Bump, is everybody happy with stock fonts?
No font suggestions for this app?
I'd love Nokia Pure, the Windows Phone 7 fonts, the font included with Windows 7 (Segoe UI, the thin one) or any other thin and sans-serif font.
I'd suggest these two
Segoe Windows Phone:

Nokia Pure:

Version 2 Released!
New apk added guys, Nokia Pure, Windows Phone 7 and Ubuntu regular fonts included.
I must admit, they all look very good.
I'll make an update.zip for this later in the day to simplify the installation procedure.
Is that my 2X or there is no bold font? Tried Ubuntu and Win7 fonts and looks like there is no bold font (or at least K9 and Gmail are unable to show bold text).
Any clue?

No, they don't contain a bold typeface, in fact I think DroidSans is the only one that does (could be wrong on that).
I'm not that comfortable using adb shell commands but do have Root Explorer. I understand Steps 1 to 7 and how to do this using Root Explorer but not quite certain what needs to be in Step 8. Would anyone be kind enough to run me through getting Step 8 to work using Root Explorer? Thanks!

Just delete the entire "com.jungle.app.fonts" directory from /data/data/ then reboot.

Any good reason for not including bold for other fonts?
That would be nice.
Btw, thank you!

Thanks! This worked perfectly.
Sure, delete folder /data/data/com.jungle.app.fonts/ and all of it's content
Be sure you're deleting the right folder!
Edit: sorry, didn't notice that it has already been answered

Yep, its a limitation of the LG app, and Android in general, only the primary font can be changed with this app and if the system recognises that the new font doesn't match the system bold font (DroidSans) it ignores the bold.
You can put you own in /system/fonts/ if you like, rename them of course and backup first. Set DroidSans in my app to use those fonts.

Not sure of this is the right thread, but here it goes...
There is a font that is packed in with the Market that I am able to use in ChompSMS. It found it when I did a scan for font packs. It came up as 'Market' under the package, and the font name is Storopia.
I was wondering if there is a way to get this font to use for other purposes? And I was also wondering if there is a way to change the font myself in a custom ROM I have installed on my G1.
Would appreciate any help I could get!
Thanks!
this is a screenshot of the font working in ChompSMS thanks to the apps ability to use font packs. Again, ChompSMS found this font in the Market folder somewhere. I want to use it throughout my phone but do not know how to find this font to extract it to where I need to put it.
The font is called Storopia. I guess I should also add that it is the font used for the big words in the Android Market at the top of the screen. For instance, when you first open the Android Market, up top next to the shopping bag, where it says android market, market is done in the Storopia font. Same for apps, games, and downloads when you click on those tabs.
Can someone please help me find this font??

i know that fonts go in /system/fonts/ .. i have a whole folder of fonts in /sdcard/fonts/ and switch them up via recovery terminal whenever i feel like
awesome, thanks for that! now, how do you switch them up using recovery terminal? and do you know how i could get the Storopia font from the Market app?

well the way i do it is that inside /sdcard/fonts/ i have the fonts in separate subfolders
then in recovery console i do:
Code:
mount sdcard
mount system
cp /sdcard/fonts/NAME_OF_FONT/* /system/fonts/
umount sdcard
umount system
reboot
i also have the original fonts in a folder in case i ever want to revert .. you can do this is in a regular terminal
Code:
cd /sdcard/fonts
mkdir orig
cp /system/fonts/* /sdcard/fonts/orig/
and then to revert the font to orig in recovery terminal you just use the code above with 'orig' in place of 'NAME_OF_FONT'

In recovery:
mount /sdcard
cp /sdcard/fonts/nameoffont/* /system/font
As for pulling a font from an apk you downloaded from the market, could be tricky. Also there are six different True Type fonts in /system/fonts which might not match what's in the font pack anyway...
Thank you so much you guys! I have got my font changed. It isn't the font that I was looking for, but I found one online that is really close to it. Thanks for the tip also about having the fonts in multiple folders of the font file. I didn't think about that.

