USB connection & disconnection via phone possible? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When the phone is connected by using the usb cable if I need anything thing on phone I need to press home key which disconnects it from the computer (may be some logical reason) then is there a way to reconnect it back to the computer via pressing some key of any app to do it.
As of now I have to physically unplug then replug the usb cable, in my old motorola this has never been a case it never disconnects the phone if i use the phone I can do all calling & receiving & still remain connected to usb.
Any solution with samsung GT-I9003 new phone?

USB connect/disconnect from the phone itself..possible?

I connect the phone in a normal way to PC & when I need some thing on the phone & press the home key usb connection gets lost (no problems yet) but to connect again I have unplug & then plug it again, which I find foolish that there no other smart way to connect this smart phone back to usb via pressing a button.
Is it possible to connect the phone to usb via pressing some key? may be I am dumb & don't know if that's possible.
My phone connect in USB mass storage mode to PC .
Press home button to access phone.
Finished use pull down bar at the top USB icon.
phone is still connected via USB .
jje
Thanks
I changed the usb setting to connect in USB mass storage mode but i am facing a very slow usb connection it takes over 5 mins to show the phone connected, may be some driver issue (it connects instantly in kies mode)
Now I can use the home screen & it does remain connected.
So I assume kies connection locks the phone & there is no way I can use the home screen at that time & would have to unplug & replug it.

[Q] phone freezes when I disconnect an UTG device

Hello, I'm having an issue with my phone... it freezes and I have to remove the battery to make it reboot whenever I disconnect a USB mouse or keyboard. Moreover I'm unable to use a usb hub (which I know is possible with this phone) that would allow me to connect both together, I was planning to use them simultaneously to take notes but it's unreliable with the phone freezing, and when i use the hub the mouse powers on for2 secs, the led turns on but then turns off and the pointer doesn't appear at all, same with the keyboard (when connected into the hub) by the way my usb hub is exactly this one [well I did try to post a youtube video showing it working, unfortunatelly this is my first post= no right] , but I tried two other hubs with no result , I'm using the original Samsung host cable
kernel: Siyah 2.6.9
tried it with roms: stock, checkrom v 6, latest baptista foxhound
I used both cable and wireless mouse/keayboard (with receiver plugged into usb host, not bluetooth) but I could never get more than one device working and once i disconnect it the phone freezes.
I would be grateful for any advice.

[Q] Plug USB to charge w/out connecting data

Sorry if this was discussed already, but I wasn't able to find an answer: is it possible to disable data connection when USB is plugged in, and just use it to recharge your phone? I just want to avoid connecting my phone to an insecure PC when I just need that PC as a power source...
Yuhuuu... is there anybody there...?

HTC One USB problems

Whenever I connect my HTC One device to my computer via USB, sometimes my PC recognizes it. At other times, however, the USB connection disconnects. It's as if there is a loose connection between the cable and HTC One device. Is there a way to fix this? Or should I replace the cable?

Might be a cable, or it might be an issue with the USB port itself. Not that the USB port is faulty, mind you, just simply that the phone doesn't "like" it. For instance, if I plug my phone using OEM/non-OEM cables into a blue USB3.0 port in the back of my motherboard, I can't use fastboot/ADB commands. However, if I plug it into a pink USB port(supposed to be used by my keyboard/mouse), then there's no problems.

I can't get my phone to connect or charge from any computer.

So I seem to have a very weird issue with the USB connection on my Sony Xperia XZ2 running Android 8.0.0 with the build version 51.1.A.11.51. It refuses to connect or charge on almost any computer. The phone doesn't seem to recognize that it's connected to a computer. The computer doesn't see that my phone is connected either. I tried different USB ports, different computers, and different cables and they all won't connect to the phone. The exception is my laptop, which has a dedicated fast-charging port. When I connect my phone to that port, the phone charges, but it doesn't recognize that it's connected to my laptop and the laptop doesn't see a device connected either. Enabling ADB on my phone doesn't seem to do anything.
The strange thing is that almost all other USB functionality works fine on my phone. The phone charges fine from both a normal power brick and a fast charging brick. Both analog and digital based audio adapter dongles works perfectly fine too. USB based Android Auto does not seem to work, but it still charges the phone when I connect my phone to the car.
I also noticed that if I plug my phone into a computer while the phone is off, it would briefly wake up to the Sony logo and have the charging light come on for a few seconds until the screen changes to the battery percentage. Booting up my phone while plugged in doesn't seem to fix the issue.
The bootloader is locked and it has the stock recovery, so I don't think fastboot works (but I'm willing to try if it fixes the issue).
I've already tried spraying electrical contact cleaner into the USB port and also tried cleaning the port with a small plastic zip tie. I don't know how long my phone has been like that since it's been over a month since I last connected it to my computer. I don't know anything else I could do besides resetting the firmware, doing a firmware update, or sending in my phone to Sony for repairs. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm willing to try it.
