I wonder if there is a way to change my camera from portrait to landscape. Thats all I need. I believe sombody will answer me soon. THX
Uh, just rotate it 90° clockwise or counterclockwise. That seems to do the trick for me...
It doesnt work with this trick. If yes I wouldnt ask for help ;|
Well I sure dont know of a way to do it.
for my own personal intrest why would you want to do that in the first place?
I have a sony camera and that option is not given to me and it cost me as much as my BA, I can't phone with it (BUT DOES IT EVER TAKE BETTER SHOTS).
I just want to see what I am shooting at entire display. It can be cool, what u think
maybe the guys which are working on coolcamera app will make BA version of it and we will have a solution for your problem, but we will have to wait until then
I did a little joke about the question, because the wording was a bit ambiguous. What he wants is to make the image preview show up in fullscreen, in landscape mode. It might be possible with a different camera software, but I think the one used in our roms do not support it. Personally, I am fine with our camera, for me it would be weird to see the picture rotated 90° when taking shots. What I would like to see is a more finger-friendly touch interface for the camera...
The phone can change to landscape mode in browser and photo viewer when i rotate it. But i don't know how to change it in other application, any ideas??
I don't think you can without some other addon program.
go to settings, system, screen, and its there?
I have checked there is nothing related to screen orientation under screen setting

According to the guy at coolsmartphone, it only works in the photo and web browser apps.
He clearly said he can change it in browser and photos. His accelerometer is fine. What he wants to know is how to manually rotate the screen in apps that don't support the accelerometer.

And as i pointed out above, it doesnt work unless your in the photo browser or web browser applications.
Im pretty sure given time, just like the Nokia N95 8gb which has a built in accelerometer, someone will program an app that woudl allow you to rotate the screen no matter what application or program you are running. At the moment on my N95 8GB phone, i have a neat little program called rotateme that does that function.

The word manual is crucial here. Windows Mobile devices can have the screen rotated manually, in the settings. The accelerometer has nothing to do with that.
Wow what a mess...
Spawn12: My comment was directed at 'walshieau', not you. He suggested his accelerometer was broken.
Dark Fire: Yeah that option isn't there on the diamond. The guy one coolsmartphone tried to look for it in one of the videos. 'ngod' also can't see it. Thats why i said you'd need some third party hack/program to do it.

Wow...That's quite rare. I wonder if the relevant registry entries are still there, and working. If they are, that's good. If they aren't that's really random.

Just a guess, but maybe it freaked out their accelerometer/flor3d stuff so they just removed it. I'm sure the registry entries and API are still there to do it tho.

Yep your right, i updated mine a week ago and it does come with the rotate function built in...took them long enough to enable it lol.
ok an update, it ONLY works while you have opera browser open, and there is NO WAY to change it at the moment without an application doing it...

Yeah, I've been wondering for a while about what would happen in Opera and whatever else is affected by the accelerometer, if you had the Touch Diamond in landscape mode. Would everything rotate such that it would never be the right way up for you to read it?

yes it does, when closing Opera it reverts back...
AE Button Plus
AE button plus can do it when not in touchflo 3D . tested.
you can assign a hard button to rotate the screen.
ok i cant believe no one knows this but htc have disabled the screen rotation. has nothing to do with the g sensor. its disabled bc touchflo3d has been developed only for portrait and not landscape. other apps like the youtube app have also been designed for that. the manilla keyboard on the diamond has also been designed pretty much only for portrait. it just has a landscape qwerty layout.
its ment to be like the iphone where its portrait most of time. if you can overwrite the files within the windows folder im pretty sure u can bring it back. might be some registry too.
Hi all
Quick question from me. Is it possible to change the settings for the accelerometer in terms of sensitivity or time delay?? The reason i ask is that when using opera when i turn the phone to veiw it 'widescreen' the picture takes a good 8-10 seconds to flip change. Often i get bored of waiting so turn the phone ninety degrees again but as soon as i turn the handset portrait again the screen changes to landscape - quite annoying. I guess this may be down to slow response within the opera software??
any help would be much appreciated
Steve
I know this is an old thread, but I have the same problem with Opera and was not able to find a post regarding it. Anyone find a way to fix this speed?
Good post!! Please help
its a good question sitting on my mind for a few days...
I have another question about rotating..
is it possible to define that the window of sms will be automaticly turn to be on widescreen and locked?
So i can write sms only on wide screen without trying to make the screen rotate..

