after upgrading to CM7 i am having problems with my phone...its keep getting random shutdowns and reboot by itself...is there any know reason that will resolve this problem. If there is none, what I have to get back to stock or back to original settings.
I know how annoying that can be same thing happened to me on my phone when I did it I didnt really bother trying to find a solution for it. To gett to stock its just a matter of finding 2.1 stock rom and flashing it with Odin.
What version of CM7 do you have? They used to have a problem with the Wi-Fi sleep option that made your phone reboot a lot.
They fixed it in an update they put up a few days ago.
I have the update....so how can I install it

Whenever I flash custom ROMs I have several problems. One of them is random rebooting. This isn't the problem with the stock ROM. Another problem I have is not receiving messages. If I flash back to a stock ROM I receive tons of messages that I didn't get while I had the custom ROM installed. I have tried re flashing the custom ROMs several times. The question is has anyone had this problem, and how can I fix this?

Need to know what ROM's you are attempting to flash.
What version of phone do you have? Pull the battery and look at the white
label and tell me the build # of that phone. It's a 4 digit number (I.E. mine is 1008) If it is a 1008 - this is a known issue - and you'll need to test by going back to STOCK and seeing if the issue continues. If it does - you will need to warranty replace it.
The "tons of missing messages" means that the flash of the custom ROM didn't work right.
Best thing you can do to fix these issues - make sure you are installing the custom ROM correctly - make sure to follow the "chef/dev's" instructions before flashing the ROM.
Also.. if you go to the Q&A sticky it will point you to all sorts of different information - I would look at the "How to install a custom ROM" sticky in the dev section.

My last IMEI numbers are 4486, and my build number is 1008.
I have been flashing Darky 7.01 up to 7.7 and perception. Before installing the ROMs I flash back to stock firmware and I do a master clear.
I have a hard time believing that the ROM is just flashing wrong because I have tried this around 10 different times. Each time I get a removed SIM error,
Which perception?

10,9.9, and 9.5.
Try running Assonance and see if you get the same issue.
And.. Build 1008's (my build btw) is known to have random shutdown issues.
Mine is very specific - when I fully charge my phone to 100% it won't stay up until the battery drains back down to around 85% then no more shutdowns.
Will need to warranty your phone for replacement if it is still doing this while stock. I'd recommend flash back to stock - DO NOT ROOT - just run the phone for a day or so with a full charge and see if it is still shutting down. If it is.. then you will need to have it replaced.
And I randomly get "no sim card found" errors with i9000 roms after a reboot. I just turn airplane mode on/off and all is good afterwards.
I don't seem to have any problems with stock firmware

I reposted this thread after realizing that the original was in the wrong area. I'm running into a strange problem with flashing kernels on my cappy and i was wondering if someone can shed some light on what i'm doing wrong. I'm running phoenix 4.5 with stock speedmod kernel with lagfix disabled. Whenever i enable the lagfix OR flash a better kernel such as sucker punch or glitterballs, the back button randomly activates without me touching it which is annoying to the point where i have to flash back to stock and disable lagfix. Whenever i run a kernel without the lag fix, i have no back button issues. I'd like to figure out a fix for this problem so i can run the powerhouse kernels without my back button going haywire. I'm a noob to XDA and have tried searching for a solution but i haven't found one yet. If one has been posted on this issue, please excuse my noobieness. I'd appreciate all the help i can get

I have this problem to and it is not related to kernels or custom roms it is a hardware problem from what I can tell. My experience is alittle different since it is the search button but I have encountered it after a flash back to stock.

If I wasn't enjoying this phoenix 4.5 rom so much with virtually no problems, I'd flash back to stock and use it for a bit to test it out.

Hi guys
I've been messing around with jvb, jvh, jvo and now jvp for a little while now, when flashing a fresh jvp the other day I had my 1st ever error in odin and my phone had a blue screen. I pulled battery and started again. I think my usb has been playing up on my laptop. So I got back into download mode and redid the flash but started with eclair, then froyo then back to jvp hoping to clear out any errors. Since then I had ramads deodexed jvp running great with hardcores kernel. I had flashed several of his kernels as he updated quite frequently. I then stated having issues with wifi toggle. Id click it on and it would flicker on and off. Then just stay off, so id click it again and same thing. Eventually it would either turn on and work fine or it will reboot my phone. Since then I have tried other kernels and it still does it whether its a fresh copy of jvp or just roms flashed over the top. So far I think with just ramads jvp it is ok but I havent tested enough. I remember reading on gto's forum about doing a full clean from eclair using 3 files and repartition but I can't find 2.1 or 2.2.1 with 3 files. I also remember reading about wifi errors and driver fixes but I can't find that any where. Can anyone help. Links to other posts or links to 3 file 2.1 & 2.2.1. also if I wanted to go back to froyo can I use froyo bootaders after having gb bootloaders. If so how would I do it. Thanks garth