Would you like to share that font with the class, or at least the name of the font?
Because I have been looking for that font for a few days now, and it's driving me nuts that I can't find it.. ^^
The font that i'm talking about is this one.
also seen on http://www.android.com
Realy like that font, but it seems that I can't find it >.<
How to create custom font packs
Hi,
Does anyone know how can i create a font pack?
I want to package some fonts to use from chompsms,
any idea how do i package fonts, and make them available to chompsms?
I don't have a root access and can't just put fonts in /system/fonts.
Found how to create a font pack
In case anyone wonders, it's as simple as creating an empty android application,
with no activities, and just add fonts under assets/fonts folder.
And that's it. Package and use.
Here is Android Scribble 2.0

(Thanks to Jerry43812!)
1. Download the ZIP of the boot animation you would like to apply to your phone.
* For the first boot animation (with green flare, do not unzip the file. Just move it to your tools folder.
* For the second or third boot animations, please unzip the file you download from here, resulting with a folder with another ZIP - inside, called bootanimation.zip. Please move that bootanimation.zip to your Android-(SDK)-Tool-Folder
2. Open up a command prompt, and head into your local tools folder.
cd C:\Android\tools
Click to collapse
(Or whatever folder you choosed for Android Tools)
3. Now, enter the following commands, one line at a time.
adb remount
adb mv
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot
Click to collapse
Now when your phone begins to reboot, it should be using the new boot animation you just applied to your phone. Note that if this does not work on your phone, please use the following commands:
cd C:\Android\tools
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/media/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot
Click to collapse
This block of commands will remove the bootanimation.zip file that we just wrote, hopefully leaving you with the old animation you had, before. I just tested all of these commands an they do indeed work, on my CDMA HTC Hero running RegawMod 2.1t.
For VillainRom 10.3.x Users:
You have to push it to /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip to make it work!
---------------------------
One IMPORTANT Thing:
I don't want anyone to mirror the animations or to post them in another Forum without my permission!!
I'll always keep them uploaded so you can download them here anytime!
[Reserved for later use]
I like a lot. I'm going to use, but I would like more without the last spotlight. Just for my taste,
Good job!!
I'm glad to hear you like it!

bonkasnucca, open the zip file and edit the desc.txt for the dimensions of the nexus, push it back to the phone and you'll have it f/s.
Sorry for the newb question. I'm new to HTC and Android OS (ex iPhone user never going back..hehe). Do I need to be rooted to install this? I'm currently rooted with Unrevoked. Any details on how to install would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm wondering this too. He means how could one go about making their own? I don't want a photoshop / after effects / fireworks or whatever tutorial. But what kind of file (animated gif / video?) and how to package it?
It looks great by the way, thanks!
There may be some people that look at the section for the Vibrant, but for those who don't, I have conjured a compilation of all the fonts that are completely compatible with our Captivates.
Just download the APK, and install; then go to Settings > Sound and Display > Font Styles, and select your installed one of your installed fonts. It'll reboot, and Voila new font!
Enjoy, and I claim no work over these files, all credit goes to the original posters.

Remember that you install the apk, select it, apply, then it'll reboot your phone, and it should load.
What're your specs?
What:
-rom
-mod
-fix
are you using?
Using the jh2 with the ext2 lag fix. Also using the circle battery mod, and market apps and side loading enabled.
I installed the fonts with the swm. I see all the fonts and I can select them, but they don't appear when the phone reboots. It does show that I'm on one of the new fonts, but the fine never changed.

I did some research, and some other users with some lagfixes experience problems.
When I find a fix, I'll let you know.
I have the same problem as well. I think I'm gonna try undoing the lagfix and then seeing if that will help
removing the lagfix enabled me to see font change.
Something is blocking the fonts from applying with the lagfix
I'm using the ext4 lagfix on JH2 and I can change fonts just fine.
Bump for an update.
Thanks to the OP for this btw.
thanks for this!!!
will try this soon. hopefully it won't conflict with my lag fix

Does anyone know how to keep the default font for the web browser? I love the brush font but, not for viewing webpages. I tried to find it on the Dolphin Browser but, had no such luck.
HELP?

I know this is probably a no, but is there any way to make the "HELVETICA NEUE 57 CONDENSED" font bigger? I love how it looks and how condensed it is, but the font is a bit too small for my eyes. Think I would have a hard time reading it constantly.
Thanks for this.