Don't know what you mean by locking the sms windows, but have a look at Gyrator for all your rotating needs
what i meant was...
that i hate writing in portrait mode (regular) because i have big fingers..
and since i dont like waiting minute or two till it rotates my screen...
It would be nice to have a window of sms and mail to be auto rotated to widescreen with no option to be on portrait mode.

I know what you meant and I also facing that problem too. I only need the landscape view when in SMS.
I did try on Gsen but don't know how to make it work. Maybe I should give a try to Gyrator.
Gsen is very simple
You just open the gsen config.
there you can define whatever you like.
better you just visit the thread of this app, its sticky..
there you can find all the explainations you need..
I have a solution for you, just was searching something similar and found this Gsen application. The BEST gsen for diamond Gsensor Utility (Flip_it) with landscape manila support, ThanX WildBerry Team
LINK FLIP IT
You can decide what application and how (0, 90, 180 or 270°)
I suggest you to install it
go to option:
1) Click on "add new application"
2) write tmail.exe
3) select 90° and 270°
and your sms will open only in landscape mode
bye bye
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that occassionally (and seemingly more and more frequently) pictures that I take with the camera are either incorrectly saved in the wrong orientation or are being displayed in both the TF3D tab and the HTC album in the wrong orientation.
In other words, in HTC Album, when I hold the phone in portrait mode, the picture shows in landscape and when I rotate the phone to landscape, it switches to upside-down portrait mode. It's like chasing your tail! Really frustrating! It also displays landscape pictures in portrait and vice-versa in the TF3D tab as you flip through the photos.
This doesn't happen with every picture, but I can't seem to figure out any pattern that would illuminate the cause of the problem.
Am I alone in this? (I have a Euro Diamond)
You Are Not Alone!!
I have been having the exact same problem, and its becoming more and more frequent!
It is fustrating tho because when you are holding the phone in a portrait position and you have a landscape picture, you instinctively try and the phone sideways to see the picture straight....but this just turns the picture so your looking at it the wrong way again!
Its weird how some pictures arent affected and some pictures which are taken right after the non affected pictures are affected!
try to make sure your device is fully upright, perpendicular to the floor. i have a feeling your g sensors are not calibrated and your devices are confused with odd angles. give 'er a try and post results
Yeah, I've experienced this too.
Are you guys using the Gsen app cos I'm wondering if it's that which is having an effect?
Just in case you don't know, you can edit them so they show the right way round using Pictures & Videos in Programs, just select the offending pic and select edit from the menu, then rotate and then just hit ok in the top right corner once you have it the way you want.
I have this problem and it is very annoying, I have the HTC 1.93 ROM and don't use GSen (at the moment). It would be great to find a solution to this problem.
I think this is just a major design flaw in the HTC picture viewer. It's one of the major reasons I use other software instead.
Having the g-sensor enabled in a photo application is just f*#&ing stupid IMO. It totally fails to handle the fact that people often rotate the camera when they take photos. Most people find it easier to rotate the viewer rather than mess about with image editing ... but when they try, the g-sensor f*#&s it up for them.
It's tragic and funny seeing my friend (who still uses the HTC software) having to bend his neck right the way over to view his own photos. And what is with the inability to change the sorting behavior?!!

I think this might be because when you're taking a picture, you should be holding the phone in landscape mode, when you take a picture in portrait mode your phone will rotate the picture like that.. i ALSO had that problem. try it and let me know
Are you using G-Sen?
If you have had G-Sen on then toggled it off, photos will be in the wrong orientation.
If you do a soft-reset without g-sen loaded, pictures are taken correctly.
Solution: if you are using g-sen, make sure it is toggled on before you take a pic.
That's what i found works for me anyway.
I have the exact same situation. But the photos weren't taken with the Diamond, and I have more than a hundred of those. They are, for the greatest part of it, taken in landscape mode and it thinks they are in portrait mode.
Is there a way to change their orientation massivly ? I mean it would take me a life to rotate them one by one.

