what it seems like.)
Im more and more comming to the conclution that whats needed is just a EQUALIZER that equalizes the normal sound of the phone. Sins that is what the bluetooth is aiming it sounds towards....
So what we need is a stand alone equalizing program that can be activated without hearphones being connected.
im having the exact same issue with my touchpro and someone said come search in diamond forum and of course just problems no solutions
i will add mysalf behind the line, funny that there just a few replys...
also it woud be nice to use the htc radio over BT, jack sh**t, the EQ an RADIO to use with wired headset, i thought it is 2009?!?!!? microsoft?!?!
I use a program called pocket player. When you install it asks you if you want to install a plugin to work with bluetooth commands. I use it in my car and it works fine. Sound is great, fast buffering, bluetooth controls work fine. Give it a try. Maybe download the trial version first.
hope this helps.
hey guys,
i've been searching some time for an alternative to the original headset.
you all know its a piece of ****
there's a instruction in the xda wiki to mod the original headset and to use the remote with in-ears or something else.
i'm wondering if i should do that..but thats another question
i found the remote for creative's zen.
you see, it has some more functions than the original htc headset, but i think the "standard" functions like play/pause, forward/rewind etc should work, didnt they?
you find it here
thanks guys.

unless it randomly handles the button presses the same way as the HD2, it likely won't work.
Furthermore, as the volume up/down buttons appear to be used to control the volume programming of the Zen (as opposed to affecting the output signal strength in the line itself), that will definitely not work as there HD2 doesn't doesn't appear to have an ability to control it's volume software-side through the in-line remote. And even if it does, you're still depending on the fact that again, the Zen does those button-presses the same way.
Therefore...too many "if's", so likely it won't work.
mh, yeah think you're right.
so i think im gonna mod the original one.
DN41
This could be a better solution

thanks, looks really interesting

edit: watch out! thats an mini-usb to 3,5mm adapter with remote.
so it won't work with hd2...
i think if i'd be even a micro usb, it wouldnt work, cause i think the hd2 isnt able to play music over usb port, cause its got an 3,5mm audio jack.
Hello I was wondering if there is a way to get the headset on the HD7 to map to next\previous tracks rather than volume up\down (or indeed is there another headset on the market that does this).
I like to use my hd7 on the treadmill in the gym and if a song comes on I don't like I have no way to skip it (touchscreen isn't a viable option when running). I find it curious why MS chose vol up\down rather than previous\next track. I realise I can get an A2DP bluetooth headset to do this but I have had problems in the past with these with choppy/poor quality audio. So are there any wired options for me?
intressting question, i wish to know that also...

this is also my concern. been trying to figure it out for quite sometime now. haha!
anyway, i'm also using jabra halo which is i believe the best wireless stereo headset for my hd7. the sound is just amazing! same compliment that i get from other people who have tried this headset.
Hi Guys,
I bought an Itech clip from ebay, essentially it is a bluetooth reciever. You can plug in your favourite earphones/buds etc and have full controll over track skipping forward/backward, also vol up /down and the ability to answer you phone if it goes off.
Best thing is it clips wherever and can be upto around 15 feet away from the handset without signal loss (thats how far mine goes anyway)
I managed to get mine from Hong Kong (probably a copy) with delivery for a bargain price of £7.00 and it arrived in a week. Best buy
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/R36-Clip-Blue...e_Phones_Bluetooth_Acc_ET&hash=item1c170190c1 This sort of thing but there are differing types, just take a look.
Hope this helps,
Creamy
well i dont want a bluetooth headset, and i shouldnt have to have one just to gain something so simple that every other phone manages to do.
double tapping the middle button on the headset works on iphone and android and i've even heard it works on other WP7 handsets from LG and Samsung so why not the HD7?
hope the next update fixes it !!
Hi,
I see the optimus 2X has the capability to use remote commands on the 3.5jack earphone cable (1 buton available on retail product to end call I think).
I want to know if there is any product like nokia's to control the music play via a small remote on the 3.5 jack ?
Like this :
http://cgi.ebay.fr/3-5mm-Stereo-Ear...717437?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19c3f3cdbd
or this :
http://cgi.ebay.fr/Handsfree-Headse...218750?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item56435ae8be
Thanks
up
I would also like to know. If anyone had a nokia/apple/htc phone before and still has the headphones, please plug them into your 2x and see if the music controls work. Please?
Well I have a HTC Hero and a pair of skullcandy earphones with a limited set of in-line controls. The earphones can control volume (not within the phone itself though) and it has a play/pause button. The ROM I used with my Hero also let me skip tracks by hitting the play/pause button twice very fast. I should receive my LG Optimus X2 tomorrow and will try it out then and post back my results.
Edit:
Well tried them out with no luck - the play/pause button would not work at all.
I tried on my lg with my old nokia earphones (this one http://cgi.ebay.fr/3-5mm-Stereo-Ear...717437?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19c3f3cdbd) but it donesn't work at all.
Maybe we could write a program to catch the i/o interrupts the headphone generates ?
And btw, the sound is crap behind the remote. SO I guess the phone has to know we use a remote to change the electrical output to make it working correctly?
Experienced the same trying the nokia remote-earphones from my old N82.
In-Line-Controls didn´t work at all and the sound was very bad, almost completely missing the bass and noisy.
Seems indeed either these Nokia-Pieces are somehow incompatible or the controls take some of the electric output away if the phone isn´t aware of them.
there are two types of TRRS pinouts thanks to Apple
Nokia type (10 years old) ->
Left-Right-Mic-Ground
Apple type (since 2007) ->
Left-Right-Ground-Mic
Who knows why Apple did this... they've basically split the industry. My Nexus One is Apple type, so I guess the real question now is if anyone knows to what extent HTC's (or Apple's) headphones work, especially the more recent headphones packaged with Desire/DesireHD/NexusOne/G2
So I think that would mean newer HTC's are probably all Apple type. I think the original Moto Droid is nokia type. It's kind of a cluster-f***
Also note that HTC HERO uses RC-E150 headphones while newer HTC headphones are model RC-E160. However, I have seen the RC-e150 sold as Nexus One compatible, so they are probably the same pinout.
If the LG 2X is Apple type, those skullcandy headphones will probably work.

