It couldnt be easier
Download openZIO-clockworkmod-recovery-pack.zip
Extract to C:\
Run "m6000_setup.msi" in the CWM folder and Follow install.
**you may encounter software signature issues, just 'install software/driver anyway'.
Plug in your phone to USB, power down.
Boot to fastboot (Hold Send/End simultaneously til fastboot starts)
open a command prompt and navigate to the "CWM" directory
Code:
cd\
cd CWM
Fastboot boot into openzio_clockwork-recovery image
Code:
fastboot boot clockwork-recovery.img
Profit.
***You will Lose your Kyocera Logo once you RESTORE (due to the way cwm dumps the boot partition).
Please download the openZIO Boot Fix and install the zip with CWM.
This will flash the correct boot image and restore your Kyocera Logo.

I have edited this initial post because I have found a workaround to get clockwork recovery to load on the ZIO without wiping data/cache.
Unfortunately, until Koush gets the module fixed to run remotely from our phones, you will need to be connected to a PC, and know how to use Fastboot.
blah blah DISCLAIMER blah: I am not responsible IN ANY WAY for people screwing up/bricking their phones as a result of using this image.
....old method deleted by OP....
Thanks go out to Hotaru for compiling this recovery image, and obviously to Koush for making clockworkmod recovery.
Remember to hit the "Thanks" button if I helped you.
try downloading ROM Manager from the Market and then having it install the recovery.
Our phone isnt in the phone model list.
Install from sdcard prompts me to install clockworkmod recovery first.

isnt there a custom recovery option???? bet you can save that image from the page to the sd card and then run it through rom manager???
BTW I hate rom manager LOL.... I tryied to use it to format my sd card for link2sd.... and it tried to boot thephone into boot or recovery or something.... and ended up completely factory resetting my phone
hell I had even installed a handfull of apps before it happend LOL and my dumb ass didnt do a TI backup....

Well, we used fastboot to load it up.
Then used adb to tell it to boot into recovery. There was also some key combo I forget. It's all around page 30 or so of the 1.6 thread.
What do we need to do to make clockworkmod work?
Sent from my from my rooted 2.2 no bloat Zio using XDA App
I'd suggest that we all send an email to koush at clockworkmod asking for support.
I'm working on building a compatible version, but I'm running into all sorts of build issues.

Those images generally need to be flashed through fastboot, and fastboot might not even work depending on the bootloader.
you need the sdk installed first, and adb working and added to your $path.
after that
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /path/to/recovery.img
obviously, replace path/to/recoery with the actual path that you downloaded the file to.
That revocery image (I found out) is for the 1.6 OS.
Being as we have 2.2 and an updated kernel: would this recovery still work?
Guess I'll be the guinea pig for this afternoon. o.0
edit:
adb reboot bootloader is for our modem download mode.
To access fastboot, we just power down, then hold the power/end and send key simultaneously.
recovery only cares about the hardware, not the os or kernel, thats why you use it to flash custom roms and kernels. It boots before anything else is loaded.

It doesn't meant it lol. I has been released several days ago (about week ago).
It does mean that Mur4ik is syncing and compiling CM7 code while "on a break" - this recovery was posted on 2nd April. I'd say that's pretty positive

Sounds like you don't have fastboot. What ROM do you have flashed on your phone? Is it a stock Android version 1.6, 2.1 or do you have a custom ROM 2.1, 2.2 or 2.3? You need a custom ROM with fastboot mode enabled - an explanation of this is beyond the scope of this thread. Try this thread to flash a 2.1 ROM with fastboot enabled. Sorry to be brief but there are tutorials on flashing recovery images and this thread is really just a newsflash for a new release... HTH
I have stock rom 2.1. I did not flash anything yet exept root.

If you have a stock rom you can't flash recovery because you don't have fastboot.

