I was running Athena pretty successfully - bu I was having problems installing updates form the market. So, I decided to instal MYN 2.2 -unsucccessfully.
So, after backing up both my phone & SD card to my PC - I installed Skyraider 3.5 Sense. Now, it works OK with what it comes with
BUT - - - Market won't install any ather apps or updates AND when I USB my phone to my PC - the computer sees the drivrs but asks me to "please insert a disk" in order to access.
Any advise will be thanked heartily.
First of all this should be in GENERAL or Q&A not DEVELOPMENT.
Have you been wiping data? Also what went wrong when flashing Myn's 2.2?

(That should be DRC83, I *swore* I changed that)
I successfully rooted my phone following the tutorial, although at some points I took a vague leap of faith; there are some very minor things that are not included in the tutorial. I suspect part of this is to rule out people (like me) who have zero *nix experience, but it can be alarming.
I was unable to get the most recent (as of today) Cyanogen mod to work (1), so I downloaded DRC83. (I do still have root).
I *have* searched the forum, and I have searched Google. My problem is that a great deal of what I'm finding is dated, requires hardware I don't have (a machine running *nix) or software I don't have [Cyanogen, crutch lite (which is no longer on the market)].
When I try to get into console mode, it doesn't work. (2)
Is there any way for me to run my apps from my SD card using a Windows machine and DRC83? I've gotten to the point now where I no longer trust my searching abilities.
I have:
T-mobile G1 bronze
A new 8 GB class 6 MicroSD card
AppManager (not Apps2SD? Where is this program?)
Build DRC83
sdparted.txt (on the MicroSD)
Kernel: 2.6.29-00479-g3c7df37 [email protected] #19
Windows OSs on desktops
A MicroSD reader (so I can theoretically do anything except booting the phone from the PC)
(1) - When I downloaded/installed this build, it would just stay on the G1 screen.
(2) - I can successfully power on the phone holding the home and power, but then I just get the exclamation point. Holding alt-x or tapping them and hitting return isn't doing anything.
The guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535232 references Cyanogen 4.0.2 which isn't even at that link.
I apologize, I know y'all go over this all the time, but I really did search and my google-fu is failing me.
not sure i fully understand ur problem but if u have cm 1.4 recovery or amon ra recovery (do u?) u should just follow this guide http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Upgrading_From_Older_CyanogenMod_or_other_rooted_ROMs
u shud be good to go afterwards. hope this helps at all
Depending on what guide you followed it should be step by step. This is the best guide out. http://androidoverdrive.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=7. And as long as your card is partitioned then apps2sd is automatic and you don't have to do anything.
I tried that, and it worked really well, but I just can't get Cyanogen to run on my phone for some reason.
I got all the way through flashing that image, but all that happens after that is the screen goes black.
Thanks, though.
:-/
Anyone else have any ideas how I can run my apps from my SD without running a ROM that just won't run on my phone for some reason?
Hate to break it to you, but Cyanogen's ROM is *not* the only ROM that supports Apps2SD. Almost all the ROMs you'll find the in the development section support loading apps from the ext partition by default. If Cyan's ROM doesn't work, have a look at Dwangs or Enomthers.
The ext partition can be created any way you like, using Amon RA's recovery, or on your PC using Paragon Partition Manager (although I'd highly recommend gparted from a live Ubuntu CD).
AdrianK: thank you; I will try that!
Everyone else: I did eventually get Cyanogen's newest mod to work. I swear I ran through the set-up like six times. >.<
Like I said, I finally decided to take the plunge after running it exclusively on my sd for over a year, and now usb connectivity isn't working. Before all I had to do was install sd split widget, hit it and wait for aboug,t 20 minutes the first time, then each one after that was only about 1 minute.
Anyway, I flashed to scooter's cyanogen, but I was having issues with the lcd density(I use 320x480 for swype, and he didn't include roguetools, and I have no data and I couldn't connect to my computer to transfer it over, so I could not use it), so I flashed to super froyo rls16. I had been using it on SD so I was familiar with it. I installed it fine, used Titanium to restore all my apps and stuff, but when I went to hook it up to my computer to transfer some apps, I couldn't get it to connect. I have left it in split activated mode for 2+ hours and still nothing.
Some things to note
In both scooter's and superfroyo, I get a message from windows saying if you use a 2.0 usb port then it can perform faster.
I have tried the built in share files functionality in superfroyo and it just sits there for as long as I let it
I've tried different USB ports
I've tried uninstalling windows drives and reinstalling
I'm using windows 7 x64
Like I said, while running on SD, I had no issues with this stuff at all.
Its not urgent, thanks to titanium, I got all my apps and data back the way they were, but since I have no data and MMS doesn't work for verizon/android/vogue, now I have no way of transferring files or pictures on this phone.
Thanks for reading this all and a special thanks to all the devs who got me to this point.