I think it is apple type. however stock ROM does not support all of the commands the iphone does. so far i can use the following commands:
play/pause (oneClick)
next (doubleClick)
don't know about volume control.
i tried installing a different media player. bTunes does support previous (triple click) but it's buggy. so is next on the stock media player. i think it has to do with quality of the in-the-box-headphones. i will try to see if i have my old apple buds and check what those do.
@tonyschuite
Hi,
What earphones do you use ?
@bradsh1
Thanks for the infos
I'd be curious to know if Hero/Nexus One headphones work with forward/back track buttons.
So anyone got it working with a iphone remote control (since nokia's won't work and someone said nokia and iphone remotes are reversed) ?
Original works for me as the iphone tap twice and next song will be played

Forward & back don't work with the LG music player. The play/pause works as normal.

So it's more a software issue ?
I tried plug my o2x headphones on my nokia 5800, and it recognize it as an tv output cable. So yeah, the wire connections are reversed somewhere.
You think these king of earphones would work ?

PLEASE Every person that say "this or this works with my remote bla bla" PLEASE GIVE MODEL NUMBER / MANUFACTURER AND PICTURE !!
To these people with working headphones controls: could you please test, if another music player app can recieve more then one button? For example try Poweramp. (You can get a 2 weeks trial at the market.)
But take in mind: Poweramp stats that music controls listening must be disabled in other music Apps. So be sure to disable it in the stock or, if there is no option to do so, just disable it with Titanium.
Works perfectily in poweramp both with original headphones and creative 630i
Will check with multibutton remote

Great. I'm waiting for your results. If this works, I will buy one too.
Please tell me which headphone set are you talking about when you say "original headphone" ? The one included with p990 bundle ?
What do you mean by "works perfectly" ? Play / pause ? Volume ? Next track, previous track ?
Etc.
Thanks
I see there are few threads with headsets with music player controls but I didnt see any thread about the question I have, so here it is.
I can break my requirements actually :
1. Headset with controls for internet radio (say Pandora) on your phone. I think all I am looking for is pause/skip track since volume will be default.
2. Pandora is widely used so there might be one, what about other lesser known radios (Indian music radios). Will this pause/skip track controls work with them? Or does the answer depends if these radios allows used to have controls through phone buttons?
3. I am looking for these on use on ski slopes for 8 hours so I am afraid that using bluetooth stuff might kill my Note 2 battery. Is that correct?
4. If 3. is correct, then I would need to find a wired headet with
- above mentioned internet radio controls
- capable of taking calls and without the need to take the phone out of pocket.
- Prefferably clip on/behind the neck style/Over the head types since my ears hurt with in-ear/earbuds.
- Bluetooth if its not going to kill my battery.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
From my experience, I can say, BT headset gives you more freedom in movement. The Note's battery can last about 16 hrs of bt streaming. It is the BT headset that needs to be recharged more often.
I use the Sony Smart Wireless Headset, wich last about 8 hrs. It has answer/end, skip, previous and play/pause button, wich works fine with the default music player and Kiescast.
In other players, such as Zplayer and or Ubermusic, only the skip and previous button works. Don;t know why that is.
The headset also has a micro SD an built in FM radio.

Thank you for the response. So at least I know now that bluetooth might be a way to go (if I can find behind the neck/Clip on design).
But as I mentioned I am not worried about "music plyaer" controls. I am wonderinf if there is any way to control Pause/Next track buttons on Internet radio apps on the phone. Does it depend from app to app?
Edit : Searching more for the solution, I found that there is an app called "Music Control" by Phoenix3200 that allows your to control Pandora and other radio apps with headphone controls. Is there anything equivalent for Android?