Place a very large mass next to the diamond, in order to confuse it about which way is down.
It'll be much quicker to alter the orientation on your desktop pc - but it'll have to be a manual one-by-one job. AFAIK, there's no way to do it automatically because it's impossible for any software to know which way up each photo is supposed to be.
Or just use a better viewer without stupid g-sensor usage.
Edit: Another thought... if you change the orientation of some of your pictures (after taking them) then you'll find that they're out of order in the album because the time/date stamps have changed! 3rd party software really is the way to go! /rant
ok, it's been a month, i just found this thread. i have the touch pro but having the same problem. the htc is calibrated just fine. anyway to fix it? htc is so notorius for bugs, can't believe that one slipped.
any better touch oriented album viewer to replace the htc album app? also, would the camera app know to switch to other album prg or always insist of this damn buggy album prg ?
thanks
I was using ACV but I heard it was a big battery drain (And was making my NC feel a little warm) does anyone have a better suggestion?
I use the "Perfect Viewer" app. Just takes some practice memorizing the touch screen commands and it becomes very easy to use.
I second the recommendation for PV. And i tried a few others before settling.

Yup, PV is great. I tried ACV and it made my screen go dark and unresponsive. Didnt like it at all. Dose any one know if PV can rotate if I flip the screen/device?
Yes, PV can rotate automatically, but you have t change it in the preference menu.
After a couple if weeks i've really gotten the hang of the various touch options. it just might be my favorite thing to do with this

I used to use ACV, but am now using Perfect Viewer. It seems much snappier to me.
Hands down comic reader mobi. I literally bought the nook for this app.

Sorry if this is a silly question but were is PV's menu?
I've tried them all but JJ Comics Viewer worked best for me. I liked how it told me the page number at the bottom.
I didn't really like the onscreen touch stuff on Perfect Viewer and it didn't automatically go to the next .cbr file. Mobi didn't have pinch to zoom and was too expensive. JJ is quite fast and doesn't have as many problems with large files. Try it out.

Ill try jj tonight. The PV menu is invoked when viewing a photo. Use hit the menu key, with softkeys/button savior, and it will appear at the bottom as a whole set of options. Click the toolbox icon.
Includes option to jump to next cbr automatically.

Ok gotta give it up for jj comic. Does 2 things pv doesn't- zoom past full resolution and can crop white space

I've settled on the stock pdf reader for the NC. I have just taken all my cbz files, etc. and used Jomic to convert them all to pdf. None of the other other programs felt as comfortable, at least for me.

Yup, that did the trick, thanks. I also set it for Bicubic. So far I've only loaded one comic onto this thing but I can tell that when I have my whole library on here its gonna be sweet.
Can you explane what you mean by "zoom past full resolution"? Is that a good thing

Here's a question - how can I set the NC to open a PDF with the B&N Reader? If I open the file from the Library app, it opens with QuickPDF If I open the file using Astro I can read it using the B&N reader. I hate that I can't manage which file types open in each application as on a normal Android device. Any tips?

PV will zoom out (less than 100%) and use scaling algorithms like bicubic and averaging to make the image look smooth. But (to my knowledge) it will not zoom past 100%. The problem is that, when I use lanscape mode to view a row of comic panes, if the width of the image is less than 1024 pixels, it will not fit the width of the screen.
JJ will zoom in (greater than 100%) so it will fill the screen regardless of the resolution of the original.
I hope that helps.

I'm not questioning your choice, I'm just curious as to what was worse about "perfect viewer" or "jjcomic" that was better when using a pdf viewer. Because personally I find viewing comics on such a small screen requires maximum speed and flexibility in terms of zooming, rotating and page turning, and I've found the pdf viewers I've tried to be slow and inflexible.
If anyone watched me while reading a comic on this thing, they'd think I was a crazy person (rotate, pinch, tap, rotate back, doubletap).

Actually, as techy as that was, I got it. Made perfect sense. Thanks. I'll have to give it a try. I'm also intrigued by Mobi's supposed ability to pop out blocks of text but at this time I cant afford to try it. All my free money went to the Nook