I've found that turning wifi off then trying to turn it back on straight after causes the reboots, i also found that stock jvp not Ramads jvp doesn't flicker at all. Just turns on ok. So it maybe root or cwm causing wifi to flicker. But battery life is terrible on stock jvp. So far browsing the net for no more than 30 mins on hsdpa, installing a few apps and battery died in 5hrs. Also went back to froyo 2.2.1 and wifi worked great. Then added hardcores kernel k13e and a cooked Rom but had many force closes even after wiping everything. Not sure what else to do, maybe root phone again, add all the goodies i like and just deal with wifi paying up sometimes, hoping to get a sgs II soon anyways

Hey guys,
I've recently been having some weird problems.
Firstly my (external) SD card has been acting really weird, showing as "Blank or corrupt" and unable to format it.
Another problem is now, SMS notifications for the stock app don't work. This happened randomly overnight.
I have tried flashing again, with a wipe, to no avail.
My ROM etc is attached as a screenshot.
If you need any more info just tell me what to put.

Thanks everyone,
Luke.

Time to flash to gingerbread? (darkys 10.1 would be and easy upgrade from 9.5)
Else try flashing the stock rom that came with the phone?

Yeah I was thinking of doing that, I'm going to be sending my phone off for repairs soon anyway, so need to put it back to stock anyhow.
I've had a lot of problems with Darky's 10.1 though so i'm gna try stock GB and see if it solves anything.
If not, I'll flash to stock and send it off, see if they replace anything apart from the earpiece xD
Hi all,
I've been unable to find a post about this for quite some time so I decided to make a threat about it.
I have a recurring problem with my captivate. Usually after about 2 weeks of using a ROM my phone will have 2 issues pop up simultaneously. They seem to always happen together. It seems to happen after my phone shuts off and will not turn back on until I battery pull. Once I do that I am presented with these two issues:
1.) When I try and toggle Wifi it attempts to then simply says "error" underneath it. I have found a few threads about this but no answers
2.) Upon installation OR restoration of any app with Titanium Backup my phone does a soft reboot (goes to spinning CM logo or for ICS goes to the multicolored squares flying around).
Edit: On the newest MIUI it now says "insufficient storage available" instead of rebooting when I try to install an app after the issues crop up, wifi "error" is still the same
I've had these same 2 issues occur with CM7 Stable, RC, and many nightlies, MIUI, and TeamHacksung's ICS build. I believe it may have happened with cognition too but am not positive.
I do not restore any data with TB. Before each flash I wipe system, cache, dalvik, and do factory reset and still this issue occurs without fail after about 2 weeks on any ROM and the only fix I have is to flash a new one.
Nandroid backups DO fix the problem. If anyone is willing to look through logs or something and see what was different I would be eternally grateful and certainly send you something through PayPal
Any help is greatly appreciated and I am willing to try anything at this point. Thanks!
Sorry for the double post,
Is there a better forum to post this in?

Nah this is the right place. That's a very strange problem you're having though, and I don't know what the exact solution is, if there even is one for this. The only thing I can suggest is going back to stock, and then reinstalling CM7 or whatever you want

Thanks,
Well happened again on newest MIUI. Gonna go back to stock and start over. I'll update the thread if it does or does not happen again.
Unfortunately after using Odin to go back to stock and rerooting/flashing it happened again on the most current build of MIUI. I'm currently at a loss for what to do. Has anyone heard of or seen anything like this?
Thanks in advance

Just curious, have you tried leaving it stock and seeing if it happens on a pure stock ROM? If so it could be a defect with the phone?
If you flash back to pure stock and the issue doesn't come back, maybe try a custom ROM that's closer to stock, not a CM or MIUI or ICS build. I haven't seen this issue, just trying to suggest some solutions.
I had this same problem with my fascinate. I flashed 1.10.21 MIUI follwed by glitch 13.1. This combination used to work, or so I thought. I flashed back to stock, 1.12.1 then a different package of glitch 13.1 and my wifi started working again. I know the captivates and fascinates are somewhat different, but try this out and see if it works.

I guess I could try that, I just like CM7/MIUI so much. Another thing that happens is many different applications start FCing after the problems all begin.
I tried to restore to a nandroid backup I had made before it happened this time and I received an MD5 mismatch which I believe happened last time I tried to restore...
New info:
I have not realized this before but it seems that I start getting a message that says, "Google Talk Authentication Failed", around the same time. Also FCs happen much more frequently. Is there anything I could be doing to cause this?
New Info
Just going to keep this updated with things I have tried in case anyone ever searches for this that has this issue:
Full format of SD card and odin back to stock did not prevent the issue from cropping up on the DarkKnight3 ROM with Icy Glitch. At this point I can only assume it is somehow hardware relatedl