Download the latest 2.6.25 kernel from there - 10/31/10
Works fine on USB 2.0 mode for my Touch
Same thing happened to me. My theory is that Windows looked for a driver and it installed one that won't let you use your phone as a mass storage device. Try using a different computer and see if it has the same affect.
And the 2.6.25 kernel is not compatible with Scooters Cyanogen Mod.

I had the same problems with both kernels (.25 or .32).
I use the Dual Mount SD widget.
Did you install the ADB drivers?

Yea I installed the ADB Drivers. Thing is Ubuntu and Mac OS X detect it fine with no problems and instantly at that. Silly Windows trying to find drivers.
But it also didn't work on my brothers netbook with XP and it didn't have the ADB drivers
I'm using the latest .32 kernal.
And I'm using ADB drivers with the dual mount widget.
Hi to all...
I have a big problem
I have a N1 with froyo 2.2.1
radio rom 05.12.00.08
build frg83D
And I cant' recieve OTA because it said that my version is upgraded....
But this is not the main problem...
I've root the mobile with SuperOneClickRoot and everythings goes fine, I have the icon in the launcher and I have the phone rooted...
I've tried to flash the recovery of amon Ra with the terminal app, and it said that flash_image not found...
So I've tried the ROM Manager and I've installed clockwork...when the yellow status bar finisch it gave me and error that some command cannot be executed with high privileges (or without high privileges I didn't remember the error was in italian language)...
What I have to do? I'm stuck with this phone...maybe rooted but it seems that anythings works on it
Please...
Thanks in advance
EDIT:
Please read THIS for the updated questions
Thanks

Interesting.. It's not found? Did you also where did you put the file and what was the command you did? Also.. what instructions did you follow? I'm assuming you typed in "su" as well right?
Try either fixing permissions via ROM Manager, or installing busybox through the Titanium problems menu...
Maybe it's because I've root the phone without installing the SDK but only the driver for nexus?
when I root I see that all adroid driver for windows was installed except the one of nexus...
Can I install SDK and then root again?
Of course it won't allow you to use flash_image - you don't have the executable on your phone.
Please read the proper manual in Wiki under "Installing Recovery image" (link in my signature), and follow the manual step by step.
Just because you have superuser in the app draw does not mean you're rooted.