If you want to make it into an update.zip, I think more people would be able to try it. For some reason, the new SU doesn't play nice with metamorph on our phones
yes, i think it also...but i don'tknow hoe to make the update.zip!!!!
should see if one of our devs from vibrant/captivate would help you with that
Here is the flashable version for the Captivate with MediaProvider.apk icon added to match the skinned one:

installed nice and quick, but upon start up launcher pro fc'd. No custom icons either. Same with the system font. Only thing thats really different is the notifications bar. Used the update.zip method.
EDIT: Also the MediaProvider.apk is installed but won't launch and the system theme has not changed
any help would be appreciated because this theme looks awesome!
thanks

I tested this on mine and worked fine and about custom icons and custom fonts those aren't included on the metamorph theme he posted is just the notification bar, notifications icons and pulldown bar btw mediaprovider.apk is just an icon that scan media is not a launchable app so don't know what you mean.

New relase out!!!

Hey folks,
Today I played around with the SwiftKey apk and build my own ICS Theme. So far I have only tested it with my own phone and version (DHD with 200 DPI, SwiftKey X v2.2.0.121). Feel free to follow the short tutorial and enjoy the ICS experience.
Requirements:
Installed JDK
AutoSign (see attachments)
WinRAR or 7zip (untested)
SwiftKey X (tested with v2.2.0.121)
Steps:
Download the attachments
Pull the SwiftKey apk off your phone
Open the apk with WinRAR or 7zip
Copy the content of the "ICS Theme.zip" into the equivalent folders in the SwiftKey apk
Most of the files have to go into the "res" folder - Only "resources.arsc" has to go into the root folder!
Delete the "META-INF" folder inside the apk file
Sign the apk using AutoSign by copying it into the AutoSign folder and starting "sign.bat"
[*]Deinstall your previous version of SwiftKey X
Install new one
Change the theme inside the SwiftKey Properties
Enjoy, hit the thanks button and leave some feedback!
Changelog:
Code:
[B]SwiftKey X ICS Theme v1.1 (13 February 2012)[/B]
- [FIXED] Fonts
[B]SwiftKey X ICS Theme v1.0 (12 February 2012)[/B]
- Initial release
- HDPI only!
Works great thanks!

I'd add, don't delete the folders inside SwiftKey apk, just open archive each folder, then copy/paste the contents inside each one.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
wow, it's very cool
trying right away
Love it! Great work thanks alot!
Take note swiftkey team, we want this option soon as standard
Thanks been waiting for something like this.
Glad you guys like it.

Does the rest of your system look normal?
EDIT: I just realized that I've put the wrong fonts in the package. Sorry for the inconvenience, v1.1 uploaded...

you're the man
After installing I can see my app themed like the 1st screenshot you've posted. It's nicer than the stock one but I'd like to have SK themed like the SECOND screenshot you've posted or anyway you should use a darker gray far keys, much similar to the one in the stock Android keyboard... that will look cool!
This better matches the ICS gray. The other one is too Bright imho.
To improve this mod, I suggest you to ad a themed "dark theme" with ICS blue replacing the Gingerbread green.... That would be REALLY appreciated, something like this posted in the VIP forums of SK.
I'll try to make it myself and see what happens.
Anyway, you did a really good work!

The second screenshot shows the popup when long pressing a key, it's actually the same theme. If you like it a bit darker, just go ahead and change "default_btn_keyboard_key_normal_numbers.9.png" as well as "default_btn_keyboard_key_normal.9.png" to your taste. Don't forget signing the apk before you copy it to your phone!
EDIT: As for the actual "dark theme" you mentioned... I'll see what i can come up with tomorrow.

well, actually I tryed to modify some of the res files, but they lose the transparency of the background after being saved with photoshop never happened this before (transparency is lost even if not modifing the file and obviously saving in png format).
Thanks for the help!
Thanks for posting this, works great.
Wonder if the theming is possible for non-HDPI devices? I couldn't get the install to work on my Galaxy S2 LTE (sgh-i727r) so I'm guessing my phone isn't HDPI..
Was it difficult for you to dev this? I'm thinking about trying to make the theme possible for non-HDPI devices if it wasn't too too complicated.
