If its a pic just long press and save or view attachment. Might work.
Yea its me again with the
Modified Hero
Yeah, it's a hit or miss for me. When I can't view it, I do what he said above me.
The only problem with saving is if it's an animated .gif file, it won't animate. And if I'm not mistaken, stock messaging won't animate either. Not 100% since I haven't used stock messaging for quite some time.

Ok so its seems on both cyanogenmod 6.x and AOSP there is no way to save an mms to your sd card. I've tried everything I can think of and cannot figure out a way. I always find myself switching back to a 2.1 sense rom because it had the option to save the pic. I get a lot of pics and need to save most for future reference and I find that sometimes they don't load when I click on them, and if they do I can't save them.
Is there an app that I can download that will do it for me? Is there a series of menu's I can navigate? I seem to have exhausted all my android knowledge I have acquired from XDA and need some help.
Ok for both the Handcent and Stock Messaging app you long press on the pic. that's it.
instead of actually opening up the picture to view it and save it
I'm running CM6.1 - Mau5 themed. so its 2.2
Pictures are of me using both handcent and the stock messaging apps to save the Picture to the SD card.
Last photo is what you do not want to do - open up an image viewer
Should work for you too
wow... of course it's that easy. I never thought to just long click it. I always opened it up first. Thanks!

This is what I normally do.. However there was a time when I had a very long thread of messages and I didn't want to scroll through it to find all the pictures. I installed the app called "Save MMS" from the market and it brings up a list of all your MMS messages and lets you save them individually; it was a life saver!
Hello people of the world. My phone one day after I took the battery out to let it cool down and put it back in+restarted it, whenever I hit the home, instead of going to the home screen, it went to desk home built in app (I'm running stock 2.2). I figured it out by freezing desk home on titanium backup. But the real problem is that whenever I enter an app, like facebook or email, it is only in the horizontal view even though I am holding it upright. It is with ALL my apps (even the xda app D. I was wonderin if anyone knows the solution :S and if desk home had something to do with it.

Anyone using the native lockscreen? I have a question.
I use chomp SMS as my messaging client and I get numerous message counts on the lockscreen from the native messaging app. Is there any way to shut off that notification? Or do I have to use a different lockscreen? I really don't wanna have to use a different lockscreen. I'm actually trying to leave it as stock as I can.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am like you for the moment I am liking the stock look and feel of this phone for now. I do really like GoSMS because of how customizable it is but also because when you are setting up it does a brief setting check to see how the stock messaging app. is set and then tells you what to turn off. It is a pretty slick low resource using messaging app. I dig it.
If you have never tried it you might want to give that app. a shot. IMO it is one of the better messaging apps. out there. Here is a link to it on the market.

I used GoSMS for awhile. I like it too but it still doesn't shut off the SMS count on the lockscreen.

Weird. I don't like the count on the screen either and there is a setting in both the stock and GoSMS settings that offers the option to disable the count for the lock screen. Maybe it is something specific with the Thrill. I don't know but now I am curious. I am going to look further into it. I check back and see if you found something before I do.
This has actually been mentioned in some review articles and as far as I know the reviewer was never able to actually get a fix for it other than to use the stock sms/mms. It is software related as far as they saw so the dev for chompSMS and what not will have to fix it.
Hey cool man thanks for the update. Because I had not found anything yet. LOL!

There is no way to disable it though the stock apps or settings. i use hancent sms and it has an option to set it as the default app for sms, mms, or all. when you pick both, the stock messaging app is bypassed until the next boot up, but only displays the notification until you open either handcent or the stock app. i have noticed too, that if you want to set a custom ringtone through an alternate messaging app, the stock notification ringtone must be set to silent or be turned off completely to work right. this can always be different for other phones though.
If you are rooted (or willing to do so), you can install Titanium Backup, create a backup of the stock messaging app, then uninstall it that way. No unread message count anymore. You can always reinstall it if you wish to go back completely stock.
When I take a picture using the stock camera App and then try to view it, it only shows me a blurry preview and it just says "loading" in the middle, but never loads the picture no matter how long I wait.
When I go to the stock gallery, I can see all of my pictures, but when I click on any of the thumbnails it does the same thing.
I am currently running stock 5.7.893, deodexed. Only mods I have made is this one from Droidjunk - Power Menu with Reboot & Reboot Recovery.
Otherwise everything is working great.
I downloaded QuickPik from the market and it works great. All pictures load just fine, as they should. Only problem I can't get QuickPik to load from within the camera app.
So it appears to be an issue with the stock gallery app.
The deodexer does that. I spoke with droid junk who indicated he cant fix it.
Ahhh... thanks for the info. That would explain it then.
Guys - this problem is driving me up the wall.
I've tried for hours to fix it, but can't find a solution.
When in WhatsApp, when I click the paperclip to attach, then Gallery, it takes me to the "WhatsApp gallery" thing which has all my photos etc. in it. Using the 3 dot menu I can then also choose to go to HTC Gallery or Google Photos instead. That's all fine.
However, when I select an image in the "WhatsApp gallery" and hit the send button, it WILL NOT send no matter what I do. It just returns to that "WhatsApp gallery" home screen with all the folders.
The ridiculous thing is if, by using the 3 dot button and selecting one, I go to either HTC Gallery or Google Photos, I can send anything just fine.
It is simply this stupid intermediate screen that doesn't work!!!!
What is it? And how can I fix it / get rid of it / set default to HTC Gallery?
I've tried clearing data for Gallery & WhatsApp, uninstalling WhatsApp, installing WhatsApp+, moving DCIM folder contents around - you name it, I've tried it to the best of my knowledge.
Please someone tell me what the problem is here, because although it's a very small thing, I use it daily and it's driving me mad!!
Thanks