You CAN flash recovery with a non-fastboot enabled ROM. Here's the tutorial:
JackG from MoDaCo said:
Yes there is, make sure you have the fastboot rom flashed and you are rooted, and download something called "flash_image" (from the attachments below) and put it in the root of your SD Card, get your recovery image in the root of the card too.
Then, download Terminal Emulator from the market when it opens press the menu button and select "Toggle Soft Keyboard" when the keyboard comes up type in
CODE
su
cd /sdcard
chmod 755 flash_image
./flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
(Change the recovery.img to the name of your recovery image eg. recovery_clockwork_2.5.1.8_swift.img or recovery_clockwork_2.5.0.5_swift.img)
Then, reboot the phone, and hold down the Menu+Power and you should be welcomed with the Clockwork menu.

Hi, can i check whether how do i install clockworkmod Recovery mode into my GT540? I'm in stock 1.6 now.
Nothing special here. I just noticed that no one is offering CWM Recovery as flashable zip file.
Since there are some users that are not familiar with the Fastboot or Flash_image commands, I asked myself is it possible to flash the CWM Recovery from Recovery.
I know that this is possible on other devices, so I tried this on my Nexus S - and it works!
Installation:
Download the zip file, put it on your SDCard and flash it in the Recovery.
If you are on stock Android Recovery, read the second post.
CAUTION: This is only for Nexus S, not for Nexus S 4G.
But since there are some hotheads that don't listen, I've integrated a verification that looks for Nexus S - Crespo. If you are on Crespo4G, its gonna cancel the installation.

So am i correct that this could now be the simplest root method? Just download and flash the zip from 2nd post in Android Recovery, then use the new CWM recovery to flash SU?

Well, yes. We just need someone to test it.
EDIT: You don't even need to flash the CWM second time. But, I think that the secure boot image might be a problem. Other wise, I could make a Flashable zip for unsecure boot img. To root, you'll need to flash: 1). Recovery remover, 2). Unsecure boot.img, 3). CWM and then 4). SU.
But everything can be done from Recovery, except for unlocking the bootloader. This needs to be done with Fastboot.

It removes the stock recovery and reloads the CWM immediately. BUT, you need to install instantly the new Recovery, like the one from the OP.
Otherwise, after reboot you end up in stock recovery.

KERNEL VERSION=2.6.27-00392-G8312BAF
BUILD NUMBER=DREAM_DEVPHONE-USERDEBUG 1.5 CRB2114201 TEST-KEY
then you are already rooted, that is a developers phone which is pre rooted. you need to load a custom recovery (amonra is best in my opinion) and should also upgrade you radio and spl, google cyanogen wiki root dream, in that guide you will see a link for amonra, downloaded to sdcard, rename it recovery.img
now download a terminal emulator from the market, open it and type
flash_image recovery/sdcard/recovery.img
wait a few seconds then reboot to recovery
if that works then you can move on from there

S-Off means you have full access to your phone and can flash custom recoveries and ROMs.
If you don't understand something then I suggest you start searching and reading to gain knowledge and understanding instead of simply asking for links.

No you cannot use Odin on a HTC. In order to get adb to work, you need to have the HTC drivers installed which is probably your issue.
There is a way to flash a custom recovery from the Bootloader using a PGIMG32.zip file on the sd card so that is an option that you could search for.

So here you go if at all you have been thru basics -- see if this works (Of Course this is with the fastboot) if you want it this way on second thoughts...
Install HTC Sync, then uninstall it ( you would only want the drivers)
Download Super User - downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
Download Clockwork Recovery - download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivo.img
- On your C: drive, create an Android folder
- copy ClockWorkMod recovery and put it in C:/Android
- Put Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip at the root of your SD card
- Put the ADB (fastboot) files in C:/Android
- your files should be as
1 adb.exe
2 AdbWinApi.dll
3 fastboot.exe
Open cmd on your pc/laptop - bring it to C:/Android
You can now type just after the C:/android :
fastboot flash recovery recovery_name.img
Now here it is -
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivo.img
Now install your supeuser - If its required (hope not in your case)
From the bootloader screen, highlight "recovery" and press the power button. The HTC screen comes up for a while, then you're on the ClockWorkMod Interface.
- Volume down to select "install zip from sdcard".
- "choose zip from sdcard"
- Select the SuperUser zip you put on your SD (Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip)
- Reboot your phone.
Check if the above suffice..
