I am looking for a app or widget that will turn on or off my caller id.
I would perfer a app that would show my caller id only to my contacts but i dont know if that is possible.
Anyone have any ideas?
Well I think caller ID is on the provider side of things. I guess you could dial *67 before every number you dial that is not a contact to hide your caller ID. It's what I do with my work phone when I don't want people calling me back lol
I don't recall the names, but there are apps that allow you to pre/post pend to a dialed number before the call goes out. Some of them have a rich rule set also.
Tasker may be able to do it.
Under settings then Call Settings then All calls then "Show my number" you can select "send / Hide / By network"
A app that with one push i can toggle "Send" or "Hide" the caller id is what i am looking for.
Any help anyone

Hi,
I cannot find the option to turn on the feature, that the name of the caller is displayed, when it is in the phonebook. Right now, only the international number is shown whe somebody calls. What do I have to configure? Thx.

No ideas ??????
WM5 onwards it is already there.
You have to feed the number for each contact as +<country code><areacode><Number>. For example +919896312345
Guys do not get upset with me. I've been trying to find this but I was not able to locate it.
When I make a call is there any way not to show my number to the other party?
I'm sure there is a simple answer but I cannot find it
Thanks for the help

So is there no tweak that I can do so I do not have to dial al the time *67 ???
Dial *67 before dialing the phone number.
More info about the various *codes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_service_code
You should keep in mind, that even if you use *67 (block your caller ID) before placing the call, the person you called may be able to dial *69 which will redial you. It won't give out your number, but many networks still allow the callback itself to occur.
The long and short of it is that you'll either (1) answer their return call, or (2) their call will go to your voice mail. Either way it turns out, the person you called will probably figure "things" out pretty quickly.
Start, Settings, Phone, Services tab, highlight Caller ID, click Get Settings, Change Radio Button to *No one*

that's the best way...or set your caller id in the same place to my contacts only.
I have Google Voice on my G1, and I'm wondering if there is a way to use a different ringtone for incoming calls on my Google Voice number than from my regular phone number. I've looked around the options but can't find anything as of yet.
Am I missing something and the option is sitting there right in front of my face, or is it just not implemented yet to be able to change the ringtone?

Add your Google Voice number as a contact (I starred mine).
Then assign that contact a different ring tone.
done!

It still didn't work for me :/
The Google Voice number does not call my phone, it simply forwards the calls to my number when people call my GV number. So, say I call my GV number with my house phone, my G1 would display the incoming number as my house number and not change the ringtone to the GV one.

What you need to go is go to settings on GV and change "Caller Id" to display my gv number. That way you get free calls i mean your gv will be calling you. But make sure to put on call screening.

Thank you, that worked. Guess it was a GV issue and not a G1 issue, my bad.
Do you know who is calling you then when someone calls your gvoice number?
You would only know who is calling if you setup GV call screening, so the caller has to announce their name, and you press '1' to accept the call.
With GV passing through the original CID, I don't believe there is any way to set a different ringtone, as your phone isn't going to know the difference. If you use the third party GrooveIP, to send the GV call over IP instead of voice, there may be some other options.

How exactly do I get to the settings of GV to change the Caller ID? I cannot figure out where that setting is. Google again has a great service, but very poor direction or obscure directions on how to implement features. Please help me. Thank you very much.
Hi
I am looking for a solution to quickly change if I want my caller id to be shown on outgoing calls.
I know there is the gsm command #31# but this doesn't work with international numbers nad sometimes even not with local numbers.
I know there is a setting in "settings" but this is quite a hassle always going through several pages of settings.
My anycut doesn'T work on Android 1.6 anymore.
So anyone has an idea for a shortcut or a widget to show and not show the caller id on outgoing calls?
Thanx
is there a way to see names in incoming calls instead of numbers?
(or what is the necessary tweak)
If you have the number stored as a contact (with a name), then it should show when they call.
But if you want your phone to display the caller's Call Display name, I think that is something your carrier controls.
On my carrier (Rogers in Canada) I have the Call Display name enabled (which causes a little problem for me, as I am running Mexican radio - callers that have a Call Display name always show up as "Pay Phone"). I have to call Rogers to get that feature disabled.

it's 'should'........but it does not happen.....
What do you have in Settings -> Call Settings, then scroll down to Additional Settings. Do you have a caller ID option there?