New question
I've found out that the problem was that ROM Manager doesn't have the root privileges -.-
So I've installed amonra and cyanogen...
everything is good but I have a really BIG problem
The phone sometimes goes to "only emergency call" also if there are strong signal, maybe it's the Radio? can I re-install it? or can be the sim-card?
Sometime it happen when the phone is for long time stand-by some time random...it's pretty annoying
I've installed Cyanogen mod, the phone is already rooted?
how can I import windows contact to android?
There is a way to config the app I want that can notify me?
Can I install app directly on SD instead of trasfert it after they are installed on the phone memory?
Thanks in advace
1. It's not a radio.
2. Yes.
3. Google can answer that with 1000 guides.
4. Only in the app itself. There is no external control over notifications.
5. There's an option for that in CM. I don't suggest using it or transferring apps to SD that weren't meant to go to SD - since the next question you'll come with would most probably be "Why are my apps/widgets disappearing".
ahahah LOL
thanks, but I didn't understand well the point 5 about the app to sd (why some peole talk about App2SD???)
And if it is not the radio what is it???
There are several options for moving apps to SD. In CM7 they use the default option, existing since Froyo days. This default option has several limitations that you need to know before using it - I wrote them.
The other way is partitioning the SD card, adding another partition to it, and running a special set of system scripts that moves all the apps by default to that partition.
Please read FAQ, question 13, and the thread that it links to.
If it's not radio - it can be your SIM, it can be your signal, it can be your phone, or anything else. The radio is just a SW build, and it works.
Hi all, maybe someone can help me with my predicament. I attempted to root my nook color using CM7 with the newest nightly, gapps, and clockworkmod. the first attempt did not go well, so i abandoned the task and am happily running CM7 and gapps from my SD card. it works great with only a few kinks.
problem is, after i botched the rooting process and installing to the hard drive the first time, i had to revert my nook back to stock, which i did successfully using the 1.0.1 restore file. i had read that as soon as i booted up the stock nook system it would prompt me to do a system update. this never happened. so i went to the B&N website and manually downloaded the 1.0.3 file and decided to drag it over after syncing the nook with the USB. i plugged the nook into my PC and it recognized it and started trying to install drivers. midway through this process it errored and stopped. the nook disk drives were nowhere to be found in My Computer. i can see them if viewing device manager and even went through the process of clicking on "update drivers" but then it tells me i have the most up to date software.
so my question is, how do i get my computer to recognize my nook so that i can update it, or if not, how can i update it to 1.0.3 without having to USB sync it to the PC?
Restore 1.0.3, reboot and then leave the Nook running and connected to wifi. It will eventually update on it's own after it syncs.
Hi all,
I've just updated my phone to Cyanogen 7.1 stable, the phone is now smooth and functional so I'm happy with it, even though there are some small problems.
One of which is that I cannot download Tegra games anymore, the market tells me "your device is not compatible" and blocks me from downloading the app, the weird thing is that if I go to the market from my pc it tells me that my phone is compatible with the app!
This happens for ALL the Tegra specific games, like "Galaxy on Fire", "Bang Bang Racing", "Pinball HD for Tegra" and so on. I bought two of them before the update, so I'm pissed off by not being able to play them
Any idea on how to solve this issue?
Hi.
First of all I'm not quite answering your question because I don't know.
BUT, I recommend you install a CM 7.2 Kang build instead - they are better than stable with many many fixes. I don't know if that issue is fixed there or not though. Many more people are currently (here on xda) running the Kangs than base CM 7.1 so more will be able to help I believe (unless this is a known issue, I don't know simply because I never bothered with Tegra stuff on my phone).
I use temasek's build of Kang from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421425 .
// Stefan
Uhm... My problem is that one of the problems that I've got is that I cannot connect my phone to the pc via usb so I find it very hard to update my phone now as here I don't have a card reader to put a rom on the micro sd!
Thank you for the hint however, as soon as I'll solve these problems I'll definitely try that build!
Hi.
That is indeed a problem but you should be able to put the file on a webserver somewhere and download it using your phone, then copy it to the SD.
// Stefan
However cwm allows to mount usb storage under "mounts and storage" and you can insert your rom into internal sd and flash from it
Happened to me a few times on the CM7 Kang, tegra games showed "not compatible" from the phones android market. But after i browsed the Android Market from my PC (with my google account signed in) i could just click Install from the webpage and it pushed the installation to my phone.
Short version : phone market shows not compatible, PC market allows you to install.
if you don't have a usb cable or it's hard to connect your phone to the PC, just use DropBox and send files from your pc to your phone over WiFi. There are also other easy solutions like phone in WiFi FTP server and you just upload files to it. But again, if you don't have a usb cable, you need a WiFi network or good data plan
Oh, thanks guys, but I solved my "problem"... I had an old version of the drivers installed Now I can connect the phone through usb
For the game... I'll try the "install" via my pc...
Oh, I was nearly forgetting... the weird thing that I noticed is that in the settings menu the processor is "ARMv7 rev 0(v7I)" but the phone is equipped with a Cortex A9... maybe that is the problem?
ARM V7 and Cortex A9 are not the same thing i'd recommend you check you pages 6-9 http://www.nvidia.com/docs/IO/90715/Tegra_Multiprocessor_Architecture_white_paper_Final_v1.1.pdf. That really cleared up a lot of stuff for me
eh, I know
So that can actually be the problem! But I guess it's only a matter of naming, because tegra games play properly, if they were using the ARM7... I don't even want to think about it!
btw, the "download through the website" worked! thank you!
